U.S. stock futures fell on Monday following Friday&#8217;s positive moves. Futures of major benchmark indices were lower.



On Sunday, President Donald Trump said media mogul Lachlan Murdoch and tech leaders Oracle Corp.&#8216;s (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ORCL#NYSE">ORCL</a>) co-founder Larry Ellison and Dell Technologies Inc.&#8216;s (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DELL#NYSE">DELL</a>) CEO Michael Dell <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/09/47781987/trump-names-lachlan-murdoch-larry-ellison-and-michael-dell-as-key-investors-in-tiktok-deal-praises-group-as-american-patriots">will take part as investors</a> in a proposed deal to transfer TikTok&#8216;s U.S. operations from Chinese parent ByteDance to American ownership. 



Speaking on Fox News&#8217; Sunday Briefing, Trump praised the group and called them &#8220;American patriots,&#8221; reported Reuters. He also credited TikTok with helping him connect with younger voters during the 2024 presidential race.



On Friday, Trump confirmed he had spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling the conversation progress, and said the two leaders would meet at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/09/47769904/tiktok-stays-online-as-trump-extends-us-deadline-washington-still-demands-bytedance-divestment"> South Korea on Oct. 31</a>. 



Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury bond yielded 4.12% and the two-year bond was at 3.57%. The CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a>&#8216;s projections show markets pricing a 91.9% likelihood of the Federal Reserve cutting the current interest rates in its October meeting.

The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which track the S&amp;P 500 index and Nasdaq 100 index, respectively, fell in premarket on Monday. The SPY was down 0.24% at $662.11, while the QQQ fell 0.38% to $597.07, according to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a> data.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cues From Last Session</h2>



Information technology, utilities, and communication services stocks recorded the biggest gains on Friday, as most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a positive note. However, energy and real estate stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session lower. U.S. stocks settled higher, with the Dow Jones index hitting a fresh record high.



For the week, the S&amp;P 500 gained 1.2%, while the Dow added 1% and the Nasdaq surged 2.2%.



Among mega-cap movers, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) jumped 3.2% on strong demand for the new iPhone 17. In China, preorders topped those of the iPhone 16 in just one minute, helping Apple shares climb above $245 to their highest level since late February 2025.



On the economic front, the Baker Hughes oil rig count rose by 2 to 418 in the latest week.



The Dow Jones index ended 173 points or 0.37% higher at 46,315.27, whereas the S&amp;P 500 index rose 0.49% to 6,664.36. Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.72% to 22,631.48, and the small-cap gauge, Russell 2000, tumbled 0.77% to end at 2,448.77.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Insights From Analysts</h2>



Economist Justin Wolfers believes Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/macro-economic-events/25/09/47782149/trumps-tariffs-have-put-powell-in-a-bind-says-economist-get-rid-of-the-tariffs-to-solve-these-problems">grappling with a significant policy dilemma</a> stemming from President Trump&#8217;s trade and tariff actions. 



"The problem that Powell faces right now is a very difficult one," Wolfers explained in an MSNBC interview. "It is that tariffs have caused a slowdown in economic activity and rising unemployment. And we've got high-and-rising inflation."



Wolfers pointed out that the combination of rising prices and slowing growth presents the Fed with contradictory signals. "They tell you to do different things. When you get higher inflation, you raise rates. When [the] economy [is] slowing, you lower rates," he said.



Rather than using monetary policy to address these conflicting forces, Wolfers offered a more direct solution: "get rid of the tariffs," stating, "That's what solves both of these problems."



He asserted that the Fed is limited in its power to fix structural problems originating from trade policy. "Monetary policy can't solve the problem that Trump has created," Wolfers concluded. "And so they're trying to mop up the mess. But [the] fundamental problem is White House and the tariff program."

Meanwhile, the downturn in new construction, according to the data released last week, prompted a stark warning from The Kobeissi Letter, which stated, "This signals fewer new homes will be built, tightening supply further… Housing is set to become even<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/macro-economic-events/25/09/47781490/housing-set-to-become-even-less-affordable-as-tighter-supply-faces-rising-demand-with-rate-cuts-focus-on-buffetts-len-dhi-play"> less affordable</a>." &#8211;



The latest New Residential Construction report from the U.S. Census Bureau painted a bearish picture for August 2025. Building permits, a key indicator of future supply, fell 3.7% from July to an annualized rate of 1.3 million, the lowest level since May 2020. This marks the fifth consecutive monthly decline—the longest negative streak since the 2008 Financial Crisis. Meanwhile, housing starts plummeted 8.5% for the month.

The weakening housing data provided a clear rationale for the Federal Reserve's recent 25-basis-point rate cut. According to Jamie Cox, Managing Partner for Harris Financial Group, the numbers were "cooperating for the Fed to adjust rates."



However, the move may not be enough to spur a quick recovery. Eric Teal, CIO for Comerica Wealth Management, noted that a more substantial "2% decline in mortgage rates is needed to jump-start the housing market."

<li>On Wednesday, August&#8217;s new home sales data will be out by 10:00 a.m. and San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly will speak at 4:10 p.m. ET.</li>



<li>On Thursday, Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee will speak at 8:20 a.m. ET.</li>



<li>The initial jobless claims data for the week ended Sept. 20, the second quarter GDP&#8217;s third estimate, August advanced U.S. trade balance in goods, advanced retail inventories, advanced wholesale inventories, and durable-goods orders will be released by 8:30 a.m. ET.</li>



<li>August&#8217;s existing home sales data will be out by 10:00 a.m. ET.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Stocks In Focus</h2>

<li>Firefly Aerospace Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FLY#NASDAQ">FLY</a>) was unchanged in premarket on Monday ahead of its earnings report scheduled to be released before the opening bell. Analysts estimate earnings of 46 cents per share on revenue of $17.25 million.</li>



<li>Globus Maritime Ltd. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLBS#NASDAQ">GLBS</a>) tumbled 13.08% despite reporting better-than-expected second-quarter financial results. It reported a quarterly loss of 9 cents per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of a loss of 18 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $9.538 million, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $8.800 million.</li>



<li>Fox Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FOX#NASDAQ">FOX</a>) rose 4.20% as Trump considered media mogul Lachlan Murdoch to take part as an investor in a proposed deal to transfer TikTok&#8217;s U.S. operations from Chinese parent ByteDance to American ownership.</li>



<li>Similarly, Oracle Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ORCL#NYSE">ORCL</a>) was up 0.72% and Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DELL#NYSE">DELL</a>) was 1.11% higher as Larry Ellison and Michael Dell would also be taking part in the TikTok transfer deal.</li>



<li>Snap Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNAP#NYSE">SNAP</a>) jumped 7.48% after a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/09/47782003/snap-stock-surges-nearly-12-in-a-week-on-record-volume-boosted-by-new-os-launch-continued-tiktok-uncertainty">strong week as retail interest increased</a> in the trending stock with the launch of its operating system 2.0 last week.</li>



<li>Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSTR#NASDAQ">MSTR</a>) slipped 2.83% as Michael Saylor <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/25/09/47782119/michael-saylor-says-this-is-the-reason-why-bitcoin-is-stuck-sideways-and-not-breaking-out">explained the reason</a> for Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) moving sideways and not breaking out.</li>



<li>Newmont Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NEM#NYSE">NEM</a>) was up 1.80% as the firm announced it has completed the sale of common shares of Orla Mining Ltd.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Commodities, Gold, And Global Equity Markets</h2>



Crude oil futures were trading higher in the early New York session by 0.16% to hover around $62.50 per barrel.



Gold Spot US Dollar rose 1.01% to hover around $3,722.37 per ounce. Its last record high stood at $3,722.47 per ounce. The U.S. Dollar Index spot was 0.13% lower at the 97.5200 level.



Asian markets closed mixed on Monday; Hong Kong's Hang Seng and India&#8217;s S&amp;P BSE Sensex indices fell. Whereas, China&#8217;s CSI 300, Australia's ASX 200, Japan's Nikkei 225, and South Korea's Kospi indices rose. European markets were lower in early trade.

Stock Market Today: Dow, Nasdaq 100 Futures Slip After A Stellar Week—Fox, Oracle, Dell In Focus On TikTok Investment

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) has updated its website, illustrating that customers can still avail the IRA Federal EV credit even if they take delivery of the car beyond the September 30 deadline.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tesla Confirms Updated IRS Terms</h2>



The company updated the wording on its website on Sunday, which now confirms that customers can avail the credit even if they order their vehicles by September 30. However, the terms only apply to cash purchases of the vehicle.

The website suggests that customers leasing their vehicles would still need to take delivery on or prior to the September 30 deadline to qualify for the $7,500 EV credit.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">IRS Updates EV Credit Terms</h2>



The news comes as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced a series of revisions to its terms about the Federal EV credit. The updated terms now stipulate that customers can take delivery of the vehicles after the September 30 deadline and still avail the incentive as long as they "sign a binding purchase contract and issue a payment." Payment can include a nominal down payment or a trade-in, the IRS confirmed on its website.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">California May Offer EV Incentives Beyond Deadline</h2>



Meanwhile, the California government is mulling offering <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/08/47250753/california-could-still-offer-ev-incentives-despite-trump-ending-7500-federal-credit-as-gavin-newsom-doubles-down-on-electric-mobility">incentives on EVs</a> beyond the Federal Credit deadline via "backfilling" as state governor Gavin Newsom doubled down on greener mobility. "The credits could be offered in the form of &#8220;point-of-sale rebates, vouchers, or other credits,&#8221; the government said.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tesla's Q3 Delivery Expectations</h2>



Tesla, meanwhile, is expected to surpass Wall Street estimates of its Q3 deliveries, which led to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/09/47755468/gary-black-says-tesla-stock-will-go-higher-predicts-decline-in-q4-we-expect-tsla">a stock surge</a>. However, experts like Gerber Kawasaki's co-founder Ross Gerber warn that it <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/09/47660913/teslas-good-news-could-end-in-2-weeks-followed-by-long-winter-says-ross-gerber-amid-tsla-stock-rally">could be temporary</a>, as Q4 deliveries without the incentives could decline.

Tesla Says You Can Avail EV Credit Even If You Take Delivery After September 30 Deadline: Here's How

President Donald Trump will meet with a select group of Arab and Muslim leaders to discuss potential strategies for resolving the Gaza conflict. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Trump to Meet Arab Leaders on Gaza, West Bank Annexation</h2>



The meeting is scheduled to take place ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu&#8216;s visit to the White House on September 29, as <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/09/21/trump-israel-gaza-arab-summit-united-nations?ref=biztoc.com">reported</a> by Axios on Sunday. The meeting is expected to address the recent wave of Western countries recognizing the State of Palestine and Israeli threats of annexing parts of the occupied West Bank.



The White House has issued invitations for a meeting set for Tuesday at 2:30 pm ET, inviting the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York.



Reports indicate the White House is seeking their input on a post-war plan for Gaza and the potential deployment of a stabilization force to take over from the Israeli military.



Trump is also slated to meet separately on the same day with leaders from several Persian Gulf nations—Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Israel Strike On Gulf, Palestinian State Tension Prompt Meeting</h2>



The meeting comes in the wake of a recent Israeli attack on Hamas leaders in Qatar, which Trump&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/09/47587402/donald-trump-very-unhappy-about-israels-attack-on-hamas-in-qatar-but-hes-not-surprised-im-not-thrilled">expressed dissatisfaction</a>&nbsp;with but was not surprised by. This attack was the first of its kind on a Gulf country, prompting concerns from other Gulf nations, who are seeking&nbsp;assurances from the Trump administration&nbsp;that such attacks will not&nbsp;recur.



Also, on Sunday, Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal recognized a Palestinian state, a move driven by frustration over the Gaza conflict and aimed at advancing a two-state solution, provoking a strong reaction from Israel. Bitcoin dived below $115,000 overnight, breaking below its seven-day simple moving average. The trading volume rose 12.53% to $25.47 billion in the last 24 hours.



Ethereum also plunged to a low of $4,328 in overnight trading, while trading volume spiked 27%.



Both market heavyweights have delivered a strong third quarter so far, posting returns of 7.67% and 74.4%, respectively, surpassing their average gains for the period.



Over $520 million was liquidated from the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours, with long liquidations accounting for $449 million.



Bitcoin&#8217;s open interest dropped 0.95% in the last 24 hours to $82.80 billion. The majority of Binance futures traders with open BTC positions were still long on the leading cryptocurrency.



The market slipped into the "Fear" zone from "Neutral," according to the Crypto Fear &amp; Greed Index.

Stock futures ticked lower overnight Sunday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures fell 81 points, or 0.17%, as of 8:38 p.m. EDT.&nbsp; Futures tied to the S&amp;P 500 dipped 0.09%, while Nasdaq 100 Futures slid 0.03%.



Precious metals moved the other way, with Spot gold rising 0.58% to an all-time high of $3,727 per ounce, and spot silver gaining 0.08% to $43.1163 per ounce.



The market is coming off a strong week, with the Nasdaq Composite and Dow surging 1.49% and 0.73%, respectively, buoyed by the Federal Reserve&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/management/25/09/47732684/fed-rate-cut-what-it-means-for-your-mortgage-crypto-investments-savings-account-auto-loan-and-student-loan">quarter-point interest rate cut</a>.



This week, the personal consumption expenditures price index, considered the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, will be in the spotlight.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bitcoin To Hit $150,000 In Q4?</h2>



Widely-followed cryptocurrency analyst and trader Michaël van de Poppe said he "wouldn&#8217;t be surprised" with a 1-2 week correction before rallying again.



"Be flexible, have liquidity on the sidelines to be buying the dip on BTC &amp; ETH," Van De Poppe said.

Ted Pillows, angel investor and cryptocurrency market observer, echoed these forecasts, anticipating a 10%-15% correction that will "flush out greedy longs" in Bitcoin.

U.S. stock futures inch lower on Sunday night after touching record highs on Friday, following the Federal Reserve&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/09/47779360/consumer-tech-news-sep-15-sep-19-fed-rate-cut-lifts-wall-street-to-records-as-meta-unveils-smart-glasses-nvidia-intel-forge-chip-pact">rate cuts</a> last week, amid hints of more easing in the coming months. 



All three major indices are currently in the red, with&nbsp;Nasdaq Futures&nbsp;down 0.06%, or 15.75 points, trading at 24,851.00, while the&nbsp;S&amp;P 500 Futures&nbsp;are down 0.10% and 6.50 points, at 6,716.00, followed by the&nbsp;Dow Jones Futures&nbsp;at 46,582.00, down 0.15% or 69 points.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gold Hovers Around Record Levels</h2>



Gold prices continue to hover around record levels, trading at $3,696 per ounce at the time of writing this, with leading analysts and experts predicting more gains as the Fed&#8217;s dovish stance gives rise to inflationary fears. 



Economist Peter Schiff said last week that investment bank Morgan Stanley (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MS#NYSE">MS</a>) has revised its &#8220;classic 60/40 portfolio,&#8221; which essentially involves 60% allocated to equities and 40% to bonds, with part of the bond share now allocated towards gold. 



Schiff said that if investors start following this advice, &#8220;both long-term interest rates and gold prices are headed much higher.&#8221;



According to Schiff this is tantamount to Morgan Stanley issuing a &#8220;Sell&#8221; rating to U.S. Treasuries, which he says, could not have come at a worse time, since &#8220;the U.S. Treasury needs to issue more Treasuries than ever before.&#8221;

One Reddit user dropped a <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/AITAH/comments/14pynpt/aitah_husband_accused_me_of_financial_infidelity/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=mweb3x&amp;utm_name=mweb3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button">story in r/AmItheA&#x2A;&#x2A;hole</a> that has readers wondering if her husband's anger says more about control than cash.



The couple, both 33, have been together since college and by any measure are crushing it financially. They each <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42173927/how-rich-are-you-find-out-whether-you-rank-as-upper-middle-or-lower-class-based-on-income-and-other-factors">earn close to $200,000 a year</a>, wiped out student loans years ago, inherited a mortgage-free house, and have 18 months of living expenses socked away. They even max out their 401(k)s. In other words, no one here is living paycheck to paycheck.

To keep the peace, they agreed to a hybrid financial system: joint accounts for household bills, savings, vacations, and big purchases — but also "fun money" accounts where each spouse could spend without scrutiny. He tends to splurge on golf, designer clothes, and sports memorabilia. She's a runner, baker, and reader who rarely drains her allotment.



That difference in habits led to a pile of savings in her fun account. Recently, she decided it was time to treat herself. The purchase? A brand-new gaming setup — PC, desk, and chair — for about $5,000.



Her husband's reaction was not "enjoy your new hobby." It was fury.



"He says he had no idea I had saved so much money and that I should have consulted him before spending $5K," she wrote. He went further, accusing her of "financial infidelity," claiming her ability to quietly build up that account was a breach of trust.

He also wanted to enforce a new rule — no more than $2,000 could be held in fun accounts. Any extra would funnel back to joint savings, a rule that, as she pointed out, favored him since he burns through his allotment every month.



"I feel like I am being punished for being more of a day-to-day saver than spender," she explained.



Reddit readers had a field day with his "financial infidelity" accusation. "Financial infidelity my a&#x2A;&#x2A;," one person said. "He is just jealous that you save enough for a nice new setup! He is being absolutely ridiculous. Do NOT return it and put it in the joint for him to waste."



Others cut to the core: "The only reason it is [an issue] is because your spouse thinks he should have a say in your spending (read: freedom)," another wrote.



Many saw it less as money management and more as manipulation. "It's funny that he's accusing you of financial infidelity when he's trying to manipulate you into handing over money you saved. This is a naked money grab," one reply said.

The OP clarified that she wasn't hiding anything deliberately. She typically spends about $500 of her $1,500 fun allowance each month, letting the rest quietly stack up. To her, that's the point of separate accounts: no one gets to dictate whether she bakes bread or buys a graphics card.



Research backs up the idea that money secrets — even from discretionary accounts — can erode trust. A <a href="https://news.northeastern.edu/2024/09/13/financial-infidelity-research/">study from Northeastern University</a> found that when one partner isn't honest about spending or hiding money/savings, couples report significantly lower relationship satisfaction.



Another poll by the <a href="https://www.nefe.org/news/2021/11/2-in-5-americans-admit-to-financial-infidelity-against-their-partner.aspx">National Endowment for Financial Education</a> revealed that about 43% of Americans with combined finances admit to some form of financial deception — hiding purchases, income, or debt. And it's not just about hiding debt — it can also be hiding savings or side income.



That means this story isn't just about a $5,000 gaming setup. It's about expectations, trust, and whether "fun money" still belongs solely to the person who earns it — or whether silence about it is seen as betrayal.



Sometimes the best fix isn't another rule about money, but sitting down together — maybe even <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/smartasset">with a financial advisor</a> — to agree on boundaries before resentment costs more than cash ever could.

The Taliban&#8217;s top military commander has rejected President Donald Trump&#8216;s call for the return of the Bagram air base to US control. The commander warned of a strong reaction to any form of hostility.



The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Fasihuddin Fitrat, dismissed Trump&#8217;s demand during a state-run TV event in Kabul on Sunday. Fitrat stressed on Afghanistan&#8217;s sovereignty and its capability to govern itself without any foreign intervention.



"Afghanistan is fully independent, governed by its own people, and not dependent on any foreign power," Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-20/trump-presses-afghanistan-to-return-bagram-air-base-to-us?srnd=homepage-americas">quoted </a>Fitrat saying at the event. "We do not fear any bully or aggressor."



Previously, Trump had warned the Taliban-led nation with &#8220;BAD THINGS&#8221; through a <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115238745589536576">post </a>on Truth Social if it did not adhere to his demand. 



This was subsequent to his remarks during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where he mentioned that the US is trying to regain control over the base.

Let's start with SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), the ETF that tracks the S&amp;P 500.



Over the summer, we saw a powerful move from just under 600 in late May to around 660 by mid-September. That's a clean 10% run, and more importantly, it happened during a stretch that's historically known for low volume and choppy price action.



That matters because summer rallies tend to be fragile. But when they hold into September, they often lead to a strong fourth quarter.



We've seen this movie before, and with SPY now consolidating above its June breakout level, the market could be setting up for an October treat for investors and traders alike.&nbsp;



And here's where it gets even more interesting.



iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>), the ETF that tracks long-term Treasury bonds, is rallying too. Over the past few weeks, it has risen from the mid-80s to above 90.



Normally, when stocks rise, bonds fall — and vice versa. But right now, we're seeing both move higher at the same time.



That&#8217;s because the market has been sniffing out something important: a federal interest rate cut. We've already seen signs of weakening labor data and downward revisions in economic reports. And on Wednesday, the Fed cut rates by one-quarter point for the first time since December 2024.



This is a rare alignment, and one that could bring lots of opportunities as we move toward the end of the year.



Now let's talk about energy — specifically, oil.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The $72 Level On Oil Could Be A Trigger</h2>



United States Oil Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USO#NYSE">USO</a>), the oil ETF, spent the summer in a wide chop zone between the mid-70s and mid-80s. But as we've moved into September, that range has tightened. And right now, $72 is the level I'm watching. Specifically, if USO breaks below $72, it opens the door to a fast slide into the high 60s.



What's important here isn't just the price action — it's the context.



Seasonally, oil tends to weaken after July. And with energy no longer leading headlines (despite escalating global tensions), a breakdown here could drag related stocks lower and create opportunities for put trades.



This is one of those trades where the trigger is clear — and the follow-through could be quick.



Let's move on to gold.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gold Just Quietly Hit Inflation-Adjusted All-Time Highs</h2>



SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), the gold ETF, has climbed more than 10% since summer began. That alone is notable. But what's important is that, adjusted for inflation, gold has now hit a new all-time high.



What&#8217;s even more interesting is that there's been almost no retail euphoria. Zero. Zilch. No ad blitzes, no gold-rush headlines, no mainstream FOMO.



That lack of hype is bullish. And it tells me that smart money is still rotating into gold as a safe haven, especially with real yields beginning to decline.



And now that the Fed has cut rates, gold could move even higher — especially if the dollar rolls over.



Last but definitely not least, let's talk about big tech.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tesla And The &#8216;Mag 7&#8217; Are Pointing To A Supercycle</h2>



Tesla (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) jumped big on the news of a $1 billion insider buy from Elon Musk. And Alphabet (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) became the fourth company to cross the $3 trillion market cap.



All of this is captured in the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#BATS">MAGS</a>), which tracks the Magnificent 7. That ETF is now up 20% since June.
