Key figures and investors in the crypto space have expressed relief at the anticipated policy change, buoyed by appointments of crypto-friendly individuals to prominent positions, including David Sacks as AI and crypto czar, and Paul Atkins as the nominee for SEC Chair.
These moves, coupled with expectations of executive orders designed to establish a Bitcoin reserve, <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/01/16/business/new-trump-ends-crypto-communitys-government-harassment/">according</a> to New York Post and halt debanking practices, signal a new era for the industry in the US.
Frank Chaparro, an early Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) investor, emphasized the magnitude of this shift, describing it as &#8220;a seismic change in the approach and tone of the government.&#8221;
He added that banks, which were previously discouraged from working with crypto firms, are expected to become active participants in the sector. 
Previously, many startups, facing regulatory hurdles and financial barriers, were forced to move their operations outside of the US. Now, this trend is expected to reverse with firms looking to move back, or expand into the US market. 
The overall mood within the crypto industry is one of optimism, as many anticipate a period of growth and innovation.

While there is a general consensus that the change in administration will improve the crypto space in the U.S., there are some varied views on how the implementation should work.
Many are anticipating the forthcoming executive orders and the details it will contain, as this will provide clarity on many of the questions being raised in the market. 
The market is also witnessing events such as the upcoming Crypto Ball in Washington D.C. which will be sponsored by key figures in the crypto space, which underscores the anticipation of a positive future for the crypto industry.
Alexander Grieve, VP of Government Affairs at Paradigm, <a href="https://x.com/AlexanderGrieve/status/1879871039108153404">cautioned</a> against taking press narratives at face value, urging stakeholders to wait for official communication directly from the President and his staff before making assumptions.
David Bailey, CEO at Bitcoin Magazine, also <a href="https://x.com/DavidFBailey/status/1879851786166771868">expressed</a> skepticism, particularly regarding proposals to favor U.S.-based digital assets. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Interest On The Rise</h2>
Hunter Horsley, CEO of Bitwise, <a href="https://x.com/HHorsley/status/1879679937415954680">highlighted</a> the growing institutional interest in Bitcoin, saying that, "Nation-states are now asking about Bitcoin ETFs and considering shifting foreign reserves into BTC." 
Meanwhile, Senator Cynthia Lummis has <a href="https://x.com/Cointelegraph/status/1879914116648939746">raised</a> concerns about the U.S. Marshals Service&#8217;s plans to sell nearly 70,000 Bitcoin that were previously seized.
She has formally requested detailed information about this planned sale, citing potential losses and questioning the wisdom of liquidating such assets given the new administration&#8217;s pro-crypto stance. 
Her letter raises concerns about transparency, decision-making processes and long-term strategic planning regarding these Bitcoin holdings.

Diamond jewelry retailer Signet Jewelers (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIG#NYSE">SIG</a>) is the subject of a new short report that comes as shares trade near 52-week lows after the company lowered <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/42975858/signet-jewelers-slashes-q4-sales-forecast-stock-drops-over-16">fourth-quarter guidance.</a>
Here's why The Bear Cave predicts more trouble ahead.
Signet's Increased Competition: The latest <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/the-bear-cave">Bear Cave short report</a> targets the diamond jewelry company on the thesis that lab grown diamonds will continue to cut into Signet's market share.
"The Bear Cave believes today's youth and future generations will shift towards lab-grown diamond engagement rings and mined diamonds will be a vestige of the past," the <a href="https://thebearcave.substack.com/p/problems-at-signet-jewelers-sig">report </a>said.
Benzinga contacted Signet for comment on the report. 
Signet operates the Zales, Kay and Jared brands predominantly in malls with a key demographic being low-to-middle-income engagement ring shoppers, the report adds.
"The Bear Cave further believes the trend of lab-grown diamonds is accelerating quickly, will cause a strong devaluation in both mined and lab-grown diamond prices, and will cause Signet's business to suffer significantly."
A lower price point and ethics concerns over how diamonds are mined could result in the wave of young engagement ring buyers shifting to lab-grown diamonds, the report said.
The Bear Cave cites a rise of posts on social media talking about lab-grown diamonds and their positives as being a potential negative for Signet's future. The report highlights one user's post around the argument for buying an engagement ring that looks better at one-tenth the price and saving thousands of dollars that can be used to spend on a honeymoon or wedding.

What's Next: The growth of lab-grown diamonds could threaten Signet's business model and send prices for diamonds even lower, the report said.
Signet has around $2 billion in inventory on its balance sheet, according to the report. This figure could decline over time and hurt the overall value of the company.
The rise of lab-grown diamonds could result in less frequent purchases of Signet&#8217;s extended service agreements, The Bear Cave said. Service agreements drive high-margin revenue for Signet and are frequently priced as a percentage of the cost of an engagement ring, the short report said, and will decline with the price of engagement rings. 
Signet recently lowered its fourth-quarter revenue guidance from a range of $2.38 billion to $2.46 billion to a new range of $2.32 billion to $2.335 billion. Shares fell in December after the company<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/12/42340973/signet-jewelers-stock-tanks-after-dismal-q3-print-guidance-cut"> reported third-quarter</a> revenue and earnings per share that missed analyst estimates. 
SIG Price Action: Signet stock is down 2.19% to $57.63 on Thursday versus a 52-week trading range of $54.44 to $112.06. Signet stock is down 21% over the last five days and down 31% over the last month.

On Thursday, Outlook Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/OTLK#NASDAQ">OTLK</a>) completed the analysis of the complete 12-week safety and efficacy results for NORSE EIGHT evaluating ONS-5010 in wet age-related macular <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/g43023003/outlook-therapeutics-announces-complete-twelve-week-efficacy-and-safety-results-of-norse-eight-cli" rel="noreferrer noopener">degeneration (wet AMD) patients</a>.
ONS-5010 demonstrated non-inferiority to Novartis AG (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVS#NYSE">NVS</a>) / Roche Holdings AG&#8217;s (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RHHBY#OTC">RHHBY</a>) Lucentis (ranibizumab) at week 12 in the NORSE EIGHT trial. Based on the completed analysis of the 12-week results, Outlook Therapeutics plans to resubmit the Biologics License Application (BLA) for ONS-5010 in the first quarter of calendar 2025.
The difference in the mean between ONS-5010 and ranibizumab was -1.009 best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) letters.

BCVA measures how well a person can see after wearing corrective lenses, such as glasses or contact lenses.
In the intent-to-treat (ITT) population, NORSE EIGHT demonstrated a mean 5.5 letter improvement in BCVA in the ONS-5010 arm and 6.5 letter improvement in BCVA in the ranibizumab arm.
As previously announced, in the NORSE EIGHT trial, ONS-5010 did not meet the pre-specified non-inferiority endpoint at week 8 outlined in the special protocol assessment (SPA) with the U.S. <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42214804/why-is-eye-disease-focused-outlook-therapeutics-stock-trading-lower-on-wednesday" rel="noreferrer noopener">Food and Drug Administration (FDA)</a>.
However, BCVA data across all study timepoints demonstrated an improvement in vision, increasing over time, and the presence of biologic activity.
Overall, in NORSE EIGHT, ONS-5010 demonstrated mean visual acuity improvements of +3.3 letters at week 4, +4.2 letters at week 8, and +5.5 letters at week 12.
ONS-5010 was generally well-tolerated with overall ocular adverse event rates comparable to ranibizumab.
ONS-5010/LYTENAVA (bevacizumab gamma) has been approved in the European Union and the United Kingdom. Outlook Therapeutics intends to begin launching in Europe in the first half of calendar 2025.
The company also entered into agreements for warrant inducement transactions expected to result in up to $20.4 million in gross proceeds.
The company will use the proceeds to fund its ONS-5010 clinical development programs, the European commercial launch of LYTENAVA, and working capital and general corporate purposes.
Price Action: OTLK stock is down 9.78% at $2.06 at last check Thursday.
