Carnival Corporation&#8216;s (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CCL#NYSE">CCL</a>) share price dropped on Monday after the company confirmed an order for two new <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/n44660777/carnival-corporation-finalizes-agreement-with-fincantieri-for-two-next-generation-aida-cruises-shi" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">vessels for its German brand</a>.
Under the agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the ships—designed to run on multiple fuel types—will be constructed and are scheduled for delivery in the first quarters of fiscal years 2030 and 2032.
These ships will represent a new class of mid-sized cruise liners. CEO Josh Weinstein noted that with the latest order, Carnival Corporation now has a total of eight new ships in its construction pipeline, slated for delivery through 2033.
This includes the Star Princess, set to debut this year. One new vessel will follow each year from 2027 through 2033.
Felix Eichhorn, president of Rostock, Germany-based AIDA Cruises, said the ships have approximately 2,100 cabins each.
On Saturday, Carnival Cruise unveiled a series of upcoming initiatives aimed at enhancing guest <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/n44659147/carnival-cruise-line-unveils-an-exciting-innovation-itinerary-of-new-ships-fleet-enhancements-depl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">experiences over the next five years</a>.
These plans include the introduction of new ships, fleet upgrades, strategic deployment changes, and exclusive destinations.
The Carnival Festivale is expected to launch in spring 2027 from Port Canaveral, Florida.
The company also announced that its fifth Excel-class vessel, Carnival Tropicale, will be delivered in spring 2028.
Going forward, Carnival plans to develop a new class of mega-ships under the Project Ace initiative. Each weighs 230,000 gross tons and is scheduled for delivery in 2029, 2031, and 2033.

Carnival Corporation Faces Share Price Dip After Announcing New Vessel Orders

The travel industry has experienced unexpected turbulence, which is rattling travel-focused ETFs. As airlines lower revenue forecasts, booking platforms struggle, and hotels and cruise lines see declining stock prices, investors in travel ETFs are watching their portfolios slip. The Invesco Dynamic Leisure and Entertainment ETF covers a broader range of travel-related stocks, including hotels, cruise lines, and entertainment companies. Unfortunately, hotel stocks like Marriott (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAR#NASDAQ">MAR</a>), Hilton (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HLT#NYSE">HLT</a>), and Hyatt (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/H#NYSE">H</a>) have been under pressure, while cruise operators like Norwegian Cruise Line (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NCLH#NYSE">NCLH</a>), Carnival (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CCL#NYSE">CCL</a>), and Viking Holdings (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VIK#NYSE">VIK</a>) have also been trading lower. What&#8217;s Driving Travel Stock Slump?
Broader market pressures are weighing on travel stocks. The British benchmark FTSE 100 recently hit its lowest level in nearly two months, driven by declines in travel and leisure stocks. British Airways owner IAG dropped 6.1% after Delta&#8217;s warning, and overall, the travel sector in the UK fell by 3.1%.
Even geopolitical factors are playing a role. Volatility sparked by U.S. tariff policies, including increased duties on steel and aluminum imports, has added to market jitters. While the UK government has chosen not to retaliate, the uncertainty surrounding trade policies has only made things worse for already struggling travel stocks.

Turbulence Ahead: 3 ETFs Hit By Slump In Travel Stocks

Flutter Entertainment Plc&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FLUT#NYSE">FLUT</a>) shares traded higher on Wednesday&#8217;s premarket session after the company reported <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/03/g44125531/flutter-entertainment-reports-fourth-quarter-2024-financial-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">fourth-quarter results on Tuesday</a>.
Revenue of $3.79 billion, up 14% year over year (Y/Y), missed the consensus of $3.99 billion.
The company&#8217;s major products delivered iGaming revenue growth of 43% and sportsbook structural gross revenue margin of 14.5%.
Group Ex-US revenue upped 14% Y/Y to $2.181 billion, led by structural sportsbook revenue margin expansion, improved sports results and strong iGaming momentum.
Average monthly players rose 7% Y/Y to 14,605K in the quarter. Adjusted EBITDA increased 4% Y/Y to $655 million, led by strong underlying growth in the US, UKI, and International markets.
Adjusted EBITDA margin for both US and Group Ex-US contracted by 180bps Y/Y to 17.3% due to adverse sports results in the US.
Adjusted EPS of $2.94, up 67% Y/Y,<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener"> beating the consensus of $1.85</a>.
Operating cash flow stood at $652 million and free cash flow came in at $473 million in the quarter.
As of December 31, cash and cash equivalent stood at $1.53 billion.
&#8221;FanDuel remains America's number one sportsbook with its leading product maintaining a clear structural revenue margin advantage over competitors. At the same time, excellent execution secured a new number one spot for FanDuel Casino in iGaming,&#8221; said CEO Peter Jackson.

FY25 Outlook: The company sees revenue of $15.48 billion-$16.38 billion (consensus of $19.2 billion) and adjusted EBITDA <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">of $2.94 billion-$3.38 billion</a>.
Flutter projects share buyback of up to $1 billion in FY25.
Jackson added, &#8221;We have had a great start to 2025, including record levels of customer engagement for the Super Bowl where FanDuel had 3m active customers placing 17.7m bets with $470m wagered on the day.&#8221;

Flutter Reports Mixed Q4, Projects $1 Billion Buyback In FY25 Amid Strong iGaming Momentum

BofA Securities analyst Justin Post upgraded Expedia Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EXPE#NASDAQ">EXPE</a>) to Buy from Neutral and raised the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/EXPE/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">price target to $221 from $187</a>.
The analyst says that U.S. bookings, reported OTA nights, and RevPAR data had been trending at low single digits in 2024, but he is seeing early signs of modest improvement, which may indicate a normalization in domestic leisure travel spending into 2025.
While Expedia faced sentiment challenges due to soft B2C nights growth and revenues (-1% in the third-quarter of 2024) compared to peers, the analyst notes trends can improve in 2025 due to easier comps and better positioning at VRBO and Hotels.com.
Post says that he is more confident that Expedia can meet Street expectations for 10% EBITDA growth in 2025, supported by improving U.S. consumer sentiment post-election and a growing contribution from advertising, which rose 32% in the third-quarter 2024 and could account for 3 points of EBITDA growth next year.
Lastly, long-only sentiment remains cautious on Expedia, but a new management team with stronger execution could reignite investor interest and support multiple expansion, adds the analyst.

On Thursday, Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WBD#NASDAQ">WBD</a>) stock climbed after the board approved <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/telecom" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the company&#8217;s</a> plans to implement a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/12/n42459949/warner-bros-discovery-announces-new-corporate-structure-to-enhance-strategic-flexibility" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">new corporate structure</a>.
Under this new corporate structure, Warner Bros. Discovery will have two distinct operating divisions: Global Linear Networks and Streaming &amp; Studios.

Warner Bros. Discovery Stock Spikes As Board OKs Restructuring Plan

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RCL#NYSE">RCL</a>) shares are trading higher on Tuesday. The company reported mixed <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/10/41601688/royal-caribbean-eyes-14-eps-in-2025-amid-cruise-demand-and-expanded-destinations" rel="noreferrer noopener">third-quarter results today</a>.
Revenue grew 17.5% year-over-year to $4.89 billion,&nbsp;missing the consensus of $4.90 billion, while adjusted EPS of $5.20&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/10/41601688/royal-caribbean-eyes-14-eps-in-2025-amid-cruise-demand-and-expanded-destinations" rel="noreferrer noopener">was above the consensus of $5.03</a>.
The company sees fourth-quarter net yields increase 5.1% to 5.6% in constant currency. RCL sees adjusted EPS of $1.40 – $1.45 <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">against the estimate of $2.28</a>.
Goldman Sachs analyst Lizzie Dove writes that looking ahead, the primary disappointment is expected to be in the fourth-quarter guidance, with reported net yield growth projected at 5.3% to 5.8%, slightly below our expectation of 5.9%.
This forecast already considers the impact of Hurricane Milton, estimated at approximately 40 basis points, which would adjust the midpoint to 5.95%, added the analyst.
Additionally, Dove anticipates a greater emphasis on costs, as the fourth-quarter guidance of 7.8% to 8.3% year-over-year (reported) exceeds Goldman Sachs and Street estimates of 5.6% to 5.8%.
The analyst says that the fourth-quarter adjusted EPS guidance incorporates $0.24 of headwinds—one-third from Hurricane Milton and two-thirds due to the timing of cost shifts from the third quarter and increased non-cash stock compensation.
Adjusting for the timing shift in costs from third-quarter diminishes the EPS beat, which may not meet investor expectations, adds the analyst.
However, Dove says that the fundamentals remain robust, with demand and pricing conditions improving since the last earnings call and strong demand anticipated for 2025.
The analyst anticipates that long-term estimates for the Street to rise as a result, with current 2025 EPS estimated at $14.04 and the Street&#8217;s at $13.70.

Thursday&#8217;s headline number in jobs growth — 199,000 in November, beating expectations of around 180,000 — appeared to take the shine off <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/23/12/36152500/november-jobs-report-outruns-expectations-unemployment-drops-jeopardizing-rate-cu">hopes for a raft of interest rate cuts next year</a>. 
But the big number may have been flattered by thousands of workers returning to the labor force following recent strikes.
Equity indices were flat at the open on Wall Street, while the dollar climbed — an indication that some rate cut bets were being taken off the table. A stronger labor market would appear to undermine concerns of the fragility of the U.S. economy.
A deeper dive into the numbers, however, suggests there are still areas of stress, particularly surrounding the main cog of economic activity — the consumer.
But first, let&#8217;s look at the big number, and why it so significantly beat the prior month&#8217;s 150,000 new jobs and surpassed the 180,000 average forecast by analysts.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Strikers Returning To The Workforce</h2>
Employment in the manufacturing sector of Thursday&#8217;s report, compiled by the U.S. Bureau Of Labor Statistics (BLS), rose by a net 28,000. 
But this also reflected the return of 30,000 workers in the motor vehicles and parts sector from a strike by United Auto Workers members. The headline jobs number for October was <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/23/11/35594693/much-needed-cooling-off-or-risk-on-rally-ahead-yields-tumble-bonds-gain-after-octob">negatively affected by the loss of the UAW members</a>.
The iShares U.S. Industrials ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IYJ#BATS">IYJ</a>), which tracks companies in the US manufacturing sector, was up 0.3% in early trade.
A further 17,000 jobs added in the information sector of the BLS survey was primarily down to the return to work of striking Hollywood screenwriters and actors.
Thus, the headline jobs growth number of 199,000 was flattered by nearly 50,000 workers who were only temporarily missing from the workforce.
&#8220;The equity market, which has been consolidating gains over the last few sessions, will need to decipher whether the stronger-than-expected print is due primarily to the return of striking workers, or more indicative of a seemingly entrenched resilient economic foundation that has consistently surprised to the upside,&#8221; said Quincy Krosby, economist for LPL Financial.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Trouble In Stores</h2>
Perhaps the most troubling news came from the retail sector, with 38,000 jobs lost — half of them from department stores. The BLS has now reported net job losses in the retail sector in four out of the last five employment reports.
&#8220;The reported 38K drop in retail jobs in November — the worst since November last year — might be a sign that retailers are already nervous,&#8221; said Ian Shepherdson, chief economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics.
Retail sales have seen only tepid growth over the last six months and, in October, sales fell by 0.1%.
The SPDR S&amp;P Retail ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XRT#NYSE">XRT</a>), which tracks retail stocks on the S&amp;P 500, was up 0.6% in early trade.

Brands Inc (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/yum#NYSE">YUM</a>) all represented around 5% each.

The top holding in the ETF is GameStop Corp. (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/gme#NYSE">GME</a>) at 7.9% of assets and the restaurants are all 2.2% of assets or below.
The ETF does offer nice exposure to smaller restaurant companies that could benefit from the reopening of the economy.
