Benzinga Bulls And Bears: Datadog, Centene, Lucid — And US Makes Surprise Trade Deal With Vietnam

Shares of managed care provider Centene Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CNC#NYSE">CNC</a>) dropped over 40% on Wednesday, marking the worst single-day performance in the company's history.

What Happened: On CNBC&#8217;s Mad Money, Jim Cramer referred to the collapse as &#8220;a huge hit,&#8221; resulting from a combination of factors such as weak Affordable Care Act enrollments, an actuarial report pointing to sicker patients, and the company&#8217;s decision to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/guidance/25/07/46209736/centene-withdraws-2025-guidance-shares-dive">pull its 2025 outlook</a>.

The findings showed that overall marketplace enrollment growth was lower than expected and that those who did enroll were in poorer health than projected, a combination that significantly affects the company's bottom line, thus prompting the company to pull its guidance.
As a result, the company now expects a $1.8 billion reduction in its projected risk adjustment revenue from the federal government. This drop is expected to slash its 2025 earnings by $2.75 per share.
&#8220;This is horrifying,&#8221; Cramer said, referring to the sharp revision in Centene&#8217;s EPS, from $7.25 per share projected earlier. &#8220;We&#8217;re talking about a 35% to 40% hit to their numbers,&#8221; Cramer says, &#8220;no wonder the stock was eviscerated.&#8221;

Why It's Important: The top 10 list for the first six months of 2025 looked similar to the month of June, with eight of the companies the same.
UnitedHealth Group, which has appeared in only one top 20 over the past three months, ranked sixth thanks to the strong interest in the ticker at the start of the year.
Super Micro Computer similarly ranked eighth for the first half of 2025 despite only a ninth place rank in April and not being in the top 20 in May or June. The stock was particularly popular during the first three months of the year.
If the top 10 holds steady for the rest of the year, the top three stocks would match the 2024 year, but in a different order. In 2024, it was Nvidia ranked first, followed by Tesla and the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust. The three stocks now rank in opposite order through the first six months of the year.
Outside of the top 10 there weren't many huge surprises with themes such as cryptocurrency, AI and quantum computing being strong in the first six months of 2025.
Apple ended the first half of the year ranked 12th, despite previously ranking in the top 10 in several months to start the year. Other Mag 7 stocks such as Amazon and Meta also ranked in the 11 to 20. Alphabet ranked just outside of the top 20 for the first half of the year at 22nd place. Nowhere to be found in the top 25 was Microsoft, a member of the Mag 7 and the second most valuable company in the world.

In an unusual twist, Congress members like Texas Rep. Michael McCaul and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene have been <a href="https://www.capitoltrades.com/issuers/435467?page=1">buying UNH shares</a> worth thousands — even after the earnings crash.
Meanwhile, returning CEO Stephen Hemsley <a href="https://www.capitoltrades.com/issuers/435467?page=1">pumped in</a> $25 million, and other executives also invested heavily. The RSI (relative strength index) at 47.06 is neutral, leaving room for upside.
Valuation metrics—with P/E at~13.7, PEG ~0.87, EV/EBITDA ~9.4—seem to paint the picture of a deeply discounted insurer.
Is UNH's fall a value opportunity &#8211; or a warning? With politicians and insiders buying, there&#8217;s a strong signal that the dip might be nearing its end.
