The dental products and materials maker derives 70% of its revenue from China, but plans to use IPO proceeds for a new production base in Indonesia

If they frown on you in one market, then maybe they'll smile in another.
That seems to be the attitude of dental products maker&nbsp;Huge Dental Ltd., which has given up on plans to list on China's domestic A-share markets in Shanghai and Shenzhen after efforts over the past decade went nowhere. Now, the company is hoping for a warmer greeting in Hong Kong with its&nbsp;<a href="https://www1.hkexnews.hk/app/sehk/2025/107132/documents/sehk25021900956.pdf">new application</a>&nbsp;to list on the city's the stock exchange filed late last month.
Huge Dental wasn't completely out of luck when it came to Chinese Mainland listings. The company once listed on the Beijing-based over-the-country style National Equities Exchange and Quotations (NEEQ) board as early as April 2015. But it delisted two years later amid thin trading.
It aimed to graduate to the majors with its July 2017 application to list on Shenzhen's Nasdaq-style ChiNext board for growth companies but terminated that application two years later. Not one to give up so easily, it tried again in 2019, this time on Shanghai's then-newly launched STAR market, also for growth companies, but failed once more.
Those repeated setbacks never wiped the smile from Huge Dental's face, as it hopes its third try at the big leagues will be the charm. It could very well have better luck this outing, as Hong Kong has typically been far friendlier to this type of consumer-style listing, unlike the ChiNext and STAR markets that prefer sexier growth sectors like tech and new energy.
Huge Dental's listing document shows it was founded in 2006 by Song Xin, now 52. Its main business is divided into three categories: dental clinical products, like impression-taking materials and resin adhesive materials; dental laboratory products, which mainly refers to denture restoration materials; and dental digital products. The vast majority of its revenue, around 97%, comes from the first two categories.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Improving margins</h4>
Huge Dental is China's largest manufacturer of elastomeric impression materials and synthetic resin teeth, based on revenue in 2023, according to third-party market data in the company's listing document. The broader dental industry has been feasting for the last decade on a new Chinese middle class that can now afford such small luxuries as dentures and other forms of synthetic teeth.
As the sector expanded, Huge Dental's revenue grew 28% from 280 million yuan ($38.6 million) in 2022 to 358 million yuan in 2023. Its revenue continued growing last year, though at a slower pace, rising 14% year-on-year to 304 million yuan in the first nine months of 2024. Its net profit similarly rose 38% from 64 million yuan in 2022 to 88.4 million yuan in 2023. The growth continued at a slower rate last year, up 6.6% in the first nine months of 2024 to 77.7 million yuan. Perhaps most importantly, the company's gross margin has also climbed steadily from 54.9% in 2022 to 59.2% in the first nine months of last year.
Huge Dental sells its products in more than 60 countries and regions, though nearly 70% of its revenue comes from its home China market. Its other major markets are Europe, accounting for about 12% of revenue, and North America, at about 10%. It plans to use IPO proceeds to buy land in Indonesia, where it wants to construct a new factory that will serve as a strategic base to further its global expansion.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">National policy dividend</h4>
Huge Dental is lucky to be selling into the right environment, especially as many consumer sectors suffer in China's economic slowdown. On a global scale, a worldwide aging population and growing awareness of dental health have caused demand for dental medical supplies to rise sharply, valued at $37.8 billion in 2019 and expected to reach $83.7 billion in 2030, according to the listing document. China's market is especially buoyant, rising from 43.4 billion yuan in 2019 to 60.7 billion yuan in 2023, and expected to grow 15.5% annually from then to reach 166.7 billion yuan in 2030.
Government policy support has helped to boost the industry in China, with oral health recognized as a priority in the country's "Healthy China 2030" initiative. The government has encouraged development of domestically made, self-developed dental materials to nurture local brands and ween the country off imported products commonly used in the past. Huge Dental is a big beneficiary of such policies.
As Chinese brands begin to rise, they have lured away customers who traditionally bought imported products by offering prices that are generally 30% to 50% lower than those for the imports. At the same time, the domestic names are also rapidly closing the divide with foreign products in terms of quality.
A case in point is the recent unseating of U.S.-based&nbsp;Invisalign&nbsp;(ALGN.US), king of the invisible braces market, by homegrown&nbsp;Angelalign&nbsp;(6699.HK) in the Chinese market. In 2021, Angelalign's 41.1% share of China's invisible braces market made it king of the hill ahead of Invisalign, which has been in second place ever since.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Fierce competition</h4>
China is currently Huge Dental's mainstay, but that doesn't mean the domestic competition isn't fierce, both from emerging local and well-known global brands. Given skepticism about domestic technologies in general, Huge Dental may need to give more clinical data about its product performance and disclose more information about its patents to win over foreign investors.
To stand out from the crowd, the company must show it is constantly working to improve its products to stay ahead of rivals. In that regard, its digital dental products business might have a greater role to play in executing such a strategy. While that part of its business currently accounts for only 0.8% of its revenue, Huge Dental is planning to step up its development of intraoral scanners, 3D printers, 3D printing materials and AI-driven diagnostic tools to provide dentists with better diagnostic and treatment solutions.
Of the two major dental stocks currently listed in Hong Kong, Angelalign's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 184 times is inflated by its small profit, making it an inappropriate reference. A more suitable comparison is&nbsp;Modern Dental&nbsp;(3600.HK), whose P/E stands at just 9 times. Huge Dental may be more conservative in the valuation it seeks since it's smaller than Modern Dental and could otherwise face difficulties attracting investors.
While an attractive valuation could win over investors to its IPO, the company will need a more compelling story to keep such investors over the longer run. Such a story could show the potential for "high-quality domestic substitution + digitalized products," as two major growth drivers headed into the future.

China's Huge Dental Files For Hong Kong IPO

On Tuesday, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/03/44084767/taiwan-semiconductor-weighs-100-billion-us-investment-as-chip-war-heats-up" rel="noreferrer noopener">contract chipmaker</a> Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) announced plans to invest an additional $100 billion in advanced semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S.
Building on the company&#8217;s ongoing $65 billion investment in its advanced semiconductor manufacturing operations in Phoenix, Arizona, Taiwan Semiconductor&#8217;s total investment in the U.S. will likely reach $165 billion. The expansion includes plans for three new fabrication plants, two advanced packaging facilities, and a significant R&amp;D team center.

The contract chipmaker expects to create hundreds of billions of dollars in semiconductor value for AI and other cutting-edge applications. The expanded investment will likely support 40,000 construction jobs over the next four years and create tens of thousands of high-paying, high-tech jobs in advanced chip manufacturing and R&amp;D.
It will likely drive over $200 billion of indirect economic output in Arizona and across the U.S. in the next decade, the company said.
Taiwan Semiconductor&#8217;s Arizona fab currently employs more than 3,000 people on 1,100 acres of land in Arizona. The site has been in volume production since late 2024.
U.S. President Donald Trump has been a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/02/44013241/taiwan-semiconductor-faces-government-scrutiny-on-overseas-ventures-amid-intel-stake-rumors" rel="noreferrer noopener">critic of Taiwan</a> since his presidential campaign days for accusing them of allegedly stealing American semiconductor business. He promised action against the country and threatened retaliatory tariffs because of Taiwan&#8217;s large trade surplus with the U.S.
IDC expects the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42480928/taiwan-semi-set-to-command-67-foundry-market-share-idc" rel="noreferrer noopener">Taiwanese contract chipmaker</a> to command a 67% share of the global foundry market in 2025, up 300 bps year over year.

Meanwhile, Big Tech giants remain&nbsp;aggressively invested in&nbsp;their AI ambitions.&nbsp;Apple Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), a key Taiwan Semiconductor client, committed over $500 billion to AI and advanced manufacturing.

Taiwan Semiconductor Doubles Down On US Chipmaking, Plans $165 Billion Investment

Plug Power, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PLUG#NASDAQ">PLUG</a>) shares are trading lower premarket on Tuesday after the company <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/03/g44096388/plug-power-announces-continued-cash-flow-improvement-and-progress-on-path-to-profitability" rel="noreferrer noopener">reported fourth-quarter&nbsp;results</a>.
The company reported&nbsp;revenue of&nbsp;$191.5 million, missing <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">analyst&nbsp;estimates&nbsp;of&nbsp;$263.2 million</a>.
The company reached a pivotal milestone in electrolyzer deployments, expanded its hydrogen network, and enhanced the utilization of its manufacturing facilities.
Electrolyzer revenue escalated 583% Y/Y, aided by 5-MW system sales and a large-scale order deployment.
Customer warrant charges stood at $22.7 million, impacted by updated forecasts and the timing of customer programs.
In the fourth quarter, operating cash flow improved 46% year over year (Y/Y), led by margin expansion and better working capital efficiency.

In the quarter, the company reported a gross margin loss of 122%, reflecting a strategic deceleration in investments for mobility, high-power stationary applications, and product development.
Despite the significant improvement in cash burn, the company said it determined that the strategic actions to temper the investment pace on certain platforms, coupled with the fact that certain markets are developing slower than expected, collectively resulted in accounting conclusions to record varied non-cash impairments of certain long-lived and intangible assets.
The company recorded $971.3 million in non-cash charges for asset impairments and bad debt provisions in the fourth quarter on strategic shifts and market demand pushouts.
These impairments are expected to lower future depreciation and amortization by an estimated <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">$55 million – $60 million in 2025</a>.
Plug CEO Andy Marsh said, &#8221;While we made great strides in improving cash flows in 2024, it is clear based on market dynamics that we have to make additional strides, therefore we are initiating Project Quantum Leap to further position Plug for success in the near and long term by continuing to leverage the platforms we have built while further optimizing the Company.&#8221;
Plug Power expects Project Quantum Leap to reduce annual expenses in the range of $150 million to $200 million.
These measures are expected to include additional reductions in the workforce over the coming weeks, furthering its rooftop facility consolidations, additional reductions in discretionary spending, additional reduction and leveraging of inventory, and limiting capital expenditures to near-term critical requirements.
The company expects that taking these actions will further improve margins and cash flows and accelerate the path to profitability.&nbsp;
As of 2024, unrestricted cash stood at over $200 million. The company expects cash burn in 2025 to continue to significantly improve.

Investor anxiety over tariffs loomed as the March 4 deadline for tariff imposition on Mexico and Canada neared. President Donald Trump indicated on Monday that there was &#8220;no room left&#8221; for tariff negotiations with Canada and Mexico. He will be addressing the Congress today, which is expected to give further clarity on tariffs and other policies.
Meanwhile, the Treasury yields slipped further on Tuesday. The 10-year Treasury yield stood at 4.16%, while the two-year yield was at 3.93%. According to the CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a>, there is a 91% chance that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates unchanged for the March meeting.

Cues From The Last Session
Real estate, consumer staples, health care and utilities were the only sectors that advanced on Monday. The market witnessed the second worst trading day of March ever as information technology, energy, consumer discretionary, and materials led the decline.
On the economic front, February&#8217;s S&amp;P final U.S. manufacturing PMI came in at 52.7 as compared to the preliminary reading of 51.6. This was at a 32-month high signaling an improvement in the health of the manufacturing sector.
The ISM Manufacturing PMI rose to 50.3 in February 2025, indicating a second consecutive month of slight expansion for U.S. manufacturing. In January, private residential construction spending decreased by 0.4%, with notable reductions in both multifamily construction and home improvement expenditures.

Ryan Detrick of Carson Research noted that historically, stocks average a 28% gain a year after such high bearish readings, although exceptions like 2008 exist. He observed that even at a 55% bearish threshold, returns are generally strong.
Detrick suggests that barring a financial crisis, which he deems unlikely, "investors willing to stay strong and not panic sell" could see significant gains, with the S&amp;P 500 averaging nearly 13% higher in six months and 18% in a year following similar sentiment spikes.
Talking about the effects of Trump's policies on the market, the chairman and CIO of Navellier &amp; Associates, Louis Navellier said, "The volatility is certainly being fed by Trump 2.0 moves, with tariffs scheduled to be launched soon,"
Economist Jeremy Siegel, on the other hand, stated that investors are taking profits on high-flying tech and reconsidering value stocks. However, he added that slowing economic growth could hamper the value stocks as well. "In a weakening economy, all stocks face challenges, though dividend-paying and more defensive equities may benefit from lower interest rates," he added.
