Musk&#8217;s lawyers had argued that the winners of the sweepstakes were paid spokespeople, not randomly selected individuals. The minute that agreement came out and production changed, gas prices started going down and you saw inflation go down,&#8221; Cuban said. He added that Trump was more focused on helping his friends in the oil industry than on keeping gas prices affordable for Americans.

Acosta had been visiting Mendoza, looking to improve his financial situation by selling goods, including bottles of talcum powder he'd bought from a local vendor. 
Preparing to return home, he hurriedly packed his merchandise, which included 18 bottles of talcum powder, into his backpack. On his bus ride back, officers from Gendarmería, a force that combines the roles of police and military in Argentina, conducted a surprise inspection.
They found the talcum powder and administered a drug field test, which erroneously indicated the presence of cocaine.
"They searched everything I had,&#8221; Acosta said. &#8220;They were excited and congratulating each other, saying things like, ‘Great job; you really paid attention!' They didn't let me speak or move."
Acosta insisted that the containers held only talcum powder, but his protests were dismissed with ridicule. The officers even took photos with the containers, treating him, he said, "like a drug lord."
One phrase stayed with him throughout his ordeal: "I told them, ‘I'm going to laugh at you later, because it's just talcum powder.'"
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Three Weeks In A Cell: His Family's Agonizing Wait</h3>
Held in an isolated cell for 21 days, Acosta endured limited food, sleep and communication with his family. For the first two days, his mother, Laura, frantically tried to find him.
Unaware of his detention, she contacted bus companies and local law enforcement in both Mendoza and Buenos Aires. Finally, Laura was notified that her son had been arrested for possessing "cocaine."
"I couldn't understand it," she said. "He'd sent me photos of the talcum powder he bought, told me how much he paid, and even who sold it to him. It didn't make sense." 
After 48 hours, Laura was allowed to speak briefly with her son, who reassured her. "Don't worry, Mom. I'm fine. If you're fine, I'm fine." Laura later admitted, "For those two days, it felt like he'd been kidnapped."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Premature Celebration And Lack Of Accountability</h3>
Minister Bullrich's tweet on X further added to the family's distress. "An efficient operation: A man tried to evade a checkpoint in Mendoza with over 2 kilos of cocaine hidden in talcum powder containers on a long-distance bus. But Gendarmería was ahead of the game!" she wrote, ending with the phrase: "Those who do it, pay for it."
Finally, after three weeks, Acosta was released, but his troubles didn't end there. He was let go in the middle of the night on a remote road with no public transportation in sight. 
With no way to reach Mendoza, he walked 30 miles before a driver stopped and gave him a ride to the nearest town. The next day, he picked up his confiscated ID and phone. 
However, his cash, around $16,000 Argentine pesos, roughly $16 U.S. dollars, was missing. The state did not provide transportation back to his hometown.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">No Apology, No Compensation: The Struggle For Justice</h3>
When Bullrich was asked to comment on the case, she justified the officials&#8217; actions. "There was no mistake in the investigation. Talcum powder often tests positive for cocaine, and security forces had warned it could be a false positive."
Acosta and his mother have yet to receive an apology and are now considering legal action. Laura noted that the last thing the judge told her son was. "We'll learn and do better for future cases."
Now back in Mar del Plata, Acosta struggles with lingering trauma from his wrongful imprisonment. "I dream of the police coming for me." 
Reflecting on Bullrich's comment, Laura expressed frustration: "The only thing I would say to her is, ‘Train your people. Don't rush to judgment.' They say, ‘Those who do it, pay for it.' Well, I say they should pay too.

The head-to-head race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris grew even closer in the last Morning Consult poll ahead of the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/2024-election">2024 presidential election</a>.
What Happened: Harris maintains a lead over Trump in many election polls as Election Day nears, but her odds in prediction markets and betting odds have trailed the former president <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/sports-betting/24/11/41719799/robinhood-passes-100-million-2024-election-contracts-do-users-favor-trump-or-harris-on-sto">by a wide margin.</a>
A new Morning Consult <a href="https://pro.morningconsult.com/trackers/2024-election-state-polls">poll </a>of likely voters shows Harris' lead dropping, continuing a recent string of a lead of six points shrinking.
The new poll shows the following results from voters, with results from the<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/politics/24/10/41667786/harris-vs-trump-vice-presidents-lead-shrinks-key-demographic-grows-one-week-before-2024-election"> Oct. 29 poll</a> in parentheses:

<li>Kamala Harris: 49% (50%)</li>
<li>Donald Trump: 47% (47%)</li>
<li>Someone Else: 1% (1%)</li>
<li>Don't Know: 2% (2%) &nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Harris' lead over Trump dropped to two points, down from a three-point lead in last week's poll. The vice president has now seen her lead drop in three straight weeks among the Morning Consult polls. The lead is also down from a six-point lead Harris had several weeks ago.

Swing States Still Toss-Up: Morning Consult also published the final results of its state-by-state election guide, which includes how voters in seven key swing states are leaning ahead of Election Day.
Here are the leaders in the seven states:

<li>Arizona: Tied</li>
<li>Georgia: Trump leads by two points</li>
<li>Michigan: Harris leads by one point</li>
<li>Nevada: Tied</li>
<li>North Carolina: Trump leads by two points</li>
<li>Pennsylvania: Tied</li>
<li>Wisconsin: Tied</li>
</ul>
The <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/swing-states" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">seven swing states</a> in question together represent 93 electoral votes in the 2024 election. Six of the seven states above were won by President Joe Biden in the 2020 election with Trump winning North Carolina. Several states flipped from Trump&#8217;s win in the 2016 election.
It could be good news for Harris to see four states tied and leading one state as some swing state polls have shown a more dominant position for Trump.
The bad news is using math and the current path to 270 electoral college votes from<a href="https://www.270towin.com/"> 270towin</a>, Harris could be in trouble.
Based on the <a href="https://www.270towin.com/">270towin</a> map, Harris is expected to get 226 electoral college votes based on state leanings, with Trump getting 219 votes. The remaining 93 votes come from the swing states up for grabs.
With Trump getting the 219 plus Georgia's 16 votes and North Carolina's 16 votes based on the poll above, he would be at 251. Harris would be at 241 with the 226 and the 15 from Michigan.
Pennsylvania is the key swing state worth 19 votes. Based on the math above, Trump would win if he secures Pennsylvania and he could still lose Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada. Trump could also win if he loses Pennsylvania and Nevada and wins Arizona and Wisconsin.
For Harris, she would need to secure Michigan as predicted and win Pennsylvania to get to 260, but still need Arizona or Wisconsin to win the 2024 election.

Harris Vs. Trump: Vice President Has Two-Point Lead In Final Election Poll, Swing States Remain Close With Four Deadlocks Ahead Of Election Day

Rapper Eminem is among the celebrities who have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/2024-election"> the 2024 election</a>.
Benzinga recently asked its readers how influential Eminem's endorsement was and how it compares to billionaire Warren Buffett.
 What Happened: Eminem<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/23/08/33675151/eminem-accuses-donald-trump-of-brainwashing-his-followers-rapper-says-those-are-the-people-"> has been critical of</a> Donald Trump in the past and has spoken out about the followers of the former president.
So, it shouldn't have been a huge surprise for Eminem to publicly endorse Harris over Trump.
The rapper recently appeared at a Detroit, Michigan, rally<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/10/41487342/eminem-rallies-michigan-voters-introduces-obama-at-detroit-kamala-harris-campaign-event"> speaking ahead of</a> former President Barack Obama in the key swing state.
"Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever," Eminem said. "And I think it's important to use your voice. So, I'm encouraging everyone to go out and vote, please."
Eminem also said "people shouldn't be afraid to express their opinions" or be worried about retribution for who they vote for or publicly support.
"I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld."
The rapper took the stage ahead of Obama, who came out to the rapper's hit song "Lose Yourself."
"Do you think rapper Eminem's endorsement of Kamala Harris will boost her chance of winning Michigan?" Benzinga recently asked.
The results were:
Yes: 31%
No: 69%
The poll found the majority didn't think Eminem's endorsement would help Harris' chances of winning the state of Michigan.
Benzinga also asked readers about Buffett and his potential support of a candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
"If Warren Buffett endorsed a political candidate, would it impact your decision to vote for them?" Benzinga asked.
The poll found the following results:
Yes: 32%
No: 69%
The poll had a similar result as Eminem with 69% of people saying Buffett's potential endorsement wouldn't impact their decision and likely wouldn't help a candidate in the election race.

Buffett's company issued a statement warning people against the potential scams.
&#8220;In light of the increased usage of social media, there have been numerous fraudulent claims regarding Mr. Buffett&#8217;s endorsement of investment products as well as his endorsement and support of political candidates. Mr. Buffett does not currently and will not prospectively endorse investment products or endorse and support political candidates," the statement read.
While other billionaires like Elon Musk and Mark Cuban are backing Trump and Harris, respectively, Buffett is not endorsing either candidate.

Macrogenics&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/mgnx-stock-quote/">MGNX</a>) stock is dropping on Wednesday as the biopharmaceutical company prepares to <a href="https://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/macrogenics-provides-vobramitamab-duocarmazine-update-2024-07-30">discontinue a clinical trial</a> of vobramitamab duocarmazine.



This is the company&rsquo;s candidate for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The company has decided to no longer move forward with its TAMARACK Phase 2 study for patients who could have received additional doses.



Macrogenics&nbsp;is making this decision due to the primary endpoint of its study already being met. This suggestion came from the Independent Data Monitoring Committee (IDMC) of the clinical trial. It will present this data in a poster presentation in September.



Scott Koenig, M.D., Ph.D., president and CEO of&nbsp;MacroGenics, said the following about the news.




&ldquo;Patient safety is our top priority, and having reached the study&rsquo;s primary endpoint, we decided to discontinue additional dosing for the remaining TAMARACK participants who had not yet completed treatment. We expect to have the data necessary to determine next steps for the vobra duo program later this year and will provide further updates on an investor call following our ESMO presentation.&rdquo;

FibroGen&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/fgen-stock-quote/">FGEN</a>) stock is falling hard on Wednesday after the biopharmaceutical company <a href="https://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/fibrogen-announces-topline-results-two-late-stage-pamrevlumab-pancreatic-cancer">reported results from failed clinical trials</a>.



The first failed clinical trial covers the treatment of metastatic pancreatic cancer with pamrevlumab. FibroGen&nbsp;said that this didn&rsquo;t meet its primary endpoint of overall survival. This was determined based on the protocol pre-specified Bayesian statistical analysis.



The second failed study covered the use of pamrevlumab&nbsp;combined with gemcitabine + nab-paclitaxel to treat unresectable pancreatic cancer. Yet again, the clinical trial failed to reach its primary endpoint of overall survival.



These are major blows to FibroGen&nbsp;as these weren&rsquo;t early clinical trials. The metastatic pancreatic cancer trial was in the Phase 2/3 range while the unresectable pancreatic cancer one was a Phase 3 study.



FibroGen&nbsp;CEO Thane Wettig said the following about the clinical trial results.




&ldquo;We are deeply disappointed that the pamrevlumab arm in the Precision Promise trial and the LAPIS trial did not meet the primary endpoint of overall survival. We were hopeful that pamrevlumab could bring meaningful innovation to pancreatic cancer patients in desperate need of new therapies.&rdquo;




<h2>What&rsquo;s Next for FGEN Stock</h2>



Considering the results of these clinical trials, FibroGen&nbsp;is immediately going to go into cost-saving mode. That includes the termination of the pamrevlumab program. This will reduce its total headcount by 75%.



FGEN stock is down 44.4% as of Wednesday morning.
