It was, however, significantly lower than Softbank&#8217;s initial expectations for a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/09/34552899/investor-frenzy-over-arms-ipo-pushes-valuation-to-new-heights-could-skyrocket-to-54b">$70 billion valuation</a>, owing to a decline in profits leading up to the offering.
Shares of the chip designer have since rallied over 128%, following its blockbuster IPO, which was at the time the largest since Rivian Automotive Inc.&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RIVN#NASDAQ">RIVN</a>) $12 billion offering in 2021.

"He was really quite adamant that he thought we should start then," she recalled. "And he said, ‘I'll drive them.' And I said, ‘You'll drive?'"
Yes—that Bill Gates. The one running one of the most powerful companies in the world. He committed to the commute, even though it meant a long loop back past home to make it to Microsoft headquarters.
And other parents noticed.
"A few weeks into the school year, some other moms sidled up to me and they said, ‘Hey, do you see what's changing in the classroom?'" Melinda said. "I'm seeing more dads dropping off kids," she replied. The moms nodded.

What started as a small family negotiation ended up shifting expectations—one Volvo at a time.
Melinda said she hadn't realized their household choices were quietly modeling a more equitable version of parenting. But they were. "By trying to create more balance in household chores," she noted, "we realized we were impacting other marriages."
That balance, she explained, was essential.
Melinda has spoken frequently about the toll of "unpaid" labor—things like doing dishes, packing lunches, or remembering dentist appointments—that often fall to women. "We still do family dishes," she added. "Last night was just Bill and me for dinner, and we did the dishes together."

It aims to lower return rates by allowing users to see what an item will look like on them before they make a purchase. Iran has reportedly arrested 20 individuals, accusing them of espionage for Israel&#8217;s intelligence agency, Mossad, and has issued threats of execution.
What Happened: According to a report, Iran&#8217;s judiciary has detained 20 people on charges of spying for Mossad. Asghar Jahangiri, the Judiciary spokesperson, announced the arrests in Tehran, stating that there would be no mercy for the alleged spies.
Earlier this week, Rouzbeh Vadi, a distinguished Iranian nuclear scientist, was arrested and executed after being found guilty of spying for Israel. 
As per the report <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/09/world-news/20-alleged-mossad-spies-arrested-in-iran-amid-threat-of-execution-regime-says/">by</a> the New York Post, Vadi was blamed for leaking classified information about a colleague who was killed during the recent 12-day war between Israel and Iran.

The law primarily targets activities associated with Israel and the U.S.
The regime of Ayatollah Ali&nbsp;Khamenei has executed at least eight individuals on espionage charges in recent months. 
Amnesty International has expressed concern over the increasing number of&nbsp;arbitrary executions and political repression&nbsp;in Iran.
Why It Matters: Iran has reportedly relocated its surviving nuclear scientists due to fears of further Israeli attacks. 
A senior Iranian official stated that these scientists are&nbsp;no longer permitted to teach&nbsp;or live in their family&nbsp;homes and have been&nbsp;moved to the capital or&nbsp;northern coastal cities.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">You Can Cover A $1,000 Emergency Expense</h2>
Yang starts his checklist by saying that it's good if you can cover a $1,000 emergency expense. You never know when a surprise expense may show up, and it's better to use your checking account to pay it off than resort to a personal loan.
As a bonus, you can put the money in a high-yield savings account. That way, the money is growing at a respectable rate while generating risk-free returns.&nbsp;
Yang mentioned that 59% of people cannot pay a $1,000 emergency expense. If you are in that position, you may want to review your monthly expenses and look to put at least $100 per month into an emergency savings account. Picking up a short-term side hustle can also get you to the $1,000 threshold.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">You Have No High-Interest Rate Debt</h2>
Having no high-interest debt is another positive sign that your finances are in a good position. Interest compounds over time, but the compounding is limited if the APR is low. Most people have to take out mortgages to buy homes, and luckily, these financial products have relatively low rates.
Some people run into financial hardships if they don't address their credit card debt. These financial products are notorious for high APRs, especially if you have low credit or recently missed a payment. You may have to make short-term sacrifices like curtailing expenses and working a part-time job to get out of credit card debt. It's better to make short-term sacrifices so you can avoid long-term financial hardships.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Not Buying Designer Goods And Status Symbols</h2>
The things you purchase reflect what you think about money. Yang mentioned that it is a good financial sign if you do not have any designer goods or status symbols. These purchases make you look wealthy, but fancy cars and goods don't always equate to wealth.

Yang said it is better to build wealth quietly. Instead of showing off with a designer bag, you can put that same money into the stock market. Index funds and ETFs make it easier to buy assets without knowing intricate details about individual stocks.&nbsp;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Saving Close To 15% Of Your Gross Income</h2>
Yang wrapped up his four-point checklist by saying that you should save close to 15% of your gross income. Investing money early and often gives it more time to grow.&nbsp;
If you aren't saving 15% of your gross income, you can start with your current percentage and inch it up by at least 1% per year. For instance, if you saved 10% of your gross income last year, aim to save 11% of your gross income this year. You can also boost your percentage by a higher amount if you earn extra money while keeping your living costs intact.&nbsp;
The 15% benchmark is a good starting point, but it's good to aim higher. Saving 20% to 25% of your gross income and putting it in retirement and brokerage accounts can result in a sizable nest egg by the time you retire.
