Gurman indicated that the new phone will act as a &#8220;testing ground for future technologies.&#8221;
The iPhone 17 Air is&nbsp;predicted to be &#8220;about 2 millimeters thinner&#8221; than existing iPhones, consistent with Apple&#8217;s custom of launching slimmer versions of its devices, as evidenced by&nbsp;the MacBook Air and iPad&nbsp;Air. 
The phone&#8217;s thinness is not merely a design choice; it is a strategic step towards the creation of future foldable iPhones and iPads.
In addition, the iPhone 17 Air could potentially be among the first devices to incorporate Apple&#8217;s proprietary cell modem, codenamed Sinope. The iPhone lineup for this year is also anticipated to introduce Apple-designed Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chips.

Kevin O'Leary's Worst 'Shark Tank' Investment Ever Cost Him $500,000 Because He Ignored The Red Flags – 'The Lesson Is, Listen To Your Gut'

The founder and chairman of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/high-times">Hightimes Holding Corp</a>., the company that publishes High Times magazine, has agreed to plead guilty to joining a criminal conspiracy to pay more than $150,000 in undisclosed compensation to an analyst for an investment newsletter that touted its stock and assisted Hightimes in raising at least $6 million, officials said Friday.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/adam-levin">Adam Levin</a> was charged last month with one federal count of conspiracy to tout securities for undisclosed compensation. In a plea agreement filed Dec. 20, Levin agreed to plead guilty to the felony offense, <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/chairman-high-times-parent-agrees-plead-guilty-scheme-give-undisclosed-payments">according</a> to the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office.
Levin, who purchased the iconic cannabis magazine in 2017 following the death of its original owner of 40 years, the late <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/21/06/21654862/michael-kennedy-late-civil-rights-attorney-and-high-times-chairman-remembered-in-documentary-pre">Michael J. Kennedy</a>, ESQ, is scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles federal court on Jan. 14.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Money Laundering And Pay To Play</h2>
Levin is the fourth defendant to be charged in the scheme in which companies paid an analyst at Palm Beach Venture, an investment newsletter with subscribers nationwide. That analyst, Jonathan William Mikula along with his associate, Christian Fernandez, who acted as a money launderer for the scheme and Raj Beri who brokered deals for undisclosed payments by other issuers, each received a portion of the payments. Mikula, Fernandez and Beri each pleaded guilty last year and are scheduled to be sentenced in July 2025.
The payments made by executives such as Levin were in exchange for Palm Beach Venture publishing promotional pieces for securities offerings, according to court documents. Federal law requires full and public disclosure from anyone who has received payment, directly or indirectly from an issuer for publishing, publicizing or circulating any advertisement or communication that describes the issuer&#8217;s security offered for sale.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">$20 Million From &#8216;Investor-Victims&#8217;</h2>
According to Levin's plea agreement, in 2020 and 2021 "Hightimes raised approximately $20 million from more than 10 investor-victims, with at least $6 million in investment proceeds associated with Palm Beach Venture's promotion."
To conceal the scheme, noted the Attorney&#8217;s Office, Levin entered into a sham &#8220;marketing agreement&#8221; and routed the payments through a Canadian bank to a shell company in Canada, according to the plea agreement.
Mikula then caused Palm Beach Venture to promote Hightimes&#8217; securities offering on April 6 and Sept. 23 in 2020 in articles that falsely stated, &#8220;Neither the Palm Beach Research Group nor its affiliates receive compensation for bringing this deal to you,&#8221; the plea agreement states.
Levin also admitted that he lied to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission when he denied knowing that he entered into a &#8220;pay-for-play arrangement,&#8221; court papers show.
The FBI is investigating the matter.

High Times Magazine Executive Pleads Guilty In Securities Fraud Scheme - $20 Million From 'Investor-Victims'

President Joe Biden signed the Social Security Fairness Act into law on January 5. "Americans who have worked hard all their lives to earn an honest living should be able to retire with economic security and dignity," President Biden <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2025/01/07/remarks-by-president-biden-at-signing-of-the-social-security-fairness-act/">said at the signing</a>. "That's the entire purpose of the Social Security system crafted by Franklin Delano Roosevelt nearly 90 years ago."
Nearly three million people will feel the immediate impacts of this law, many of whom are retired public employees or their surviving spouses. The <a href="https://www.cbo.gov/system/files/2024-09/hr82.pdf">Congressional Budget Office</a> estimated that eliminating the WEP would boost 2.1 million beneficiaries' monthly payments by an average of $360. It also estimated that ending the GPO would increase monthly benefits by an average of $700 for 380,000 spouses and $1,190 for 390,000 surviving spouses.&nbsp;

This retired teacher struggled without her full Social Security benefits. President Biden celebrated Eliseo's dedication during the signing ceremony, saying, "Your grandmom would be proud."
The bill's passage marked a rare moment of bipartisan cooperation. During the ceremony, President Biden thanked members of both parties for their efforts, including Sen. Susan Collins and Rep. Abigail Spanberger. He credited labor leaders and other advocates who pushed for the change over decades. Millions Of Public Employees To See Boosted Social Security Payments After Biden Signed Social Security Fairness Act Into Law

The most expensive home in California&#8217;s Pacific Palisades, owned by Luminar Technologies (NASDAQ: LAZR) CEO Austin Russell, has been ravaged by the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.
What Happened: According to a Saturday report by The Daily Mail, the $125 million mansion fell victim to the Palisades Fire. The fire, still ablaze, has already destroyed over 10,000 buildings, taken two lives, and wiped out several historic landmarks.
The mansion, a key setting in the HBO&#8217;s popular series &#8220;Succession,&#8221; was previously on the rental market for a whopping $450,000 per month.
According to the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14272855/mansion-role-tv-series-succession-reduced-rubble-la-fires.html">report</a>, Russell purchased the property in 2021 for $83 million. Luminar Technologies, part of the Zacks Automotive &#8211; Original Equipment industry, reported revenues of $15.49 million. The earnings report reflected a positive surprise of 15.79%. In 2023, the company was projected to report a $0.20 loss per share but instead posted a smaller-than-expected loss of $0.18, delivering a 10% earnings surprise at that time.
However, the company missed consensus revenue estimates for the past four consecutive quarters.

The&nbsp;only way to increase burns, they said, is to enhance&nbsp;Shibarium utility so that more&nbsp;SHIB get destroyed through BONE gas fees via&nbsp;the automated mechanism introduced last&nbsp;year.

What Happened: The blockchain data tracker Whale Alert tracked 10 distinct high-value Bitcoin transactions. These transactions included the movement of Bitcoin between unidentified wallets and major exchanges such as&nbsp;Kraken,&nbsp;Binance, and&nbsp;Robinhood.
As per the <a href="https://whale-alert.io/transaction/bitcoin/ff789a9d88de7786c68a20fd4042cda567689072c050ea95006d91b318ce7457">data</a>, among these transactions, 620 BTC valued at $58,495,235, 888 BTC valued at $83,875,225, and 1,027 BTC valued at&nbsp;$96,745,111 were transferred from Kraken&nbsp;to unknown wallets. Furthermore, 1,164 BTC valued at $109,706,616 were moved between unknown wallets.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading at $94,568, up by almost&nbsp;1% in the last 24&nbsp;hours, and below its all-time high of $108,268 which reached on Dec. 17, 2024.

The town house – at 18 East 71st, a six-story, 12,060-square-foot home built in 1899 (according to Daytonian In Manhattan) – just steps from Central Park, was a surprise gift to his wife, Camille. It was a savvy buy. However, the home had a troubled history from the start of Cosby&#8217;s ownership. According to the L.A. Times, the couple accused their lawyer, Mary Waller – who oversaw the purchase – of stealing millions of dollars from them. Three years after closing on the home, the Cosbys put the property in the name of Camille&#8217;s mother, according to the New York Observer.
According to Yahoo, the couple has not made a mortgage payment since June and owes over $300,000 in taxes on the home. This latest default follows another – allegedly on a $4.2 million loan on a four-story Lenox Hill home they have owned since 1980, according to business website Crain's.
