The lawsuit marks <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/01/36880984/gop-attor-ney-gen-er-al-in-texas-sues-five-cities-to-stop-voter-approved-mar-i-jua-na-reform-say">the second time that Paxton has sued the city</a>, intensifying his legal battle against local cannabis reforms.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">New Cannabis Decriminalization Rules Take Effect in Dallas</h3>
Proposition R, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/11/41790734/texas-cannabis-election-dallas-lockhart-bastrop-voters-say-yes-to-marijuana-decriminalization">passed by 66% of Dallas voters on November 5</a>, prohibits police from making arrests or issuing citations for low-level marijuana possession. It also bars officers from using the smell of marijuana as probable cause, unless investigating felonies and mandates that misdemeanor marijuana offenses be a low enforcement priority.&nbsp;
<a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2024/11/21/ag-ken-paxton-sues-dallas-over-decriminalizing-marijuana/">According</a> to The Dallas Morning News, city officials began enforcing the amendment this week, despite warnings of legal challenges.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Texas AG Claims Cities Cannot Override State Drug Laws</h3>
Nevertheless, Paxton contends that the amendment violates state law, asserting that cities cannot override Texas drug statutes. &#8220;The city of Dallas has no authority to override Texas drug laws or prohibit the police from enforcing them,&#8221; Paxton <a href="https://texasattorneygeneral.gov/news/releases/attorney-general-ken-paxton-sues-city-dallas-ballot-measure-prohibiting-police-enforcing-marijuana">said</a> in a press release on Thursday. 
&#8220;This is a backdoor attempt to violate the Texas Constitution and any city that tries to constrain police in this fashion will be met swiftly with a lawsuit by my office,&#8221; he added.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Paxton Vs. Texas Voter-Backed Cannabis Reforms</h3>
This legal action is part of a broader effort by Paxton to challenge a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/11/41764202/dallas-overwhelming-approves-cannabis-decriminalization-in-ballot-vote">statewide trend of voter-led initiatives aimed at decriminalizing cannabis</a>. Earlier this year, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/02/37018142/texas-city-slated-to-decriminalize-weed-despite-ag-paxtons-lawsuit-against-five-cities-over-amne">he sued five other cities</a> -Austin, Denton, Elgin, Killeen and San Marcos- over similar measures.&nbsp;
Furthermore, Paxton has repeatedly argued that municipalities lack the authority to override state law, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/01/36880984/gop-attor-ney-gen-er-al-in-texas-sues-five-cities-to-stop-voter-approved-mar-i-jua-na-reform-say">calling the actions of these cities</a> "pro-crime extremism."

Advocacy group Ground Game Texas (GGT), which supported Proposition R, criticized Paxton's lawsuit as baseless. Supporters have also highlighted its potential to reduce racial disparities in arrests and prevent the misuse of public funds.
"It's unfortunate but not surprising that Attorney General Ken Paxton has apparently chosen to waste everyone's time and money by filing yet another baseless lawsuit against marijuana decriminalization," said Catina Voellinger, executive director of GGT, according to The Dallas Morning News.
This clash highlights the growing divide between Texas' restrictive cannabis laws and grassroots movements pushing for reform. California, known for its ideal climate and rich cannabis history, is regarded as one of the best places to grow weed. The state has also led U.S. cannabis reform, from the first legalization ballot initiative in 1972 to becoming the first state to legalize medical marijuana in 1996. A decade later, in 2016, it legalized recreational use. Since then, California, home to the world's largest cannabis market, has faced significant challenges.
Small pot farms in regions like the Emerald Triangle have struggled to survive due to oversupply and falling prices, <a href="https://www.sfgate.com/cannabis/article/california-cannabis-farms-struggle-19907579.php">writes</a> SF Gate. Issues like <a href="https://anresco.com/exclusive-we-tested-top-california-prerolls-for-potency-inflation/">inappropriate labeling</a>, lab shopping, and a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/top-stories/24/06/39487551/pesticide-contamination-poses-serious-health-risks-in-californias-cannabis-industry">pesticide scandal</a> have also plagued the industry. While legal cannabis sales <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39195663/legal-california-cannabis-market-on-the-verge-of-collapse-while-illegal-growers-thrive-destroyin">decline</a>, cartel operations <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39188435/californias-cartel-cannabis-flourishes-in-national-parks-weed-grown-on-public-lands-accounts-for">thrive in national parks</a>.
To explore these challenges, we spoke to Josh Wurzer, chief compliance officer and co-founder of SC Labs, one of the first to raise concerns about pesticide testing. "From the beginning, our goal has been to be the most science-focused testing laboratory in the cannabis industry," Wurzer told Benzinga.
"We are committed to promoting safe cannabis consumption by ensuring the quality and safety of cannabis cultivation and product manufacturing. Our passion for the plant drives us to support research into its chemical composition, exploring how these compounds influence the flavor, aroma, and unique effects of different strains."
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pesticides, Inaccurate Labeling And Lab Shopping</h2>
In 2023, there was a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39505507/cannabis-recall-in-california-after-investigation-finds-dangerous-pesticides-in-popular-weed-pro">cannabis recall</a> after an investigation found dangerous pesticides in popular weed products and a lawsuit against <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39533403/california-lawsuit-takes-aim-at-cannabis-lab-shopping-as-dangerous-pesticides-end-up-in-popular-">cannabis lab shopping</a>. According to Wurzer, who is also a board member of multiple cannabis industry organizations, including the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), lab shopping has become a significant issue within the testing industry.
"This problem primarily stems from the fact that the THC concentration in cannabis and cannabis concentrates has become a key factor in determining the wholesale price of these products. This creates a strong incentive for growers and manufacturers to seek out laboratories that report the highest THC concentrations, regardless of the accuracy of the data," he said.
He added that cannabis is vulnerable to pests like spider mites and fungal pathogens like powdery mildew. With no approved pesticides and strict testing requirements, managing these threats is challenging and expensive. Some producers bypass detection by using lenient labs.
While regulators are in charge of overseeing the quality of lab testing, growers and producers are those financially impacted by unfavorable results, Wurzer adds. Without the enforcement of penalties for these actions, "unethical behavior is incentivized."
"I certainly don&#8217;t envy our regulators," he said. "Many of them are working hard to do the best they can within the constraints of the current rules and restrictions. It&#8217;s no small task to try and organize an industry that has been so fragmented, especially when so many people are struggling financially, and there are numerous competing interests at play."

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cannabis Will Likely Always Be Affected By HLVd</h2>
In 2019, a hop-latent viroid (HLVd) was identified as an infectious pathogen devastating cannabis farms in California by infiltrating plants and ruining entire crops just before they're ready for harvest. According to a 2021 estimate, it affected 90% of California cannabis crops.
Wurzer explained that cannabis will likely always be affected by HLVd, the same way that potato farmers are continuously plagued with the Mosai Virus. However, the cannabis industry has developed a support system that enables growers to mitigate HLVd&#8217;s effects. This has enabled the breeding of resistant strains, improving hygiene practices in nurseries and conducting regular monitoring through testing.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fixing Some Of The Challenges</h2>
In view of HLVd, dangerous pesticides and inaccurate labeling, the question is: have California consumers lost trust in the state&#8217;s legal cannabis products? This could be one of the reasons why the illicit market is still thriving; consumers are turning to cheaper products. Wurzer notes that the price difference between regulated and black markets is significant.
Another challenge comes from the hemp market and the confusion about what is and is not legal. To save the industry, regulators need to address the competition from intoxicating cannabinoids in the hemp market, which is currently mostly unregulated and flooded with dangerous synthetic chemicals, he explains.
Wurzer suggests reducing taxes and regulatory burdens on growers and producers without compromising the quality and safety of products. Profiteers selling unsafe products need to be disincentivized, and ultimately, "the path forward must include federal legalization."
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Finest Cannabis In The World</h2>
Wurzer believes there's no other place on earth that can match the quality of cannabis grown in California, and "as long as that remains true, we have a real opportunity to fix this mess."
Once cannabis is allowed to cross state lines, California will have a significant advantage, he adds. "No one will want to purchase inferior synthetic THC flowers from other states when they can get high-quality sun-grown flowers from Mendocino, Humboldt, and Santa Cruz. I&#8217;ll confidently put our sun-grown flowers up against the best indoor cannabis produced anywhere else in the world, and I have the lab data to back up those claims."
In April 2023, SC Labs partnered with another major laboratory network to develop the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/23/04/31680816/sc-labs-and-act-laboratories-launch-trust-in-testing-certification-to-set-a-higher-standard-for-">Trust in Testing Certification</a> a set of enhanced national standards for cannabis testing. This program is "designed to address some of the gaps in state regulations that have allowed unscrupulous labs to produce questionable data or manipulate the system," Wurzer details. There's been a significant interest from retailers looking for a trustmark that provides confidence in the products they offer. SC Lab's goal is to establish a group of laboratories dedicated to doing things the right way.

Nike shares trade near 52-week lows after <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/10/41129610/nike-q1-earnings-revenue-miss-eps-beat-teams-energized-amid-ceo-transition-a-comeback-at-this-scale">first-quarter financial results</a> saw revenue miss analyst estimates and analysts weigh how quickly a new CEO can help turnaround the company.
"A comeback at this scale takes time, but we see early wins – from momentum in key sports to accelerating our pace of newness and innovation," Nike CFO Matthew Friend said after the Q1 results. "Our teams are energized as Elliott Hill returns to lead Nike's next stage of growth."
Investors could also be closely watching Nike stock to see how <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/asia/24/11/41796941/trump-2-0-a-sneaker-heads-nightmare-your-next-pair-of-nikes-or-vans-could-cost-a-pretty-penny-heres">big of an impact </a>Trump's promise to increase tariffs on other countries could hurt the company.

Analysts expect the company to report quarterly revenue of $1.56 billion, up from $1.41 billion in last year's third quarter. Analysts also expect quarterly earnings per share of $2.12, up from $2.07 in last year's third quarter. 
Autodesk has beaten analyst estimates for revenue and earnings per share both in five straight quarters. Over the last 10 quarters, Autodesk has beaten analyst estimates for revenue eight times and earnings per share eight times. The company said that it <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/08/40639874/autodesk-stock-jumps-5-on-q2-earnings-the-details">was focusing on </a>disciplined execution and seeing GAAP margins among the best in the sector.
Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost said these factors &#8220;will deliver sustainable shareholder value over many years.&#8221;

The Details: Super Micro, in the compliance plan, said it believes it will be able to file both its 2024 fiscal-year earnings and its 2025 fiscal-year first-quarter earnings within Nasdaq&#8217;s acceptable discretionary time.
Previously, the company reported that it was unable to file its earnings on time for multiple reasons, including the resignation of its previous independent accounting firm, Ernest &amp; Young. The company also explained that its management team needs to time to review the company&#8217;s financial statements and internal controls. 
On Monday the company <a href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/42111748">announced</a> that it has appointed BDO USA as its independent auditor.
"BDO is a highly respected accounting firm with global capabilities.&nbsp;This is an important next step to bring our financial statements current, an effort we are pursuing with both diligence and urgency," said&nbsp;Charles Liang, president and CEO of SuperMicro.

Joe Lonsdale and Stephen Cohen, Peter Thiel&#8217;s close associates, joined the billionaire club thanks to a massive rise in Palantir&#8217;s stock value following Trump's reelection. They own only a small slice of the company – less than 2% each – but it&#8217;s more than enough to make them new billionaires.

Palantir, the secretive software company known for its work with government agencies, has seen its stock price shoot up more than 270% this year, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42094248/trumps-return-boosts-palantir-national-security-bets-drive-140-billion-market-cap">partly because of Trump's victory</a> and the expectation of increased defense spending. With deep ties to government contracts and projects that align well with Trump's priorities, investors seem to be betting big on Palantir's future.
Joe Lonsdale, who left Palantir in 2009, still holds about a 1% stake in the company, which Forbes estimates is worth roughly $1 billion. Lonsdale, who's been <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/politics/24/06/39557155/palantir-co-founders-thiel-lonsdale-back-trump-in-2024-election-id-rather-have-him-than-biden">vocal about his support for Trump's reelection</a>, called this moment &#8220;morning again in America&#8221; and tweeted, &#8220;Daddy&#8217;s Home.&#8221; Through his venture firm 8VC, he's invested in other defense and software companies, solidifying his role as a key figure.

Stephen Cohen, who's still president of Palantir, owns about 1.5% of the company's shares. He and Lonsdale worked closely with Peter Thiel, Palantir's better-known cofounder and were part of Thiel's inner circle during the company&#8217;s early days. Both men – in their early forties – now have significant fortunes due to their involvement in the company, all thanks to their early involvement and the recent surge in its value.
Palantir's recent stock jump hasn't just benefited Lonsdale and Cohen. The two other cofounders, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/24/11/42028954/peter-thiel-says-trumps-60-china-tariff-would-be-very-very-bad-for-beijing-heres-whats-at-stake">Peter Thiel</a> and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/08/40437321/palantirs-alex-karp-defends-military-partnerships-stands-firm-on-pro-western-stance-report">Alex Karp</a>, have been billionaires for quite some time now. The company's valuation <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/24/11/42039361/palantir-soars-to-150b-market-cap-as-analysts-flag-risks-in-valuation-insider-sales">reached a staggering $150 billion</a> last week, fueled by increased revenues and strong government contracts, including a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/09/40957619/palantir-wins-deal-worth-multi-million-dollars-to-expand-maven-smart-system-across-us-army-air-f">new $99.8 million deal</a> that pushed its quarterly earnings to an all-time high. 'Daddy's Home' – Palantir Creates Two New Billionaires After Trump's Win. Both Own Less Than 2% Stock And Are Thiel's Favorites

Jack Mallers, CEO of payment platform Strike, has made a powerful case for the United States to embrace Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) as a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42121376/strategic-bitcoin-reserve-wouldnt-require-new-taxpayer-dollars-says-sen-cynthia-lummis">strategic reserve asset</a>.
What Happened: In an <a href="https://x.com/jackmallers/status/1859608923344421177">interview</a> with CNBC on Thursday, Mallers compared the potential adoption of Bitcoin by the U.S. government to pivotal moments in economic history, including Nixon's departure from the gold standard in 1971.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Vision For Bitcoin As A National Asset</h3>
Mallers argued that Bitcoin's decentralized and transparent nature aligns perfectly with American values such as equal rights and open opportunity. 
He described Bitcoin as &#8220;an asset that was accessible to the people 15 years ago, that the people own. Governments only own 2, 3, 4% of this asset.&#8221;
According to Mallers, embracing Bitcoin is a way for the U.S. to remain <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42098407/donald-trump-reportedly-eyeing-the-first-crypto-focused-role-in-the-white-house">competitive and innovative</a>.
"It acts in the best interest of the public. It's pro jobs, it's pro energy, it's pro industry, it's pro growth," he said. 
Highlighting the national debt crisis, Mallers rhetorically asked, &#8220;Does anyone else have a plan to get us out of debt? Are we going to start a lemonade stand out here in Times Square? No. How about the best-performing asset in the history of mankind?&#8221;

Mallers dismissed the notion that people are &#8220;too late&#8221; to invest in Bitcoin, calling it a distraction rooted in comparison to early adopters. 
"People think they're late to Bitcoin. I don't understand that. Late according to who? Over the last 15 years, the best thing you could have done is buy Bitcoin," he said. 
Mallers went on to assert that this would hold true for the &#8220;next 1,500 years.&#8221;
With the U.S. national debt ballooning and global competitors embracing Bitcoin, Mallers emphasized the urgency of acting now. 
"As a country, I think we have a choice. I think the worst thing we can do is not own enough," he warned. 
He urged the U.S. to support its homegrown crypto businesses, saying, "Coinbase (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>) is an American company, Strike is an American company, Kraken is an American company. Let's support these businesses, let's support this industry."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Pro-Growth And Pro-Innovation</h3>
Mallers aligned Bitcoin adoption with the values of the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42122348/trumps-planned-crypto-council-may-oversee-bitcoin-reserve-report">incoming U.S. administration</a>, which he sees as an opportunity to drive growth and innovation.
"As this new administration takes office, we have to make a decision. To de-risk this, we should buy some Bitcoin and push American ideals in technology and innovation through the best-performing asset and technology in mankind," he said.

A recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reveals that Nvidia <a href="https://app.quotemedia.com/data/downloadFiling?webmasterId=90423&amp;ref=318071441&amp;type=PDF&amp;symbol=NVDA&amp;cdn=d9da84c7d94a575232b5d5c1b0a4d6da&amp;companyName=NVIDIA+Corporation&amp;formType=13F-HR&amp;formDescription=Quarterly+report+filed+by+institutional+managers%2C+Holdings&amp;dateFiled=2024-02-14">holds 1,960,784 shares</a> of ARM stock. These have a combined value of $147,343,114.



It isn&rsquo;t just ARM stock that Nvidia is interested in. The company also revealed stakes in Nano-X Imaging (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nnox-stock-quote/">NNOX</a>), Recursion Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/rxrx-stock-quote/">RXRX</a>), SoundHound AI (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/soun-stock-quote/">SOUN</a>) and Tusimple&nbsp;(OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSPH#OTC">TSPH</a>) in that same filing.



Nvidia taking such a large stake in ARM stock is interesging considering it <a href="https://fortune.com/2024/02/14/nvidia-reports-stake-in-arm-ai-semiconductor-chips/">once tried to acquire the company</a> for $40 billion. That deal was shut down but it doesn&rsquo;t look like Nvidia has lost interest in the British semiconductor company.



<h2>How This Affects ARM Stock</h2>



News of Nvidia buying nearly $150 million worth of ARM stock have the company&rsquo;s shares on a wild ride today. The stock surged as much as 50% during pre-market trading on Thursday. However, the shares have mostly settled since then and are currently only up 2% as of this morning.



Trading activity for ARM stock also isn&rsquo;t as high as one might expect at about 855,000 shares this morning. That&rsquo;s still well below the company&rsquo;s daily average trading volume of roughly 12.6 million shares.

Nvidia Is Betting Big on ARM Stock

The Silicon Valley giant recently <a href="https://www.investors.com/news/technology/nvidia-discloses-stakes-in-arm-soundhound-ai-nano-x-and-more/">disclosed investments</a> in several of its tech sector peers, including Nano-X Imaging (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nnox-stock-quote/">NNOX</a>). The medical imaging company isn&rsquo;t well known outside of its niche market, but since news broke of Nvidia&rsquo;s stake, NNOX stock has been surging. 



Nvidia doesn&rsquo;t rank among the company&rsquo;s top shareholders or even close to it. But its investment has given the stock a much-needed catalyst, thrusting Nano-X into the spotlight and sending shares up by more than 50% in just a few hours. 



Nano-X Imaging isn&rsquo;t the only company that Nvidia is betting on. However, out of the five stocks named in the <a href="https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0001045810/4b0dec87-dde5-41c3-9f4b-b0157a47d2af.pdf">recent 13F filing</a>, NNOX is the best performer so far today. This could be the start of a turnaround for the little-known company that plunged in June 2023 and hasn&rsquo;t been able to make up the ground it lost.



<h2>What&rsquo;s Happening With NNOX Stock</h2>



NNOX stock is still one of today&rsquo;s <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/02/todays-biggest-pre-market-stock-movers-10-top-gainers-and-losers-on-thursday-feb-15th/">top market movers</a> despite losing some momentum since <a href="https://www.investors.com/news/technology/nvidia-discloses-stakes-in-arm-soundhound-ai-nano-x-and-more/">surging 125%</a> this morning. As of this writing, it is up more than 52% for the day. This is a better performance than SoundHound AI (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/-stock-quote/"></a><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/soun-stock-quote/">SOUN</a>) or China&rsquo;s Tusimple Holdings (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsph-stock-quote/">TSPH</a>), both of which received larger investments from Nvidia. In fact, out of the five companies named, Nano-X is the chipmaker&rsquo;s smallest position, encompassing only 379,856 shares.



This comes at a time when the company certainly needed a boost. NNOX stock has been declining since the summer of 2023, failing to demonstrate any sustainable growth. The company managed to hover among penny stock status but could never stay too far above it, rarely rising above $6 per share. Now, NNOX is nearing $10 and could easily pass it today. 



This performance led to a negative sentiment from many experts. In September 2023, as NNOX continued trending downward, InvestorPlace contributor Chandler Capital <a href="https://investorplace.com/2023/09/ticking-time-bombs-3-biotech-stocks-to-dump-before-the-damage-is-done/">issued a bearish take</a> on the stock, speculating:




&ldquo;We immediately see an excessive valuation that is seemingly only propped up by its most loyal of investors. With&nbsp;<a href="https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/NNOX/valuation/metrics" target="_blank">a trailing P/S of 36x</a>&nbsp;compared to its industry median of 3.52x, this stock is certainly overvalued. Until this company can reach a more reasonable valuation and stable metrics, I highly advise all investors to stay away from this ticking time bomb.&rdquo;




Clearly, Nvidia disagreed with this assessment. The tech sector leader has spent the past year making market history. Most recently, it became the world&rsquo;s <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/02/nvda-stock-alert-nvidia-is-now-the-no-3-most-valuable-company-in-the-world/">third most valuable company</a> by market value. While it may not stay there for long, Nvidia is the undisputed leader of the artificial intelligence (AI) boom, and its power cannot be understated. Therefore, no one should ignore the bets it has made on companies in the tech space. 



<h2>What Comes Next</h2>



Given Nano-X&rsquo;s lack of status among <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/technology/">tech stocks</a>, it&rsquo;s hard to say if its current momentum will continue. However, the company is now on the radar of the entire investing world after only having <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/nnox/forecast">two takes</a> from Wall Street analysts. Investors are paying attention to the stocks that Nvidia is betting on. That said, Nano-X does operate in a lucrative field. The medical imaging market is <a href="http://6.2%">expected to expand </a>at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.2% between 2024 and 2030. If it does, NNOX stock will likely continue making progress.

In a report for the 2023 fiscal year filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company <a href="https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0001045810/4b0dec87-dde5-41c3-9f4b-b0157a47d2af.pdf">revealed positions</a> in five smaller companies, revealing what its leaders saw as the best stocks to buy over the past year. 



This list included companies, both large and small, including penny stock SoundHound (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/soun-stock-quote/">SOUN</a>). However, thanks to <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/02/nvidia-is-betting-on-soundhound-ai-soun-stock/">Nvidia&rsquo;s investment</a>, it may not be trading below the $5 mark for long. Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives i<a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/soundhound-stock-price-nvidia-investment-artificial-intelligence-ai-stock-market-rally-2024-2">ssued the following take</a> in a note to investors today:




&ldquo;We view this as a positive indicator for the company as this investment now further solidifies the company&rsquo;s brand within the AI Revolution with the Godfather of AI Jensen and NVDA now backing SOUN and we believe this could be the start of a broader investment into the company down the line which is a clear tailwind.&rdquo;

Since going public in September 2023, Arm Holdings (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/arm-stock-quote/">ARM</a>) has performed very well. The British semiconductor producer has risen more than 107% over the past six months. 



As InvestorPlace contributor Charles Munyi notes, this <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/02/the-3-best-ai-stocks-to-buy-in-february-2024/">can be attributed</a> to soaring demand for graphic processing units (GPUs). Nvidia also makes these key AI products, which is likely the reason it <a href="https://fortune.com/2024/02/14/nvidia-reports-stake-in-arm-ai-semiconductor-chips/">tried to acquire Arm</a> in 2020 in a deal worth $40 billion. While antitrust pressure ultimately stopped it, that didn&rsquo;t stop Nvidia from acquiring a sizable chunk of the company. According to the <a href="https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0001045810/4b0dec87-dde5-41c3-9f4b-b0157a47d2af.pdf">13F filing</a>, it currently owns 1,960,784 shares of ARM stock, a total value of $147,343,114. 



<h2>Nano-X Imaging (NNOX)</h2>

This medical imaging company isn&rsquo;t well known, but it has been surging since news broke of Nvidia&rsquo;s investment. Nano-X Imaging (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nnox-stock-quote/">NNOX</a>) is the smallest position out of the five, with Nvidia owning only 59,632 shares, worth $379,856 combined. However, NNOX stock <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/02/nano-x-imaging-nnox-stock-soars-50-on-nvidia-investment/">surged more than 50% </a>this morning and has barely dipped, indicating that its ride isn&rsquo;t over yet. If Nvidia bought its shares anytime after the summer of 2023, then it likely acquired NNOX at a discounted price, making it a highly strategic investment. It seems that the tech giant knows which stocks to buy when they are on a dip.



This could be the turning point that Nano-X needs to start making up the ground it has lost since then. It operates in a lucrative, albeit niche, market that is <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/global-medical-imaging-market-size-112000714.html#:~:text=GlobeNewswire-,Global%20Medical%20Imaging%20Market%20Size%2C%20Share%20%26%20Growth%20Analysis%2C%20%5B,%5D%20%7C%20With%20CAGR%20of%206.2%25&amp;text=As%20per%20the%20report%20by,6.2%25%20during%20the%20forecast%20period.">projected to reach</a> a $61.51 billion valuation by 2030. For companies in the space, that means ample room to run, which Nvidia clearly thinks NNOX stock can do. 



<h2>Stocks to Buy: Recursion Pharmaceuticals (RXRX)</h2>

The only company on this list not in the tech space, Recursion Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/rxrx-stock-quote/">RXRX</a>) may strike some as an odd choice for an investor like Nvidia. However, the company does offer investors some AI exposure. In fact, it features a platform powered by AI that is <a href="https://investorplace.com/2023/12/3-genomics-stocks-to-unlock-the-future-of-medicine/">helping its peers</a> in the genomics and biotech&nbsp;spaces. The pharmaceutical innovator has enjoyed a year of mostly steady growth, with share prices roughly doubling since early 2023. It&rsquo;s also the largest holding out of the five stocks on this list, with Nvidia holding 7,706,363 shares. 



While RXRX stock hasn&rsquo;t risen today by as much as NNOX, it has still spent the day slowly trending upward. And Nvidia isn&rsquo;t the only one betting on it. Famed contrarian investor Cathie Wood of Ark Invest also saw it as a clear choice among stocks to buy after Recursion announced its new platform. Her funds <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/01/cathie-wood-is-betting-big-on-recursion-pharmaceuticals-rxrx-stock/">purchased 74,000 shares</a> of RXRX stock, making it a <a href="https://ark-funds.com/funds/arkg/">top 10 holding</a> in its ARK Genomic Revolution ETF (BATS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/arkg-stock-quote/">ARKG</a>). The list of prominent names throwing their weight behind Recursion only seems to be growing. 



<h2>SoundHound AI (SOUN)</h2>

Even in the throes of the AI boom, it&rsquo;s been hard for SoundHound AI to find real momentum. This penny stock has seen some growth during the AI gold rush, but it has still struggled to demonstrate any real growth. However, Nvidia&rsquo;s bet on SOUN stock sent it soaring, pushing shares up by more than 50% today. While it still trades at penny stock levels, if this growth continues, it could easily rise above $5 per share soon. As InvestorPlace contributor Jeremy Flint reports:

Voice recognition is a small but growing field, and as AI stocks like SOUN show us, the total addressable market is as wide as a company can adapt its tech to serve.&rdquo;




Flint speculated that SoundHound could become the next Palantir Technologies (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pltr-stock-quote/">PLTR</a>). Nvidia evidently agrees with that analogy, as it has purchased 1,730,883 shares of SOUN stock. This type of endorsement could be exactly what the small-cap company needs to show investors that it is worth betting on.



<h2>Stocks to Buy: TuSimple Holdings (TSPH)</h2>

Nvidia&rsquo;s bet on this Chinese autonomous trucking technology company likely turned some heads for one reason: TuSimple (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsph-stock-quote/">TSPH</a>) is a microcap stock that trades at much lower levels than even SoundHound, with a market cap of just over $105 million. Even after rising almost 35%, TSPH still trades at only $0.48 per share. However, Nvidia clearly saw it as a key opportunity to buy a company with high growth potential on a dip. It finished 2023 with 3,465,372 TuSimple shares. The fact that this stock has spent the past six months bleeding out 70% further suggests that Nvidia is optimistic about its growth prospects. 



For all that, investors should be careful to account for TuSimple&rsquo;s progress. In June 2023, it <a href="https://ir.tusimple.com/press-releases/news-details/2023/TuSimple-Becomes-First-to-Successfully-Operate-Driver-Out-Fully-Autonomous-Semi-truck-on-Open-Public-Roads-in-China/default.aspx">became the first company</a> to successfully operate a fully autonomous semi-truck on China&rsquo;s open road. With a strong presence in both China and the United States, the company is well-positioned to secure a piece of a <a href="https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2024/02/06/2824047/28124/en/Global-Autonomous-Trucks-Market-Outlook-Report-2024-Enhancing-Road-Safety-and-Meeting-the-Rising-Demand-for-Logistics-from-the-Boom-of-in-e-Commerce-Amid-a-Driver-Shortage.html">fast-growing</a> market.

Earlier this week, the <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/05/what-is-chubb-7-things-to-know-about-the-warren-buffett-mystery-stock/">deadline for regulatory disclosures</a> sparked much intrigue regarding certain institutional investors. Among them was technology juggernaut Nvidia (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/nvda-stock-quote/">NVDA</a>). Curiously, the company abandoned its stake in TuSimple (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsph-stock-quote/">TSPH</a>), an enterprise that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate autonomous driving for semi-trucks. Previously, TSPH stock soared when Nvidia earlier disclosed owning a small position.



For the fourth quarter&rsquo;s <a href="https://whalewisdom.com/filer/nvidia-corp">13F disclosure</a> filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nvidia revealed that it owned around 3.47 million shares of TSPH stock. The market value of these shares amounted to $3.04 million or 87.7 cents per share. However, the estimated average buying price stood at approximately $1.12. per share. At the time, the position represented 1.32% of the semiconductor giant&rsquo;s portfolio.



However, for the latest Q1 disclosure, Nvidia publicized that it sold its entire position. From a money management perspective, the move made sense. On a year-to-date basis, TSPH stock is down nearly 62%. Over the past 52 weeks, it shed almost 76%. Thus, Nvidia may have wanted to avoid sending good money into bad.



<h2>Nvidia Dumping TSPH Stock Clashes with Prior Sentiment</h2>



While arguably sensible, the move by Nvidia is jarring. Back in mid-February of this year, the tech firm&rsquo;s 13F disclosure for Q4 revealed the aforementioned position in TSPH stock. The publication of that stake sent TuSimple soaring as <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/02/15/nvidia-holdings-disclosure-pumps-up-shares-of-small-ai-companies.html#:~:text=Nvidia%20invested%20in%20TuSimple%20in,in%20public%20equity%2C%20or%20PIPE.">investors clamored for anything related to AI</a>, especially businesses involved with Nvidia.



Further, Nvidia <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2017/08/16/nvidia-invests-in-chinese-autonomous-trucking-startup-tusimple/">invested in TSPH stock in 2017</a>, four years before TuSimple&rsquo;s initial public offering. Likely, this information bolstered investor sentiment, even though TSPH has turned wildly volatile since late 2021.



In early 2022, TuSimple generated headlines when it revealed a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/technology/self-driving-truck-company-tusimple-use-nvidia-chips-autonomous-computing-2022-01-04/">partnership</a> with Nvidia. The deal involved using the chipmaker&rsquo;s semiconductors to design and build an autonomous driving system for self-driving trucks.



Unfortunately for speculators, the once-promising relationship appears to be ending. Early this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. Department of Commerce <a href="https://www.wsj.com/tech/tusimple-china-company-chip-shipment-investigation-13e362be">stopped a shipment</a> of 24 Nvidia chips bound for one of TuSimple&rsquo;s subsidiaries in Australia.



Although advanced U.S. chips can be sent to Australia, the Biden administration&rsquo;s policies prohibit transfers of such products to China. Federal investigations previously targeted TuSimple amid concerns that it was transferring technology to China.



<h2>Why It Matters</h2>



Since its public market debut, TSPH stock has lost more than 99%, per data from Google Finance. It&rsquo;s one of the worst implosions of market value. In April 2021, Reuters noted that TuSimple <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN2C21A6/">raised over $1 billion in its initial public offering</a> (IPO). At the time, the deal valued the company at nearly $8.5 billion.
