Wall Street stumbled midday Friday, shaken by a fresh wave of trade war fears after President Donald Trump proposed aggressive new tariffs on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/05/45585283/trump-tariff-threat-hits-europe-stocks-sink-as-50-duties-loom">and European imports.</a>
In a post on Truth Social, Trump threatened a 25% import duty on Apple Inc. if the tech giant doesn't repatriate its manufacturing to the United States. He also floated a 50% tariff on goods from the European Union, escalating concerns of a renewed transatlantic trade war.
Shares of Apple Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NYSE">AAPL</a>) dropped 2.6% in response. The S&amp;P 500 slipped 0.8% to fall below the key 5,800 mark, on track to close the week lower. 
Growth-oriented sectors like technology and consumer discretionary bore the brunt of the selling, while traditionally defensive sectors such as utilities and consumer staples remained in the green.
Volatility spiked as investors turned risk-averse. The CBOE Volatility Index, known as the VIX, climbed 8%, reflecting growing market anxiety. Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) wasn&#8217;t spared from the risk-off sentiment, shedding over 2% to trade around $108,700. 
Treasury yields edged down to 5.02%, pushing the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) 0.3% higher as investors sought safer assets.
Gold prices surged 2.1% to $3,362 per ounce, boosted by safe-haven demand and a weakening U.S. dollar. The U.S. dollar index is down 1.8% this week, on pace to break a four-week winning streak.

Analysts downgraded the stock following fourth-quarter financial results FY25 reported after <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DECK/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">the market closed on Thursday</a>.&nbsp;
The company reported fourth-quarter revenue of $1.02 billion, beating analyst&nbsp;estimates of $1.01 billion and earnings of $1 per share, beating <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/buybacks/25/05/45576247/ugg-hoka-parent-deckers-outdoor-issues-soft-q1-guidance-holds-back-fy26-outlook-due-to-macroeconomic-uncertainty-shares-tumble-despite-bigger-buyback-plans" rel="noreferrer noopener">analyst estimates of 59 cents per share</a>.
Due to increased uncertainty in the year ahead, Deckers issued F1Q26 guidance instead of its usual full-year guide. The company expects first-quarter revenue of $890 million to $910 million versus estimates of $925.86 million and earnings of 62 cents to 67 cents per share versus estimates <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">of 81 cents per share</a>.

KeyBanc analyst Ashley Owens downgraded the company from Overweight to Sector Weight.
The analyst&#8217;s rating reflects growing concerns around HOKA&#8217;s future trajectory, with HOKA&#8217;s sales coming in slightly below their forecast and the outlook for the first quarter reflecting a notable slowdown in growth.
Owens cited weaker customer acquisition, broader macroeconomic pressures, and a strategic shift toward wholesale expansion, which may dilute brand momentum as contributing factors. Additionally, recent price increases could dampen consumer demand, said the analyst.
While the analyst recognized Deckers&#8217; solid execution historically, HOKA appears to be losing a competitive edge relative to other high-growth running brands that continue to gain traction.
Owens stated that with high brand awareness in the U.S., they see limited near-term upside. Consequently, the analyst lowered the EPS estimate to 65 cents (from 81 cents prior) for the first quarter of 2026 and $5.87 (from $6.57) for 2026.
Also, Telsey Advisory Group analyst Dana Telsey downgraded the company to Market Perform (from Outperform) and trimmed the price forecast from $240 to $120.
The analyst says that Deckers posted a strong fourth quarter, supported by solid revenue growth, improved gross margins, and disciplined cost control, extending its trend of consistent earnings outperformance.
The analyst adds that HOKA growth decelerated faster than expected, but UGG&#8217;s better-than-expected topline offset that slowdown.
The analyst says that the company&#8217;s revenue outlook remains uncertain, particularly given the unpredictable consumer response to pricing increases across the retail sector.
Overall, the analyst cited the reason for the downgrade as HOKA and DTC both slowing, margin headwinds from a shift toward wholesale, potential for heavier discounting compared to previous low-promotion years, and added tariff costs, all against broader macro uncertainty.

MINISO reported earnings per share of 26 cents, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/05/n45582067/miniso-group-announces-march-quarter-2025-unaudited-financial-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">down from 27 cents a year ago</a>. Quarterly sales of $610.06 million (+18.9% year over year) missed the analyst consensus estimate of $624.52 million.
First-quarter gross profit&nbsp;increased 21.1% year over year to $269.8 million. Gross margin&nbsp;was 44.2%, compared to 43.4% in the same period last year, on the back of solid performance from overseas markets and TOP TOY.

As of March 31, the total number of stores at the group level reached 7,768, marking a net increase of 978 stores year over year. The number of MINISO stores grew to 7,488, reflecting a year-over-year addition of 858 locations.

(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BBY#NYSE">BBY</a>),<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/BBY/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener"> lowering the price forecast from $100 to $90.</a>
The company will report first-quarter earnings on Thursday, May 29.
Feldman maintains first-quarter estimates for Best Buy but trims full-year 2025 projections due to mounting headwinds from a murky macro backdrop and renewed tariff concerns.
The analyst forecasts a 1% year-over-year decline in Best Buy's revenue to $8.8 billion for the quarter, in line with expectations, and projects a consolidated comparable sales decline of 0.5%, compared to flat-to-slightly-down guidance.

He noted that roughly 60% of Best Buy's cost of goods sold comes from China, with Mexico accounting for another 20%, leaving the company highly vulnerable to trade-related cost inflation.
Although key categories like smartphones, laptops, computers, and TVs—making up about 70% of sales—are currently exempt from the 30% China tariff, other segments such as gaming consoles, appliances, audio, and drones may see cost pressures.
Feldman anticipates these tariffs will erode profitability, as Best Buy may need to either absorb higher costs or raise prices if suppliers don't shoulder the burden. These effects will likely intensify as the year progresses and impact inventory flows.
On the margin front, Feldman anticipates operating margin will contract by about 40 basis points to 3.4% in the quarter to be reported, aligning with company guidance. He projects a modest 10-basis-point improvement in gross margin to 23.4%, supported by gains from the revamped membership program and a growing mix of higher-margin services.
Feldman credits Best Buy's operational discipline and category leadership for helping it weather current challenges.
Additionally, he sees sales upside from cycling three years of negative comps, new product cycles, and aging purchases from the 2019–2020 boom.
Ongoing AI innovation and expanding higher-margin offerings like loyalty and health services could further support growth.
Feldman revised the 2025 EPS forecast to $6.30—down from $6.44—acknowledging a more cautious stance amid current market dynamics.

Autodesk Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ADSK#NASDAQ">ADSK</a>) reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results, issued strong guidance for the second quarter, and raised its FY26 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ADSK/earnings">guidance on Thursday</a>.
Autodesk reported quarterly earnings of $2.29 per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $2.15 per share. Quarterly revenue of $1.63 billion beat the Street estimate of $1.61 billion.
"Against an uncertain geopolitical, macroeconomic, and policy backdrop, our strong performance in the first quarter of fiscal '26 set us up well for the year," said Andrew Anagnost, Autodesk CEO.
Autodesk said it expects second-quarter adjusted EPS of between $2.44 and $2.48, versus the&nbsp; $2.34 analyst estimate, and revenue in a range of $1.72 billion to $1.73 billion, versus the $1.7 billion estimate.
The company raised its fiscal 2026 adjusted EPS guidance from a range of $9.34 to $9.67 to a new range of $9.50 to $9.73, versus the $9.52 estimate. Autodesk raised its fiscal revenue guidance from between $6.89 billion and $6.96 billion to between $6.92 billion and $7 billion, versus the $6.93 billion estimate.
Autodesk shares fell 0.5% to $293.49 on Friday.
