Citigroup shares are trading lower after JP Morgan cut its price target on the stock from $85.5 to $75.5

GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GEV#NYSE">GEV</a>) announced on Wednesday its plan to supply seven high-efficiency 7HA.02 gas turbines capable of running on hydrogen,<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/b44603352/homer-city-redevelopment-and-kiewit-announce-countrys-largest-natural-gas-powered-data-center-camp" rel="noreferrer noopener"> with initial deliveries set for 2026</a>.
The news is related to the announcement by Homer City Redevelopment (HCR) and Kiewit Power Constructors Co. (Kiewit), which have unveiled plans to repurpose the former Homer City Generating Station.
Once Pennsylvania&#8217;s largest coal-fired power plant, the site will be converted into a 3,200-acre natural gas-powered data center campus.
The project will utilize existing infrastructure from the former Homer City plant, including transmission lines linked to the PJM and NYISO grids, substations, and water access.
This transformation aims to support the increasing demand for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing from leading technology companies driving America&#8217;s digital future.
The Homer City Energy Campus is expected to provide up to 4.5 GW of power for AI-driven data centers, cutting emissions by 60–65% per megawatt-hour.
The project will create over 10,000 construction jobs and 1,000 permanent positions, with an initial $10 billion investment—the largest of its kind in Pennsylvania&#8217;s history.
The construction is slated to begin this year, with power generation expected by 2027.
Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova said, &#8220;We are honored to provide our U.S. manufactured, highly efficient and advanced HA gas turbine technology and combined cycle equipment for the Homer City Energy Campus.&#8221;
&#8220;This project demonstrates the best in what investing in power can do; more affordable and reliable energy for everyone, revitalizing local economic development benefits with thousands of skilled jobs and enabling Pennsylvania to help lead the future of AI.&#8221;
William Wexler, President and CEO of HCR, said, &#8220;This project will honor Homer City&#8217;s place in the proud history of Pennsylvania energy generation, while accelerating the state and local community&#8217;s ability to meet the needs of a rapidly shifting energy landscape.&#8221;

Truist Financial shares are trading lower after JP Morgan cut its price target on the stock from $48 to $42.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Thursday issued a Complete Response Letter for Aldeyra Therapeutics, Inc.&#8217;s&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ALDX#NASDAQ">ALDX</a>) resubmission of the New Drug Application (NDA) of reproxalap, an investigational drug candidate, for <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/health-care" rel="noreferrer noopener">dry eye disease</a>.
The FDA stated that the NDA &#8220;failed to demonstrate efficacy in adequate and well-controlled studies in treating ocular symptoms associated with dry eyes&#8221; and that &#8220;at least one additional adequate and well-controlled study to demonstrate a positive effect on the treatment of ocular symptoms of a dry eye&#8221; <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/b44625448/aldeyra-therapeutics-receives-complete-response-letter-from-the-u-s-food-and-drug-administration-f" rel="noreferrer noopener">should be conducted</a>.
The letter identified concerns with the trial data submitted to the NDA that may have affected the interpretation of the results.
The FDA stated that these concerns may be related to methodological issues, including a difference in baseline scores across treatment arms.
The agency said no manufacturing or safety issues with reproxalap were identified.
Per draft FDA dry eye disease guidance, to be considered for regulatory approval in the United States, efficacy in dry eye disease may be demonstrated with two symptom and two sign trials.
Among other clinical trials of reproxalap, Aldeyra previously conducted two trials for ocular redness (a dry eye disease sign) in a dry eye chamber and two dry eye disease symptom field (environmental exposure) trials, which were submitted as part of an initial NDA in November 2022.
In November 2023, the FDA issued a Complete Response Letter to the initial NDA stating that at least one additional <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/23/11/35980906/fda-rejects-aldeyra-therapeutics-dry-eye-disease-candidate-asks-for-additional-study" rel="noreferrer noopener">symptom trial was required</a>.
Aldeyra initiated three clinical trials assessing dry eye disease symptoms: a dry eye chamber trial, a clinical trial in a different dry eye chamber, and a six-week field trial.
In August 2024, Aldeyra announced the achievement of the primary endpoint in the first dry eye chamber clinical trial of reproxalap, and the NDA was <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/24/08/40260741/aldeyras-new-eye-drug-shows-positive-results-in-fda-approved-study-stock-jumps-over-30" rel="noreferrer noopener">resubmitted in October 2024</a>.
Aldeyra expects to announce topline results from the ongoing dry eye disease field trial and the chamber clinical trial in the second quarter of 2025.
Aldeyra intends to resubmit the NDA by mid-year 2025. The review period for the potential NDA resubmission is expected to be six months.
As of December 31, 2024, Aldeyra reported $101 million in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities.
Price Action: ALDX stock is down 74.5% at $1.36 during the premarket session at the last check Thursday.

While most assumed America&#8217;s reciprocal tariffs would be based on the actual tariffs other countries levy on American products, the Trump Administration included &#8220;currency manipulation and trade barriers&#8221; to get its eye-opening numbers.&nbsp;
A few different posters on X determined that the Trump Administration used our trade deficit with each country to determine the size of our reciprocal tariffs. This is essentially the &#8220;scaled tariff&#8221; approach we wrote about here a couple of weeks ago.&nbsp;

Let&#8217;s talk about why Trump isn&#8217;t the crazy one here, and then let&#8217;s address the market implications.&nbsp;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">That Perennial Trade Deficits Are Bad Used To Be A Mainstream Idea</h2>
As Ian Fletcher wrote back in 2010 (&#8220;America Was Founded As A Protectionist Nation&#8221;), pretty much all of America&#8217;s founders were protectionists. And we only abandoned protectionism to prop up our allies during the Cold War: 
<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">What happened to America&#8217;s long protectionist tradition? In the end, America only seriously turned away from protectionism as a Cold War gambit to prop up capitalist economies abroad and tie them to the U.S. Geopolitics trumped domestic economics.
Ironically, our old protectionist playbook for economic development is the same one, in many respects, that China and other nations are using against the United States today. Back when we were the ascending economic power in the late 19th century, it was&nbsp;Britain&nbsp;that complained about &#8220;unfair trade!&#8221; They were right, of course&#8211;but given that nobody forced free trade upon them, it was their own fault. Today, having forgotten our own history, we can&#8217;t even recognize the game being played against us, let alone figure out how to counter it. We will continue to pay a high price in lost jobs and declining industries until we wise up.

The problem is most American pundits&#8217; knowledge of history extends back to World War II (&#8220;Hitler bad&#8221;) and no further.

The main market implication now is that the markets are going down. The futures are a sea of red, and American companies heavily dependent on imports are going to face some major headwinds. The CEO of the retailer formerly known as Restoration Hardware, RH (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RH#NYSE">RH</a>) saw his company&#8217;s stock drop 25% after hours, during his earnings call.&nbsp;

Best Buy shares are trading lower after Citigroup downgraded the stock from Buy to Neutral and cut its price target from $93 to $70.

Microsoft (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) founder Bill Gates nostalgically looks back on the computer code he wrote 50 years ago, which played a pivotal role in the creation of the tech giant.
What Happened: Gates reminisced about the early days of Microsoft in a blog post. He and his late high school friend, Paul Allen, were inspired by a 1975 article&nbsp;about the Altair 8800, a&nbsp;minicomputer powered by a chip from the then-unknown tech company, Intel (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>). This prompted them to assure Altair&#8217;s manufacturer, Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems, that they had developed software to operate the hardware, even though they had not yet written the code.
After two months of rigorous effort, Gates finished the code that laid the groundwork for Altair&#8217;s first operating system. This code later formed the basis for Microsoft&#8217;s suite of software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Windows operating system.

The two biggest Asian economies will see their respective tariff rate rising to 24% and 34%, respectively.
