Argus Research Maintains Buy on Celestica, Lowers Price Target to $120

Celestica Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CLS#NYSE">CLS</a>) reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings after the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/CLS/earnings">closing bell on Thursday</a>.
The company posted revenue of $2.65 billion, versus estimates of $2.61 billion. Adjusted earnings came in at $1.20 per share, versus estimates of $1.15 per share.
"Celestica delivered a strong first quarter in 2025, achieving revenue of $2.65 billion and non-GAAP adjusted EPS of $1.20, both surpassing the high end of our guidance ranges. This strong performance was further highlighted by our highest ever adjusted operating margin of 7.1%," said Rob Mionis, president and CEO of Celestica.
Celestica guided for second-quarter revenue of $2.58 billion to $2.73 billion versus estimates of $2.77 billion. The company expects second-quarter adjusted earnings to be in the range of $1.17 to $1.27 per share versus Benzinga Pro estimates of $1.24 per share.
The company also raised its full-year 2025 outlook. Celestica raised its full-year revenue guidance from $10.7 billion to $10.85 billion, and raised its earnings outlook from $4.75 per share to $5 per share. The guidance is still below analyst estimates of $12.54 billion in revenue and earnings of $5.76 per share.
Celestica shares fell 3.3% to trade at $86.13 on Monday.
These analysts made changes to their price targets on Celestica following earnings announcement.

Whether it makes sense to balance trade is a separate question. We think it does, as does Warren Buffett and as did the late Intel CEO, Andy Grove. But even if it&#8217;s a good policy, there is going to be a period of painful adjustment.&nbsp;

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Trading That Thesis&nbsp;</h2>
It&#8217;s a bearish thesis, so we&#8217;ve mainly focused on adding short exposure, with some exceptions. If something looks cheap&#8211;and likely to appreciate, we go long. And we do so on a day when the market is down. We did just that last Monday, placing long term, bullish bets on two Bitcoin-related names.

Because Bitcoin is starting to behave like its own asset class, instead of like a more volatile version of the Nasdaq. While the NASDAQ 100-tracking Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) is down about 3% as I type this, Bitcoin is up about 2.5%.

Because they are both profitable and cheap, with most of their market caps backed by cash and crypto:

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mostly Bearish Bets The Rest Of The Week</h2>
The rest of the week, we mainly added short exposure on market rallies. Specifically, we placed bets against:&nbsp;

<li>High yield bonds, via the iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG)</li>
<li>Trucking companies serving our ports.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Freight forwarders serving American small businesses importing from China.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Other vendors serving those small business.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
We wrapped up the week with another bet against&nbsp;Nvidia Corporation&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) as it bounced above $110.&nbsp;

We ended the week with three profitable exits, two on bearish trades (including an earlier bet against Nvidia), and one on a bullish put spread on&nbsp;Celestica, Inc.&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CLS#NYSE">CLS</a>).&nbsp;

<li>Puts on Nvidia (NVDA -2.83%↓). Bought for $1.56 on 4/9/2025; sold for $4.02 on 4/21/2025. Profit: 158%.</li>

Although we were bearish on Monday, we nevertheless decided to take profits on Apple and Nvidia again, as those options were expiring on Friday. In that case, our fear outweighed our greed, and enabled us to have three profitable exits this week instead of just one. We post our trade exits at the end of each week, including our losses. Shares of Skechers U.S.A., Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SKX#NYSE">SKX</a>) fell sharply in today's pre-market trading following a <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/04/44996051/skechers-stock-falls-on-q1-revenue-miss-details">first-quarter revenue miss</a>.
Skechers reported quarterly earnings of $1.34 per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.17. Quarterly revenue came in at $2.41 billion, which missed the consensus estimate of $2.43 billion.
Skechers shares dipped 7.2% to $46.82 in the pre-market trading session.

Intel reported upbeat first-quarter financial results, but issued weak outlook for the second quarter. Intel said it expects second-quarter revenue to be in the range of $11.2 billion to $12.4 billion versus estimates of $12.84 billion. The company anticipates a second-quarter earnings loss of 32 cents per share versus estimates for a loss of 16 cents per share.</li>
<li>T-Mobile US, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TMUS#NASDAQ">TMUS</a>) declined 5.5% to $247.83 in pre-market trading following first-quarter results.</li>
<li>Kingsoft Cloud Holdings Limited (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KC#NASDAQ">KC</a>) dipped 4.7% to $11.95 in pre-market trading.</li>
<li>Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GILD#NASDAQ">GILD</a>) fell 3.8% to $102.14 in today's pre-market trading after the company posted mixed first-quarter results. Gilead Sciences also lowered its fiscal 2025 earnings guidance from a range of $5.95 to $6.35 per share to a range of $5.65 to $6.05 per share, versus the $6.21 estimate.</li>
<li>Fluor Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FLR#NYSE">FLR</a>) slipped 3.8% to $34.24 in pre-market trading.</li>

Celestica shares are trading lower after the company issued Q2 sales guidance below estimates.

Outlook: Celestica guided for second-quarter revenue of $2.58 billion to $2.73 billion versus estimates of $2.77 billion. The company expects second-quarter adjusted earnings to be in the range of $1.17 to $1.27 per share versus <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a> estimates of $1.24 per share. 
The company also raised its full-year 2025 outlook. Celestica raised its full-year revenue guidance from $10.7 billion to $10.85 billion, and raised its earnings outlook from $4.75 per share to $5 per share. The guidance is still below analyst estimates of $12.54 billion in revenue and earnings of $5.76 per share. 
The company noted that its guidance assumes no material changes to tariffs compared to what&#8217;s currently in effect, and no material changes from current macroeconomic trends and uncertainties. 
Celestica executives will further discuss the quarter on a call with investors and analysts Friday morning at 8 a.m. ET.
