The Fund is an actively-managed exchange-traded fund (ETF) that will invest under normal circumstances primarily in domestic equity securities of companies that are relevant to the Funds investment theme of 5G enabled opportunistic investing. The Adviser defines 5G enabled opportunistic investing as investing in companies that, in the Advisers opinion, best leverage the proliferation of 5G internet and cloud-based products and services. Investments may include, but are not limited to, companies focusing on artificial intelligence and machine learning, robotic and smart manufacturing, cryptocurrency and digital payments, electric vehicles and self-driving vehicles, preventative health and remote surgery, and big data and data security. The Fund will not directly invest in cryptocurrency and does not currently intend to invest in any entity whose primary business purpose is to provide exposure to cryptocurrency but may have indirect exposure by investing in companies with exposure to cryptocurrency.

Music legend Elton John voiced strong opposition to the legalization of cannabis in the U.S., arguing that it is addictive and a gateway to more dangerous substances.
"I maintain that it's addictive. It leads to other drugs," said John, who was recently honored as TIME magazine&#8217;s &#8220;Icon of the Year.&#8221; Reflecting on his own experiences, he added, "When you're stoned — and I've been stoned — you don't think normally. Legalizing marijuana in America and Canada is one of the greatest mistakes of all time."
John, now 34 years sober, shared with TIME the turning point that led him to quit drugs and alcohol for good. While cocaine had been his drug of choice, his decision to change came after the death of a 13-year-old boy, marking a pivotal moment in his life.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Life-Changing Funeral Of Young AIDS Victim: Ryan White</h1>
"It all came to a climax, really, at the Ryan White funeral in Indianapolis — a really sad and emotional week — and I came back to the hotel thinking I'm just so out of line," John <a href="https://time.com/7201151/icon-of-the-year-2024-elton-john/">told</a> TIME. "It was a shock to see how far down the scale of humanity I'd fallen."
White was one of the first children to be stricken with AIDS. He was diagnosed at 13 in December 1984 after a blood transfusion and told he had six months to live. He died six years later in April 1990. During those years, Ryan gained national attention and became the face of public education about the disease that had especially devastated the homosexual community.
Shortly after Ryan's death, John checked into Chicago's Parkside Lutheran Hospital in July 1990 and remained sober ever since.
"You make terrible decisions on drugs," John said who stopped his touring in 2023. &#8220;It really upsets me, thinking back on how many people I probably hurt."
John credits White and his family with saving his life.
"I knew that my lifestyle was crazy and out of order. And six months later, I got sober and clean and have been ever since," John <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/arts/elton-john-credits-ryan-whites-family-with-saving-his-life">told</a> PBS in 2022. "I cannot thank them enough, because without them, I'd probably be dead." 
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Throwing The Baby Out With The Bathwater?</h1>
John, like many who've gone off drugs and alcohol, often contends that it's all or nothing. In the singer&#8217;s case, he said marijuana is a gateway drug, a controversial theory that <a href="https://sites.newpaltz.edu/news/2017/09/latest-benjamin-center-brief-debunks-marijuana-gateway-fallacy/#:~:text=The%20Benjamin%20Center%20for%20Public,harder%20drugs%20is%20a%20myth.">has been debunked</a> in scientific circles.
"It's tough to tell someone that they're being an a—hole, and it's tough to hear," he says, saying that when it came to getting sober, "Eventually I made the choice to admit that I'm being an a—hole."&nbsp;

Elton John, TIME's 'Icon Of The Year,' Says Legalizing Cannabis 'Is Greatest Mistake Of All Time'

President-elect Donald Trump is expected to be named the TIME Person of the Year, according to a new report. The official announcement will happen Thursday morning and could coincide with his first time ringing the opening bell at the<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/politics/24/12/42445514/trump-to-open-nyse-thursday-as-markets-surge"> New York Stock Exchange.</a>
What Happened: TIME recently released a short list of finalists for the 2024 TIME Person of the Year, which included both Trump and his <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/social-media/24/11/41784933/donald-trumps-wealth-soars-with-2024-election-win-heres-how-much-president-elect-is-worth-ho">2024 presidential election opponent</a> Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump has emerged as the winner, as <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/12/11/time-trump-person-of-the-year-000498">reported </a>by Politico. The award would mark the second for Trump, who also won the award back in 2016. Trump would become the first president to win the award since Joe Biden, who shared it with Harris in 2020.
Trump's win would also mark the first two-time win by a president since Barack Obama, who won the award in 2008 and 2012. A total of 14 U.S. presidents have won the award, which was first handed out in 1927.
Musician Taylor Swift <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/23/12/36118811/did-sam-altman-get-robbed-taylor-swift-wins-time-person-of-the-year-over-openai-founder">won the award last year </a>beating out a short list of finalists that included OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. TIME CEO Jessica Sibley rang the NYSE opening bell last year to mark the cover reveal. The timing of Trump's ringing of the bell and the award being officially announced by TIME on Thursday have now been linked by Politico.
The <a href="https://time.com/7200122/person-of-the-year-2024-shortlist/">short list </a>for this year's Person of the Year award included Trump, Harris, Kate Middleton, Elon Musk and Benjamin Netanyahu. Prior to narrowing the field to five finalists, Jerome Powell, Yulia Navalnaya, Joe Rogan, Claudia Sheinbaum and Mark Zuckerberg were also under consideration.
TIME has also been handing out additional awards in recent years. Caitlin Clark was named the Athlete of the Year by the media outlet. Elton John was named this year's Icon of the Year and Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>) Lisa Su was named CEO of the Year.

 Why It's Important: The TIME Person of the Year has named politicians, world leaders, celebrities and CEOs winners of the annual award. The award is not always given to a good person, but instead to the person who had the biggest affect on the things that happened in the past year.
Past wins by Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin have often been used to show the lack of importance of the award.
Trump has been critical of the award in the past and upset that he did not receive it on several occasions.
In 2013, Trump said the annual award was "a joke and stunt of a magazine that, like Newsweek, soon be dead."
Later in 2015 when he was a finalist on the list, Trump was critical for not making the cover over then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
"It means a lot, especially me growing up reading Time magazine. And you know, it's a very important magazine," Trump said at the time.
Coincidentally, the Trump prosecutors were among the finalists for last year's award, along with Altman, Swift, Vladimir Putin, Barbie, the Hollywood strikers, Xi Jinping, Powell and King Charles III.
Trump was the betting favorite on prediction sites like <a href="https://kalshi.com/markets/kxtime/times-person-of-the-year">Kalshi </a>and <a href="https://polymarket.com/event/time-2024-person-of-the-year?tid=1733870773380">Polymarket </a>with odds of around 80% prior to the Wednesday report that he was the winner of the award. Trump's odds stand at 99% on Kalshi and 98% on Polymarket at the time of writing.
Some may be upset that Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), didn't win this year's award with the surge in Tesla's stock price and his soaring wealth thanks to other ventures like xAI and SpaceX.
Musk <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/12/24568117/elon-musk-named-times-2021-person-of-the-year">won the award </a>in 2021. The billionaire and his supporters will likely be pleased that the presidential candidate he endorsed in the 2024 election won the award, if it had to go to someone else.

Donald Trump To Be Named TIME Person Of The Year, Beating Out Harris, Musk, Middleton, Netanyahu: Report

Perplexity AI&#8217;s revenue and usage <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/06/39405916/jeff-bezos-vision-inspires-perplexity-ai-ceo-as-he-takes-on-google-search-one-thing-ive-done-is">has grown 700% </a>since the start of the year after the artificial-intelligence tech startup closed a new $250 million round of funding. 
The AI-powered search engine said it answered about 250 million questions in the last month, up from 500 million queries for all of last year, the Financial Times <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/87af3340-2611-4650-9ae3-036927e9f65c">reported</a>.
San Francisco-based Perplexity, which was founded by former Google intern Aravind Srinivas, uses AI software to answer questions by taking information from the Internet in &#8220;real time,&#8221; the company said.
The company, which saw annualized revenue grow from $5 million to $35 million since the beginning of the year, is changing its business model from subscriptions to advertising to compete with search ads giant Google, which is owned by Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>).

Perplexity investors include AI chipmaker Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy and Meta Platform Inc.'s chief AI scientist Yann LeCun.
 Perplexity's revenue has come mostly from consumer and enterprise subscriptions, but it recently said it would bring advertising on to its platform by the end of September. 
It will split a "double-digit" percentage of its revenues on every sponsored article with cited news publishers that include Time, Der Spiegel and Fortune, chief business officer Dmitry Shevelenko told FT.
Forbes and Wired accused Perplexity of plagiarism in June, saying the AI startup reproduced stories without clear attribution and scraped websites that had explicitly blocked its crawlers. 
Shevelenko acknowledged the allegations and said the company has modified its user interface to make citations more prominent and ensure its responses do not summarize any websites, according to FT.

Perplexity AI's Revenue, Usage Skyrocket As It Enters Into Advertising

Since 1927, TIME magazine has awarded a person or persons the annual title of TIME Person of the Year. Here's a look at who could win the honors for 2023, which comes a year after Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/22/12/30002142/zelenskyy-is-time-person-of-the-year-beating-elon-musk-xi-jinping-janet-yellen-for-proving-courage-c">took home the honors.</a>
This year's shortlist and potential winner could ruffle some feathers given the controversies surrounding several candidates.
What Happened: Each year, TIME puts together <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/22/03/26413667/34-public-companies-that-made-times-100-most-influential-for-2022-amc-disney-ford-and-more">top 100 lists </a>and names the Person of the Year.
On Monday, the company <a href="https://time.com/6341947/person-of-the-year-2023-shortlist/">announced </a>its shortlist for Person of the Year 2023, which includes the following candidates.
Hollywood Strikers: The year 2023 saw a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/23/07/33223353/double-strike-in-hollywood-actors-and-writers-unite-in-work-stoppage"> strike in Hollywood</a> by both actors and writers, marking the first time both groups have been on strike simultaneously in over six decades. The Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild fought for a new contract that included clarity on the use of artificial intelligence by media companies and royalties from streaming deals.
Xi Jinping: The president of China is now in a third term and one of the most powerful leaders in the world. Controversy comes to Jinping with relations with the U.S. and international relations with Taiwan. Jinping has been on the Time 100 list several times and was the runner-up for the 2017 Person of the Year award.
Taylor Swift: The musician has been one of the most talked about people in 2023 and was recently named <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/23/11/36031768/taylor-swift-dominates-2023-named-spotifys-top-artist-with-26-1-billion-streams-a-look-at-t">the most streamed artist</a> for the year on Spotify Technology (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPOT#NYSE">SPOT</a>). In November 2022, demand for Swift's now record-breaking Eras Tour crashed the Ticketmaster website and led to a huge storyline for the ticket-selling website's parent company Live Nation Entertainment Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LYV#NYSE">LYV</a>). The ChatGPT parent company got <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/01/30526359/microsoft-forges-10b-investment-deal-with-chatgpt-maker-openai-bloomberg">$10 billion in funding</a> from Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) and kicked off increased interest of artificial intelligence.
Donald Trump Prosecutors: The former president <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/06/32789978/donald-trump-becomes-first-president-in-history-to-face-federal-charges">became the first president</a> in history to face federal charges. Over time, Donald Trump has now been charged in four cases with over 90 charges against him. Charges related to classified documents, election interference and business records make multiple court dates <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/23/08/33860911/trumps-jam-packed-court-calendar-will-legal-battles-derail-2024-white-house-campaign">on Trump's calendar</a> during his run for president in the 2024 election.
Barbie: The Mattel Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAT#NASDAQ">MAT</a>)-owned toy brand hit the big screen with a movie adaptation that <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/23/07/33351922/barbie-oppenheimer-set-box-office-records-its-the-first-top-10-weekend-missing-this-key-ing">broke records</a>. The movie <a href="https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/2023/?ref_=bo_yl_table_1">grossed </a>$636.2 million domestically and $1.44 billion worldwide, ranking as the top movie for 2023 for both categories. The movie also ranks 11th and 14th all-time for box office domestically and worldwide, respectively.
Vladimir Putin: The Russian president is on the shortlist and may make the list controversial in 2023 given his current role in the invasion of Ukraine. A rebellion by the Wagner group that was fought off is listed as an item that showed Putin's influence in the country and European region. Putin previously won Person of the Year in 2007 and was on the TIME 100 list in 2022.
King Charles III: The death of Queen Elizabeth II <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/22/09/28800770/queen-elizabeth-ii-dies-at-age-96-looking-at-legacy-of-longest-reigning-british-monarch-her-wealth-f">saw Charles ascend </a>to the throne in the U.K. The move comes after Elizabeth served as the head role for the Royal Family for 70 years.
Jerome Powell: The chairman of the Federal Reserve <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/21/06/21589003/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-federal-reserve-chair-jerome-powell">is a key figure</a> in the world of finance and with items such as high inflation, he has been more closely monitored. Powell was on the TIME 100 list in 2019 and 2020.
The winner will be announced Wednesday morning by TIME.

Why It's Important: The inclusion of Putin and Jinping on the list could be controversial given the relations with the U.S. Including the Trump prosecutors could also be controversial as it involves charges against a former president.
According to TIME, the Person of the Year is awarded to the person who was the biggest figure in the last year, both good or bad.
"TIME's annual selection of the individual, group, or concept that has had the most influence on the world throughout the previous 12 months," the magazine said.
In the past TIME has named several controversial world leaders as the Person of the Year including Adolf Hitler in 1938 and Joseph Stalin in 1939 and 1942.
In 2019, TIME introduced Entertainer of the Year and Athlete of the Year as subset categories. The media company also introduced an online poll for the public to select a winner, with Zelenskyy winning both the magazine and public award in 2022.
The list has included every president of the U.S. since the award began except for Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover and Gerald Ford.
Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos are among the business names to win the top award with Steve Jobs notable absent from winning the annual Person of the Year.

American author&nbsp;Walter Isaacson&nbsp;has shadowed Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tsla#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) CEO Elon Musk&nbsp;over the last three years and written his biography. The book is set to be released later this month.&nbsp;
In a new excerpt from the biography, Isaacson shares&nbsp;details of Musk&#39;s relationship with Neuralink director Shivon Zilis, with whom he quietly<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/22/08/28659656/musk-had-twins-with-neuralink-executive-shivon-zilis-through-ivf-report">&nbsp;fathered twins in late 2021</a>.
What To Know: Musk is the known father of nine children. His kids have several different mothers and have often been kept from the public eye. Musk&#39;s twins are the latest children to be unveiled to the world.&nbsp;
Isaacson shared a photo of Musk and Zilis with the twins in a&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/WalterIsaacson/status/1699400177839210591">X post</a> on Wednesday and included&nbsp;an excerpt from his book that ran in&nbsp;<a href="https://time.com/6310076/elon-musk-ai-walter-isaacson-biography/">Time</a>&nbsp;on Musk&#39;s struggles with artificial intelligence.&nbsp;
In the excerpt, Isaacson recalls the day Musk invited&nbsp;him to Zilis&#39; house for a chat where he captured the photo of the twins.&nbsp;
&quot;This past March, Musk texted me, &#39;There are a few important things I would like to talk to you about. Can only be done in person,&#39;&quot; Isaacson wrote.&nbsp;
&quot;He said we should leave our phones in the house while we sat outside, because, he said, someone could use them to monitor our conversation. But he later agreed that I could use what he said about AI in my&nbsp;book.&quot;
Musk then pondered what could be done to make AI safe, including actions that could be taken to &quot;assure that human consciousness survives.&quot;

<h3>Clinical Trial Highlights&nbsp;</h3>
The&nbsp;<a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://nyulangone.org/news/tablet-containing-cannabidiol-shows-promise-reducing-postoperative-pain" style="color: rgb(14, 16, 26); background: transparent; margin-top:0pt; margin-bottom:0pt;; color: #4a6ee0;" target="_blank">clinical trial</a>&nbsp;focused on&nbsp;examining CBD safety and its effect on postoperative pain,&nbsp;patient satisfaction and opioid consumption,&nbsp;post arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery.
The trial had 99 participants between the ages of 18 and 75 divided into two groups &ndash; one receiving &ldquo;buccally absorbed CBD,&rdquo; and the other control group placebo treatment. A day after surgery, patients receiving CBD showed on average&nbsp;23% less pain, compared to the placebo group, and a 22% to 25% greater level of satisfaction with pain control. There were no important side effects disclosed.

This June the administration confirmed it will consider safe consumption sites and cannabis decriminalization to address the public health emergency.&nbsp;
The Biden administration will prioritize &ldquo;harm reduction&rdquo; as a response to drug abuse while examining information on marijuana legalization and safe injection sites,&nbsp;White House drug czar, Dr. Rahul Gupta&nbsp;said last month.&nbsp;
&ldquo;For the first time in history, the federal government is embracing the specific policies of harm reduction,&rdquo; Gupta told the&nbsp;<a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.ft.com/content/22d569a2-f57f-4931-a079-b25197d13de4" style="color: rgb(14, 16, 26); background: transparent; margin-top:0pt; margin-bottom:0pt;; color: #4a6ee0;" target="_blank">Financial Times</a>.&nbsp;
As for marijuana legalization, Gupta noted that the White House position should be based on science by analyzing the experiences of the 19 states in the US that have already legalized adult use.

A list of the top 100 most influential companies highlighted four companies that have their hands in the fast-growing non-fungible token and metaverse markets. Here&rsquo;s a look at the four names on the list.
What Happened: Time, a leading magazine and digital media outlet, <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/time-reveals-its-2022-list-of-the-time100-most-influential-companies-in-the-world-301513777.html">named </a>the 100 most influential companies last week. Among the 100 names were<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/22/03/26413667/34-public-companies-that-made-times-100-most-influential-for-2022-amc-disney-ford-and-more"> 34 publicly traded companies</a>. The <a href="https://time.com/collection/time100-companies-2022/">list </a>broke companies down into the categories of pioneers, titans, leaders, innovators and disruptors.
Among the pioneers were four companies related to NFTs and the metaverse.
Opensea: Leading NFT marketplace OpenSea made the list thanks to &ldquo;fueling the NFT frenzy.&rdquo; OpenSea had $14 billion in transactions in 2021, making it the most popular marketplace for NFTs.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s possible that one day, nearly everything we own will be accounted for on the blockchain,&rdquo; OpenSea co-founder Devin Finzer said.
OpenSea has over one million users and could bring even more to the platform. The company, which is primarily focused on NFTs built on the Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) blockchain <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/22/03/26362631/opensea-announces-solana-nfts-coming-soon-here-are-the-details-and-timeline">announced </a>that Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>) NFTs will be coming to OpenSea in April.
The Sandbox: Virtual world company The Sandbox, which is owned by Animoca Brands, was named to the list by Time. The magazine calls the company a pioneer of the digital world, with hundreds of partnerships with brands and celebrities. Virtual land <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/12/24486183/want-to-own-land-in-the-metaverse-record-sales-happening-as-interest-picks-up">sold </a>in The Sandbox, which also has its own namesake token called The Sandbox (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sand/usd">SAND</a>), has passed $2 billion.
Over two million people are registered on The Sandbox.
Rec Room: Social virtual reality company Rec Room makes the list as &ldquo;a virtual playground.&rdquo; Time reports that 37 million people use the app to create and share games and experiences in the metaverse.
&ldquo;The platform has become a place where people can come together to form meaningful connections, build communities, and share their creativity,&rdquo; Rec Room CEO Nick Fajt said.
Together Labs: Named to the list for being a leader in &ldquo;metaverse money,&rdquo; Together Labs is a company known for digital currency transactions. The company <a href="https://venturebeat.com/2021/01/25/imvu-relaunches-as-together-labs-raises-35-million/">launched </a>VCoin in January 2021 thanks to an SEC ruling on virtual world payments in cryptocurrency.
Together Labs <a href="https://venturebeat.com/2022/01/27/together-labs-launches-metajuice-for-nft-games-and-apps/">launched </a>a new division called MetaJuice in January 2022 to grow the gaming and app segments on the blockchain. The division will allow people the ability to create, earn and own the metaverse.

Curaleaf Among TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies In The World

Non-fungible tokens have risen in interest and value over the last year, with Bored Ape Yacht Club among the most popular and valuable collections.
Here&rsquo;s what one of the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/how-to-buy-ethereum/">Ethereum </a>(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) co-founders had to say about the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
What Happened: The rise of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/how-to-buy-nfts">NFTs </a>has led to a rise in Ethereum&rsquo;s price and use cases.
Ethereum co-founder <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/09/22811912/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-ethereum-creator-vitalik-buterin">Vitalik Buterin</a> was <a href="https://time.com/6158182/vitalik-buterin-ethereum-profile/">interviewed </a>by TIME in a cover story, labeling him the &ldquo;Prince of Crypto.&rdquo;
In the interview, Buterin said there are increasing dangers with cryptocurrencies,&nbsp;including overeager investors and soaring transaction fees.
&ldquo;Crypto itself has a lot of dystopian potential if implemented wrong,&rdquo; Buterin said.
The Ethereum co-founder went on to take an apparent shot at Bored Ape Yacht Club, an NFT collection that was <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/07/22149211/bored-ape-yacht-club-what-to-know-about-the-hottest-nft-project-around">minted on the Ethereum blockchain </a>in April 2021.
&ldquo;The peril is you have these $3 million monkeys, and it becomes a different kind of gambling.&rdquo;
Buterin said a lot of people are buying yachts and lambos, but he hopes that in the future crypto is used for fair voting systems, urban planning and universal basic income.
&ldquo;If we don&rsquo;t exercise our voice, the only things that get built are the things that are immediately profitable.&rdquo;
Buterin, who has<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/22/02/25799146/glory-to-ukraine-russian-born-ethereum-creator-vitalik-buterin-says-very-upset-by-putins-d"> openly supported Ukraine</a> during the invasion of the country by neighbor Russia, highlighted the amount of money raised for the country through crypto, while once again mentioning Bored Apes.
&ldquo;One silver lining of the situation in the last three weeks is that is has reminded a lot of people in the crypto space that ultimately the goal of crypto is not to play games with million-dollar pictures of monkeys, it&rsquo;s to do things that accomplish meaningful effects in the real world,&rdquo; Buterin said in an email to TIME on Mar. 14, 2022.

Why It&rsquo;s Important: Bored Ape Yacht Club is one of the most popular NFT collections and has rewarded its holders over the last year with additional airdrops and the recently <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/22/03/26175548/apecoin-launched-by-yuga-labs-here-are-the-details-and-how-to-get-it">launched </a>token ApeCoin (CRYPTO:APE), which BAYC holders were able to claim.
The comments from Buterin could upset some in the crypto community, as it took a shot at a popular NFT collection. Ethereum has enjoyed a lot of success thanks to the rise of NFTs over the last year.
The most expensive Bored Ape transaction on OpenSea was 768 ETH, or around $2.25 million based on the current price of Ethereum.
Rare gold fur Bored Apes have sold for $3.5 million at Sotheby&rsquo;s and over $2.8 million on the LooksRare NFT marketplace.
The floor price on Bored Apes at the time of writing is 102 ETH, or around $298,545. The label of $3 million on pictures of monkeys could be a bit off base, as the majority of the Bored Ape NFTs have traded below this level.
Owners of Bored Ape NFTs and NFT investors and enthusiasts watching from the outside have seen that holding an NFT from the collection has been highly rewarding and likely wouldn&rsquo;t consider it gambling at this point.

A fast-rising NFT project announced a collaboration with one of the most well-known magazines of all time in a move that could bring continued validation to the non-fungible tokens space.
What Happened: Cool Cats, an NFT project of 9,999 blue cats that launched earlier in 2021, is collaborating with TIME magazine.

Oracle Corporation (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/orcl#NYSE">ORCL</a>) is creating a website and mobile applications for collecting data on the treatment of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) patients with antimalarial drugs, the Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/oracle-to-partner-with-trump-administration-to-collect-data-on-use-of-antimalarial-drugs-to-treat-covid-19/2020/03/24/ecbb8b76-6de2-11ea-b148-e4ce3fbd85b5_story.html">reported</a> Tuesday.
<h3>What Happened</h3>
Oracle is donating the project to the federal government, which will maintain oversight, according to the Post.
The platforms will collect information from doctors about administering the drugs to their coronavirus patients to determine their&nbsp;effectiveness based on data outside of more established methods of clinical trials.
The Trump administration is also exploring whether the participating doctors should receive bonus payments, the Post noted.
President Donald Trump was convinced of the effectiveness of two antimalarial drugs, chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, for the coronavirus after multiple conversations with Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, multiple officials familiar with the matter told the Post.
<h3>Why It Matters</h3>
Ellison is a long-term backer of Trump, and earlier this year held a fundraiser for his re-election bid, even as hundreds of employees walked out as a protest, Time <a href="https://time.com/5788484/oracle-employee-walkout-larry-ellison-trump/">reported</a> in February.
The president has publicly advocated for the use of both drugs for COVID-19 based on anecdotal evidence from China and France.
Many healthcare officials, including within the Trump administration, have called for more evidence, in particular for proper clinical trials to be conducted, before the drugs are recommended for COVID-19 patients.
&quot;Many of the things that you hear out there are what I had called anecdotal reports,&quot; White House Coronavirus Task Force member Anthony Fauci said on the antimalarial drugs on Saturday, as per the Post.
&quot;They may be true, but they&#39;re anecdotal. So the only thing that I was saying is that if you really want definitively to know if something works, that you&#39;ve got to do the kind of trial that you get, the good information.&quot;
At least 18,615 people across the globe have lost their lives to the deadly virus, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Nearly 418,000 have been infected, as the risk of further exponential spread remains.
<h3>Price Action</h3>
Oracle&#39;s shares closed 8.26% higher at $47.84 on Tuesday and traded another 0.23% higher in the after-hours session at $47.95.

The Department of Health and Human Services announced a new policy Wednesday to improve transparency in the pharmaceutical industry.
Starting this summer, TV commercials for prescription drugs covered by Medicaid or Medicare must mention the list price if it exceeds $35 for the standard treatment course or monthly supply.
&ldquo;Patients have a right to know, and if you&rsquo;re ashamed of your drug prices, change your drug prices,&rdquo; HHS Secretary Alex Azar told reporters Wednesday, <a href="http://time.com/5586552/drug-prices-television-ads/?xid=tcoshare#0e3bc275-fd0c-4675-9a34-1d012af032c3?utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=social-share-article">according to Time magazine</a>.&nbsp;
The policy has no enforcement mechanism but depends on companies suing rivals that violate the standard, Azar said.&nbsp;The HHS will also publish a list of drugs with non-compliant ads.
&ldquo;Patients who are struggling with high drug costs are in that position because of the high list prices that drug companies set,&rdquo; Azar said in a press release. &ldquo;Making those prices more transparent is a significant step in President Trump&rsquo;s efforts to reform our prescription drug markets and put patients in charge of their own healthcare.&rdquo;
While one company &mdash; Johnson &amp; Johnson (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/jnj#NYSE">JNJ</a>) &mdash; has already begun publicizing prices, others in the industry are averse to the practice. The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America opposed the new regulation.
&ldquo;We are concerned that the Administration&rsquo;s rule requiring list prices in direct-to-consumer television advertising could be confusing for patients and may discourage them from seeking needed medical care,&rdquo; the organization told the Associated Press.
The PhRMA <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/18/10/12507426/drug-companies-to-disclose-pricing-information-in-ads">established</a> industry principles in October that encourage voluntary price listing in commercials. The standards became effective April 15.
The federal mandate will affect, at the very least, the firms behind the 10 most advertised drugs in the industry. The Department of Health and Human Services noted the top 10 sell for between $488 and $16,938.
To supplement the ad initiative, President Donald Trump is urging Congress to craft bipartisan legislation combating unexpected medical costs.
One recommendation is to prevent out-of-network emergency doctors from sending patients balance bills. Others would establish constant out-of-pocket costs for in- and out-of-network providers, or would require providers to estimate out-of-pocket costs.

	What&#39;s Next?</h3>
Meredith is backed by the private equity arm of the <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/topic/koch-brothers">Koch brothers</a>, but they won&#39;t be seeking representation on Meredith&#39;s board and won&#39;t attempt to influence the editorial guidelines and procedures. Meredith also reaffirmed its commitment to pay an annual dividend of $2.08 per share post merger and expects to continue raising its dividend payout.
Time shares were up about 9 percent at $18.42, while Meredith shares were up about 6.5 percent at $64.95.

The Latest Media Merger: Meredith, Backed By Koch Brothers, To Buy Time

Time Inc (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/time#NYSE">TIME</a>) traded up 27 percent Thursday after Charles and David Koch were revealed as the backers of Meredith Corporation (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/mdp#NYSE">MDP</a>)&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/17/03/9121497/a-timeline-ahead-of-times-buyout">takeover </a>bid.
The Koch brothers agreed to back Meredith&rsquo;s purchase with more than $500 million, according to the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/15/business/media/koch-brothers-time-meredith.html">New York Times</a>&nbsp;&mdash; a figure that represents just 56 percent of their 2016 Republican campaign contribution <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/27/us/politics/kochs-plan-to-spend-900-million-on-2016-campaign.html">budget</a>.
As conservative billionaires known to buoy GOP candidates with generous checks, the Kochs&#39; interest in Meredith makes sense. The firm parallels the Kochs in <a href="https://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/lookup2.php?cycle=2018&amp;strID=C00010520">political contributions</a>, and a conservative social philosophy is evident in Meredith&rsquo;s parenting and lifestyle <a href="http://www.meredith.com/national-media/brands">magazines</a>.
Some of the Time <a href="https://www.timeinc.com/brands/">portfolio </a>makes sense, as well. The content of Fortune and Money appears to resonate with the Koch mission of advancing American prosperity.
But other components could be less poilitically compatible. Some <a href="http://freakonomics.com/podcast/how-biased-is-your-media/">consider </a>Time&rsquo;s titular publication to be&nbsp;<a href="https://www.allsides.com/bias/bias-ratings">left-leaning</a> or <a href="http://libguides.libraries.wsu.edu/c.php?g=294288&amp;p=1960045">centrist</a>, and the Kochs may see opportunity to influence the widely read People, Entertainment Weekly and even Sports Illustrated platforms to better align with their philosophy.
Their level of editorial sway, should Meredith successfully acquire Time, isn&#39;t yet known.

What Would The Koch Brothers Do With Time, People?

Biz is <a href="https://medium.com/@biz/whats-happening-with-me-73e0192c54e8">back</a>, but his excitement to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/17/05/9474368/biz-stone-is-going-back-to-twitter">return</a> to Twitter Inc (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/twtr#NYSE">TWTR</a>), a company crippled by public criticism and metric declines, hasn&rsquo;t exactly resonated with investors.
Although Biz Stone's Tuesday announcement initially prompted a 2-percent stock spike, shares ultimately closed down 6 percent on the day.
And the Street&rsquo;s gut instincts are valid. Since fellow co-founder<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/17/03/9190578/pressure-on-jack-dorsey-could-be-positive-for-twitter-sh"> Jack Dorsey</a> reclaimed his leadership in 2015, seven years after relinquishing his first gig as Twitter CEO, the company&rsquo;s stock has fallen 48 percent.
Plagued by <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/17/04/9355672/heard-this-one-before-twitters-users-grow-revenue-falters">diminished</a> ad revenue in spite of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/17/04/9347320/twitter-flies-higher-following-q1-earnings-beat">peaks</a> in daily and monthly <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/17/04/9347381/twitters-daily-active-users-finally-shows-some-solid-growth">active users</a>, Twitter remains unstable. In February when it posted a miss in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/17/02/9017131/twitter-nosedives-after-q4-revenue-miss-tepid-outlook">fourth-quarter</a> sales, technology expert <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/17/02/9018905/tech-expert-what-twitter-has-to-do-to-survive">Sean Udall</a> said its survival now depends on fundamental platform changes.
<h3>A Stone Foundation</h3>
Stone might be the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/17/05/9487675/6-great-things-biz-stone-could-do-for-twitter">difference</a> between life or death. After all, creativity is his specialty.
The trained designer has co-founded three ventures apart from Twitter, including his most recent project, Jelly Industries, Inc., which he sold to <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2017/3/8/14857360/pinterest-jelly-acquisition">Pinterest</a> in March. Before Twitter, Stone co-founded and served as chief creative officer for both Medium.com and The Obvious Corporation.
Building something from nothing is a critical startup skill, and it may stimulate the transformation Twitter needs. At least, that seems to be Dorsey&rsquo;s hope. Stone&rsquo;s new role is vaguely to invigorate the company with start-up energy.
<h3>PR Power</h3>
But he may also prove instrumental in addressing public relations concerns stunting Twitter&rsquo;s popularity. Many users have <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/16/12/8851149/jack-dorsey-wants-to-know-how-you-would-improve-twitter">criticized</a> Dorsey&rsquo;s responses to inflammatory speech and violations of public code on the site, and Stone at least verbally empathizes.

A recent retweet laments that performance is measured by DAUs and revenue rather than community impact, and he has long lauded the platform for its role in diplomacy and <a href="http://www.npr.org/2011/02/16/133775340/twitters-biz-stone-on-starting-a-revolution">democracy</a>.
&ldquo;As I truly believe, and as I&rsquo;ve written before, the Tweets must flow,&rdquo; Stone wrote in his return <a href="https://medium.com/@biz/whats-happening-with-me-73e0192c54e8">announcement</a>. &ldquo;Twitter has woven itself into the fabric of our global society. <h3>Building Bridges</h3>
Even if he can&rsquo;t win brand loyalty from consumers, he might be valuable in improving relations with other players in the social media space. Stone maintains a perspective on the industry that&rsquo;s fairly noncompetitive and openly acknowledges the distinct merits of rivals.
