However, the company is seeing a revival of its theme park businesses and profit margins have expanded for four consecutive quarters.

VanEck, Fundstrat, and Standard Chartered experts anticipate a 2025 BTC high of $180,000 to $250,000 based on institutional adoption and patterns from past markets. But are such lofty price projections realistic?
 The Bull Case: Institutional Momentum Building The foundation of these bullish projections is underpinned by a series of key pillars. Bitfinex analysts suggest that Bitcoin can crack the $120,000–$125,000 zone at the earliest in June, pending supportive macroeconomic developments, setting an important short-term milestone on the way toward the higher objectives.
Institutional adoption is growing dominance. Bitcoin ETFs have experienced steady weekly and monthly inflows with data from BitMEX Research showing net inflows of some $1.2 billion into US-domiciled Bitcoin ETFs during the week up to May 30, 2025. This is a long way from earlier this year when a number of prominent asset managers cut their exposure to spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds after a 12% fall in the price of the cryptocurrency in the first quarter of 2025.

The most optimistic estimates include analysis that is associated with Larry Fink&#8217;s BlackRock, which projects Bitcoin to be worth $700,000 over a 10 year time horizon. It bases the estimate on the assumption of institutions investing merely 2–5% of their portfolios in BTC, a shift that would be a record influx of capital. That's a likely scenario over the next 10 years.  
However, more conservative analysts suggest a more measured approach. In 2025, BTC is expected to move in the $77,000 to $155,000 area, which still represents significant upside from current levels but falls short of the most optimistic projections.
Historical Context and Market Cycles
The volatility of Bitcoin&#8217;s prices has historically been in accordance with four-year cycles during halving events, during which new Bitcoin production is cut by half. Previous cycles have seen exponential increases in prices following halvings, but with each cycle exhibiting diminishing returns as the marketplace matures.
The current cycle is favorable in various characteristics lacking in previous cycles: regulatory certainty in big markets, institutional infrastructure in the form of ETFs, and growing corporate usage. These characteristics can potentially turn past trends upside down and drive prices higher than normal cycle anticipations, and that's in addition to the other M2 type liquidity market drivers.
Risk Factors That Might Deter the 2025 Rally
Despite the positive sentiment, a number of factors may stop Bitcoin from hitting these sky-high targets. Regulatory clampdowns in key markets continue to pose a lingering risk. Macroeconomic headwinds in the form of possible interest rate fluctuations and cross-border economic uncertainty may divert investor interest away from risk assets such as Bitcoin.
Spot bitcoin ETFs pulled in over $1 billion in the first quarter despite soft prices, with one Bitwise analyst calling for up to $3 billion in second-quarter inflows. Institutional demand is on the rise even as it keeps retail investors jumpy. Institutional vs. retail sentiment is the split that can keep any rally in check.
Technical resistance levels are also an issue. Bitcoin has long had an issue with round-number psychological resistance, and the $100,000 level has been particularly stubborn. To break through, and remain above, this level will be crucial to any move towards $180,000-$250,000.

However, investors must remain right skeptical of these projections. While the underlying fundamental forces behind increasing prices for Bitcoin exist, the cryptocurrency market remains notoriously risky.
Factors beyond the usual financial metrics like regulatory actions, technological advances, and sentiment, will ultimately determine whether or not Bitcoin can make it to these elevated price points.
For now, the path to $180,000+ is feasible but not guaranteed. Investors should be aware of risk management and diversification rather than risking everything on these rosy prospects. Policymakers, politicians, business leaders, and investors all use economic data. So, most people agree that any data being cited should be high quality.
But everyone&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/conflicting-views-on-same-economic-data">relies on data differently</a>&nbsp;depending on their goals and interests, which means the implications of data quality varies depending on who's using it.
Today, I'm going to provide some updates on&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/06/business/jobs-report-reliability-trump.html">deteriorating data quality</a>&nbsp;and share some thoughts from the stock market investor's perspective.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘… errors … miscoded … misapplied …‘ &#x1f648;</h2>
We got some unsettling news about data quality last week.
From the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bls.gov/bls/errata/cps-corrections-april-2025.htm">Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)</a>&nbsp;on Tuesday:
<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">Due to minor errors to weights associated with the introduction of a redesigned Current Population Survey (CPS) sample, some April 2025 estimates will be corrected on June 6, 2025. Major labor force measures, such as the unemployment rate, labor force participation rate, and employment–population ratio were unaffected. While corrections will be made to many estimates, the impact is negligible.
In April 2025, the CPS began to phase in&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bls.gov/cps/methods/sample_redesign_2025.htm">a redesigned sample</a>&nbsp;that is based on information from the 2020 Census. During the introduction of this new sample in April, a derived geographic variable used in the weighting process was miscoded, treating micropolitan areas like metropolitan areas, which led to misapplied noninterview weights for some cases.
</blockquote>
That doesn't instill confidence.
It didn't end there.
Here's the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wsj.com/economy/cpi-inflation-data-accuracy-8bd2a8ae">The Wall Street Journal</a>&nbsp;on a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bls.gov/cpi/notices/2025/collection-reduction.htm">BLS notice</a>&nbsp;published on Wednesday:
<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the office that publishes the inflation rate, told outside economists this week that a hiring freeze at the agency was forcing the survey to cut back on the number of businesses where it checks prices. In last month's inflation report, which examined prices in April, government statisticians had to use a less precise method for guessing price changes more extensively than they did in the past.
Economists say the staffing shortage raises questions about the quality of recent and coming inflation reports. There is no sign of an intentional effort to publish false or misleading statistics. But any problems with the data could have major implications for the economy.
</blockquote>
None of that's not great.
"These errors have consequences," UBS's Paul Donovan&nbsp;<a href="https://secure.ubs.com/global/en/wealthmanagement/insights/chief-investment-office/market-insights/paul-donovan/2025/weekly/dealing-dodgy-data.html">wrote</a>&nbsp;on Friday. "Less understanding of U.S. inflation increases the chances of the Federal Reserve making a policy error (especially with the mantra of ‘data dependency')."
The news only adds to ongoing concerns about the quality of government data, which relies on extensive surveys and analysis of those surveys.
One of the more discussed concerns in recent years has been the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.frbsf.org/research-and-insights/publications/economic-letter/2025/03/do-low-survey-response-rates-threaten-data-dependence/">falling response rates to these surveys</a>. The BLS&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bls.gov/osmr/response-rates/">publishes</a>&nbsp;those response rates, and they've mostly been going down and to the right.

It takes a lot of resources to conduct these surveys. But the cost is justified by the value it brings to those making decisions about economic policy, monetary policy, and business.
It's not totally clear how much these developments are affecting the accuracy of the data. But it certainly has affected the robustness of the data and the confidence of those using it.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Two thoughts for stock market investors &#x1f914;</h2>
First, remember&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/dont-forecast-economy-with-single-metric">TKer's rule No. 1 of analyzing the economy</a>: Don't count on the signal of a single metric.
Even when the response rates for these BLS surveys were higher, the results were still susceptible to revisions — and sometimes those revisions&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/business/economy/us-added-818000-fewer-jobs-thought-adding-concerns-economy-rcna167555">were significant</a>.
And even when the data is accurate, it's possible that the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/dont-forecast-economy-with-single-metric">bulk of other data tells a conflicting story</a>&nbsp;that may actually be the correct one.
As always, I'd also caution against reading to much into&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/long-term-data-trends-short-term-fluctuations">one month's worth of data</a>. Data can&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/economic-data-will-zig-zag">zig zag</a>&nbsp;over short periods. The true picture always becomes more clear when you&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/the-markets-and-the-economy-are-full">zoom out and examine trends</a>, not single data points.
"For investors, it is important to remember that broad trends matter, and data precision is increasingly an illusion," Donovan&nbsp;<a href="https://secure.ubs.com/global/en/wealthmanagement/insights/chief-investment-office/market-insights/paul-donovan/2025/weekly/dealing-dodgy-data.html">said</a>.
This is why when analyzing the economy, it's important to consider the confluence of data holistically and over time. (Kind of like how we do in TKer's&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/i/164929587/review-of-the-macro-crosscurrents">weekly review of the macro crosscurrents</a>.) It's extremely unlikely that all of the available data will be simultaneously wrong in the same direction over an extended period of time.
Second, the good news is that reported earnings from publicly traded companies are pretty much always accurate.
Recall&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/i/42137695/earnings-drive-stock-prices">TKer Stock Market Truth No. 5</a>: "News about the economy or policy moves markets to the degree they are expected to impact earnings. Earnings (a.k.a. profits) are why you invest in companies."
What investors really care about are earnings because they're the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/chart-earnings-drive-stock-prices">most important driver of stock prices</a>. And economic data has mattered because it has helped us calibrate our expectations for those earnings.
Every quarter, publicly traded companies report their earnings along with comprehensive financial statements. This information is not deduced from a sample like what we get in economic surveys. These quarterly statements cover all of the financial transactions that are executed, and the numbers are audited by third-party accountants. Outside of very rare occasions (e.g. accounting fraud, major failure of internal processes), these numbers are accurate and do not get revised.
So regardless of the accuracy of the economic data, what matters to investors is if companies are delivering on earnings.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The quarterly reset &#x1f9ee;</h2>
To that second point, I like to think of quarterly earnings season as a time to reset and recalibrate my views as an investor in the stock market.
And it's not just because the reported financial figures are complete and accurate.
We also learn how successfully companies have been able to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/earnings-growth-risks-question">adapt and execute</a>&nbsp;in what may arguably be a difficult business environment as defined by the economic data.
This is not to suggest we should be dismissive of economic data.
Rather we should just be mindful of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/conflicting-views-on-same-economic-data">what "hat" we're wearing</a>&nbsp;as we consider data.
When we're wearing our&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/i/140457648/the-stock-market-hat">stock market hat</a>, economic data matters to the degree it's expected impact to earnings.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Deteriorating economic data quality is not good &#x1f6d1;</h2>
To be clear, deteriorating economic data quality is a negative development for investors.
While investors have the benefit of getting audited financial figures every quarter, the companies they invest in are affected by decisions made by policymakers.
If policymakers are acting on bad data, their decisions may create inefficiencies in the economy and hinder business activity.
Everyone should be in favor of preserving and improving the quality of economic data, especially when that data is informing policy decisions.

Bank of America Securities analyst Vivek Arya on Monday <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/tech-stocks" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">recapped takeaways from</a> a tech conference in which 27 companies attended.
Representatives from the following companies attended: Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>); Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>); Intel Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>); Marvell Tech (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MRVL#NASDAQ">MRVL</a>); Arm Holdings (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARM#NASDAQ">ARM</a>); Coherent (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COHR#NYSE">COHR</a>); Lumentum Holdings (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LITE#NASDAQ">LITE</a>); ON Semiconductor (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ON#NASDAQ">ON</a>); Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TXN#NASDAQ">TXN</a>); Synopsys (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNPS#NASDAQ">SNPS</a>); and Lam Research Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LRCX#NASDAQ">LRCX</a>); KLA Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KLAC#NASDAQ">KLAC</a>); and Applied Materials (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMAT#NASDAQ">AMAT</a>).
Arya noted that the overall tone was positive across computing and networking for GPU (Nvidia and AMD) and ASIC (Marvell) vendors.
He maintains Nvidia with a Buy rating with a $180 price target. Nvidia remains best positioned to benefit from the ongoing AI tide, supported by a multi-year lead in performance (AI scaling), pipeline, incumbency, scale, and developer support, he adds.
Also, the company&#8217;s rack-scale systems are in full production and overall AI demand continues to rise for inference reasoning and sovereign AI.

Arm also expects a continued 50% server CPU deployment share this year, Arya said.
Arya raised his price target on Arm to $150 (from $135) on the continued proliferation (market share gain) of Arm-based CPUs in the data center, above peers, though justified by Arm&#8217;s superior growth profile, sticky Licensing business, and expanding Royalty rates.
Concerns about tariff-related pull-ins remain at Intel for PCs. Still, AMD continues to see strong sell-through in the second quarter, aided by higher-ASP new products, and could even see seasonal second-half strength, the analyst said.
Arya said Lam Research, KLA Corp, and Applied Materials indicated strong momentum in leading-edge F/L and advanced DRAM WFE this year, which is helping to offset weakness in China and trailing-edge spending to sustain mid-single-digit Y/Y growth in calendar 2025.
The analyst said KLA Corp also suggested that mid-single-digit Y/Y WFE growth in calendar 2026 could be a plausible assumption led by strong 2nm/GAA investments.
Lam Research noted NAND upgrades in the early stages across multiple customers inside a $40 billion multi-year opportunity, Arya said. Crucially, all vendors suggested China is &#8220;de-risked&#8221; this year despite recent restriction noise and can settle at 25%- 30% of sales, the analyst noted.
Arya raised his Lam Research price target to $100 (from $90), which was justified by improving NAND prospects as a leading-edge foundry/logic, and advanced DRAM (DDR5/HBM) remained strong.
The analyst raised his price target on KLA Corp to $900 (from $825), given increasing leading-edge F/L ramp visibility, advanced packaging TAM expansion, and best-in-class profitability.
He raised his Lumentum price target to $78 (from $70), justified by broad-based strength in the data center.
Arya raised his On Semiconductor price target to $60 (from $55), which was justified following management calling the second-quarter auto bottom with broad-based recovery across auto and industrial expected in the second half.
