U.S. stock futures slipped Thursday evening as tensions continued to flare in the Middle East, following Israel&#8217;s preemptive strike against Iran.

The futures markets dipped following Israel&#8217;s Defense Minister, Israel Katz declared a state of emergency, following the attack on Iran. Middle East Tensions Rattle Markets: US Stock Futures Slide, Oil Jumps 8%, Gold Surges Above $3,400 After Israel Strikes Iran

Chip giant Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) has revised its financial strategy after <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/04/44971572/nvidia-chip-ban-wont-stop-chinas-ai-momentum-say-analysts-blocking-h20-would-hand-market-to-huawei-amid-trump-era-export-crackdown">U.S. export controls</a> blocked AI chip sales to China, resulting in a multibillion-dollar revenue shortfall in the first quarter of 2025.
What Happened: Speaking <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2025/06/12/tech/nvidia-ceo-china-us-ai-chip-exports">to</a> CNN in Paris on Thursday, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company will no longer include China in its revenue or profit forecasts due to ongoing U.S. export restrictions.
"I'm not counting on it, but if it happens, then it will be a great bonus," Huang said, referring to the possibility of loosened trade rules. "I've told all our investors and shareholders that, going forward, our forecasts will not include the China market."

Ethereum's decline was steeper, as it sank over 9% in the last 24 hours below $2,550. The second-largest cryptocurrency eroded the gains it made after the rally to $2,860. Dogecoin was also down over 4%.
The meltdown comes after Israel launched what it said was a "preemptive strike" against Iran, according to Defense Minister Israel Katz, <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2025/06/12/middleeast/israel-iran-strikes-intl-hnk?Date=20250613&amp;Profile=CNN&amp;utm_content=1749774194&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter">reported</a> CNN. Katz said retaliatory strikes on Israel are expected.
Over $1 billion was liquidated from the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours, with an overwhelming $947 million in longs getting wiped out.
The derivative markets were spooked. Bitcoin&#8217;s Open Interest dropped 5.69%, while funds locked in Ethereum&#8217;s outstanding contracts declined by more than 13%.&nbsp;
Interestingly, Binance traders were buying Bitcoin's dip, as over 50% of them were positioned short, according to the Long/Short ratio.
The "Greed" sentiment plunged from 71 to 61 over the last 24 hours, according to the Crypto Fear &amp; Greed Index.

Find out what you've borrowed and how much you still owe. Copy or snap key figures for later reference if you don't want to slog through contracts and fine print. Include sections that show interest rates and how much they've been adding to your loan liability. Look at your repayment plans. Are you enrolled in the government's Saving on a Valuable Education Plan, also known as SAVE? If so, pay attention to <a href="https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/loans/student-loan-borrowers-you-have-until-summer-to-prevent-your-wages-from-being-garnished/">garnishment rules</a> arising from legal challenges during the Biden administration.&nbsp;
Rubin says total indebtedness is a "question that most borrowers can't answer." She adds that folks behind in their payments often don't know it, adding to interest costs. "Many borrowers I&#8217;ve worked with are surprised to find they owe more than they initially borrowed when it&#8217;s time to start repayment, Rubin explained. "Because most loans, except subsidized ones, begin accruing interest from the moment they are disbursed."

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Plan repayments and don't count on student loan forgiveness.</h2>
SAVE enrollees have been in limbo since last summer, caught in a court-ordered <a href="https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/loans/save-student-loan-borrowers-likely-wont-make-payments-this-year-but-should-do-this-one-thing-now/">administrative forbearance</a>. That stopped interest rates, but the payment hold is scheduled to end no earlier than September, after government systems are updated. Check out the Department of Education&#8217;s <a href="https://studentaid.gov/loan-simulator/">Loan Simulator</a> for possible repayment options when the interest clock runs again. That site also has eligibility information for specific plans.

According to Rubin, borrowers can also restate income if they earn less now than at the time of the first loan forbearance in 2020. Lower income may reduce your student loan payment if you are enrolled in an income-driven repayment plan. Borrowers on that program may also qualify for student loan forgiveness. But they shouldn't count on relief because, as Rubin notes, "legal challenges continue to threaten SAVE and some of the other IDR repayment plans."&nbsp;&nbsp;
As a side note, teachers, nurses and other public service employees under the Department of Education's Public Service Loan Forgiveness program can cancel debt if they meet strict job length and repayment <a href="https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing">rules</a>.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pay off as much interest as possible when you're still in school.&nbsp;</h2>
Not everyone has the resources to pay for college, and a college loan, at the same time. But student loans generally don't start the repayment clock until six months after graduation, or after failing to meet enrollment guidelines. So, Rubin says it helps if the borrower can "pay off any interest that accrues while you&#8217;re still in school. Even small contributions can help reduce the overall cost of your loans in the long run."

"This country is supposed to be the land of the free and the home of the brave," Johnson said. "But in other countries, they take care of their elders."
Johnson has end-stage congestive heart failure and kidney failure. Though she's mentally sharp, she's physically frail. Her belongings are packed in bins and boxes — but she can't move. She says Family Service of Rochester still controls her money and hasn't returned it.
"How can they be so heartless to take people's money when they have to live?" Johnson asked.

Her daughter, Jannine Johnson, helped her file paperwork with the Social Security office to remove Family Service as her representative payee.
"That money was supposed to be put in mommy's account on [June 3]," said Jannine.

But it didn't happen, Jannine said. The Social Security Administration mistakenly sent the June check back to Family Service. Johnson was then instructed to get the nonprofit to issue her a check.
She's tried. She's still waiting.
Family Service of Rochester told WHEC in a <a href="https://www.whec.com/top-news/consumer-alert-nonprofit-still-has-seniors-social-security-benefits-after-ending-program/">statement</a> that it is following instructions from the local Social Security office and will continue to act as payee until officially replaced,
Johnson's situation is made worse by the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/05/45602625/78-year-old-florida-woman-on-social-security-has-been-living-in-her-car-for-months-because-she-cant-afford-rent-i-eat-one-meal-a-day-for-2-02">type of housing now being offered</a>.
"Want to hear the shocker?" she said. "They told me — you see all this stuff here? — they told me I was going to be in one room with a partner."

Her daughter has found an assisted living facility that could work — if they can access the funds. Until then, Johnson remains stuck in limbo.
The state Department of Health told WHEC that the quality of care provided by the nonprofit was so poor it endangered residents' health and safety. Meanwhile, the Rochester Housing Authority claims Family Service is $400,000 behind in rent payments.
