Telsey Advisory Group: Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods delivered another quarterly of "strong performance," with comps of 6.4% and earnings of $3.62 per share beating consensus of 3.1% and $3.52 per share, respectively, Feldman said. The company delivered a comp beat despite difficult comparisons and a relatively challenging consumer environment, he added.
In 2024, Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods maintained its position as the largest US sporting goods retailer and grew its market share by around 50 basis points to about 9.0%, the analyst stated. The lower-than-expected earnings guidance for 2025 "mainly reflect investments in long-term strategic growth initiatives, weighing on near-term profitability," as the company is "accelerating growth of its new store concepts, House of Sport and Field House, which have been received well," he further wrote.
Goldman Sachs: Dick's Sporting Goods delivered a "solid" quarter, with healthy comps, margins and earnings, McShane said. The current momentum in the company's business, investments in digital and footwear as well as market share gains will support comps, she added.
Dick's Sporting Goods plans to continue growing its store concepts, including House of Sport, Field House, and Golf Galaxy Performance Center, the analyst stated. "We expect GameChanger and Dick's Media Network to remain important discussion points in FY25, which will serve as margin drivers and potentially result in multiple expansion over time," she further wrote.
Wedbush: Although Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods' quarterly results "handily beat" consensus estimates, the 2025 comps and earnings guidance missed expectations, Basham said. The guidance came below consensus "even without including any impact from tariffs.&#8221;
Basham sees &#8220;more positives than negatives,&#8221; citing market share gains and strong gross margins supported by an assortment of premium products, strategic inventory investments, experiential retail concepts that are resonating, a strong eCommerce business, an impressive adjacent business in GameChanger and an emerging retail media network.
Guggenheim Securities: Dick's quarterly results "broadly exceeded our expectations," management&#8217;s 2025 outlook fell short, "with net capital expenditures needs ramping to over 7.0% of net sales," Forbes said.
The company&#8217;s "broad-based investment agenda" includes increasing square footage, technology investments and marketing expenses, the analyst stated. This indicates Dick Sporting Goods "is entering 2025 with an elevated breakeven comp profile.&#8221;
Price Action: Shares of Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods had declined by 1.62% to $195.75 at the time of publication on Wednesday.

Dan Loeb Pulls Plug On Bath & Body Works Stake As Sales Decline

Wall Street's losing streak extended into Tuesday, with stocks deepening their slump as continued trade war fears rattled investor sentiment. 
The Nasdaq 100 slipped 0.6% by midday trading in New York after suffering on Monday its worst single-day drop since September 2022<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/03/44255030/nasdaq-100-trades-below-its-200-day-moving-average-history-says-you-should-buy-the-dip-now"> in the prior session. </a>
The broader S&amp;P 500 slid to a seven-month low, amplifying concerns over the market's near-term trajectory.
The proportion of S&amp;P 500 stocks trading above their 200-day moving average has now shrunk to 44%, the lowest since November 2023. Each sector traded in the red, highlighting broad-based market weakness. 
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was the biggest underperformer on Tuesday, with industrial stocks bearing the brunt of escalating trade tensions.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump escalated trade tensions by raising tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum imports to 50%, responding to Ontario's move to levy a 25% tariff on <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/03/44253100/trump-slaps-50-tariff-on-canadian-steel-aluminum-threatens-auto-industry">electricity exports to the U.S. </a>
In a Truth Social post, Trump announced he had instructed the Commerce secretary to enforce the additional 25% tariff, which will take effect Wednesday morning.
On the macroeconomic front, job openings in the U.S. showed unexpected resilience, rising by 232,000 to 7.74 million in January from a downwardly revised 7.51 million in December. The reading exceeded market forecasts of 7.63 million, suggesting positive labor market news despite broader economic jitters.
The U.S. dollar continued its descent, with the dollar index slipping to six-month lows. Treasury yields edged higher ahead of Wednesday's closely watched inflation report for February, signaling that investors were not rushing into safe-haven bonds despite the ongoing market turbulence.
Commodities, meanwhile, found favor as investors sought inflation hedges. Gold advanced 1%, silver surged 2.3% and copper climbed 3%, reflecting renewed demand for tangible assets in a climate of heightened financial instability.
Bitcoin endured a wild session, initially plunging to an intraday low of $76,600 — its lowest level since Nov. 10, 2024 — before rebounding to post a 3.9% gain on the day.

Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DKS#NYSE">DKS</a>) shares are trading lower in the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/movers" rel="noreferrer noopener">premarket session on Thursday.</a>
The company reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $3.62, beating the street view of $3.53. Quarterly sales of $3.89 billion outpaced the analyst <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/44242779" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate of $3.78 billion.</a>
&#8220;With a 6.4% Q4 comp we delivered the largest sales quarter in Company history. For the full year, our comps increased 5.2%, we drove meaningful EBT margin expansion,&#8221; said Lauren Hobart, President and Chief Executive Officer.
In 2024, the company opened seven House of Sport and 15 DICK&#8217;S Field House locations. They plan to open 16 more House of Sport and 18 more DICK&#8217;S Field House locations in 2025.

Gross margin for the quarter under review was 34.96%, higher than 34.42% in the year-ago period. Adjusted gross margin for the 14 weeks ended February 3 was 34.57%, while the company registered <a target="_blank" href="https://s27.q4cdn.com/812551136/files/doc_financials/2024/q4/4Q24_DKS_Infographic_vF.pdf" rel="noreferrer noopener">EBT margin </a>of 10.2%.
Dividend: The company declared a quarterly dividend of $1.2125 per share, which is payable in cash on April&nbsp;11, 2025 to stockholders of record at the close of business on March&nbsp;28, 2025.
This dividend represents an increase of 10% over the company&#8217;s previous quarterly per share amount and is equivalent to an annualized dividend of $4.85 per share.
On March 10, the company authorized a new five-year share repurchase program of up to $3 billion of the company&#8217;s common stock.&nbsp;
Outlook: Dick&#8217;s Sporting sees FY25 EPS of $13.80 to $14.40 versus $14.84 estimate. The company sees sales of $13.6 billion to 13.9 billion versus the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance">$13.909 billion estimate.</a>
Dick&#8217;s Sporting projects comparable sales growth of positive 1.0% to positive 3.0%.
