A semiconductor rally pushed the S&amp;P 500 to new all-time highs on Thursday, with strong earnings from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) boosting tech sentiment after a weak report from ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/technicals/24/10/41383732/stock-of-the-day-taiwan-semiconductor-breaks-out-as-buyers-push-prices-higher">earlier in the week.</a>
The iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SOXX#NASDAQ">SOXX</a>) jumped 2.3%, leading sector gains. NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) hit fresh record highs, reaching $141 per share during the morning session.
The Nasdaq 100 outperformed major indices, while small caps underperformed as the Russell 2000 faced resistance at a key technical level. The Dow briefly touched a record high of 43,289 points before pulling back slightly.
On the macro front, September retail sales exceeded expectations, and jobless claims fell last week, reinforcing views of strong economic resilience. However, this also slightly hit hopes for Fed rate cuts as economists voiced doubts about the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/10/41386234/strong-september-retail-sales-put-feds-next-move-in-doubt-interest-rate-cuts-are-">need for further easing in November.</a>
The U.S. dollar strengthened, with the dollar index (DXY) climbing to levels last seen in early August. The euro fell 0.4% as the European Central Bank cut interest rates amid weak economic data and ongoing disinflation.
Gold prices, tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), rose 0.5%, setting new records despite rising Treasury yields. The 10-year Treasury yield gained 8 basis points to 4.10%, while the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) slid 1.6%, marking its worst session since early August.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) eased 0.4%, taking a breather after four consecutive sessions of gains.

Chipmakers Rally, Nvidia Smashes Records On TSMC Blowout Earnings, Gold Hits All-Time Highs: What's Driving Markets Thursday?

Major indexes are higher following strength in chip stocks after TSM's earnings. Markets have also gained following ECB's rate cut and better-than-expected US retail sales.

Small-cap stocks outperformed large caps in Wednesday's session, with the Russell 2000 Index surging to test July 2024 highs on the back of expectations for interest rate cuts and a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/regional-banks">strong rally in regional banks. </a>
Financial stocks continued their upward momentum, buoyed by strong earnings reports. Morgan Stanley (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MS#NYSE">MS</a>) significantly beat expectations, propelling its stock up by 8% to new all-time highs.
Regional banks, as tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P Regional Banking ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KRE#NYSE">KRE</a>), rallied 2.1%, hitting levels last seen in early March 2023, prior to the fallout of Silicon Valley Bank.
Airlines also soared, with United Airlines Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UAL#NASDAQ">UAL</a>) posting an 11% rally. The surge lifted the entire industry, as tracked by the U.S. Global Jets ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JETS#NYSE">JETS</a>), which reached its highest level since July 2023.
The tech sector lagged, weighed down by weak performance in semiconductors. The industry was still reeling from ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>)&#8217;s earnings shock on Tuesday, after the company slashed its 2025 revenue outlook, triggering a broad selloff in chipmakers.
Both the Nasdaq 100 and semiconductor stocks remained flat on Wednesday.
In the currency market, the U.S. Dollar Index was poised to log its 12th positive day in the last 13 sessions. Treasury yields edged lower. Oil prices saw a slight decline of 0.6%, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude falling below $70 per barrel.
Precious metals offered positive signals, with gold set to close its fifth consecutive day of gains, while silver rose 0.8%.
In the cryptocurrency space, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) advanced 1%, reaching $68,000 — its highest level since late July 2024.

A wave of market-relevant news fueled an active trading session on Wall Street Tuesday, with large-cap indices falling due to sharp declines in tech and energy stocks, while small-caps outperformed, led by gains in regional banks.
At the forefront of the headlines is the massive plunge in ASML Holding NV (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>) shares. The Dutch chipmaker&#8217;s stock nosedived over 16% after a technical error prematurely revealed its third-quarter earnings, originally scheduled for Wednesday, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/10/41339229/asml-earnings-leak-sparks-broad-semiconductor-sell-off-sector-down-sharply-as-dutch-chipmaker-lo">on the company&#8217;s website. </a>
The report disclosed weaker-than-expected guidance for 2025, leading to the worst single-day drop in ASML stock since it went public in 2002.
ASML&#8217;s collapse sent shockwaves across the semiconductor sector, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SOXX#NASDAQ">SOXX</a>) falling more than 4%, marking its worst performance since early September. Key semiconductor players were hit hard, with NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) down 5% and Arm Holdings PLC-ADR (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARM#NASDAQ">ARM</a>) tumbling 7%.
Another underperforming sector was energy. Oil prices plunged 5%, setting up their <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/asia/24/10/41336413/oil-prices-take-largest-plunge-in-over-a-year-as-israel-vows-to-spare-iranian-facilities-energy-stoc">worst trading day in over a year. </a>
The sell-off followed a Monday&#8217;s report from The Washington Post, which revealed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured the Biden administration Israel would refrain from targeting Iranian oil and nuclear facilities in any retaliatory military actions.
Meanwhile, the financial sector surged, extending its all-time highs as Bank of America Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BAC#NYSE">BAC</a>), Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GS#NYSE">GS</a>), and Charles Schwab Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SCHW#NYSE">SCHW</a>) all posted <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41331839/financial-sector-hits-record-highs-as-goldman-sachs-bank-of-america-citi-beat-q3-ea">stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings.</a>
Gains also spread to more economically sensitive regional banks, with the SPDR S&amp;P Regional Banking ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KRE#NYSE">KRE</a>) jumping over 3%, lifting the broader Russell 2000 index by 1%.
In other markets, both the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields remained steady, as there were no major updates on interest-rate expectations. Gold edged up by 0.6%, while Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) continued its recent momentum, climbing 1.3% after a 5.1% surge on Monday.

With the Dow Jones Industrial Average at all-time highs, the earnings report from UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UNH#NYSE">UNH</a>) on Tuesday before the market open could be <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings">of particular interest.</a>
Earnings Estimates: Analysts expect UnitedHealth to report third-quarter revenue of $99.28 billion, up from $92.36 billion in last year's third quarter, according to data<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pro/?utm_source=BZprocontent101424&amp;t=be2bearmibe3na1"> from Benzinga Pro.</a>
The company has beaten analyst estimates for revenue in nine of the last 10 quarters, with the most recently <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/07/39790051/unitedhealth-q2-earnings-revenue-and-eps-beat-lifts-cyberattack-impact-estimate-reaffirms-profit-ou">reported second-quarter</a> results the lone miss.
Analysts expect the company to report third-quarter earnings per share of $7.00, up from $6.56 in last year's third quarter. The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in nine of the last 10 quarters, with the lone miss coming in the second quarter.

Why It's Important: UnitedHealth's second quarter results were significantly impacted by a cyberattack against the company's billing and payments business, which led to misses in earnings and revenue compared to analyst estimates.
Third-quarter estimates expect the company to post growth on a year-over-year basis for both segments and the stock could be one of the most watched for the week with earnings season in full swing.
With a share price over $600, UnitedHealth is currently the largest weighting in the price-weighted Dow Jones Industrial Average at around 9.5%.
"Look for United Healthcare to move markets as it is the largest component in the Dow Jones Industrial Average," Freedom Capital Markets Chief Global Strategist Jay Woods said in his weekly <a href="https://jaywoods.substack.com/">newsletter</a>. &nbsp;
The earnings report comes with the Dow Jones Industrial Average<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41319060/s-p-500-extends-record-highs-dow-breaks-43-000-ahead-of-pivotal-earnings-week-bitco"> hitting new all-time highs </a>of 43,111.45 on Monday. The SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIA#NYSE">DIA</a>), which tracks the index, was up 0.5% to $430.89 on Monday.
Recent<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/UNH/analyst-ratings"> analyst ratings for </a>UnitedHealth include Cantor Fitzgerald reiterating an Overweight rating with a $591 price target and KeyBanc initiating the stock with an Overweight rating with a $675 price target.
UNH Price Action: UnitedHealth stock was up 1.2% to $605.40 on Monday, versus a 52-week trading range of $436.38 to $607.90. UnitedHealth stock is up 12.5% year-to-date in 2024.

UnitedHealth Group Q3 Earnings Preview: Dow Jones Industrial Average Stock Could 'Move Markets' Tuesday

Both the S&amp;P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average extended their record highs on Monday, reflecting continued bullish sentiment as investors anticipate key <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings">corporate earnings reports </a>later this week.
The S&amp;P 500 surged past 5,850 points during midday trading in New York, while the Dow Jones broke above the 43,000 mark for the first time. Wall Street celebrated the two-year anniversary of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41314387/most-widely-hated-bull-market-reaches-2-year-milestone-top-20-s-p-500-stocks-drivin">the bull market&#8217;s start.</a>
However, the Nasdaq 100 is still lagging. It gained 0.7% on the day but remains about 1% below its all-time high set on July 10.
Small-cap stocks also advanced, with the Russell 2000 climbing 0.6%. Among sectors, utilities and technology led the gains, while semiconductors and homebuilders were the top-performing industries.
Despite no major economic data releases, U.S. Treasury yields edged higher, with the 10-year yield reaching 4.13%, its highest level since late July. The U.S. dollar also rose by 0.3%.
Commodities were the weakest asset class, weighed down by uncertainty over China&#8217;s stimulus measures. Gold, silver, and copper fell 0.4%, 1.2%, and 2%, respectively. Crude oil prices dropped 2.3% as OPEC&#8217;s weakening demand outlook dampened sentiment.
Chinese equities, tracked by the iShares MSCI China ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MCHI#NYSE">MCHI</a>), declined 1.1%.
In the crypto space, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) stood out as the best performer, rallying 4.5% to surpass $65,000. Other cryptocurrencies and crypto-linked stocks followed its lead.

S&P 500 Extends Record Highs, Dow Breaks 43,000 Ahead Of Pivotal Earnings Week, Bitcoin's Rally Lifts Crypto Stocks: What's Driving Markets Monday?

Friday's trading session saw another robust rally on Wall Street, with the S&amp;P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average both reaching new record highs, fueled by better-than-expected third-quarter earnings <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/10/41293190/us-banks-top-q3-earnings-estimates-jpmorgan-delivers-robust-beat-financial-sector-stocks-hit-record">from major U.S. banks.</a>
The S&amp;P 500 surged past 5,800 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed above 42,800.
Leading the charge were top U.S. financial institutions, which kicked off the earnings season with strong results. JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>), Wells Fargo &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WFC#NYSE">WFC</a>), Bank of New York Mellon Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BK#NYSE">BK</a>), and BlackRock Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BLK#NYSE">BLK</a>) all beat analysts&#8217; earnings expectations. The upbeat results from these banking giants triggered a rally in financial stocks, pushing the sector to an all-time high. 
Furthermore, gains spilled over to regional banks and the broader small-cap universe, as the SPDR S&amp;P Regional Banking ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KRE#NYSE">KRE</a>) and the Russell 2000 rallied 2.7% and 1.7%, respectively. 
Meanwhile, Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) plunged by 8%, on track for its worst session in more than a month, with analysts expecting further declines after the lack of clear business plans for robotaxis and no updates on the lower-cost production vehicle, following the highly anticipated Robotaxi <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41295072/tesla-robotaxi-day-event-more-fanfare-than-substance-8-analysts-on-cybercab-optimus">Day on Thursday.</a>
On the macroeconomic front, inflation remains in focus. Following Thursday&#8217;s hotter-than-expected Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, Friday's Producer Price Index (PPI) data also came in above forecasts, indicating a setback <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/10/41290382/producer-inflation-rises-more-than-expected-in-september-as-food-transportation-c">in the disinflationary narrative.</a>
Despite the inflation uptick, market expectations for a Federal Reserve rate cut in November remained largely unchanged. According to CME's FedWatch tool, there is still an 85% probability of a 25-basis-point rate cut next month.
In the commodities space, oil prices steadied after surging 3.5% on Thursday, amid a lack of relevant news from the Middle East front. Gold advanced 1.2%, while silver gained 1.4%.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) also posted notable gains, rising over 3% in response to the strong earnings report from BlackRock, which showed higher-than-expected fund inflows. Investors appear optimistic about continued institutional interest in cryptocurrencies.

Strong earnings from major U.S. banks helped fuel the broader market, with investors brushing aside mixed economic data released <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/10/41290382/producer-inflation-rises-more-than-expected-in-september-as-food-transportation-c">earlier in the day.</a>
The S&amp;P 500, as tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), surged past the 5,800-point mark, gaining 0.7% on the day and pushing year-to-date returns to nearly 23%.

The financial sector was the primary driver of Friday's market gains. 
The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLF#NYSE">XLF</a>) rallied 1.9%, marking its strongest session since November 2023 and hitting a fresh record high. 
The rally came as a wave of U.S. banks reported better-than-expected third-quarter earnings, reinforcing confidence in the sector&#8217;s resilience.
JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>) delivered a robust performance, with Q3 earnings per share (EPS) of $4.37, exceeding the $4.00 consensus. 
Shares surged over 4% by mid-morning trading in New York. Goldman Sachs analyst Richard Ramsden highlighted a &#8220;robust beat across every line,&#8221; for the largest U.S. bank.
Wells Fargo &amp; Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WFC#NYSE">WFC</a>) saw its shares soar 6.2% after posting an EPS of $1.42, beating expectations despite cautious guidance on net interest income for the year.
Bank of New York Mellon Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BK#NYSE">BK</a>) also delivered stronger-than-expected results, with BK shares rising 1.8%. 
BlackRock Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BLK#NYSE">BLK</a>) gained 3.4% after upbeat earnings and revenue, as performance fees sharply surprised estimates. BlackRock shares hit a new record high. 
Other major banks participated in the rally, with Bank of America Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BAC#NYSE">BAC</a>), Citigroup (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/C#NYSE">C</a>), Goldman Sachs Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GS#NYSE">GS</a>), and Morgan Stanley (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MS#NYSE">MS</a>) climbing between 2% and 4.8%. Morgan Stanley also set new all-time highs. 
The strength in large-cap banks spilled over to regional players, with the SPDR S&amp;P Regional Banking ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KRE#NYSE">KRE</a>) rallying 3.5%. This helped lift the Russell 2000 index, which gained 1.3% and outperformed large-cap counterparts. 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Mixed Economic Data Overshadowed by Strong Earnings</h3>
Friday's economic data included a higher-than-expected Producer Price Index (PPI) and a weaker-than-expected Michigan Consumer Sentiment report for October. 
The headline PPI came in at 1.8% year-over-year in September, down from an upwardly revised 1.9% in August, but above expectations of 1.6%. Core producer prices – which exclude energy and food – sharply increased from 2.6% to 2.8% year-on-year, surpassing expectations of 2.7%. 
According to preliminary estimates, the University of Michigan&#8217;s U.S. consumer sentiment index fell to 68.9 in October 2024, down from a five-month high of 70.1 in September and missing forecasts of 70.8.
Year-ahead inflation expectations rose slightly from 2.7% to 2.9%, while the five-year outlook dipped from 3.1% to 3%.
&#8220;Consumers continue to express frustration over high prices. Still, long run business conditions lifted to its highest reading in six months, while current and expected personal finances both softened slightly&#8221;, Surveys of Consumers Director Joanne Hsu said. 
Despite the mixed economic signals, investors focused on the strong bank earnings and remained optimistic about the upcoming corporate earnings season.

S&P 500, Dow Jones Hit New Record Highs As Financial Stocks Soar On Upbeat Earnings

Major U.S. equity indices edged lower on Thursday following a hotter-than-expected Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation report for September and as oil prices spiked, driven by fuel disruptions caused by Hurricane Milton and rising tensions <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/middle-east">in the Middle East.</a>
The S&amp;P 500 slipped 0.2% from its record high set on Wednesday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 mirrored the decline. Small-cap stocks lagged, with the Russell 2000 dropping 0.9%.
Consumer prices rose 2.4% year-over-year in September, slightly down from August&#8217;s 2.5% rate but above the consensus estimate of 2.3%. Core inflation, which strips out the volatile energy and food categories, also came in higher than expected, ticking up from 3.2% to 3.3%.
Despite the inflation uptick, economists and investors remained broadly steadfast in their expectations of a 25-basis-point interest rate cut in November. 
In a separate report, weekly unemployment claims surged to 258,000 for the week ending Oct. 5, exceeding forecasts. The spike was likely influenced by auto industry layoffs in Michigan and disruptions caused by Hurricane Helene.
Oil prices rebounded sharply after two days of losses, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbing more than 3% to $75 per barrel. Natural gas prices also advanced over 2%.
Energy stocks outperformed the broader market as a result of the rally in oil prices. 
Experts, cited by Reuters, indicated that power outages in Florida, the closure of several product terminals, delayed tanker truck deliveries, and pipeline disruptions would likely keep gasoline prices elevated.
In the Middle East, Israeli forces reportedly fired on UN peacekeeping bases in southern Lebanon, resulting in injuries to two soldiers, according to UN sources. This incident occurred amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, a militant group based in Lebanon. The incident prompted a sharp response from Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, who summoned Israeli diplomats for an explanation.
Treasury yields remained stable, while the U.S. dollar gained modestly. Gold and silver prices both rose, with gold advancing 0.5% and silver up 1.5%. Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) softened 0.4% to $60,300.

Bulls Stampede On Wall Street: S&P 500 Smashes All-Time Highs, Dow Jones Marks Record Close, Nasdaq 100 Hits Mid-July Levels

The S&amp;P 500 climbed 0.5% during morning trading in New York, reaching a new all-time high by surpassing the 5,770 level, previously touched in late September.
The rally was fueled by a continued decline in oil prices, amid a lack of further escalation in the Middle East conflict and disappointing news regarding <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41227136/chinese-stocks-plunge-as-stimulus-hopes-fade-hong-kong-posts-worst-daily-decline-si">fiscal stimulus from China.</a>
Investors are now focusing on the Federal Reserve&#8217;s next moves, with the minutes from the September meeting set to be released at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
Eight of the S&amp;P 500&#8217;s 11 sectors traded in positive territory, with utilities, materials and real estate being the only laggards. Technology and financials led the charge.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average mirrored the S&amp;P 500&#8217;s performance, now trading within 1% of its record high, while small caps outperformed. 
Oil prices, tracked by the United States Oil Fund LP (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USO#NYSE">USO</a>), dropped another 1%, extending the sharp 5% selloff from Tuesday. The decline in crude prices provided relief to industries heavily reliant on fuel expenses, particularly airlines and cruise operators.
Cruise line stocks rallied as a result, with Norwegian Cruise Lines Holdings Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NCLH#NYSE">NCLH</a>), Carnival Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CCL#NYSE">CCL</a>), and Royal Caribbean Cruise Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RCL#NYSE">RCL</a>) soaring 9.7%, 6.7%, and 4.4%, respectively.
Treasury yields edged higher, with the 10-year yield rising by three basis points to 4.79%. Precious metals softened slightly, with gold eyeing its seventh consecutive session in the red.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) remained stable, hovering around $62,000.

S&P 500 Hits New All-Time High Ahead Of Fed Minutes As Lower Oil Prices Offer Relief: What's Driving Markets Wednesday?

Major indexes are higher following recent volatility, which has been driven by Middle East tensions and oil price fluctuations.

After starting the week with a negative session, U.S. markets rebounded on Tuesday, driven by falling oil prices, which helped alleviate concerns about a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41234471/september-inflation-preview-traders-brace-for-market-jitters-as-crucial-report-loom">potential resurgence in inflation.</a>
Crude oil dropped as much as 5% on the day, weighed down by China&#8217;s lack of additional fiscal stimulus and a de-escalation in geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran.
At the same time, Treasury yields paused their recent climb, offering further relief to investors.
Optimism surrounding the upcoming earnings season also buoyed traders, leading to renewed buying in tech stocks and key AI-linked companies. The S&amp;P 500 gained 0.8%, the Nasdaq 100 rallied 1.3% on the back of semiconductor strength, while the Russell 2000 posted a more modest 0.4% rise.

(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>), Amazon Inc. Commodity markets weren&#8217;t spared from the broader Chinese-led sell-off, with metal prices taking a hit. Gold dropped 1.2%, while silver plunged over 4%, both reacting to China&#8217;s underwhelming stimulus news.
In the crypto space, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) rose 0.5%, trading at $62,479.

Stocks Rally As Oil Prices Tumble; Tech, Chipmakers Lead As Traders Focus On AI Winners Before Earnings Season: What's Driving Markets Tuesday?

Major indexes are higher, rebounding from Monday's drop as oil prices pull back and as yields fall from earlier levels.

Wall Street started the week in the red, as traders weighed the economic and geopolitical fallout from escalating tensions in the Middle East. 
Monday marked the one-year anniversary of Hamas&#8217; October 7 attack, which triggered the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/specialty-etfs/24/10/41210761/oil-surges-on-1-year-hamas-attack-anniversary-as-israel-mulls-iran-retaliation">ongoing war in Gaza</a>. The situation is now threatening to spread across the region, as Israel considers retaliating for last week&#8217;s missile attacks from Iran.
By 1 p.m. ET, the major indices were modestly lower, with the S&amp;P 500 down 0.5% and the Dow Jones off by 0.7%. The Nasdaq 100 also slid 0.5%. The energy sector was the only bright spot, buoyed by surging oil prices.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude, as tracked by the United States Oil Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USO#NYSE">USO</a>), jumped over 3%, climbing to $77 per barrel. This rally marked its fifth consecutive session of gains, fueled by concerns that Israel may retaliate against Iran, a key oil producer, for its involvement in regional conflicts.
Last week&#8217;s blowout U.S. labor market data, coupled with rising oil prices and fresh stimulus measures out of China, pushed 10-year Treasury yields above 4%, setting the stage for the highest levels since late July. Investors appear increasingly wary of long-duration bonds, sending the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) down 0.6%, extending its losing streak to four sessions.
Market sentiment around the Federal Reserve&#8217;s upcoming policy decisions has also shifted. The probability of the Fed refraining from cutting interest rates next month has dropped to just 17%, according to CME FedWatch Tool, 
Rising yields weighed heavily on metals, with gold down 0.4% to $2,645 per ounce and silver dropping 1.3%. Meanwhile, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) gained 1.4%, trading at $63,682.
