• In 1989, just 58% of older households had debt. By 2016, that number had jumped to 71%.
• Households led by individuals 65 and older saw their debt rise from 41.5% in 1992 to 60% in 2016.

Can You Guess What Percent Of People Retire With No Debt? Hint: The Majority Aim To Do So, But Less Than 25% Succeed

As the Los Angeles County Palisades Fire remains largely uncontained, a well-known real estate figure in the city speculated about Pacific Palisades&#8217; <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/real-estate/reit/25/01/42951473/real-estate-stock-to-watch-after-los-angeles-wildfires">real estate future</a>.
Celebrity realtor Josh Altman <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxbPnxJum7Y&amp;ab_channel=TMZ">told</a> TMZ on Thursday that he expects around half of Palisades residents to move elsewhere in the coming years. Altman says former residents &#8220;seeking normalcy&#8221; will move to Brentwood, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. Santa Monica was also <a href="https://smdp.com/breaking-news/evacuation-order-lifted-for-santa-monica/">evacuated</a> due to the fires.
Altman said his clients are interested in moving either south to Orange County or out of the state entirely.
The Million Dollar Listing star says real estate activity has picked up from homeowners seeking to sell their land.
&#8220;I&#8217;m negotiating almost a dozen deals right now on land in the Palisades,&#8221; Altman said. &#8220;People are already trying to sell their dirt, knowing that they&#8217;re not going to go back there, to homebuilders that will then build their house and either keep it or sell it.&#8221;
As a prominent real estate agent, Altman directly profits from real estate transactions. That includes the sale of properties in areas affected by the fire. His statements about the future of the Pacific Palisades market and the motivations of homeowners to sell could influence market perceptions and drive behavior that benefits his business.
Some Palisades residents <a href="https://abc7ny.com/post/pacific-palisades-families-lose-homes-wildfire-vow-rebuild-were-going-end-ok/15801236/">told</a> ABC News that they plan to rebuild their homes. They estimate that it&#8217;ll be a year before they&#8217;re able to move back. But Altman estimated that rebuilding efforts could take up to four or five years.
As of Friday, the Palisades fire is 31% contained. Nearly 24,000 acres were burned, <a href="https://www.latimes.com/wildfires-map/?fire=palisades">according</a> to the Los Angeles Times.

The company will report fourth-quarter financial results on Feb. 12, which could be an early indictor of how investors feel about the company's future growth. Analysts expect earnings per share to hit $1.24, up from $0.49 in last year's fourth quarter and revenue to hit $1.26 billion, up from $953.2 million in last year's fourth quarter. The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in six straight quarters and revenue estimates in seven of the last eight quarters.

Quantum Computing Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QUBT#NASDAQ">QUBT</a>): One of the hottest sectors in 2024 and early 2025 for investors has <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/01/42879725/nvidia-ceo-sends-quantum-stocks-lower-poll-finds-over-50-pick-rigetti-or-skip-for-2025">been quantum computing</a>. After a strong performance in 2024, Quantum Computing Inc saw shares fall on comments from NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and a short report. The Capybara Research <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/01/43052999/quantum-computing-stock-drops-over-3-during-friday-premarket-amid-fraud-allegations">alleges </a>Quantum Computing is using misleading press releases that exaggerate the company's businesses.
"Quantum Deception. QUBT Is a rampant fraud. We are short and think shareholders will be left with nothing when all is done," Capybara Research said.
Huang sent shares of stocks in the sector lower recently when he said that quantum computing applications could be 20 years away. Comcast broadcast one of the opening round games of the 2024 NFL Playoffs with the match between the Washington Commanders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/sports/25/01/43013529/amazon-scores-record-with-steelers-ravens-nfl-playoffs-stream-how-game-stacks-up-with-other-media-streamers">having an average</a> of 29 million viewers. Comcast will also air the second-round matchup of the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. ET.
