Jeffrey Roach, chief economist at LPL Financial, said the Fed&#8217;s decision was unsurprising, as policymakers are &#8220;in the midst of policy fog&#8221; while awaiting the impact of upcoming tariffs.

Economists React To Powell: 'We Are Now Seeing The Stag And The Flation'

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell indicated that inflation driven by new trade tariffs might be &#8220;transitory,&#8221; evoking comparisons to the Fed's 2022 misstep when it wrongly classified inflation as a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/03/44403637/fed-holds-rates-while-growth-forecasts-slip-inflation-projections-rise">short-lived phenomenon.</a>

Powell admitted it is &#8220;very challenging&#8221; to isolate tariff-driven inflation from broader price pressures. 



&#8220;Some of it—a good part of it—is coming from tariffs,&#8221; he said. The difficulty lies in tracking which price increases are directly tied to tariffs and which are due to other economic factors.



Tariff-related inflation could be &#8220;transitory&#8221;, Powell said, depending on how quickly it moves through the economy. If inflation expectations remain anchored and the effects fade, the Fed may opt to look past these price increases.



Yet, some of its effects are already visible.



&#8220;We have had two very strong goods inflation readings in the last two months, which is very unexpected,&#8221; Powell said, suggesting that businesses may be preemptively raising prices in anticipation of tariffs. 



A similar dynamic occurred when washing machines were tariffed in 2018—prices on both washers and dryers jumped, even though only one was subject to tariffs.



The Fed is also factoring in potential retaliatory tariffs from other countries. Staff forecasts assume &#8220;full retaliation,&#8221; though the exact economic impact remains uncertain. 



Powell indicated that &#8220;when we actually know the specifics, we will be able to have a better-informed forecast.&#8221;



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Powell Dismisses UMich Consumer Inflation Worries, Downplays Recession Fears</h3>



Recent surveys, including the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index, indicate rising uncertainty among households and businesses, with inflation expectations soaring sharply as economic players anticipate tariffs. 



Powell downplayed the University of Michigan report, calling it an &#8220;outlier&#8221; compared to other measures of long-term inflation expectations.



Despite rising inflation expectations, the Fed is still projecting two rate cuts in 2025. Powell said weaker growth and higher inflation are &#8220;balancing each other out,&#8221; leading policymakers to maintain their current stance.



&#8220;We think our policy is in a good place,&#8221; Powell said. 



Powell said that while some forecasters have slightly raised the probability of a recession, the risk remains &#8220;moderate&#8221; and &#8220;not high.&#8221; He noted that while survey data from businesses and households show increased uncertainty, the hard economic data—such as GDP growth and employment—remains solid.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Market Reactions: Stocks Rally, Bitcoin Tops $85,000</h3>



Risk sentiment rippled through risky assets after Powell&#8217;s remarks on Wednesday.



The S&amp;P 500 – as tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) – rallied 1.4% going into the closing bell, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100, tracked by the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), soared 1.8%. 



Small caps outperformed large-cap counterparts, with the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IWM#NYSE">IWM</a>) up 2%. 



Short-dated Treasury yields fell by 5 basis points to below 4% and the U.S. dollar index (DXY) trimmed session gains to 0.3%. Gold rose 0.5% to nearly $3,050 per ounce, further extending record highs. 



Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) soared 3.3% to above $85,000, hitting a 10-session high.

Stephanie Link: 'Amazon's Market Share is Soaring' – Insights On Amazon, Palo Alto Networks, Target & Nextera Energy

NVIDIA Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) analysts highlight the positives from CEO Jensen Huang's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/03/44383445/nvidia-ceo-jensen-huang-announces-gm-partnership-the-time-for-autonomous-vehicles-has-arrived">Tuesday GTC keynote</a>, including a focus on the company's roadmap and new products.

Bank of America on NVDA: Arya highlights Nvidia's "unmatched pipeline" and "unmatched roadmap" in a new investor note following Huang's GTC keynote.



The analyst said Nvidia's roadmap across compute, networking and software shows the company's opportunities in future years.



"Steady roadmap cadence in Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, Rubin Ultra advances platform-level AI performance," Arya said.



The analyst also highlighted the company's partnerships with companies like Google DeepMind, Disney Research and General Motors.



Stifel on NVDA: Updates on the next-gen Blackwell Ultra, Rubin and Rubin Ultra were key highlights for Roy in a new investor note.



"We continue to view NVDA's innovation on AI infrastructure positively within the backdrop of a broader accelerated computing market which is forecast to drive data center capex to ~$1T annually by the end of the decade," Roy said.



The analyst highlighted that Blackwell demand continues to be high with around 3.6 million GPUs sold to the top four CSPs in 2025, compared to 1.3 million Hopper GPUs in the peak year of 2024.



"Driving this strong demand is an inflection point in AI compute."



Roy sees Nvidia's opportunities coming from high-performance computing, hyperscale, cloud data center, enterprise and edge computing.



"We believe that NVDA is well positioned in markets that combine to yield an overall TAM of more than $100 billion exiting 2025 and a longer-term opportunity funnel that could approach $1 trillion."



Morgan Stanley on NVDA: Moore said Huang's GTC keynote highlighted a "very strong roadmap and strong growth potential."



"While there were no big surprises in the keynote aimed at developers, the company made a strong case that there will continue to be multiple waves of AI scaling requirements, that they are delivering product leadership through 2027, and that near term cloud demand is strong," Moore said.



The analyst said Nvidia's roadmap updates show the AI system scaling and opportunities for the company.



"We believe that the data strongly points to NVIDIA gaining share vs. ASIC and merchant competitors in 2025 and the early view into Rubin suggests that competing with them will not get easier in the next two years."



KeyBanc on NVDA: Huang's announcements were largely in line with expectations for GTC, Vinh said in a new investor note.



"NVDA continues to push the envelope on performance with its annual cadence roadmap, such that it remains the clear leader in AI," Vinh said.



The analyst highlights Blackwell Ultra being an incremental upgrade from Blackwell with key advancements.



Vinh also highlighted Nvidia's commentary on robotics being one of the most exciting sectors going forward, with a potential $50 trillion addressable industrial market.



Needham on NVDA: The updated data center roadmap was the key highlight for Bolton.



The analyst said Huang confirmed Blackwell Ultra is on track for the second half of calendar year 2025 and confirmed Blackwell is in full production.



"NVIDIA remains excited about the robotic industry as it expects this to eventually become a trillion dollar market," Bolton said.



Benchmark on NVDA: Acree said Huang's keynote was a solid way to start GTC with several positive announcements made.



"Jensen Huang's Keynote to kick off NVIDIA's annual GTC conference covered a lot of ground and seemed to check all the boxes," Acree said.



The analyst said Huang's keynote wasn't the savior for Nvidia's declining stock price, but there was likely little more the CEO could have done.



"We thought the Keynote was about as expected, with Jensen once again providing a masterclass overview of AI, with the sheer volume of announcements conveying the depth and breadth of industry engagement and enablement as NVIDIA continues to lay the foundation for the accelerating adoption of AI."



Rosenblatt on NVDA: Annual GPU introductions by Nvidia could push AI acceleration to new levels, Cassidy said in a new investor note.



"We see this annual cadence as a formidable moat to competition including ASICs and expanding NVIDIA's AI dominance," Cassidy said.



The analyst highlighted the $1 trillion opportunity for AI data center spending.



Partnerships with General Motors, Cisco and T-Mobile are also highlighted in Cassidy's investor note.



NVDA Price Action: Nvidia stock is up 1.5% to $117.19 on Wednesday versus a 52-week trading range of $75.61 to $153.13. Nvidia stock is down 16% year-to-date in 2025 and up 31% over the last year.

Betting Stat to Know: When looking for a winner from the 64 teams, many people will pick a 1-seed or a 2-seed as they have won the most tournaments.



Since expanding to the field of 64, one through three seeds have won over 85% of the time, with other winners often having some luck, an easier than expected field or fitting into strong offensive and defensive efficiency rankings.



Dating back to 1999,&nbsp;Ken Pomeroy&nbsp;has provided basketball rankings known as&nbsp;<a href="https://kenpom.com/index.php?s=RankAdjDE" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">KenPom&nbsp;</a>that take into account offensive and defensive efficiencies and also predicts which teams would win in matchups.

March Madness 2025: How To Watch, Betting Odds And The One Stat That Could Determine A Winner

With the SEC dropping its four-year lawsuit against Ripple, industry experts are examining whether Ripple (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/xrp/usd">XRP</a>) could overtake Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) in market capitalization, a feat that would require overcoming <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/03/44398151/ripple-ceo-announces-victory-as-sec-drops-appeal-in-xrp-lawsuit">significant market and structural challenges.</a>



What Happened: The legal resolution, confirmed by Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, has already driven XRP's price to $2.53, a 13% increase, according to data from CoinMarketCap, reflecting renewed investor confidence.



However, analysts remain cautious about XRP's ability to surpass Ethereum, which currently holds a circulating market cap of $246 billion compared to XRP's $146 billion, per CoinMarketCap data.



Garlinghouse on Wednesday announced the end of the legal battle, which began in December 2020, stating, "The case is over," and framing it as a "victory" against the SEC's aggressive stance, which he said cost XRP investors $15 billion. 



The lawsuit, filed under former SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, alleged that <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/03/44314642/ripple-sec-lawsuit-nears-end-will-xrp-be-classified-as-commodity-like-ethereum">XRP was an unregistered security</a>, a claim rejected by a federal judge in 2023, who ruled that XRP does not meet the legal definition of a security.



This decision, upheld through the SEC's recent withdrawal, has broader implications for the crypto industry, as it aligns XRP's regulatory status with Ethereum, which the SEC classified <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/03/44294333/xrp-gains-on-report-that-ripple-sec-case-could-end-soon">as a commodity</a> in 2018.



Garlinghouse criticized the SEC's approach, saying, "The SEC wasn't seeking justice—they were seeking to win a case at any cost," and noted that the ruling sets a precedent for future crypto regulations.

What Experts Are Saying: Sid Powell, CEO of Maple Finance, a decentralized finance platform managing $700 million in assets, views the SEC's decision as a positive development for XRP.



"The SEC win is positive for the price of XRP and signals a more cooperative and pro-innovation regulatory environment for crypto in the U.S.," Powell told Benzinga. 



He added that while institutional investors may have already factored in the news, retail traders could push XRP higher in the short term. 



Powell highlighted that XRP's fully diluted valuation has surpassed Ethereum's, but flipping its circulating market cap would be challenging due to Ethereum's $114 billion total value locked (TVL) in DeFi, despite recent concerns about TVL shifting to other Layer-1 blockchains.



Ryan Lee, Chief Analyst at Bitget Research, emphasized the broader impact of the ruling, stating that it "represents a turning point not only for Ripple but for the broader crypto industry." 



He pointed to potential growth drivers for XRP, such as increased adoption of Ripple's On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) service by financial firms and a more favorable U.S. regulatory stance, which could attract further investment. 



Lee noted that XRP briefly overtook Ethereum in market cap in 2018, but cautioned that Ethereum's strong fundamentals make a sustained flip unlikely without explosive adoption of XRP. 



Ripple's 2024 annual report noted that ODL processed $30 billion in transaction volume last year, with partnerships including Standard Chartered Bank and MoneyGram. 



Lee also recalled that XRP briefly surpassed Ethereum in market cap in January 2018, when XRP hit $3.84, but stressed that Ethereum's fundamentals, including its role in hosting 60% of DeFi's total TVL, make a sustained flip challenging without a dramatic increase in XRP adoption.



Adding to the sentiment, IOST Co-CEO Blake Jeong highlighted that the case's resolution signals "a potential softening of regulatory pressure on the industry." 



However, he noted that Ethereum also saw gains following the announcement and suggested that "XRP flipping Ethereum is still a long way off."



Slava Demchuk, CEO of AMLBot, warned that despite the positive momentum, "it takes more than a legal victory to flip ETH. ETH has a strong ecosystem, total TVL is over $114b + the gap between the capitalizations of ETH and XRP is $100b, for XRP to increase so much its capitalization needs much more than just a legal victory.&#8221;



He said the price of XRP may rise to $3 &#8211; $3.5, no more and that since the market is in a correction and the Fear and Greed index is at 20, it will not allow XRP to rise more than $3.5.

As widely expected, the Federal Reserve kept the fed funds rate unchanged at 4.25%-4.50% in its Wednesday meeting. This marked its second consecutive decision to hold borrowing costs steady as policymakers continue to assess inflation trends before <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/federal-reserve">considering any policy shifts.</a>



The March statement noted that the economy continues to expand at a robust pace, the labor market remains solid, but inflation remains somewhat elevated.



A new sentence in the statement emphasized that &#8220;uncertainty around the economic outlook has increased,&#8221; reflecting growing concerns about future risks.



The Fed also decided to lower the pace of quantitative tightening. &#8220;Beginning in April, the Committee will slow the pace of decline of its securities holdings by reducing the monthly redemption cap on Treasury securities from $25 billion to $5 billion,&#8221; the statement says. 



Governor Christopher Waller voted against reducing the rhythm of balance sheet tightening.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">New Projections Flag Rising Stagflation Risks</h3>



The key focus was on updated macroeconomic projections. Growth forecasts for 2025 were revised downward, while inflation expectations rose, signaling growing stagflation risks.



Real GDP is now projected to grow 1.7% this year, down from December's 2.1% estimate. Growth for 2026 was revised from 2% to 1.8%, and for 2027 from 1.9% to 1.8%. 



The unemployment rate projection ticked higher from 4.3% to 4.4% for 2025, while projections for 2026 and 2027 have been kept unchanged. 



The Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, is expected to reach 2.7% in 2025, up from 2.5% previously. Broader price pressures for 2026 were also revised higher, from 2.1% to 2.3%.



Core PCE, which strips out food and energy costs to provide a clearer view of underlying inflation, was adjusted upward from 2.5% to 2.8% for 2025.



The median forecast for interest rates continues to pencil in two rate cuts for both 2025 and 2026. Fed Chair Jerome Powell will hold his press conference at 2:30 p.m.

Fed Holds Rates While Growth Forecasts Slip, Inflation Projections Rise (CORRECTED)

According to Bank of America Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BAC#NYSE">BAC</a>) CEO Brian Moynihan, Federal Reserve policy should remain steady despite concerns about economic uncertainty. On Wednesday, he said the Fed should be &#8220;a little cautious about cutting,&#8221; citing economic growth of around 2% and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/tariffs">ongoing tariff adjustments. </a>



&#8220;It would seem that maybe they'd want to hold on to the firepower that they've built up over the last year or so,&#8221; Moynihan told CNBC during a &#8220;Squawk Box&#8221; <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/03/19/bank-of-americas-ceo-says-economic-growth-is-better-than-people-think-and-the-fed-should-stay-on-hold.html">interview</a>. He added, &#8220;They shouldn't be premature to try to boost the economy when it's growing at 2%.&#8221;



What Happened: Moynihan described the 2% GDP growth projection as &#8220;trend growth,&#8221; noting that such expansion aligns with economic targets following the financial crisis. 



He emphasized that despite rising concerns about inflation and slowing confidence levels, spending data indicates economic resilience. &#8220;We see the consumer continue to be solid, and that should bode well for the economy,&#8221; he said.

On the broader economic picture, Moynihan acknowledged that President Donald Trump&#8217;s tariffs would likely reduce growth by about 0.4 percentage points in the near term, CNBC reports. Despite this, he remained confident that the economy will stabilize.



&#8220;Right now, we're not talking about what could happen,&#8221; Moynihan said. &#8220;We're talking about what is happening. The consumer continues to spend pretty strongly for the first part of this year.&#8221;



Why It Matters: Consumer behavior data from BofA Securities supports Moynihan&#8217;s optimism. A recent survey by BofA Securities showed an increase in home improvement spending expectations from 27% last year to 31% in March 2025, the highest since May 2024. Plans for family growth have also improved, with intentions to have a baby rising from 9% to 12%.



Meanwhile, The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index fell 7 points to 98.3 in February, its steepest decline since August 2021. Risk sentiment shows signs of recovery by midday trading in New York, as investors anxiously await the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting at 2:00 p.m., hoping that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will offer reassuring remarks on the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s">strength of the economy</a>.



The Federal Reserve is widely expected to keep the fed funds rate unchanged between 4.25% and 4.50% for the second consecutive meeting, likely emphasizing the need for further clarity on inflation trends before considering any <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/03/44364688/feds-march-meeting-expected-to-signal-no-hurry-on-rate-cuts-as-powell-likely-to-tread-carefully">easing of monetary policy. </a>

Stocks, Dollar Rise Ahead Of Fed Meeting, Boeing Eyes Best Day In Nearly 2 Years: What's Driving Markets Wednesday?

The latest market downturn has left many investors questioning whether this is a temporary dip or the beginning of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets">a prolonged bear market.</a>



Yet, an eye-opening indicator suggests that opportunities may be more abundant than feared—95% of S&amp;P 500 stocks currently hold a median analyst price target above their latest trading price, signaling significant upside potential across the board.



Notably, two Magnificent Seven stocks—Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>)—rank among the top when comparing the gap between Wall Street&#8217;s median price target and current prices, a quite uncommon event for tech giants that traditionally trade at valuation premiums.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Is This A Market Bottom Or A Value Trap?</h3>



The S&amp;P 500 officially entered correction territory last week, leaving investors to wonder whether the worst is over or if further downside awaits.



Ed Yardeni, president of Yardeni Research, has been one of the more bullish voices on Wall Street. Last week, he raised his probability of a bearish scenario from 20% to 35%. That forecast includes the possibility of a recession or stagflation—a combination of stagnant growth and inflation.



Yardeni also acknowledged the possibility that a bear market may have begun on Feb. 20, the day after the S&amp;P 500 reached a record high. This shift in sentiment led him to lower his year-end 2025 S&amp;P 500 target from 7,000 to 6,400.



From a technical standpoint, only 41% of S&amp;P 500 stocks are trading above their 200-day moving average, signaling that most have fallen below a key trend support level, potentially confirming a bearish phase.



Yet, long-term market data provides a reason for optimism. 



Jeffrey Buchbinder, chief equity strategist at LPL Financial, points out that market corrections—defined as a decline of 10% or more—occur every 1.1 years on average, dating back to 1928. 



&#8220;Corrections also tend to produce attractive buying opportunities&#8221;



Since 1950, the S&amp;P 500 has experienced an average intra-year drawdown of a negative 13.7%, yet it has still managed to post an average annual gain of 9.5%, with 73% of those years ending in positive territory. 



Even in years when the index experienced an intra-year decline of 10% to 20%, the average annual return was still 8.4%, with 64% of those years finishing higher.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Which Stocks Have The Biggest Upside?</h3>



Based on current analyst price targets, several stocks stand out for their potential gains. 



Deckers Outdoor Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DECK#NYSE">DECK</a>) leads the list, with a median price target nearly 95% higher than its last price. First Solar Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FSLR#NASDAQ">FSLR</a>) follows closely, with a projected upside of 93%.



Notably, Tesla and Nvidia, two of the most closely watched growth stocks, also rank high on the list. Analysts see Tesla's price target at $371.50, representing a 64.9% upside, while Nvidia's median price target sits at $175, implying a 51.6% gain from current levels.

Analysts See Upside For 95% Of S&P 500 Stocks: How Nvidia, Tesla Stack Up

Mortgage applications took a sharp 6.2% dive last week as rising interest rates pushed refinance demand lower, according to the latest data from <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s">the Mortgage Bankers Association. </a>



In a report released Wednesday, the MBA said its Market Composite Index—a key measure of mortgage loan application volume—dropped 6.2% on a seasonally adjusted basis for the week ending March 14. On an unadjusted basis, the index was down 6%.



All eyes are now on the Federal Reserve's policy announcement later on Wednesday, which could set the tone for interest rates and housing affordability in the months ahead.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why Did Mortgage Applications Fall?</h3>



The primary driver behind the decline was a jump in mortgage rates. After nine consecutive weeks of declines, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate rose to 6.72%, up by 5 basis points from last week. 



The MBA's Refinance Index plunged 13% from the prior week, though it remained 70% higher than the same period last year. 



Refinancing activity accounted for 42% of total mortgage applications, down from 45.6% the previous week. Adjustable-rate mortgages, which tend to see higher demand when fixed rates rise, made up just 6.7% of all applications.



Despite the broader decline, home purchase applications showed resilience, with the seasonally adjusted Purchase Index edging up 0.1% from the prior week. On an unadjusted basis, purchases rose 1% and were 6% higher than a year ago.



"Mortgage rates increased for the first time in nine weeks, with the 30-year fixed rate rising to 6.72%," said Mike Fratantoni, MBA's SVP and chief economist.

The 10-year Treasury yield stood at 4.29%, while the two-year yield was at 4.05%. According <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">to</a> the CME Group's FedWatch tool, there is a 99% chance that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates unchanged.

"No rate change is expected," noted senior economist at WisdomTree, Jeremy Siegel ahead of the Federal Reserve&#8217;s decision, adding that the dot plot will be updated. The market is pricing in two rate cuts this year, he says, but he's "not convinced that the Fed will fully signal that just yet."



Furthermore, Siegel anticipates Powell will face intense scrutiny regarding declining market sentiment and inflation concerns.



He believes market direction hinges on the tariff situation; further escalation by President Donald Trump could trigger a significant downturn, potentially a &#8220;bear market&#8221;. Regarding Big Tech, Siegel argues current valuations, excluding Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), are high but not bubble-like, unlike the 2000 tech boom.

In 2023, the agency <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchhstp/budget-funding/index.html#cdc_program_funding_fund_by_cat-how-is-cdc-funding-used-for-hiv-viral-hepatitis-stis-tuberculosis-prevention" rel="noreferrer noopener">allocated</a> approximately $1.3 billion to combat HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, and tuberculosis. Roughly 75% of those funds support state and local health departments, nonprofits, and other organizations engaged in disease prevention and outbreak response.



"No final decision on streamlining CDC's HIV Prevention Division has been made," the WSJ report <a target="_blank" href="https://www.wsj.com/health/healthcare/trump-administration-weighing-major-cuts-to-funding-for-domestic-hiv-prevention-8dcad39b" rel="noreferrer noopener">added</a>, citing the department's spokesman.



Gilead filed for regulatory approval of lenacapavir for PrEP (twice a year) last year and expects a potential <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/25/02/43673047/gilead-ups-2025-outlook-eyes-lenacapavir-launch-for-hiv-prevention" rel="noreferrer noopener">commercial launch in 2025</a>.&nbsp;



Gilead also&nbsp;revealed that it is developing a once-yearly injectable formulation for lenacapavir. In its investor presentation, the company expects&nbsp;the pivotal Phase 3 pharmacokinetics study's first patient to be in 2025, and potential regulatory filings will <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42468692/gilead-unveils-new-yearly-hiv-injection-to-offer-hope-for-less-frequent-preventive-dosing" rel="noreferrer noopener">begin in late 2027</a>.
