Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVGO#NASDAQ">AVGO</a>) shares are rising in Monday&#8217;s after-hours session after the company announced a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/n44674029/broadcom-inc-announces-10-billion-share-repurchase-authorization">$10 billion buyback</a>.
What Happened: After the market close on Monday, Broadcom announced its board authorized a new share repurchase program, allowing the company to repurchase up to&nbsp;$10 billion&nbsp;of its common stock through&nbsp;the end of the year. 
&#8220;Today&#8217;s announcement of a&nbsp;$10 billion&nbsp;share repurchase program reflects the Board&#8217;s confidence in the strength of Broadcom&#8217;s diversified semiconductor and infrastructure software product franchises,&#8221; said Hock Tan, president and CEO of Broadcom.
&#8220;In particular, we are uniquely positioned in mission critical infrastructure software and enabling hyperscalers to drive innovation in generative AI into their expanding subscriber platforms.&#8221;
Broadcom said the repurchase authorization also reflects board&#8217;s confidence in the company&#8217;s strong cash flow generation.
Last quarter, Broadcom generated $6.11 billion in cash from operations and $6.01 billion in free cash flow as AI revenue jumped 77% year-over-year. The company ended the first quarter with approximately $9.31 billion in cash and cash equivalents.
Broadcom noted that it may repurchase shares in the open market or make privately negotiated purchases under the new buyback program. The company is not obligated to repurchase any shares under the repurchase authorization. The buyback is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2025.
AVGO Price Action: <a href="http://benzinga.com/quote/avgo">Broadcom shares</a> are down about 33% year-to-date. The semiconductor stock was up 2.65% after hours, trading at $158.22 at the time of publication Monday, according to <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a>.

Needham analyst Mike Cikos noted tariff exposure in his <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/software" rel="noreferrer noopener">Infrastructure Software coverage</a> is better insulated compared to other sectors due to the U.S.&#8217; dominant position in Software and the vast, cheap distribution afforded by Software.
Cikos noted that any potentially competing tariffs or &#8216;Buy Domestic&#8217; programs from other countries have a limited impact.
However, the analyst expected an indirect knock-on effect to his coverage as companies re-prioritize initiatives globally.

As deployed resources ensure supply chain resiliency or dual-sourcing, they inherently diverge from other initiatives despite secular demand drivers such as Cloud, generative AI, and Digital Transformation remaining intact.
In this environment, Cikos noted that Nutanix, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NTNX#NASDAQ">NTNX</a>), Pure Storage, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PSTG#NYSE">PSTG</a>), and Confluent, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CFLT#NASDAQ">CFLT</a>) (in that order) are likely to face a tougher lift, as these vendors are asking potential customers to undergo a paradigm shift.
Nutanix sells a Hyperconverged Infrastructure offering, which requires the customer to obtain the underlying hardware before deploying Nutanix&#8217;s Software.
Cikos noted that Pure Storage and Confluent&#8217;s biggest challenge is contesting the status quo of continuing to purchase hard disk drives or utilizing batch processing.
International countries&#8217; attempts to enforce tariffs or buy homegrown offerings will likely have a limited effect. A &#8216;Buy Domestic&#8217; approach to Software would face significant challenges as there are relatively few powerhouse vendors in Europe (e.g., SAP (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/sap#NYSE">SAP</a>)).
Furthermore, in the unlikely event Software vendors faced International tariffs, Cikos noted his coverage could offset these headwinds through price increases. As a result, the analyst noted his coverage&#8217;s direct exposure as limited in scope.
However, Cikos expected an indirect knock-on effect on his Infrastructure Software coverage as the C-suite and executives prioritize initiatives globally, such as dual-sourcing or remapping supply chains.
Despite continued demand behind secular drivers like Cloud, generative AI, and Digital Transformation, if a retailer needs to ship shirts, optimizing procurement has risen to a mission-critical initiative compared to deploying a new database for improved TCO.
Companies&#8217; rebalancing and re-prioritization of initiatives are likely to freeze budgets and extend sales cycles.
Cikos stated that software vendors will have an easier time up and cross-selling existing customers than acquiring new logos. But this has been the case for 2-3 years, where many companies are already sourcing the vast majority of incremental Revenue from existing customers.

If Tariffs Shift Customer Spending Priorities, These Software Stocks Could Face Slow Growth

U.S. President Donald Trump doubled down on his aggressive trade tariff strategy on Monday while signaling openness to potential "fair deals" with several countries during a high-profile meeting at the White House with <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/israel">Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.</a>
Netanyahu announced that Israel is committed to eliminating all trade barriers and tariffs with the United States, pledging to erase Israel's trade surplus and deepen bilateral commerce.
"We want to eliminate the trade deficits with the U.S.," Netanyahu said. "We will eliminate any trade barriers. We are going to eliminate the tariffs—and rapidly."
Trump praised the Israeli leader's announcement but didn't offer reciprocal tariff reductions, instead promising, "We'll take good care of our dear friends." 
Still, the president made it clear that no country would be exempt from the broader reset in America's global trade posture.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tariffs Here To Stay And Possibly Permanently</h3>
"We have been ripped off by a lot of countries over the years," Trump said. "We can't do it anymore."
Asked whether he would consider a pause in tariffs, Trump firmly replied, "We are not looking into that. We want to sign fair deals with countries." 
He indicated that the tariffs are not just staying—they may become permanent unless foreign governments meet U.S. demands. "Virtually every country wants to negotiate," Trump said. "They are all offering things to us because they are experiencing a lot of hurt."
Trump portrayed the current global environment as a unique opportunity to restructure the U.S. economy through aggressive trade actions. "We have an opportunity to reset the table on trade. It's the only chance we have."
According to Trump, the United States was the richest and strongest power on earth between 1870 and 1913 &#8211; a period he credited to the nation's reliance on high tariffs and absence of income taxes, which he suggested created the ideal foundation for industrial dominance.
"If there are no fair deals, nations can't participate in the U.S. economy," Trump warned. "We're going to get fair deals with every nation."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Japan And China Face Sharp Criticism</h3>
Several nations were singled out for criticism, with Japan and China receiving particular attention. Trump noted ongoing trade imbalances with Japan, suggesting that while Japanese vehicles dominate the U.S. market, American cars still face significant restrictions entering Japan.
With respect to China, the tone shifted from frustration to confrontation.
Trump accused China of applying tariffs "34% above what their stupid tariff rate is" and warned that a 50% U.S. surcharge would be added on top of existing tariffs if Beijing does not reduce its barriers by April 8.
He called China "essentially a closed country" but added that he hoped to maintain good relations with President Xi Jinping.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The European Union Targeted For ‘Unfair' Trade Practices</h3>
As for the EU, Trump dismissed its zero-for-zero tariff proposal as insufficient. "It's not enough," he said.
&#8220;The EU was formed to damage the U.S. They took advantage of us." He cited a $350 billion trade deficit with the bloc and accused it of blocking U.S. goods through monetary and non-monetary tariffs.
"They don't take our cars, our agricultural products, they don't take anything," Trump said.
He further criticized EU regulatory standards, describing them as covert trade barriers. "They come up with rules and standards—non-monetary tariffs—which block us," Trump argued, while also accusing European officials of manipulating their currency to gain export advantages.
He indicated that energy will be a critical weapon in future trade negotiations. "They need our energy, and they will commit to buy our energy. We have more energy than any other country on earth," Trump said.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Iran's Nuclear Program And A Clear Red Line</h3>
While the spotlight remained on tariffs, Trump also briefly addressed national security, particularly Iran. Asked whether the U.S. would consider military action to stop Iran's nuclear program, Trump replied with a warning that hinted at the use of force. 
"If the talks aren't successful with Iran, I think Iran is going to be in great danger," he said. "They can't have a nuclear weapon. That's all there is."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Market Reactions</h3>
The S&amp;P 500 — tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) — slipped 0.2% in a volatile session that saw the index swing more than 400 points, or roughly 8%, intraday. 
The Nasdaq 100 unexpectedly closed in the green, rising 0.2% and snapping a two-day losing streak. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1%, extending its three-day decline to 10% — the sharpest drop since March 2020.

The Details: Levi Strauss &amp; Co. reported quarterly adjusted earnings of 38 cents per share, which beat the 28 cent analyst consensus estimate. Quarterly revenue of $1.5 billion missed the consensus estimate of $1.54 billion.

Operating margin&nbsp;was 12.5% compared to 0.04% in the same period last year. Adjusted EBIT margin&nbsp;increased 400 basis points to 13.4% from 9.4% last year on a reported basis primarily due to higher gross margin.

Dave &amp; Buster&#8217;s Entertainment Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PLAY#NASDAQ">PLAY</a>) reported fourth-quarter financial results after the market close on Monday. Here&#8217;s a look at the key highlights <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/g44673682/dave-busters-reports-fourth-quarter-and-fiscal-year-end-2024-financial-results-repurchases-108-mil">from the quarter</a>.
Q4 Earnings: Dave &amp; Buster's reported fourth-quarter revenue of $534.5 million, missing analyst <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings">estimates</a> of $550.37 million, according to&nbsp;<a href="http://pro.benzinga.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benzinga Pro</a>. The entertainment and dining company reported adjusted earnings of 69 cents per share, missing estimates of 71 cents per share.
Total revenue decreased 10.8% year-over-year as comparable store sales fell 9.4%. The company noted that the fourth quarter of 2024 had one less week than the fourth quarter of 2023. 
Dave &amp; Buster&#8217;s said it generated $108.9 million in operating cash flow during the fourth quarter. The company also repurchased approximately five million shares in fiscal 2024, and had approximately $104 million remaining on its buyback as of Monday.
Dave &amp; Buster&#8217;s ended the&nbsp;quarter with&nbsp;$6.9 million&nbsp;in cash and&nbsp;$503.5&nbsp;million&nbsp;of available liquidity under its&nbsp;$650 million&nbsp;revolving credit facility.
&#8220;While we are disappointed by our results in the&nbsp;fourth quarter, we are very encouraged by the clear opportunities we have identified over the past few months and the most recent trends in the business since taking actions to unwind mistakes and make appropriate changes,&#8221; said Kevin Sheehan, board chair and interim CEO of Dave &amp; Buster&#8217;s.

Last quarter, Dave &amp; Buster&#8217;s announced a CEO transition. The board is currently working with a global executive search firm to find the company&#8217;s next CEO. The company did not provide an update on its CEO search in the fourth-quarter release.
Dave &amp; Buster&#8217;s said it expects total capital expenditures to be less than $220 million in fiscal-year 2025.
Management will further discuss the quarter on a conference call with investors and analysts at 5 p.m. ET.

In a recent post <a href="https://x.com/mcuban/status/1906368260406145196">on X</a>, Cuban explained that healthcare should be simple, but it's become overly complicated by big insurance companies and pharmacy benefit managers. These groups, he says, act as middlemen, controlling not just the costs but also the accessibility of care.
For Cuban, healthcare should come down to two basic questions:

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How PBMs Are Driving Up Drug Prices</h2>
Cuban has been particularly vocal about PBMs, which act as go-betweens for drug manufacturers, pharmacies, and insurers. In a <a href="https://www.drugchannels.net/2024/03/mark-cuban-five-ways-that-big-pbms-hurt.html">post</a> for Drug Channels, he laid out five key ways PBMs are making the healthcare system worse:

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cuban's Solution: Transparency and Direct-to-Consumer Pricing</h2>
To address these issues, Cuban co-founded <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/02/43435413/mark-cubans-cost-plus-marketplace-now-sells-over-6000-medicines-saving-customers-between-40-60-by-cutting-out-the-middle-man">Cost Plus Drug Company</a>. The company cuts out PBMs entirely, offering consumers a chance to buy medications at a transparent price. Cost Plus Drugs charges a fixed 15% markup on the wholesale price, along with a small pharmacy and shipping fee.
In a <a href="https://ldi.upenn.edu/our-work/research-updates/mark-cuban-explains-his-battle-against-pharmacy-benefit-managers/">conversation</a> at the University of Pennsylvania, Cuban pointed out how much trust has been lost in the healthcare system. Cuban has repeatedly said that <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/24/12/42742855/mark-cuban-says-this-is-single-payer-how-his-healthcare-model-could-transform-the-u-s-healthcare-system">removing PBMs from the equation</a> would make healthcare more affordable and clear. He argues that if PBMs were out of the picture, the trillions of dollars saved could go toward helping the patients who can't afford care.
"There is a fix," Cuban wrote. "The federal government, states, and self-insured employers can stop doing business with the big three PBMs…State and federal agencies and big companies could switch out from those big PBMs and use their competitors. This would change an entire industry in less than five years."

Stocks that delivered standout gains in the first quarter have held their ground through the opening week of the second quarter, showing resilience as the broader market sank under pressure from tariffs and softening earnings outlooks.
The five best-performing S&amp;P 500 names in Q1 2025 — CVS Health Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CVS#NYSE">CVS</a>), Philip Morris International Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PM#NYSE">PM</a>), Newmont Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NEM#NYSE">NEM</a>), Cencora Inc. With valuations already stretched and macroeconomic risks mounting — from renewed trade tensions to signs of weakening corporate margins — the potential for further gains could quickly evaporate if analysts begin slashing forecasts in the coming weeks.
