The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed a decline in the overall market sentiment, while the index moved to the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Tuesday.



U.S. stocks settled mostly lower on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 150 points during the session following a series of letters from the White House to major trading partners, outlining sweeping new tariffs.



Shares of ProKidney Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PROK#NASDAQ">PROK</a>) jumped 515% on Tuesday after the company reported statistically and clinically significant topline results from its Phase 2 REGEN-007 trial evaluating Rilparencel in patients with chronic kidney disease and diabetes.



On the economic data front, the US Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index increased 1.6% month-over-month for June, following a 1.4% decline in May. The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index fell to 98.6 in June from 98.8 in May and compared to market estimates of 98.7.



Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a negative note, with consumer staples, utilities and financial stocks recording the biggest losses on Tuesday. However, energy and materials stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.



The Dow Jones closed lower by 166 points to 44,240.76 on Tuesday. The S&amp;P 500 fell 0.07% to 6,225.52, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.03% to 20,418.46 during Tuesday's session.



Investors are awaiting earnings results from Theratechnologies Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/THTX#NASDAQ">THTX</a>), AZZ Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AZZ#NYSE">AZZ</a>) and Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MEI#NYSE">MEI</a>) today.



What is CNN Business Fear &amp; Greed Index?



At a current reading of 74.3, the index moved to the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Tuesday, versus a prior reading of 75.2.



The Fear &amp; Greed Index is a measure of the current market sentiment. It is based on the premise that higher fear exerts pressure on stock prices, while higher greed has the opposite effect. The index is calculated based on seven equal-weighted indicators. The index ranges from 0 to 100, where 0 represents maximum fear and 100 signals maximum greediness.

What Happened: Bitcoin rallied to an intraday high of $109,198.97, recouping losses from Monday&#8217;s sell-off. Ethereum broke above $2,600 but failed to sustain the rally



Institutional interest continued to grow, as iShares Bitcoin Trust&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IBIT#NASDAQ">IBIT</a>)&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/25/07/46291817/blackrocks-bitcoin-etf-just-overtook-michael-saylors-mstr-now-holds-nearly-700000-btc">surpassed&nbsp;</a>Strategy Inc.‘s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSTR#NASDAQ">MSTR</a>) BTC holdings.



Over $115 million was liquidated from the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours, with short position traders losing more. A further $260 million in Bitcoin perpetuals risked liquidation if the apex cryptocurrency rose to $111,000.



Bitcoin's open interest rose marginally by 0.52%. Notably, the majority of top traders on Binance were positioned short as of this writing.



The "Greed" sentiment persisted in the market, according to the Crypto Fear &amp; Greed Index.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $3.37 trillion, following a 1.16% increase in the last 24 hours.



Stocks were a mixed bag on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 165.60 points, or 0.37%, to end at 44,240.76. The S&amp;P 500 was little changed, closing 0.07% lower at 6,225.52. The tech-focused Nasdaq Composite gained 0.03% to end at 20,418.46.



Trump stated via Truth Social that the Aug. 1 deadline for tariffs remains <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114818149310161097">unchanged</a>, and no extensions will be given. He also <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/07/46305321/copper-price-surges-trump-tariffs-stocks-july-2025">announced a 50% tariff</a> on copper imports, pushing the industrial metal to record highs.



Tuesday&#8217;s sideways movement came after markets fell on Monday after Trump&#8217;s announcement of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/07/46281204/wall-street-today-trump-tariffs-japan-south-korea-stocks-drop">sweeping 25% tariffs</a> on all imports from Japan and South Korea beginning Aug. 1.

Analyst Notes: Blockchain analytics firm Santiment highlighted a surge in bullish retail crowd sentiment as Bitcoin sits above $108,500.



"Be cautious while crowd FOMO is pouring in, as it can often lead to short-term corrections," Santiment remarked.

Widely followed technical analyst and trader Urkel said Bitcoin's path to $120,000-$130,000 will be smoother once it breaks above a "silly little wall" around $112,000.



"Just needs a big push," the analyst added.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin Recover Even As Trump Reiterates August Tariff Deadline: Analyst Sees Move To $120,000-$130,000 If BTC Breaks Above This 'Silly Wall'

Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) founder and executive chairman, Jeff Bezos, has continued his selling spree in the company, offloading a fresh tranche of $666 million this week.

What Happened: According to a Form 4 filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, Bezos disposed of roughly 2.97 million shares in the e-commerce giant, across two transactions dated July 3 and July 7, at average prices of $223.73 and $223.92 per share, respectively.



The transactions were executed under a pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 trading plan adopted in March 2025, which is essentially designed to allow corporate insiders to sell shares at predetermined times and volumes, without raising concerns of insider trading.

Following the transaction, Bezos still holds over 902 million shares in Amazon, or just under 10% of its total outstanding shares, worth $197 billion at current market prices.



This comes just weeks after Bezos tied the knot with long-time partner, Lauren Sánchez, in a star-studded <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/events/25/06/46136092/jeff-bezos-lauren-sanchez-wedding-draws-star-studded-guest-list-to-venice-here-are-the-celebs-who-showed-up-so-far">$50 million wedding</a> in Venice two weeks ago. 



Why It Matters: Over a week ago, Bezos <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/large-cap/25/07/46212089/jeff-bezos-sells-737-million-worth-of-amazon-stock-just-days-after-lavish-venetian-wedding">sold another tranche</a> of the company&#8217;s shares, worth $737 million, as part of the same pre-arranged trading plan.



According to a 10-Q filing made in May, Bezos <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/insider-trades/25/05/45175915/jeff-bezos-to-unload-almost-5-billion-in-amazon-stock-filing">plans to sell shares</a> worth $5 billion in the company, through May of 2026, aimed at funding his space exploration company, Blue Origin, alongside other ventures and charitable organizations. 



Bezos&#8217; net worth currently stands at $240 billion, according <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/billionaires/profiles/jeffrey-p-bezos/">to</a> the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with his holdings in Amazon making up a significant chunk of it. The rest comes from his ownership of Blue Origin, which has been marked on a cost-of-investment basis.



Price Action: Shares of Amazon were down 1.84% on Tuesday, trading at $219.36, and are up 0.13% after hours.

Jeff Bezos Offloads Nearly $666 Million In Amazon Stock — Adds To Post-Wedding Sell-Off Streak

Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) has reportedly acquired a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/07/39867045/metas-34-year-to-date-surge-and-a-5-stake-in-essilorluxottica-transform-ray-ban-smart-glasses-and-re">minority stake</a> in EssilorLuxottica (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ESLOF#OTC">ESLOF</a>).



What Happened: Meta has acquired nearly 3% of EssilorLuxottica, the French-Italian eyewear giant behind brands such as Ray-Ban and Oakley, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-08/meta-invests-3-5-billion-in-essilorluxottica-in-ai-glasses-push">reported</a> Bloomberg on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.



The stake is worth approximately €3 billion ($3.52 billion) at current market prices and comes amid Meta's growing ambitions in the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/43114842/meta-expands-ai-wearables-with-oakley-smart-glasses-camera-equipped-earbuds-in-development">wearable tech space</a>.

This comes after the popularity of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which launched in 2023 and have reportedly sold millions of units. Mark Zuckerberg-Led Meta Acquires Nearly 3% Of Ray-Ban, Oakley Parent EssilorLuxottica In $3.5 Billion Deal: Report

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) CEO Elon Musk has spoken out about the &#8220;Big Beautiful Bill&#8221; backed by President Donald Trump and Congress on several occasions. The bill will make it <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/07/46283137/trump-vs-bezos-how-big-beautiful-bill-may-wreck-20k-ev-dream">more expensive for consumers</a> to buy electric vehicles and provide less credits for EV companies.



One analyst says the bill will hurt Tesla in more ways than one. &nbsp;



The Tesla Analyst: William Blair analyst Jed Dorsheimer downgraded Tesla stock from &#8220;Outperform&#8221; to &#8220;Market Perform&#8221; in a recent investor note. The analyst does not have a price target on the stock.

The Analyst Takeaways: The recently passed "Big Beautiful Bill" could be "too much" for Tesla stock to overcome, Dorsheimer said in a new investor note.



The analyst said the removal of the $7,500 EV tax credit for consumers was expected, but the elimination of the corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) fines was less expected and requires a reset.



"While the $7,500 tax credit is likely to affect demand, the combination of a demand headwind and over $2 billion in profit from regulatory credits at risk may be too much for investors to bear," Dorsheimer said.



The loss of the EV $7,500 tax credit could negatively impact demand for Tesla vehicles among consumers. The removal of regulatory credit revenue could directly hit Tesla's profitability, the analyst adds.



"No More CAFÉ Fines, No More Credit Buyers."



The analyst said the bill eliminates market demand for Tesla's credits. The company earned $2.8 billion from selling these credits in 2024, making up 16% of its total gross profit.



Dorsheimer estimates that 75% of Tesla's regulatory credit revenue is related to the CAFE standards and now gets zeroed out in 2027.



The analyst stated that the removal of the $7,500 consumer tax credit could lead to an increase in unit volumes in the third quarter and put pressure on the fourth-quarter figures.



Along with the weakened demand and lower profits from regulatory credits, the analyst cites Musk's political push as a potential distraction for the electric vehicle company.



"We expect that investors are growing tired of the distraction at a point when the business needs Musk's attention the most and only see downside from his dip back into politics."



The analyst said Tesla stock now trades at an enterprise value of 76 times its lowered 2026 EBITDA estimates.



Risks for Tesla from the analyst include competition, geopolitics and "key-man risk" with Musk.



TSLA Price Action: Tesla stock was up 1.3% Tuesday to $297.81 versus a 52-week trading range of $182.00 to $488.54. Tesla stock is down 20.4% year-to-date in 2025.

The same pattern seen during AMD's 2022–2023 comeback is playing out again, noted The Long Investor on X &#8211; pullbacks to key moving averages followed by powerful rebounds.

Technically speaking, AMD is sitting above its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages—typically a bullish setup. AMD At $135? That Just Might Be The Launchpad

Wall Street may already be sitting near record highs, but Goldman Sachs believes the rally still has legs—thanks to lower yields, mega-cap momentum and the Fed's return to cutting rates, the bank now sees the S&amp;P 500 hitting <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/expert-ideas">6,900 in the next 12 months.</a>



In a new note Monday, David J. Kostin, chief U.S. equity strategist at Goldman Sachs, said he expects the S&amp;P 500 – as tracked by the Vanguard S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VOO#NYSE">VOO</a>) – to climb to 6,400 in three months, a gain of 3%, 6,600 by year-end, up 6%, and 6,900 within 12 months, an 11% increase.



That's a significant boost from their previous targets of 5,900, 6,100 and 6,500, respectively—and well above the median consensus forecast of 5,975.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why The Upgrade? Think Fed Cuts And Big Tech</h3>



Goldman's forecast shift is built on three key assumptions: earlier and deeper Fed cuts, lower bond yields and the staying power of mega-cap earnings.



The bank now expects the Federal Reserve to cut rates three times within one year, starting in September, followed by two more in 2026. Their rates team sees the 10-year Treasury yield ending 2025 at 4.2%, down from a prior estimate of 4.5%.



According to Goldman, "every 50 basis point decline in real yields is associated with a roughly 3% increase" in the S&amp;P 500's forward price-to-earnings ratio.



Strong first-quarter results from mega-cap names also gave Goldman more confidence that tech leaders can "sustain current investor expectations for their long-term growth."



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Market Breadth Still Narrow, But That May Change</h2>



Despite the record highs, most stocks still lag behind. 



Goldman said the "median constituent remains more than 10 percent below its 52-week high," pointing to extremely narrow market breadth.



The Invesco S&amp;P 500 Equal-Weight ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RSP#NYSE">RSP</a>) still trades 3% below its record highs hit in late November 2024. 



But rather than a correction, Goldman sees a potential shift in leadership. "We believe a ‘catch up' is more likely than a ‘catch down'" as laggards start to recover in the coming months.



Notably, the recent rally has been unusually sharp: since the April low, the S&amp;P 500 is up 25%, ranking above the 99th percentile of three-month returns in the past 50 years.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Earnings Steady For Now, But Tariffs Cloud Outlook</h3>



Goldman is sticking with its earnings growth forecasts of 7% for both 2025 and 2026. Still, Kostin indicated uncertainty tied to the evolving tariff landscape, which could pressure margins.



"The shifting tariff landscape creates large uncertainty around our earnings forecasts," he said, though large-cap firms appear buffered by inventory and cost strategies.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3 Investment Plays for the Second Half of 2025</h3>



Goldman is positioning for a rally that broadens beyond mega-caps. The firm outlined three key trade ideas:

Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) is <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/nvidia" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">trading close</a> to its 52-week high of $161 on Tuesday. The stock has seen a notable increase this year, rising almost 18% year-to-date and gaining over 64% in market value in the last three months.

Several recent events have influenced Nvidia&#8217;s valuation. This move is a response to Washington&#8217;s chip tariff policies, leading TSM to delay the construction of its second plant in Japan to prioritize its growing American footprint.

These U.S. sanctions had previously compelled Nvidia to halt H20 chip exports to China on April 9, resulting in a $4.5 billion first-quarter charge for Nvidia, attributed to excess inventory and purchase commitments. Loop Capital issued the highest forecast at $250 on June 25, 2025, while Seaport Global gave the lowest at $100 on April 30, 2025. The latest ratings from Citigroup (July 7), Mizuho (July 3), and Loop Capital (June 25) average a forecast of $208.33, suggesting a potential upside of 30.65% for Nvidia based on those recent views.

Nvidia Outpaces Market With AI-Powered Growth, Nears Record Highs

U.S. stocks were little changed on Tuesday as investors stayed cautious following a series of letters from the White House to major trading partners, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/tariffs">outlining sweeping new tariffs. </a>



The real market action unfolded in commodities, with copper surging 10% after President Donald Trump announced a 50% tariff on copper imports starting today.



The industrial metal jumped to $5.52 per pound, hitting a new all-time high and marking its biggest one-day gain since October 2008.



During a Cabinet meeting, Trump stated: "Some letters are at a 60%, 70% rate.&#8221; He said to be announcing new tariff measures on pharmaceuticals — possibly a 200% tariff.



He added that trade relations with China have been "very fair" recently, noting a strong working relationship.



While Trump reiterated openness to trade negotiations, he emphasized that the U.S. will not extend the August deadline for reciprocal tariffs to take effect.



Commenting on the European Union, Trump said: "The EU has been speaking to us. President von der Leyen has been very nice lately, but they've treated us badly until recently. We're probably two days away from sending the EU letter. A letter is a deal."



At 1:40 p.m. ET, the S&amp;P 500 was flat at 6,220, the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.1% to 22,710, while small caps led the way with the Russell 2000 rising 0.9%.



Energy stocks outperformed as oil prices climbed 1.4% for a second straight session, topping $68 — a two-week high.



Treasury yields also moved higher, with the 10-year rising five basis points to 4.43% and the 30-year yield climbing to 4.96%.



The U.S. dollar remained steady, while gold fell 0.8% to $3,308 per ounce. Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) traded around $109,125.

Quantum computing firm&nbsp;IonQ Inc. &nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IONQ#NYSE">IONQ</a>) saw a price target hike from Benchmark after the company successfully raised $1 billion through an equity offering at $55.49 per share, a notable 25% premium to the closing price last Thursday.

What Happened: Bitcoin slipped to an intraday low of $107,527.06 but recovered to $108,000 by late evening. Trading volume rose 18% in the last 24 hours, signaling high selling pressure.



Ethereum wobbled around $2,500, reaching an intraday low of $2,517.90 in the afternoon.



Bitcoin's market dominance increased to 64.5%, while the shares of Ethereum and other altcoins declined.



In the past 24 hours, 76,424 traders were liquidated, with total liquidations at $164.05 million. More than $115 million in bullish longs were wiped out.



Meanwhile, more than 60% of Binance derivatives traders with open BTC positions were short as of this writing.



The "Greed" sentiment weakened from 73 to 65 in the last 24 hours, according to the Crypto Fear &amp; Greed Index.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $3.35 trillion, sliding 0.40% in the last 24 hours.

On-chain analytics firm CryptoQuant drew attention to Bitcoin's bounce above the 365-day Simple Moving Average, a level that has historically served as strong support.



"Historically, as long as MVRV stays above its SMA365, the uptrend tends to continue," CryptoQuant added.

The U.S. dollar is notching its strongest one-day gain against the Japanese yen in nearly two months as traders react to President Donald Trump's sweeping new tariffs targeting <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/07/46281204/wall-street-today-trump-tariffs-japan-south-korea-stocks-drop">multiple U.S. trading partners.</a>



Starting Aug. 1, all goods imported from Japan and other Asian trading partners will face a 25% tariff, Trump announced Monday, citing persistent trade imbalances and unfair practices.



The move follows a 90-day pause for negotiations that fell short of providing a better outcome than the &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; duties on April 2. And now, the fallout is landing hard.



The dollar surged past 146 yen, gaining 1.2% on the day—its sharpest move since May 12. 



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Markets Shake As White House Sends Tariff Letters To Trading Partners</h3>



In an official letter to Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Trump stated that the new tariffs aim to address what he called "years of Japan&#8217;s tariff and non-tariff policies and trade barriers."



He also warned that any retaliatory tariffs would be met with proportional increases by the U.S. and said transshipped goods would face higher rates. 



He also offered an out: Japanese companies that move production to the U.S. won't face tariffs — and he promised quick approvals for those who do.



According to International Trade Statistics data, U.S. imports from Japan totaled $152.07 billion in 2024, with vehicles accounting for $51.27 billion and machinery, including nuclear reactors and boilers, adding another $36.05 billion.



The White House stated that the tariff levels could be revised based on bilateral trade relationships, with the goal of reducing trade deficits and protecting U.S. national security.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">More Countries Face Tariff Hikes</h3>



South Korea will also face a 25% tariff starting in August under the same terms as Japan. The dollar gained 0.9% against the Korean won in the session, reinforcing the greenback's strength amid heightened global tensions.



Several other countries were also named in the tariff list, including:
