Wall Street edges higher as GOP tax bill clears the House and bond yields ease, helping investors shake off prior losses while digesting mixed <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/05/45567476/us-business-activity-rebounds-in-may-but-tariff-fueled-inflation-surges-at-fastest-pace-in-3-years">May business activity data.</a>
President Donald Trump's "one big beautiful tax bill" narrowly passed the House in a 215-214 vote and now moves to the Senate. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the proposed legislation is projected to add approximately $3 trillion to the national deficit over the next decade.
U.S. Treasury yields saw a whipsaw session, with the 30-year bond yield initially spiking to 5.15% before retreating by 9 basis points to 5.06% by midday in New York. The reversal in long-term rates signaled renewed investor appetite for long-duration bonds amid attractive yields.
Wednesday's sharp rise in yields had triggered a broad afternoon selloff in equities, but Thursday's pullback eased pressure on risk assets and improved investor sentiment.
The S&amp;P 500 rose 0.3% to 5,860 on Thursday, slightly recouping losses from the previous session. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 outperformed with a 0.7% gain.
Technology and consumer discretionary stocks led gains, riding momentum from falling yields. In contrast, defensive sectors like utilities and healthcare lagged. 
The U.S. dollar index (DXY) is on track to snap a three-day losing streak, supported by stronger-than-expected Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data for May. While the surveys pointed to solid growth, they also revealed renewed inflationary pressures, which tempered hopes for near-term Federal Reserve rate cuts.
Markets now fully price in a 25-basis-point rate cut only by December 2025, compared to prior expectations of an October move, based on CME Group's FedWatch Tool.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) extended its 2025 rally, jumping 2% above $111,000 to set fresh all-time highs. The world's largest cryptocurrency is now up 20% year-to-date. 
Gold prices, however, fell 0.7% to trade below $3,200 per ounce. Despite Thursday's drop, the precious metal has surged 25% so far in 2025, outperforming other major asset classes, continuing to attract inflows amid sticky inflation and uncertain fiscal policy paths.

Stocks Rebound As Treasury Yields Fall, Bitcoin Tops $111,000: What's Driving Markets Thursday?

The U.S. House of Representatives passed one of the most expansive tax-and-spending bills in modern history, setting the stage for a multi-trillion-dollar shift in federal deficits and sector <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/05/45564489/trumps-big-tax-bill-clears-the-house-30-year-yields-jump-to-515-as-bond-market-freaks">dynamics over the next decade.</a>
The legislation is projected to balloon the federal deficit by over $3 trillion between 2025 and 2034, according to preliminary estimates from the Congressional Budget Office. The fiscal impact will peak around 2027, when the bulk of the temporary spending programs and tax cuts kick in.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Fiscal Alarm Bells Ring On Wall Street</h1>
Analysts at the bipartisan federal agency warn that such a sharp increase comes at a time when U.S. debt is already on an unsustainable trajectory.
"Adding more than $3 trillion to the debt when our nation's finances are already on an unsustainable path would be unwise," the CBO stated. 
"Lawmakers should go back to the drawing board and work on a bill that reduces deficits, not adds to them."
Spencer Hakimian, founder of Tolou Capital warned that with the bill's passage, markets should brace for permanent emergency-style stimulus and $4 trillion annual deficits within a few years.
"This is COVID-style spending — without the pandemic," Hakimian said in a post on X.
Goldman Sachs' economist Alec Phillips highlighted that Moody's recent U.S. credit rating downgrade was influenced by the bill's trajectory, stating, "Markets are already attuned to fiscal risks… early August remains our base case for enactment."
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">How The House Tax Bill Could Shake Up Different Sectors</h1>
According to CBO projections, the bill increases the deficit in three key government areas — meaning more spending is likely ahead:
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Judiciary: $7 billion (deficit increase)</li>
<li>Armed Services: $144 billion</li>
<li>Homeland Security: $67 billion</li>
</ul>
This suggests significant boosts to military procurement, border enforcement and law enforcement infrastructure. These sectors could benefit from rising federal contracts and equipment orders, with likely beneficiaries including the iShares U.S. Aerospace &amp; Defense ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ITA#NYSE">ITA</a>) and the First Trust Nasdaq Cybersecurity ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CIBR#NASDAQ">CIBR</a>).
At the core of the bill is the Ways &amp; Means Committee, responsible for all tax policy, Social Security, Medicare, unemployment benefits and tariffs. This section alone accounts for $3.775 trillion of the total deficit increase.
Other areas of the budget plan reflect deficit reductions, which generally imply spending cuts or revenue gains. These include:

Initial market reactions hit the solar and renewables sectors, which suffered the brunt of market fallout. With many solar tax subsidies ended, the Invesco Solar ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TAN#NASDAQ">TAN</a>) fell 9% on Thursday. Among key names:

Abigail Ross Hopper, CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association, warned the bill would "upend an economic boom," potentially leading to blackouts and a strategic loss to China in the global AI race.
"This bill is willfully ignorant of the fact that deploying solar and storage is the only way the U.S. power grid can meet demand&#8230; If it becomes law, America will effectively surrender the AI race to China."
In contrast, consumer-related stocks rallied, buoyed by expectations of tax relief and increased household spending power. The SPDR S&amp;P Retail ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XRT#NYSE">XRT</a>) climbed 1.5%, led by Advance Auto Parts (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAP#NYSE">AAP</a>), which soared 42% after a blowout earnings report.
Within tech-focused defense names, Palantir Technologies Inc. Big Tax Cuts, Big Deficits: Wall Street Winners And Losers Emerge

Ecopetrol S.A. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EC#NYSE">EC</a>) announced Wednesday that it had signed an <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/05/n45539230/ecopetrol-s-a-signs-an-agreement-to-acquire-a-portfolio-of-up-to-1-300-megawats-of-solar-and-wind-" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">agreement to potentially acquire</a> a large-scale wind and solar energy portfolio in Colombia from Statkraft, reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy expansion.
Signed on May 20, the deal covers assets totaling up to 1.3 gigawatts in capacity, currently owned by Statkraft&#8217;s subsidiaries Enerfín Sociedad de Energía S.L.U. and Enerfin Enervento Exterior S.L. The projects are spread across the Colombian departments of La Guajira, Sucre, Córdoba, Caldas, and Magdalena.
The portfolio includes six entities managing 614 megawatts of solar capacity and three others overseeing 750 megawatts of wind energy. If finalized, the acquisition would significantly advance Ecopetrol&#8217;s goal of reaching 900 MW of renewable self-generation capacity by 2025.

The Consumer Price Index showed signs of cooling in April, as both headline and core readings eased or met expectations, easing concerns that Trump's proposed trade tariffs would trigger a surge in inflation.
The S&amp;P 500 advanced 0.7%, adding to Monday's 3.3% surge, and reached its highest level since March 3.
Technology stocks outperformed again, with the Nasdaq 100 jumping 1.8%, driven by a standout 5.3% rally in NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>).
The chipmaker giant surged after reports that the United Arab Emirates may receive approval to purchase over a million of its advanced AI processors, while Saudi Arabia pledged up to $600 billion in future U.S. investments, with a focus on technology and infrastructure.

Crude oil prices spiked nearly 3% to surpass $63 a barrel after Trump warned that Iranian oil exports could be driven to zero due to the country&#8217;s threat to regional stability.
The rally marks a 10% surge over the past four sessions, putting crude on track for its best four-day run since 2022.
The energy sector rallied in tandem, with U.S. energy stocks rising 1.5% on the day.
U.S. Treasury yields extended gains amid improving risk appetite. The 10-year yield jumped to 4.50%, while the 30-year yield climbed to 4.95%, signaling stronger expectations for economic resilience and possibly tighter monetary conditions down the line.
The U.S. dollar index slipped 0.5% after Monday's strong gains, reflecting a mild pullback as traders repositioned. Gold rose 0.6% to recover some ground amid geopolitical headlines.

Clean energy stocks spiked on Tuesday, with First Solar Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FSLR#NASDAQ">FSLR</a>) jumping more than <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/renewable-energy">20% during early trading</a>.
The rally came after House Republicans delivered a better-than-feared tax proposal for renewable energy incentives.
The market had braced for a potential gutting of clean energy provisions under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), but the House GOP's proposed tax legislation, while imposing several phaseouts and rollbacks, kept many of the core credits intact.
This drove a sector-wide relief rally that sent major solar names and exchange-traded funds sharply higher.
First Solar has rallied 35% over the past two days, putting it on track for the strongest 2-day rally since 2013. 
The Invesco Solar ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TAN#NYSE">TAN</a>) rose 6.5% Tuesday after a 4% rally on Monday, marking its best two-day performance in more than 12 months. The Invesco WilderHill Clean Energy ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PBW#NYSE">PBW</a>) followed suit, rising 3.4% Tuesday after a 5.1% surge on Monday.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What's Inside The GOP Tax Bill Proposal?</h3>
The legislation, up for a House Ways and Means Committee vote Tuesday afternoon, includes several revisions to clean energy tax credits but stops short of dismantling them.
Key changes include:
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>25D residential solar tax credit (30%) ends for projects not installed by end-2025.</li>
<li>48E investment credit, used by residential and utility-scale solar, begins phasing out in 2029.</li>
<li>45X manufacturing credit ends after 2031, instead of phasing down in 2032.</li>
<li>45Y clean energy production credit changes qualification from "start of construction" to "placed in service" and phases down from 80% if placed in service during calendar year 2029, and then declines by 20% per year until reaching 0% in 2031.</li>
<li>Credit transferability was repealed, eliminating the ability to monetize credits by selling to large taxpayers</li>
<li>Additional cuts to funding, including $27 billion from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund</li>
</ul>
A crucial clause excludes 45X credit eligibility for firms receiving significant support from foreign entities of concern, defined by national security laws.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Manufacturers Seen As Primary Winners</h3>
Analysts at Goldman Sachs said the proposal is "not as negative as initially feared," particularly for domestic clean energy manufacturers.
&#8220;We believe the initial reaction to the proposed tax plan is relatively bullish [&#8230;] as we believe investors had been pricing in a severely bearish possible outcome – such as the immediate repeal of IRA – and the phase out looks rather measured,&#8221; the firm&#8217;s analyst Brian Lee, CFA, said.
Companies with high U.S. revenue exposure, such as Sunrun Inc., Shoals Technologies Group Inc., First Solar Inc., and Array Technologies Inc., stand to benefit the most, according to the expert.
For First Solar, the revision to the 45X credit is especially supportive, potentially contributing 75% of its 2026 earnings per share, according to Goldman estimates. The company's U.S.-based manufacturing footprint could also gain from the foreign-entity restrictions.
Conversely, residential-focused firms like Enphase Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ENPH#NASDAQ">ENPH</a>) and SolarEdge Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SEDG#NASDAQ">SEDG</a>) may face pressure from the removal of the 25D credit in 2026, which could hurt demand for solar loan and cash sale products.

First Solar Eyes Best 2-Day Rally Since 2013 After GOP Tax Plan Spares Key Clean Energy Credits

Sunrun Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RUN#NASDAQ">RUN</a>) shares are trading higher on Thursday after the company reported better-than-expected <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/05/45268589/sunrun-stock-rallies-after-strong-q1-report-details" rel="noreferrer noopener">first-quarter results on Wednesday</a>.
The company reported an EPS of 20 cents per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 25 cents loss and revenue of $504.27 million, which beat the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate of $484.06 million</a>.
Guggenheim analyst Joseph Osha kept Neutral rating on the stock and writes that while overall customer volume growth is modest in the quarter (additions of 25,428, up only 6%, with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color" rel="noreferrer noopener">expected decelerating comps)</a>.
The analyst anticipates the company to continue to prioritize liquidity and profitability over aggressive growth in the near to medium term, awaiting a more favorable environment.

Osha projects Sunrun to become an increasingly dominant player as the residential solar industry consolidates.
The analyst writes that the company&#8217;s main challenges are policy-related, particularly the solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which significantly impacts their cash generation ($50 million impact on cash flow for every 1% change in the effective ITC rate).
The analyst notes that the company has strategies to counteract a lower ITC, and management stated their belief that the company can still generate cash under such circumstances.
However, the analyst adds that accurately predicting the net effect and timing of potential changes to the Inflation Reduction Act on cash generation is exceedingly challenging.
Osha expects this to pose a considerable challenge for RUN investors in the medium term.
KeyBanc analyst Sophie Karp reiterated a Sector Weight rating and said the results beat consensus. They exceeded their solar and storage capacity addition guidance and marked their fourth <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/RUN/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">quarter of positive cash flow</a>.
The company&#8217;s second quarter and FY25 guidance indicates strong demand across channels, and they continued to reduce corporate debt, adds the analyst.
Karp writes that while these positives might offer some valuation support, broader uncertainty around government and fiscal policy, coupled with persistently high industry-wide cost of capital, can lead to shares unlikely to regain positive momentum in the near term.

Enphase Unveils Advanced Three-Phase IQ Battery in Luxembourg with 15-Year Warranty

The White House has ordered a temporary freeze on all federal grants and loans, putting $3 trillion in funding under scrutiny and setting the stage for a legal and political showdown over the congressional power of the purse that could heavily impact a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets">wide range of industries.</a>
The directive, issued Monday by the Office of Management and Budget and received by several media outlets, requires all federal agencies to halt disbursements while programs are reviewed for alignment with President Donald Trump's policy priorities.
This includes halting new awards, existing payment and funding for projects until reviewed.
The exact financial impact of the order remains uncertain. Budget experts cited <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/01/28/trump-spending-freeze-upends-washington-triggering-legal-threats-delays/">by the Washington Post </a>estimate at least tens of billions of dollars are at stake, though the White House directive suggests the total could be significantly higher.
Of the almost $10 trillion spent by the federal government in fiscal 2024, more than $3 trillion was federal financial assistance, Matthew Vaeth, acting director at the OMB, said in the memorandum.
&#8220;Financial assistance should be dedicated to advancing Administration priorities,&#8221; Vaeth said, adding that &#8220;the use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve.&#8221;
The White House said that Social Security and Medicare remain untouched. The sweeping pause threatens funding for universities, nonprofits, contractors and private companies that depend on federal assistance.
&#8220;Nothing in this memo should be construed to impact Medicare or Social Security benefits,&#8221; the memo said.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was among the first to push back, saying Congress-approved investments are legally mandated and asserting the president lacks the authority to override the Impoundment Control Act of 1974, which restricts unilateral executive control over federal funds.
Trump has long argued that the 1974 law is unconstitutional, stating that past presidents had far more discretion over spending before its passage.

The Conference of the Parties (COP) 29 summit brought global leaders to Baku, Azerbaijan, for an 11-day session to address climate change, carbon market mechanisms and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/green-energy">climate finance</a>.
Hosted in a country heavily reliant on fossil fuels, the event is a mix of urgency and controversy, particularly after BBC<a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crmzvdn9e18o"> reported</a> local representatives engaging in oil and gas deals.
Still, the primary focus of its first days is establishing the rules for a global carbon market — a move aimed at helping countries meet emissions targets by trading carbon credits.
This mechanism, intended to fund projects that reduce emissions globally, allows wealthy countries to purchase credits from those with lower emissions, thus offsetting their carbon output.
The stakes are high at COP29, particularly with pressing issues such as funding for climate-vulnerable countries and updating climate targets. The attendees will discuss the succession of the annual $100 billion pledged by developing nations, as the sum may need to be raised significantly to account for the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/esg/24/10/41621596/net-zero-by-2050-might-cost-the-world-78-trillion-wood-mackenzie-estimates">increasing impact of climate change</a>. This finance component is critical for maintaining trust between rich and poor nations, especially as commitments still need to be met.
"I'm as frustrated as anyone that one single COP can't deliver the full transformation that every nation needs… [but] it is here that parties need to agree a way out of this mess. Trump's return could <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/11/41883635/trump-looks-to-undo-biden-climate-progress-with-burgum-as-energy-czar-report">exacerbate tensions</a>, mainly as he has been vocal about downplaying climate initiatives.
Still, greenlighting the carbon credit quality standards on the first day provides an opportunity for a U.N.-backed global carbon market that would fund critical projects.
Juan Carlos Arredondo Brun, a former climate negotiator for Mexico and now a director at a carbon market data company Abatable, noted this development &#8220;will bring us closer to operationalizing the carbon market before any single party may decide to move away from the Paris Agreement,"<a href="https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/cop29-countries-endorse-global-carbon-market-framework-2024-11-11/"> per</a> Reuter's report.
The carbon market, increasingly popular among corporations seeking to offset their emissions, has some of the largest buyers in the energy and automotive sectors. Shell (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SHEL#NYSE">SHEL</a>), Volkswagen (OTCPK: VWAGY), and Takeda (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TAK#NYSE">TAK</a>) were the top three companies retiring carbon credits in 2023.
Shell led with 16 million credits, primarily from forestry projects, while Volkswagen retired eight million credits linked to renewable energy and reforestation. Pharmaceutical giant Takeda contributed nearly three million credits to reduce non-CO2 greenhouse gases.
A standardized carbon market could be a lifeline for U.S. companies committed to carbon-emission goals. Notable examples include Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/F#NYSE">F</a>), which is delaying the launch of a next-generation all-electric pickup truck and has <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/top-stories/24/08/40496864/ford-scraps-electric-suv-as-it-adjusts-to-lower-electric-vehicle-demand">scrapped the development</a> of a new three-row electric SUV. Yet, the management has confirmed it will seek to comply with emissions targets, including purchasing carbon credits as needed.
The COP29 conference will run until Nov. 22. Setting a new annual budget could significantly impact clean energy investments. Urgency, Debate Mark COP29 As Leaders Push For Carbon Market Rules, Worry About Trump

Enphase Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ENPH#NASDAQ">ENPH</a>) introduced a new DIY permit plan <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/g41876565/enphase-energy-unveils-ai-powered-diy-permitting-feature-for-solargraf-slashing-solar-permit-plan-" rel="noreferrer noopener">feature on its Solargraf platform</a>.

Last month, &nbsp;the company reported worse-than-expected financial results for the third quarter, with revenue of&nbsp;$380.9 million missing the&nbsp;estimate of $391.979 million and EPS of 65 cents coming <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/10/41488921/enphase-energy-stock-is-diving-wednesday-whats-going-on" rel="noreferrer noopener">below the estimate of 77 cents</a>.
Also as per a regulatory <a target="_blank" href="https://www.sec.gov/ix?doc=/Archives/edgar/data/1463101/000146310124000145/enph-20241107.htm" rel="noreferrer noopener">filing </a>last week, Enphase Energy notified its employees of a restructuring plan on November&nbsp;7, that it will reduce headcount and move certain functions to cost-efficient regions, affecting approximately 17% of its global workforce &#8211; approximately 500 employees and contractors.
In addition, the company will streamline its operations by focusing on contract manufacturing in four existing locations: two in the U.S., one in India, and one in China. It will also cease its contract manufacturing operations in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The company estimates that it will incur approximately $17 million to $20 million in restructuring and asset impairment charges, of which approximately $14 million are expected to be incurred in the fourth quarter of 2024 and approximately $11 million to $12 million will be total cash expenditures.&nbsp;

Enphase Unveils AI-Powered DIY Solar Permits: Details

With Donald Trump now president-elect and Republicans likely to control Congress, clean energy stocks <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/esg">are taking a beating</a>.
The Invesco Solar ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TAN#NYSE">TAN</a>) dropped over 9% last week, dragging it to levels last seen in July 2020. From its January 2021 peak, the TAN ETF is now down more than 70%. 
Renewables have also been rattled. The Invesco Global Clean Energy ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PBD#NYSE">PBD</a>) slid over 5% to hit lows not seen since April 2020.
Sunnova Energy International Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NOVA#NYSE">NOVA</a>)&nbsp;saw its stock plummet by 45% last week, marking its worst week since its IPO in July 2019. Similarly, SolarEdge Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SEDG#NASDAQ">SEDG</a>)&nbsp;dropped 23%, reaching all-time lows.
First Solar Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FSLR#NASDAQ">FSLR</a>) has fallen to a valuation of just 10 times forward earnings—its cheapest in over four years.
Is this a buying opportunity at depressed valuations, or is the worst yet to come?
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Trump's Anti-Green Policy Stance</h3>
"We expect rhetoric regarding environmental policy and the sustainability of the [Inflation Reduction Act] to be elevated, which could likely lead to continued volatility in stocks in the Green Capex supply chain, particularly pure-play solar/wind stocks," Goldman Sachs analyst Brian Singer explained in a note Friday.
Expect the incoming Trump administration to prioritize easing tailpipe emission regulations and increase resource development on federal land. 
One of the biggest questions for investors is the future of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which has provided significant tax incentives for solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects. 
While Trump and the GOP have expressed skepticism about green subsidies, Goldman Sachs analysts still indicated the IRA could survive in some form due to its broad economic impact.
Goldman Sachs' Singer highlighted that &#8220;the job creation, reshoring, and/or environmental benefits of IRA tax incentives could limit policymakers&#8217; interest in making material incentive revisions.&#8221; Despite Republican opposition, the IRA's solar and wind tax credits have been economically beneficial across various regions, creating a sticking point for politicians wary of hurting local economies.
Potential scenarios for the IRA under Trump include:

<li>Full Repeal: This would be the most drastic outcome, likely causing significant disruption in the green energy sector.</li>
<li>Reversion to Pre-IRA Incentives: In this scenario, incentives would roll back to pre-IRA levels, which could still allow some projects to proceed, albeit at a higher cost.</li>
<li>Early Termination: A more moderate approach, setting an earlier end date for current incentives.</li>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Green Energy vs. Energy Alternatives: A Cost Battle</h3>
Goldman Sachs&#8217; analysis suggests that even without IRA support, solar and wind power could remain cost-competitive with natural gas, though with a slight &#8220;Green Premium.&#8221; 
This means the green sector may stay resilient, but some renewable firms could see a dip in earnings as they adjust to potential shifts in federal support.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Bright Spot: Big Tech And Rising Power Demand</h3>
Global data center power demand is expected to skyrocket by 165% by 2030. 
Tech giants like Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) have expressed support for low-carbon energy solutions, a trend that may buffer the renewable sector against policy headwinds.
Goldman's utilities team projects a 2.4% CAGR in U.S. power demand through 2030, the highest growth rate since the 1990s.
Despite potential policy turbulence, there's a shift underway in the world of ESG investing. &#8220;We have observed a back-to-basics move in the direction of pragmatism,&#8221; says Goldman Sachs, noting that investors are increasingly focused on "materiality-driven links to fundamentals and performance." 
This approach could make sustainable investing less vulnerable to political shifts. Asset managers may seek clearer connections between ESG factors and financial returns.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Should You Buy the Dip in Solar Stocks?</h3>
For investors, the question is whether solar stocks are oversold or if more pain lies ahead.
Companies like First Solar are trading at four-year low valuations and almost single-digit price-to-earnings. Some traders might see an opportunity for long-term gains.

In the first three months following Trump's 2016 election, financials stocks saw significant gains. 
The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) rose by 17.2% between Nov. 8, 2016, and Jan. 10, 2017, outpacing all other sectors. The rally was driven by anticipation of deregulation and tax cuts, which boosted investor confidence in banks and other financial stocks.
