Tesla shares are trading higher amid overall market strength as investors assess US-UK trade developments.

J.P. Morgan analyst Christopher Horvers on Thursday reiterated a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/COST/analyst-ratings">Overweight rating </a>on the shares of Costco Wholesale Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COST#NASDAQ">COST</a>) and raised the price target from $1070 to $1088.
Costco's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/05/g45266456/costco-wholesale-corporation-reports-april-sales-results">U.S. core comparable sales rose </a>7.1% in April, surpassing expectations despite a calendar-related sales headwind from the Easter shift, said the analyst. 
U.S. store traffic climbed 5%, while total global traffic increased 4.2%, and the average transaction size grew 2.4% year-over-year. 
However, core sales in Canada and other international markets underperformed versus projections. The strongest U.S. regions were the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast, while internationally, Mexico, Korea, and Taiwan led performance. 
 E-commerce sales jumped 13%, excluding currency effects, noted the analyst.

Costco shared several key insights on recent sales trends. First, the company observed less early demand pull-forward in non-food items in April compared to March, particularly in electronics, while noting strength in upholstered furniture and continued share gains in appliances, aided by its home delivery expansion. 
The negative impact from the Easter timing shift was smaller than anticipated, estimated at around 1.5–2.0 percentage points. 
Second, in response to high beef prices, consumers are trading down to lower-cost cuts, a behavior that Costco previously flagged; however, the pricing pressures are not as disruptive as earlier egg inflation. 
Lastly, softer results in Canada and other international markets were attributed mainly to inflation and broader macroeconomic pressures, with only minor concerns about anti-American sentiment, the analyst asserted.
The analyst highlighted COST&#8217;s strong global momentum, market share gains, and exposure to a rebound in big-ticket items, which make up about 20% of its core sales. 
The company is also beginning to benefit from new advertising revenue streams. Costco's consistent international success and dominant warehouse club model position it as a top performer in the retail sector, rivaling the best companies across consumer categories. 
According to the analyst, the company remains a high-conviction investment pick.

JPMorgan Sees More Upside For Costco As US Sales, E-Commerce Outperform

Sunrun Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RUN#NASDAQ">RUN</a>) shares are trading higher on Thursday after the company reported better-than-expected <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/05/45268589/sunrun-stock-rallies-after-strong-q1-report-details" rel="noreferrer noopener">first-quarter results on Wednesday</a>.
The company reported an EPS of 20 cents per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 25 cents loss and revenue of $504.27 million, which beat the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate of $484.06 million</a>.
Guggenheim analyst Joseph Osha kept Neutral rating on the stock and writes that while overall customer volume growth is modest in the quarter (additions of 25,428, up only 6%, with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color" rel="noreferrer noopener">expected decelerating comps)</a>.
The analyst anticipates the company to continue to prioritize liquidity and profitability over aggressive growth in the near to medium term, awaiting a more favorable environment.

Osha projects Sunrun to become an increasingly dominant player as the residential solar industry consolidates.
The analyst writes that the company&#8217;s main challenges are policy-related, particularly the solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which significantly impacts their cash generation ($50 million impact on cash flow for every 1% change in the effective ITC rate).
The analyst notes that the company has strategies to counteract a lower ITC, and management stated their belief that the company can still generate cash under such circumstances.
However, the analyst adds that accurately predicting the net effect and timing of potential changes to the Inflation Reduction Act on cash generation is exceedingly challenging.
Osha expects this to pose a considerable challenge for RUN investors in the medium term.
KeyBanc analyst Sophie Karp reiterated a Sector Weight rating and said the results beat consensus. They exceeded their solar and storage capacity addition guidance and marked their fourth <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/RUN/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">quarter of positive cash flow</a>.
The company&#8217;s second quarter and FY25 guidance indicates strong demand across channels, and they continued to reduce corporate debt, adds the analyst.
Karp writes that while these positives might offer some valuation support, broader uncertainty around government and fiscal policy, coupled with persistently high industry-wide cost of capital, can lead to shares unlikely to regain positive momentum in the near term.
Investors can gain exposure to the stock via&nbsp;the Invesco Solar ETF&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TAN#NYSE">TAN</a>) and&nbsp;the ProShares S&amp;P Kensho Cleantech ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CTEX#NYSE">CTEX</a>).

Since early April, Trump's administration has imposed sweeping new tariffs, including a 145% levy on Chinese goods and a blanket 10% on other imports, citing national security and economic competitiveness.
However, these measures have brought severe fallout for small businesses reliant on Chinese suppliers. Port traffic is also taking a hit. The Port of Los Angeles expects container arrivals to drop by nearly a third year-over-year.&nbsp;
Gary Cohn, a former director of the National Economic Council during Trump&#8217;s first term and now IBM's vice chair, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/gary-cohn-ibm-face-the-nation-transcript-04-27-2025/">told CBS</a> that the effects of the tariffs would begin to manifest in the U.S. economy by late May, due to the typical eight-week supply chain cycle.&nbsp;

According to <a href="https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/small-business/small-business-loan-rates-fees">NerdWallet</a>, interest rates for business loans remain stubbornly high—ranging from 6.54% to 11.7% at traditional banks—with online loan rates reaching up to a jaw-dropping 99% APR.
Cuban emphasized that many businesses lacked the cash flow to stockpile inventory before tariffs took effect, leaving them no choice but to absorb higher costs on their next orders. Vertex's $15M Investment Elevates Kintsugi To $150M Valuation–The Startup Aims To Simplify Tax Compliance For SMBs Worldwide

When a loved one passes away, navigating their financial legacy can be both emotional and complicated. That's exactly the situation one listener named Irene faced when she wrote to personal finance expert Suze Orman on the "<a href="https://omny.fm/shows/suze-ormans-women-and-money/ask-kt-suze-anything-how-do-i-settle-a-deceased-parent-s-credit-card-debt">Women &amp; Money</a>" podcast.
Irene's 60-year-old sister had passed away, leaving behind a $281,000 traditional 401(k). Irene, 62, and her 64-year-old sister were listed as the beneficiaries. However, they also have two other siblings, ages 59 and 64, and want to share the inheritance with them as well.&nbsp;
The big question: what's the best way to do that — especially considering the tax implications?

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Inheriting a Traditional 401(k)</h2>
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/04/45111417/more-than-70-of-americans-concerned-about-a-recession-this-year-heres-how-suze-orman-says-to-prepare">Orman</a> explained that since the account is a traditional 401(k) and not a Roth, taxes have never been paid on that money. That means the beneficiaries will owe ordinary income tax on any withdrawals they make.
The account will need to be transferred into what's known as an inherited IRA for each listed beneficiary. Under current <a href="https://www.irs.gov/retirement-plans/plan-participant-employee/retirement-topics-beneficiary">IRS rules</a>, non-spouse beneficiaries like Irene and her sister must fully withdraw the funds within 10 years of the original account holder's death. If they wait too long and withdraw it all at once at the end of 10 years, they could be hit with a much larger tax bill.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Spreading Withdrawals Over Time</h2>
Orman recommends spreading the withdrawals over the 10-year period to manage taxes more efficiently. If the account is split evenly between Irene and her sister, each would receive about $140,500. Orman suggests each sister takes out roughly $14,000 to $20,000 per year, depending on each person's income tax situation.
"So at the end of the 10th year, it&#8217;s wiped clean," Orman said. "When you take out the money, you are going to owe ordinary income tax on it."

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gifting a Portion to Other Siblings</h2>
So, how can Irene and her sister share the inheritance with their two other siblings who weren't listed as beneficiaries?
Orman said they can choose to gift money to their siblings from their withdrawals — after paying the taxes themselves. "You would subtract whatever amount of income tax you paid, figure out how much that would have been on the amount you want to give them, and then just give them the money. It&#8217;s just that easy," Orman explained.
That means if Irene withdraws $15,000 and pays, for example, $3,000 in taxes, she could give one of her siblings up to $12,000 from that amount. There's no need to go through the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/03/44289468/inherited-ira-from-husband-grows-from-240k-to-266k-in-10-years-suze-orman-says-thats-horrific">inherited IRA</a> directly, and the siblings receiving the gift won't owe taxes on it if it's under the annual gift tax exclusion, which is $19,000 in 2025.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Planning Ahead Can Make Things Easier</h2>
While this plan allows Irene and her sister to honor their family's wishes, Orman used the moment to make a broader point: estate planning matters. She noted that if the sister had used a Roth 401(k) or <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/04/44885154/suze-orman-why-you-should-transfer-your-401k-or-403b-into-a-roth-ira-when-you-leave-a-job">Roth IRA</a>, it could have simplified things by eliminating the tax burden altogether.
Still, with some smart planning and open communication, Irene and her siblings can share the inheritance in a fair and tax-efficient way.

The IRS has introduced some <a href="https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/401k-limit-increases-to-23500-for-2025-ira-limit-remains-7000">401(k) funding changes</a> for 2025 that allow older investors to contribute additional funds to their plans.
According to a survey by <a href="https://news.northwesternmutual.com/2025-04-14-Americans-Believe-They-Will-Need-1-26-Million-to-Retire-Comfortably-According-to-Northwestern-Mutual-2025-Planning-Progress-Study">Northwestern Mutual</a>, Americans need $1.26 million to retire comfortably. Among Gen X'ers, who are approaching their retirement years, only 54% believe that they will be financially prepared for retirement when the time comes.&nbsp;

Tommy Lucas, a certified financial planner and enrolled agent at Moisand Fitzgerald Tamayo, told <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/12/17/higher-401k-limit-2025-update-your-account-now.html">CNBC</a> these new changes are a "super-funding" opportunity for older investors, offering them an opportunity to catch up.
What exactly the changes are, and who qualifies for them, hasn't been entirely clear. Catherine Valega, a CFP and founder of Green Bee Advisory, told CNBC, that it will take time for people to become aware of the new opportunities, and that at this point "no one knows about the extra increase."
So here's a more precise breakdown of the "super-funding" opportunities and who qualifies for them.&nbsp;
In 2025, the IRS has set 401(k) contribution limits to $23,500 for investors of all ages, up $500 from 2024.&nbsp;
Older contributors, ages 50 and up, can contribute an additional $7,500 in "catch-up contributions" to their 401(k). This totals out to $31,000 for the year, a cap that remains unchanged since 2024.

But for contributors who are 61, 62, or 63, a change under the Secure 2.0 Act of 2022 has increased the catch-up contributions from $7,500 to $11,250. This means that the total cap for investors in their early 60s sits at $34,750 for 2025.&nbsp;
It's important to note that the age eligibility is determined by how old you'll be by Dec. 31. So if you're 59 at the start of 2025 and will turn 60 before year-end, you're eligible for the increased catch-up contributions. However, if you're currently 63, turning 64 by the end of December, you are not eligible.
Dan Galli, a CFP and owner of Daniel J. Galli &amp; Associates, told CNBC that the higher 401(k) catch-up rates are "a great tool in the toolbox." However, they're not ones that many people are using. According to data from <a href="https://institutional.vanguard.com/content/dam/inst/iig-transformation/insights/pdf/2024/has/how_america_saves_report_2024.pdf">Vanguard's "How America Saves" report</a>, only 15% of eligible employees utilized these catch-up options in 2023.&nbsp;
Fidelity told the outlet that 3% of retirement plans haven't added the feature for 2025, meaning catch-up contributions will stop at $7,500. So it's important that you speak to a financial advisor if you plan to take advantage of the change to ensure you're able to make the most of it.&nbsp;

Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc.&nbsp;(NASDAQ:&nbsp;WBD) reported fiscal first-quarter results on Thursday. The company <a target="_blank" href="https://ir.wbd.com/investor-relations/default.aspx" rel="noreferrer noopener">reported</a> a quarterly revenue&nbsp;decline of 9% ex-FX year-on-year to $8.98 billion, missing the&nbsp;analyst consensus estimate of&nbsp;$9.60 billion.&nbsp;
The EPS loss of 18 cents missed the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">analyst consensus loss estimate</a> of 11 cents loss.
The net&nbsp;loss was $453 million, halved from a loss of $966 million Y/Y. WBD reported an adjusted EBITDA of $2.11 billion, a 4% ex-FX growth.

Content revenues decreased 25% ex-FX to $1.87 billion, primarily driven by lower box office and home entertainment revenues due to the stronger performance of the prior year&#8217;s theatrical releases and no Games releases in the current quarter.
Streaming: The company ended the quarter with 122.3 million subscribers versus 99.6 million Y/Y.
Streaming revenues increased 9% ex-FX to $2.66 billion. Distribution revenue increased 8% ex-FX due to a 23% increase in subscribers following Max&#8217;s continued global expansion and new domestic distribution deals.
Advertising revenue increased 35% ex-FX, primarily driven by increased ad-lite subscribers. Global streaming ARPU decreased 9% ex-FX to $7.11, primarily due to growth in lower ARPU international markets. Domestic streaming ARPU decreased 5% to $11.15, primarily due to a broader wholesale distribution of Max Basic with Ads.
Content revenue decreased 7% ex-FX, as Max&#8217;s launch in new international markets, including Australia, in the current quarter, resulted in lower third-party licensing.
Adjusted EBITDA for the Streaming Segment was $339 million, up from $86 million in Q1 2024.
Studios: Studios revenues decreased 16% ex-FX to $2.31 billion.
Content revenue decreased 17% ex-FX.
Theatrical revenue decreased 27% ex-FX, primarily due to the strong box office performance of Dune: Part Two and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in the prior year and home entertainment revenue from Wonka and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Games revenue decreased 48% ex-FX due to the prior year&#8217;s release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Adjusted EBITDA for the Studios Segment was $259 million, up from $184 million in Q1 2024.
Global Linear Networks: Global Linear Networks revenues decreased 6% ex-FX to $4.77 billion. Distribution revenue decreased 8% ex-FX, driven by a 9% decrease in domestic linear pay TV subscribers.&nbsp;

Net income surged 40.2% to $115 million, and adjusted EBITDA rose 9.3% to $389 million. Adjusted EBITDA margin was 4.2%, an increase of 18 basis points compared to the prior year.

Healthcare and hospitality volumes grew 6.1% and 3.6%, respectively, while chain volume declined 4.3%.
Adjusted Gross profit was $1.6 billion, an increase of 5.1% from the prior year. Adjusted Gross profit as a percentage of net sales was 17.3%.
On May 7, the company authorized a new share repurchase program of up to $1 billion.
Outlook: US Foods reaffirmed its fiscal 2025 adjusted EPS guidance of $3.69 to $3.88, compared to the $3.79 analyst estimate.
The company also maintained its fiscal 2025 sales outlook of $39.39 billion to $40.15 billion, compared with the $39.75 billion estimate.
Price Action: US Foods shares are trading higher by 4.51% to $72.29 at last check Thursday.
