Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STLA#NYSE">STLA</a>) shares are trading higher on Thursday. The company partnered with Infineon Technologies AG (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IFNNY#OTC">IFNNY</a>) to develop the power architecture for its electric vehicles, supporting the goal of providing clean, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/g41805368/infineon-and-stellantis-team-up-to-advance-innovation-in-power-conversion-and-distribution-for-nex" rel="noreferrer noopener">safe, and affordable mobility</a>.
As per the deal, Stellantis and Infineon Technologies have signed significant supply and capacity agreements to lay the foundation for their collaboration on next-generation power architecture.

Prior reports indicated Taiwan Semiconductor&#8217;s plans to launch 28 nm or 22 nm planar CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) technology and 16 nm or 12 nm FinFET (fin field-effect transistor) processes.
Wu told the Taipei Times that the total trade between Taiwan and Germany in 2023 topped $22 billion.

Taiwan Semiconductor Strengthens Europe's Semiconductor Base

Malaysia&nbsp;aims to attract at least 500 billion ringgit ($107 billion) in investments&nbsp;for&nbsp;its semiconductor sector, Prime Minister&nbsp;Anwar Ibrahim&nbsp;has reportedly said.
The&nbsp;planned investments are&nbsp;targeted at&nbsp;integrated circuit design, advanced packaging, and semiconductor chip manufacturing equipment, reported Reuters.
Malaysia&nbsp;plays&nbsp;an important&nbsp;role in the semiconductor market, contributing to 13% of global testing and packaging.&nbsp;Major firms, including&nbsp;Intel&nbsp;Corp&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>) and&nbsp;Infineon&nbsp;Technologies AG&nbsp;(OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IFNNY#OTC">IFNNY</a>), have made substantial investments in the country&nbsp;in recent years.
Prime Minister Anwar also highlighted the goal of establishing at least ten local companies specializing in chip design and packaging, with projected revenues between $210 million and $1 billion.

Malaysia Targets Ambitious $107B Investment to Boost Semiconductor Sector

Infineon Technologies AG (OTCQX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IFNNY#OTCQX">IFNNY</a>), a leader in power systems and IoT, is strengthening its outsourced backend manufacturing footprint in Europe and announced a multi-year partnership with Amkor Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMKR#NASDAQ">AMKR</a>), a leading provider of semiconductor packaging and test services. Both companies have agreed on operating a dedicated packaging and test center at Amkor's manufacturing site in Porto. Operations are expected to commence in the first half of 2025.

Embracing Emerging Technologies To Bring The Automotive Industry To The Next Level

The European Central Bank (ECB) on Thursday held interest rates at 4%, signalling no policy action for the fourth-consecutive month and following in the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/federal-reserve">Federal Reserve&#8217;s cautious footsteps</a>.
Like the Fed, there was no major shift towards dovishness in the following press conference, where ECB president Christine Lagarde said that current levels of policy were being maintained &#8220;for a sufficiently long duration&#8221; to bring inflation back down to its 2% target.
The central bank did lower its inflation forecasts. The ECB now expects inflation to average 2.3% this year, down from December&#8217;s forecast of 2.7%, and sees the rate averaging 2% in 2025, down from 2.1%.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Market Reaction</h1>
Markets responded positively, with the higher-for-longer rates scenario boosting the euro against the dollar and expectations of rate cuts later in the year pushing stock prices higher.
ASML Holding NV (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>), Europe&#8217;s biggest company, and is a maker of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, gained 3.1% to $1,034. Europe&#8217;s biggest chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IFNNY#OTC">IFNNY</a>) gained 3% to $38.
ASML is the largest holding in the iShares MSCI Eurozone ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EZU#NYSE">EZU</a>), which climbed 1.3% to $50.34 following the ECB&#8217;s decision.

On foreign exchanges, the euro currency was supported against its rivals, up 0.5% against the dollar with one euro buying $1.2786.
The ProShares Ultra Euro ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ULE#NYSE">ULE</a>), an exchange-traded fund that tracks euro performance, was up 0.3% at $11.61.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Analyst Reaction</h1>
&#8220;All in all, today's meeting was a clear and well-structured meeting with an unambiguous&nbsp;message that for now, it&#8217;s&nbsp;too early to discuss rate cuts, but the time&nbsp;for that will come,&#8221; said Carsten Brzeski, global head of macro at ING.
&#8220;We think it will be in June. Let's hope that today's meeting will also end the cacophony of national central bankers commenting on the timing of future rate cuts, which has resembled something of a noisy atonal choir in recent weeks,&#8221; Brzeski added.
Althea Spinozzi, head of fixed income strategy at Saxo Bank, said: &#8220;The ECB inflation forecasts are bullish for EU bonds across tenors because they show inflation is not a problem and stagflation is intensifying. Thus, the ECB must engage in aggressive cuts soon to rescue the economy.&#8221;
Mohamed El-Erian, chief economic adviser at Allianz, said: &#8220;The market mover is that it notably revised down its 2024 inflation forecast on the back of more favorable non-services inflation. Market yields are lower as a result.&#8221;
A June rate cut from the ECB would time exactly with what&#8217;s expected from the Fed in the U.S. and would signal a policy shift that&#8217;s likely to be followed soon after by many developed market central banks.

European Central Bank Lowers Inflation Outlook But Holds Interest Rates: 2 Stocks, 2 ETFs To Watch

There&rsquo;s revolution, or better said, evolution, brewing on the EV battery front. Last year, Toyota Motor (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tm#NYSE">TM</a>) announced its plans of releasing an EV by 2028 that will recharge in only 10 min while traveling 1,000 kilometers.&nbsp;
But the fact that even the EV king, Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tsla#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) isn&rsquo;t providing updates on the battery front shows how daunting this pursuit is. After all, it&rsquo;s not only about a battery that gets recharged quickly, but also about packing as much possible energy into as little material and weight as possible and for that battery to have a long lifespan and for it to&nbsp;work well across a variety of temperatures.&nbsp;Moreover, that&nbsp;safety and assurance also needs to be affordable.
Recent reports showed that Tesla drivers had difficulties in cold weather, as batteries died in freezing temperatures while power stations either not working or taking longer than usual to charge EVs. Also,&nbsp;Recurrent&#39;s research&nbsp;showed that&nbsp;below-freezing temperatures&nbsp;reduced the&nbsp;driving range&nbsp;of 18 popular EV models up to as much as&nbsp;30%.
Although Tesla still doesn&rsquo;t have a complete&nbsp;answer for freezing weather, the pickup parts player, more precisely, tonneau cover maker, Worksport Ltd (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/wksp#NASDAQ">WKSP</a>) is taking action to address this issue with its products.
Worksport just revealed it joined forces with&nbsp;Infineon Technologies AG&nbsp;(OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ifnny#OTC">IFNNY</a>)&nbsp;to reduce weight and cost of portable power stations, ensuring power-dense converters for its COR system product line. Worksport developed COR, a portable battery system, together with SOLIS, a solar-powered tonneau cover. Unlike SOLIS, COR can be used independently, but it can also be integrated into a pickup truck. It can be recharged through a wall outlet or any solar panel.
Worksport has been rigorously testing its COR battery power system since November to ensure high performance in extreme situations, including extreme cold and hot climates, rigorous terrain, humidity. Worksport will also conduct shock tests to account for unforeseen events.
Empowered by Infineon, Worksport can create the next generation portable power stations with GaN power semiconductors. Worksport will use Infineon's GaN power semiconductors GS-065-060-5-B-A in the converters for its portable power stations to increase efficiency and power density. Enabled by Infineon's GaN transistors, the power converters will be lighter and smaller in size with reduced system costs. In addition, Infineon will support Worksport in the optimization of circuits and layout design to further reduce size and increase power density. &nbsp;
"Infineon's high-quality standard and solid supply chain provide us with the best components to ensure power-dense converters for our COR system product line and contribute to a first-class end product performance," said Worksport CEO Steven Rossi. The company's COR battery system can be integrated into a pickup truck or recharged by any solar panel or wall outlet. In a report, Chinese-language business daily Caixin said that silicon carbide wafer&nbsp;manufacturers will be the biggest beneficiary of the increasing competition between China&rsquo;s EV makers.
The report quotes a Chinese investment manager who declined to be named as a result of his position. Caixin is China&#39;s leading business daily and its reporters are closely networked with China government officials.&nbsp;
Caixin reports that high-quality SiC chips produced by international manufacturers vs. lower-quality Chinese wafers are increasingly hard to find, and that there is a pressure on supply.

If Li Auto alone wanted to use SiC chips in all its June delivery vehicles, it would need 5,000 six-inch SiC waifers which is more than any production line in China can supply in a month, Lu Xiaobao, managing director of China VC CAS Star told Caixin.

EU Nears Multi Billion Euro Chip Deal To Boost Domestic Presence In Semiconductor Chips

The largest US maker of memory chips gave hope that the industry slump might be coming to an end by issuing a better-than-expected outlook. Just hours before Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/mu#NASDAQ">MU</a>) released its better-than-expected guidance, German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ifnny#OTC">IFNNY</a>) also raised its own forecasts for the quarter and the full year on the back of stronger-than-expected automotive sales.&nbsp;&nbsp;
<h3>Fiscal Second Quarter Figures</h3>
For the quarter that ended on&nbsp;March 2nd, Micron saw its revenue drop 53% to $3.69 billion&nbsp;as a reflection of a weak demand for PCs and smartphones, making an adjusted&nbsp;loss of $1.91 a share as orders collapsed. Micron is on course to lose more than $3 billion this year, possibly labelling 2023 as the worst annual deficit since the company first went public in 1984. As&nbsp;part of its cost-reduction program, Micron will be trimming its workforce by about 15%, up from its previous 10% headcount reduction that was announced with a&nbsp;slowdown in innovation investments.
<h3>Fiscal Third Quarter Guidance</h3>
Sales are expected to amount $3.9 billion, exceeding analyst estimates of $3.75 billion as customer inventories are getting better and a gradual improvement is expected in the industry&rsquo;s supply-demand balance, suggesting the market is in for a comeback after a rough patch considered as the industry&rsquo;s worst downturn over the past 13 years.

While revenue is expected to improve sequentially during the second half of the year as end markets are contracting less severely, profitability will remain a challenge. Annual spending on new plants and equipment will be lowered by 40% to $7 billion.&nbsp;
<h3>An Unstable Environment</h3>
CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said that Micron delivered earnings for the second quarter that were in line with projections in a challenging market environment shaped by a steep dropped in demand as customers have been working through excess inventory. Chip manufacturers&nbsp;have been struggling with an exceptionally weak pricing environment while still recovering from pandemic-induced supply shortages while facing a global crisis brought on by the war in Ukraine.&nbsp;Micron&rsquo;s peers South Korea&rsquo;s Samsung Electronics Co. and SK Hynix Inc. SK have also suffered losses, and curbed expansion plans as a result, but Samsung&rsquo;s diversified business allowed it to remain profitable with ample cash to invest.
Dynamical fluctuations in the supply and demand balance often makes producers sell the components for less than the cost to make them, so despite shipping more computer memory chips, Micron still saw its revenue contract as prices dropped about 20%.
<h3>The Good Side</h3>
The industry now has a small number of competitors who are more focused on profits than gaining market share which is making the field more resilient. Also, memory chips now have a more diverse range of applications as they are present in almost everything. All in all, these factors enabled Mehrotra to state that Micron is able to provide more stability in earnings compared to previous downturns.&nbsp;
<h3>The Beaten Down Industry May Be On The Verge Of A&nbsp;Turnaround Thanks To AI</h3>
Mehrotra believes that Micron is well positioned to capitalize on opportunities that AI is bringing to the table, just like Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/amd#NASDAQ">AMD</a>), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/intc#NASDAQ">INTC</a>) and Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/nvda#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), which hosted its GTC developers conference last week. If Mehrotra is right, Micron would return to growth after three consecutive quarters of declines. Moreover, he believes that with further supply cuts,&nbsp;recovery could be accelerated.
