Swatch's 'Up In Smoke' Watch Is The Low-Key Flex Of 4/20 Season

Eli Lilly &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LLY#NYSE">LLY</a>) shares staged their sharpest single-day rally in nearly 25 years Thursday, after unveiling data from a pivotal trial that could cement its leadership in a weight-loss drug market projected to more than triple <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/25/04/44871681/lillys-diabetes-pill-clears-major-trial-analyst-points-to-global-potential">in size by 2030. </a>
The stock surged, closing the day up 14.36% to $839.96, marking its best performance since June 2000.
In a Thursday note, Goldman Sachs analyst Asad Haider, CFA said Eli Lilly's first Phase 3 trial of orforglipron — a once-daily oral treatment for type 2 diabetes and obesity — hit its top-line targets with best-case scenario results across weight loss, blood sugar control and safety.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">The Data That Moved the Market</h1>
Lilly's ACHIEVE-1 trial evaluated orforglipron, an oral GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist, in adults with type 2 diabetes. 
At the highest 36mg dose, patients saw an average weight reduction of 7.9% over 40 weeks — translating to 16 pounds of weight loss, substantially above the placebo-adjusted rate of 6.3%.
For context, that outperforms Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVO#NYSE">NVO</a>) 's Rybelsus — currently the only oral GLP-1 treatment available — which achieved a 4.9% weight loss at its peak dosage in the SUSTAIN-1 trial.
In addition, orforglipron delivered A1C reductions of up to 1.6%, aligning with injectable semaglutide's performance and hitting a critical target in glycemic control. 
More than 65% of participants on the highest dose achieved an A1C level at or below 6.5%, a threshold defined by the American Diabetes Association as the benchmark for controlled diabetes.
Discontinuation due to side effects was 8% at the top dose, and there were no reported liver injury signals — two key safety indicators watched closely by investors after setbacks in rival studies.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Why Wall Street Is Cheering</h1>
Goldman Sachs analysts wrote that the trial marks "an important clearing event for LLY shares," especially after recent disappointments from rivals like Novo Nordisk A/S and Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMGN#NASDAQ">AMGN</a>) in their respective obesity pipelines. 
The investment bank reiterated a Buy rating and $888 price target on the stock, citing Lilly's potential to dominate a market expected to balloon from $28 billion today to $95 billion by 2030.
Their internal forecasts see risk-adjusted peak sales for orforglipron hitting $23.5 billion by 2035, with commercial rollout starting globally in 2026. That's well above the Street's consensus of $16.8 billion.
"This data trends toward our bull case scenario," Goldman said, noting that investor caution ahead of the binary trial event was likely keeping shares from rallying sooner.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Is Orforglipron The ‘Ozempic In A Pill'?</h1>
Tim Anderson, equity analyst at Bank of America, said Thursday's results were "pretty much a best-case scenario," covering all four key investor watchpoints: weight loss, blood sugar control, tolerability and safety.
Calling orforglipron a potential "Ozempic in a pill," Anderson highlighted its small molecule structure as a key differentiator. 
Unlike Novo's Rybelsus, which is a peptide with cold-chain storage limitations, orforglipron's easier manufacturing and oral delivery method could unlock demand in emerging markets, where injectables face logistical hurdles.
"Positive results like these, in a skittish market, should be received well," Anderson said, adding that the company remains one of the two dominant incumbents in the diabetes and obesity drug space.
Bank of America reiterated its Buy rating and $1,000 price objective, citing Eli Lilly's superior growth metrics: while the stock trades at roughly three times the average pharma price-to-earnings multiple, its expected earnings-per-share growth is five to six times higher than peers, making it relatively attractive on a PEG basis.

"We believe that a combination of: (1) an improving industry structure and more rational competitive behavior, (2) the near resolution of the company's over exposure to Teslas, (3) a successful operational turnaround plan under a new management team with a track record of success in an adjacent industry, and (4) the company's leveraged capital structure will enable Hertz shareholders to generate a highly attractive return on investment," Ackman wrote. 
He highlighted Enterprise as an industry leader and said his firm estimates that Enterprise has profit margins of 20% or higher, demonstrating the potential for large profits in the car rental industry. 
Ackman closed the post with a proposed scenario in which Hertz could potentially partner with Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: UBER) on an autonomous vehicle fleet. 
"Hertz's large installed fleet of 500k vehicles, its expertise in vehicle maintenance and servicing, and the significant scope and scale of its thousands of locations (11,200 globally) and other difficult to replace at scale physical infrastructure make it an ideal partner for @Uber, a partnership which could greatly improve the utilization and profitability of Hertz's vehicle fleet," Ackman wrote.&nbsp;

Solana's market structure has also remained bearish, even after the recent rally. But could this be the higher timeframe shift the bulls have been waiting for?

It's always important to understand the asset or market you're looking to trade or invest in. When it comes to Solana, it is a highly volatile market—an extreme beta-driven asset at the end of the day.
This means Solana tends to move in line with the overall market. If Bitcoin trades higher, Solana will likely see even larger gains — but it could also experience steeper losses if Bitcoin moves lower.
Solana's fundamentals are rooted in its high-performance blockchain infrastructure, designed for speed and scalability. Memecoins have played a big role in the push that Solana has seen over the last few months as it made its way back toward all-time highs. The reason for this is that they've driven a surge in on-chain activity, attracting both retail and speculative capital to the Solana ecosystem. With low transaction fees and fast execution times, Solana became the preferred network for launching and trading memecoins—leading to increased demand for SOL as users needed it to participate. This wave of hype and user engagement helped fuel momentum, reinforcing Solana's position as a top-performing blockchain during this cycle.
However, as the excitement in the memecoin space has started to die down, the increased activity has also subsided. This has led to a decline in DEX volumes, which in turn has contributed to a downward move in Solana&#8217;s price. As speculation and trading volume in memecoins cool off, the broader market sentiment has shifted, pulling back some of the gains Solana experienced during the peak of the memecoin frenzy.

What to Watch
Solana has great potential to be a widely used blockchain, but the current issue is that the driver of the volume hasn't come from sustainable value—it's been largely fueled by memecoins. This doesn't mean Solana can't trade higher. In fact, Solana has seen a nice bounce from the lows. However, until the overall fundamentals shift, where on-chain volume is sustainable and not driven by a negative-sum game like memecoins, I wouldn't expect Solana to make a move toward all-time highs in the near term.
This volatility is great for traders, but as an investor, you would want to see a positive narrative shift for Solana, rather than it being viewed as a casino.

Solana Rallies 40% Off The Lows: Is This Momentum Sustainable Or Just Another Bull Trap?

Project funding is to come from state sources and will be included in Granite's first-quarter CAP.
This infrastructure project will transform the existing asphalt paved roadway from FM 548 north of US 80 to Windmill Farms Blvd into a concrete paved roadway, including additional travel lanes and drainage upgrades. Project improvements will provide increased traffic capacity to help relieve traffic in the rapidly growing City of Forney and surrounding Kaufman County, particularly through the busiest commercial area in the city.
The scope of the project includes over 200,000 square yards of 10" concrete pavement and over 40,000 linear feet of new storm drain.
Granite is excited to contribute to the growth and development of Forney and Kaufman County, enhancing the quality of life for residents and supporting the area's economic expansion.
Construction is expected to begin in July 2025 and be completed in March 2027.

Streaming giant Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NFLX#NASDAQ">NFLX</a>) reported first-quarter financial results after <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings">market close Thursday.</a>
Here are the key highlights.
What Happened: Netflix reported first-quarter revenue of $10.54 billion, up 12.5% year-over-year. The revenue total beat a Street consensus estimate of $10.52 billion according to data<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pro/register?utm_adType=bzprocontent&amp;utm_campaign=14daytrial&amp;utm_ad=0417"> from Benzinga Pro.</a>
The company reported earnings per share of $6.61, beating a Street consensus estimate of $5.74.
Revenue and operating income came in ahead of company guidance, according to the company. Netflix said higher subscription and advertising revenue and the timing of expenses contributed to the guidance beat.

"We're executing on our 2025 priorities: improving our series and film offering and growing our ads business; further developing newer initiatives like live programming and games; and sustaining healthy revenue and profit growth," the company said.
WWE RAW on Netflix launched in the first quarter and the company said the content has been on its top 10 global list every week. Other content highlighted from the first quarter included "Adolescence," "Back in Action" and "Counterattack."
Netflix announced that Reed Hastings transitioned from executive chairman to chairman of the board and a non-executive director.

 What's Next: Netflix is guiding for second-quarter revenue to be $11.04 billion, which would be up 15.4% year-over-year. Earnings per share for the second quarter is $6.61. The company maintained its full-year revenue guidance of $43.5 billion to $44.5 billion.
The company said its live event strategy remains unchanged and highlighted an upcoming boxing match on July 11, as well as the addition of a second NFL game on Christmas Day in 2025, which it opted into.
Netflix also highlighted the upcoming third season of "Squid Game," its most popular series ever. The season will debut on June 27, 2025. Netflix also said its game "Squid Game: Unleashed" based on the series has been one of its biggest games to date and will have new content based on the third season.
"We remain optimistic about our 2025 slate with a lineup that includes returning favorites, series finales, new discoveries and unexpected surprises designed to thrill our members," the company said.
Netflix said it launched it ad tech platform in the US on April 1 and is on track to roll out the platform to other countries in the coming months.
"We are working hard to improve and expand our entertainment offering with the goal to build the most valued entertainment company for members, creators and shareholders."

In January 2025, President Trump issued an executive order requiring federal employees to return to in-person work. This caused several disruptions, including desk shortages, Wi-Fi issues, and even a lack of basic supplies. While the order only affects the public sector, it sure highlights the inefficiencies of traditional office environments and presents a huge opportunity for U.S. companies for hiring in the emerging regions.&nbsp;
Amid these domestic challenges, U.S. companies are increasingly investing in emerging markets, such as Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Asia-Pacific, to capitalise on the benefits of remote work and access to a diverse talent pool.&nbsp;
In fact, Google announced a $2 billion investment in Malaysia to establish its first data centre and Google Cloud region (<a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2024/5/30/google-announces-2bn-investment-in-malaysia-as-govt-hails-26500-jobs">Al Jazeera</a>). Similarly, Apple is putting $250 million into expanding its regional hub in Singapore (<a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/asia/apple-to-spend-more-than-250-million-to-expand-singapore-hub-1fdd736e">WSJ</a>). Companies like Microsoft and Coinbase are hiring their teams in Latin America, taking advantage of favorable time zones and highly skilled, cost-efficient talent. 
These are not just isolated moves. They're part of a broader investment shift. U.S. businesses are currently reconsidering how and where they are hiring, building teams and allocating their capital to more flexible, cross-border strategies that meet modern workforce demands.&nbsp;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What drives the shift to these regions?</h2>
The shift to hiring in the emerging regions has been influenced by several factors. Looking at the numbers, 28% of the U.S. workforce was engaged in remote work as of June 2023 (<a href="https://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/2024/beyond-bls/high-work-from-home-rates-persist-in-2023.htm">U.S. Bureau of Labour Statistics</a>). This trend shows no signs of slowing down, prompting U.S. companies to expand their search for talent beyond domestic borders.&nbsp;
The shortage of skilled labor in the U.S. also emerges as a top factor in the shift. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also predicts a shortage of more than 1.2 million engineers by 2026 (Forbes). With demand for tech talent far outpacing supply, U.S. companies are turning to regions like Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia, where skilled professionals are abundant and often more cost-effective. 
In addition, businesses prioritise maintaining productivity while controlling costs. Hiring in these regions allows companies to work with top-quality talent without the overhead of office space, benefits, and high wages typical in the U.S.&nbsp;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The benefits for the U.S. companies</h2>
One of the strongest motivators behind investing in remote teams abroad is cost efficiency. At Native Teams, we recently explored hiring trends across the U.S. and the APAC region and came up with a few interesting findings.
79% of global executives reported cost savings from flexible work models, mainly by reducing office space (IWG). The fact that 25% of Native Teams' U.S.-based clients currently hire in APAC only confirms that investing in teams in this emerging region brings the benefit of cost efficiency. 
Salaries in the region also play a role. As of mid-2024, the average annual salary for a U.S.-based remote worker was $61,178 (<a href="https://neat.no/resources/top-remote-work-statistics/">NEAT</a>). While the benchmarks for the APAC region remain limited, the historically lower salary costs and the cost-optimization reported by businesses speak about the financial appeal of building distributed teams in these markets.
Tech and remote-first roles remain in top demand in this region. According to our proprietary data, the most commonly hired roles in APAC include software development (33%), project management (14%), customer success (10%), and HR and recruitment roles (10%). India leads in technical roles, the Philippines shows strength in project management, while Indonesia's talent pool is broader, with a higher share of generalist roles.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Challenges and risk factors</h2>
When we talk about the challenges of hiring in global markets, labor law compliance remains on top. Hiring in different regions means dealing with the varying employment and tax laws of these countries. 
Take paid leave policies, for example. While U.S. employers are not legally required to offer paid vacation time, countries in the EU have more stringent regulations. For instance, all EU member states are mandated to provide at least four weeks of PTO per year (exact numbers varying by country) &#8211; a standard not found in the U.S.
Termination procedures count here as well. In the U.S., employment termination is "at-will", meaning either party can terminate the relationship at any time. Contrary to this, in some countries, like India, employers must obtain permission from local authorities to terminate employment in certain cases.&nbsp;
Workers' classification presents another major challenge. In the U.S., workers are classified based on the employer's control over their activities. This is not the case in regions like Eastern Europe and LATAM. In fact, some countries have laws that require certain categories of gig workers to be classified as employees, entitling them to benefits like health insurance and a pension.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The role of EOR services</h2>
The benefits for U.S. companies hiring in the emerging markets are evident &#8211; but so are the legal complexities. Starting from employment contracts, payroll, and benefits administration, ending at termination policies, even the smallest misstep can be very costly. This is one of the main reasons why U.S. employers increasingly rely on Employer of Record (EOR) services.
In simple terms, an EOR acts as the legal employer on the ground, handling contracts, payroll, taxes, benefits, and legal compliance. This enables U.S. companies to hire talent in emerging markets without opening local entities.&nbsp;
The demand for the EOR model is growing fast. According to IEC Group, the EOR market is growing at a CAGR of 16.7% annually and is projected to hit $12 billion by 2030. For U.S. companies looking to invest in global talent, EORs are no longer optional &#8211; they're a strategic asset.&nbsp;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Regional trends in cross-border hiring</h2>
Many U.S. companies look beyond domestic borders to access global talent, with regions like Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia becoming key hotspots for hiring.&nbsp;
Latin America is a prime example. Besides cost-effectiveness, the region's proximity to the U.S. and the time zone alignment remain key factors for real-time collaboration.
Eastern Europe, with countries like Poland and Romania, also present an attractive option. These countries benefit from their EU membership, which ensures regulatory stability for U.S. employers.&nbsp;
APAC countries also continue to draw attention. Referring to our proprietary data, tech roles dominate hiring in the region, and this trend will continue to grow, backed up by growing infrastructure and the digital-savvy workforce.&nbsp;
Governments in these regions are actively introducing reforms that make cross-border hiring even more attractive. Starting from Southeast Asia, Thailand's government recently accelerated efforts to promote its digital nomad visa, opening new channels for U.S. companies to engage remote talent legally (<a href="https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2868688/digital-nomad-visa-promotion-stepped-up">Bangkok Post</a>). Many Latin American countries, on the other hand, rolled out updated teleworking laws to facilitate remote work in the region (<a href="https://www.latincounsel.com/?Noticias=Remote_working_and_Workers_Rights_Common_Regulations_and_key_differences">Latin Counsel</a>).&nbsp;
This is just a small part of the targeted initiatives that signal a clear trend. The emerging regions aren't just talent-rich, but they are also policy-ready to accommodate remote work growth.&nbsp;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The future of remote work</h2>
Despite federal mandates encouraging a return to in-office work, the private sector is expected to continue embracing remote work. While recent U.S. legislative efforts, such as the "Return to Work Act", focus on federal employees (<a href="https://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2025/01/congressional-republicans-dial-multiple-bills-cull-telework-flexibility/402150/">GovExec</a>), private companies in tech and marketing have already demonstrated resilience in maintaining remote work policies. Many businesses are likely to follow suit, realising the continued benefits of hiring in Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia.&nbsp;
Even as the federal U.S. government leads the way in re-evaluating remote work, the cultural shift towards flexible work environments remains strong in the private sector. This is highly driven by cost advantages and the quality talent pools available abroad.&nbsp;
Governments in emerging regions are enhancing their appeal by offering tax incentives and digital nomad visas, as well as creating regulations that support remote work. These developments signal that the future of work will remain remote-first, with U.S. companies continuing to tap into global talent despite the domestic shifts.&nbsp;

Life Transitions: Gates said her new book is based on an idea from a commencement speech she gave at Stanford University, where she talked about life's twists and turns.
"You don't get to be my age without navigating all kinds of transitions," Gates said in the new book, as reported by <a href="https://fortune.com/2025/04/15/melinda-french-gates-book-divorce-gates-foundation-warren-buffett/">Fortune</a>.
The book goes into her transition from leaving the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and turning 60. "I have a lot more to say about transitions. So I just started to go ahead and do a book."
One of the details she revealed was how she and Bill viewed the effects their divorce would have on their professional and personal lives.
Buffett was one of the first people the couple called in May 2021 before going public about their divorce. Buffett, their long-time friend, had donated more than $39 billion to their foundation.
"He had made this enormous investment in the foundation and so whatever decision he would eventually need to make or not make about that was his. We both felt strongly he was one of the first people we needed to tell," Melinda Gates said.

Netflix shares are trading higher following a Q1 earnings beat and strong Q2 guidance.

Telsey Advisory Group analyst Joseph Feldman <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/TSCO/analyst-ratings">reiterated an Outperform</a> rating on the shares of Tractor Supply Co (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSCO#NASDAQ">TSCO</a>) with a price forecast of $67.
The company is scheduled to report its first-quarter FY25 earnings on April 24.
Tractor Supply&#8217;s sales are projected to grow 4.8% to $3.6 billion in the upcoming quarter, with comparable sales rising 1.3%, slightly ahead of the 1.0% FactSet consensus, said the analyst. 
The optimistic outlook is driven by improved weather conditions and the company's continued market share gains.

Gross margin is expected to rise by 98 basis points to 36.3%, driven by better supply chain performance and a shift toward higher-margin private label and media segments. 
But, ongoing strategic investments like adding a new distribution center are projected to increase SG&amp;A costs by roughly 250 basis points to 28.7%, leading to an anticipated 60 basis point decline in operating margin to 7.6%, said the analyst.
Analysts reaffirm a 2025 EPS estimate of $2.20 for Tractor Supply, above the FactSet consensus of $2.16 and within company guidance. 
The outlook sees potential gains in the second half of the year as market conditions stabilize. The long-term thesis remains bullish, backed by the retailer&#8217;s &#8220;Life Out Here 2030&#8221; strategy.
