Zoom Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ZM#NASDAQ">ZM</a>) reported stronger-than-expected earnings for its first quarter<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ZM/earnings"> after Wednesday's closing bell.</a>
Zoom reported quarterly earnings of $1.43 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.31. Quarterly revenue came in at $1.17 billion which met the Street estimate.
"We delivered another solid quarter, exceeding guidance in both revenue and profitability — a testament to the strength of our platform and AI-first innovation," said Eric S. Yuan, Zoom's CEO. "In an uncertain macro-economic environment, customers are turning to Zoom to drive efficiency, improve customer and employee experiences, and future-proof their businesses."
Zoom also raised its fiscal 2026 adjusted EPS guidance from $5.34 to $5.37 to $5.56 to $5.59, versus the $5.41 analyst estimate, and raised its revenue outlook from a range of $4.79 billion to $4.79 billion to a new range of $4.8 billion to $4.81 billion, versus the $4.79 billion estimate.
Zoom shares fell 1.5% to trade at $81.03 on Thursday.

These Analysts Raise Their Forecasts On Zoom After Better-Than-Expected Q1 Earnings

Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSTR#NASDAQ">MSTR</a>) on Thursday announced the launch of a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/05/45486583/michael-saylors-tip-to-grow-wealth-by-100x-dont-quit-jobs-invest-in-bitcoin-over-obscenely-expensive-items">$2.1 billion at-the-market</a> (ATM) offering for its preferred stock Strife (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STRF#NASDAQ">STRF</a>), expanding its capital structure and continuing its focus on Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>)-linked securities.
What Happened: The announcement was made during a company <a href="https://x.com/saylor/status/1925522802712437243">webcast</a> by CEO Fong Lee and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor.
According to Lee, the program follows strong performance from the company's fixed income instruments. 
"We see the liquidity in the market and we see the demand in the market for our instrument. We have confidence that a $2.1 billion ATM is something that we can also execute upon going forward," he said.
Strife, which carries a 10% coupon and is perpetual in duration, has gained 16% since its initial pricing at $85 and is now trading near $98.80. 
Trading volume has averaged $23 million per day, compared to just $0.5 million for comparable preferreds. 
The company believes this liquidity supports the feasibility of the ATM offering.
Strategy previously issued $212 million via its ATM for Strike (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STRK#NASDAQ">STRK</a>), a separate preferred instrument launched earlier this year.
Combined with equity issuance from its $42 billion MSTR shelf program, the firm has now utilized 55% of its capital raise target.

Why It Matters: Saylor emphasized the role of Strife in attracting more conservative fixed-income investors.
"Our long-term goal with this instrument is for this to be deemed as the pristine fixed income preferred stock in the market," he said. "Strife is an instrument to draw a new class of investors into the Bitcoin universe."
The company's broader strategy includes a suite of Bitcoin-linked products ranging from highly volatile equity (MSTR) to structured income products like MISTI and BMACs. 
These instruments are designed to meet varying investor needs based on risk tolerance and exposure preferences. 
"We're going to continue to pioneer new forms of Bitcoin BTC equity and new forms of BTC credit that meet the needs of various capital markets investors," said Saylor.
Strategy's capital base is anchored by its reserve of 576,230 BTC, currently valued at approximately $60 billion. This reserve underpins the creditworthiness of the firm's fixed income products.

China's BYD Co. Ltd. (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BYDDY#OTC">BYDDY</a>) has surpassed Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) for the first time in European sales.
What Happened: BYD registered 7,231 battery-electric vehicles in Europe in April, which was higher than Tesla's 7,165 units during the same period, market research firm JATO Dynamics reported on Thursday.
Although the difference between the two brands' monthly sales totals may be small, the implications are enormous. This is a watershed moment for Europe's car market, particularly when you consider that Tesla has led the European BEV market for years," JATO analyst Felipe Munoz said.
The report also suggests that BEV demand in the region has experienced a 28% YoY increase in April 2025, when compared with last year. Chinese brands have been driving the growth in the region, the report said.
While BYD experienced a surge, Tesla reported a 49% YoY drop in volumes in Europe, the report suggests. The drop in volumes signals a tough time for Elon Musk's EV giant.&nbsp;
Why It Matters: The report comes in as BYD has launched the<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/25/05/45560953/byds-europe-pivot-in-full-swing-with-new-26000-affordable-ev-amid-tesla-sal"> Dolphin Surf EV</a> in Europe, which is based on the company's best-selling EV in China, called the Seagull. The dolphin surf is available for a price of $26,000.
BYD's European push stems from the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44946809/byd-rejigs-european-strategy-amid-lack-of-market-knowledge-and-modest-dealer-network-report">company's strategy pivot</a> as the EV giant failed to meet growth targets due to a poor understanding of the region, as well as a lax dealership network, among other reasons.
However, the company has since developed its strategy and its new <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/45097773/satellite-images-put-tesla-rival-byds-hungarian-factory-capable-of-producing-200k-units-annually-in-the-spotlight">Hungarian manufacturing facility</a>, capable of producing over 200,000 EVs annually, indicates BYD's aggressive push in Europe.

These Analysts Increase Their Forecasts On Urban Outfitters Following Strong Q1 Earnings

Rio Tinto plc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RIO#NYSE">RIO</a>) on Thursday disclosed that its CEO Jakob Stausholm will step down from his <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/mining">role later this year</a>.
Jakob joined the company in 2018 as executive director and CFO and took on the role of CEO in January 2021.
Rio Tinto Chair Dominic Barton praised Stausholm's leadership and restoring &#8220;trust with key stakeholders&#8221;.

The goal is to start production as early as 2029. The project, named Kangwinan at the request of the Wik Waya Traditional Owners, will include developing a new mine and enlarging the existing port facilities.
This expansion aims to nearly double the bauxite output from Rio Tinto's Weipa Southern operations, where Amrun is based.
Output from the Kangwinan project is intended to replace production from the Andoom mine in Cape York and the Gove mine in the Northern Territory, which are expected to wind down by the decade&#8217;s end.
If given the green light, the project will create a new mining hub roughly 15 kilometers southeast of the Amrun site, which opened in 2018 following a $1.9 billion investment.
The proposed expansion would boost Rio Tinto's annual bauxite output from its Weipa Southern operations by up to 20 million tonnes, adding to the current 23 million tonnes, and increase export capacity through the Amrun port.
This would primarily offset the production declines expected from the eventual closures of the Gove and Andoom mines.
The Kangwinan project is expected to create over 800 construction jobs and help retain the current workforce employed at Weipa's existing mining sites set to close.
A final investment decision is anticipated in 2026.
On Tuesday, the company committed $900 million for a 49.99% stake in Chile&#8217;s Salar de Maricunga, a lithium project controlled by the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/25/05/45513934/rio-tinto-expands-lithium-push-with-900-million-maricunga-deal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chilean state-owned miner </a><a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/25/05/45513934/rio-tinto-expands-lithium-push-with-900-million-maricunga-deal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Codelco</a>.
Investors can gain exposure to the stock via&nbsp;VanEck Steel ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SLX#NYSE">SLX</a>) and iShares Copper and Metals Mining ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ICOP#NASDAQ">ICOP</a>).

The U.S. House narrowly passed President Donald Trump's sweeping tax-cut bill Thursday, triggering a spike in Treasury yields as investors reacted to the bill's multi-trillion-dollar price tag and its long-term<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/05/45550324/us-bond-market-flashing-red-30-year-yield-tops-5-prices-tank-to-october-2023-lows"> implications for debt sustainability.</a>
The yield on 30-year Treasury bonds surged to 5.15% in early New York trading, marking the highest level since October 23, 2023. 
The move came after the House approved the $3.8 trillion tax-and-spending package by a razor-thin 215–214 margin, with all Democrats and two Republicans voting against it, and one Republican voting present.
The bill, dubbed by Trump as the "one big, beautiful bill," advances to the Senate, where a vote is expected before the July 4 recess. If enacted, it would enact broad tax cuts, increase spending, and lift the deficit trajectory by trillions over the next decade.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Debt Explosion In The Spotlight</h3>
JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>) CEO Jamie Dimon indicated that while Trump's plan may help stabilize the business cycle, it does little to fix America's fiscal path.
"I think the deficit will be large and probably growing," Dimon told Reuters. "Governments can spend money and still fail to drive growth. Responsibility matters."
Dimon echoed concerns shared by both credit analysts and institutional investors who say the long-term trajectory of U.S. debt could undermine confidence in Treasuries if spending continues unchecked.
The bill could increase the national debt—already at a record $36.2 trillion—by anywhere from $2.3 trillion to $5.7 trillion by 2034, depending on whether key tax breaks are extended, according to estimates from the Congressional Budget Office and the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
"Stock investors may now be getting spooked that the bond market might be on the verge of a debt crisis," said veteran investor Ed Yardeni, pointing to the recent Moody's downgrade of U.S. sovereign credit and rising global bond yields.
Yardeni noted that the S&amp;P 500's 1.61% decline on Wednesday was already a reaction to the poorly received 20-year bond auction, and Thursday's vote could accelerate concerns. 
"Trump's ‘Big Beautiful Bill' could push deficits and debt into uncharted territory," he said.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Is A Debt Crisis Inevitable?</h3>
Yardeni raised the possibility that bond vigilantes—investors demanding higher yields to compensate for rising fiscal risk—could push the 10-year Treasury yield above 5% in coming weeks. 
Still, he said a full-blown debt crisis might not be catastrophic if it forces Washington toward fiscal discipline.
"In that case, a debt crisis would actually be a buying opportunity for stocks. Fasten your seat belts," Yardeni said.
According to Yardeni, the Federal Reserve could reserve a new Quantitative Easing (QE) to alleviate the Treasury&#8217;s financing pressures.
Another option could be shifting Treasury issuance toward short-term bills, as seen under Janet Yellen's 2023 playbook, which may temporarily ease pressure on long-term yields without requiring Fed intervention. 
Yet, the Treasury&#8217;s so-called Yield Curve Control makes U.S. debt far more sensitive to interest rate swings, increasing rollover risk as more debt matures faster.
With federal debt already at $36.2 trillion, even modest rate hikes could sharply raise borrowing costs, amplifying concerns about long-term fiscal sustainability.
