The primary catalyst for this shift is the growing trade tensions between the US and China. The imposition of tariffs has made the US a riskier proposition for foreign investors. As the tariffs take their toll on global supply chains, many countries are starting to reassess their relationship with the US, leading to a more cautious global market outlook. With the dollar weakening, stock prices falling, and bonds losing their usual safe haven appeal, the question on everyone's mind is: What's keeping Bitcoin afloat? Could we be witnessing the beginning of a broader financial shift where traditional assets, like the US dollar and government bonds, lose their status as safe havens in favor of alternatives like Bitcoin? As traditional markets falter, Bitcoin is showing signs of strength—and possibly stepping into a new role as a macro hedge. <a href="https://www.vaneck.com/us/en/blogs/investment-outlook/our-portfolio-managers-weigh-impact-of-trumps-tariffs/">A recent VanEck report</a> highlights several factors supporting this shift.

First, a dovish turn in Fed policy and rising liquidity historically benefit Bitcoin. Continued weakness in the U.S. Dollar Index could also reinforce the "Bitcoin-as-a-hedge" narrative, especially in a fragmented geopolitical climate.
Notably, while 10-year Treasury yields surged this week, Bitcoin remained stable. Unlike in 2022, rising yields didn't trigger forced liquidations or volatility, suggesting BTC may be decoupling from old macro sensitivities.
On-chain and ETF data support this resilience. Despite recent volatility, U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs are net positive ~$600 million YTD, with renewed inflows in March.
Finally, moves by China or the EU to bypass dollar-based systems could further legitimize Bitcoin as an alternative financial rail in a shifting global order.

What's Keeping Bitcoin Afloat as DXY, US Stocks, and Bonds Sink? A Dive Into The Resilience of BTC

CSX Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CSX#NASDAQ">CSX</a>) posted weaker-than-expected first-quarter results after <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/CSX/earnings">Wednesday&#8217;s closing bell</a>.
CSX reported quarterly GAAP earnings of 34 cents per share, which missed the analyst consensus estimate of 37 cents. Quarterly revenue came in at $3.42 billion, missing the $3.46 billion consensus estimate, as declines in coal revenue, fuel surcharge and merchandise volume were only partially offset by the effects of higher merchandise pricing and growth in intermodal volume.
"CSX faced operational challenges to start the year, which contributed to first quarter results that did not meet our expectations," said Joe Hinrichs, president and CEO of CSX. "In response, our talented and dedicated team of railroaders are working together to lift our performance and drive success through an uncertain market outlook. We are taking targeted actions to address the network constraints posed by two major ongoing infrastructure projects, and we remain committed to safely and reliably serving our customers."
CSX shares gained 1.6% to trade at $27.79 on Thursday.
These analysts made changes to their price targets on CSX following earnings announcement.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) has been trading sideways over the past 30 days, prompting a debate about when the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/bitcoin-price-prediction">next strong trend will emerge</a>.
What Happened: On-chain analytics firm CryptoQuant on Wednesday <a href="https://x.com/cryptoquant_com/status/1912572692143780303">analyzed</a> the sell-side pressure impacting Bitcoin over the past two weeks. 
Contrary to popular belief, whales are not dumping. 
Instead, short-term holders are driving the recent pullbacks, creating turbulence without substance.
The data from its Exchange Inflow Age/Value Bands shows that short-term holders are the main source, offloading an average of around 930 BTC per day, compared to just around 529 BTC/day from long-term holders, who remain largely unfazed.
The on-chain data also provided a breakup based on wallet size showing that the retail and mid-sized cohorts: shrimps to sharks are doing most of the selling, while whales have barely budged, moving only around 70 BTC/day.

Overall, this correction is a typical Bitcoin shakeout, according to CryptoQuant, triggered by jittery retail participants responding to stagnant price action and low volatility and not a smart money exodus.

Why It Matters: Crypto trader Altcoin Sherpa echoed the sentiment, describing the market as "boring" with no clear breakout levels or direction in the short term. 
"Feels like one of those ‘could go up or down' zones," he said, noting that altcoins remain choppy too.

Meanwhile, Cold Blooded Shiller <a href="https://x.com/ColdBloodShill/status/1912791604756181163">pointed</a> to Bitcoin consolidating near a potential crossover zone, suggesting a larger move could be brewing. While the broader trend remains bearish, he sees the current range as a healthy setup for potential upside—if macro conditions cooperate.
