Risk appetite remained robust in the final trading session of the week, with all major U.S. indices poised to close the week in positive territory. Small-cap stocks outperformed their large-cap counterparts, continuing their <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/small-cap">recent streak of dominance</a>.
Fresh business surveys highlighted a notable health in the U.S. economy, with private sector activity recording its strongest expansion in over two and a half years. The services sector, in particular, showed remarkable growth, maintaining its rapid pace of expansion.
The Russell 2000, a benchmark for small-cap equities, surged 1.7% on Friday, building on a 1.5% gain from the previous session. The S&amp;P 500 edged higher, heading for a five-day winning streak, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed past the 44,000 mark, moving tantalizingly close to record highs. Technology stocks posted more modest gains.
The U.S. Dollar Index, tracked via the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), extended its rally for an eighth consecutive week—the longest streak in 14 months—surpassing the 107 level to hit a two-year high. The dollar's strength was fueled by a mix of robust U.S. economic data <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s/24/11/42138717/dollar-hits-2-year-highs-as-europes-recession-signals-spark-euro-pound-sell-offs">and economic malaise in Europe.</a>
In commodities, gold climbed for a fifth straight session, advancing 5.6% for the week, its best weekly performance since March 2023.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) also maintained its bullish momentum, soaring past $99,000 and edging closer to the highly anticipated $100,000 milestone.

Small Caps Rally, Gold Poised For Best Week Since March 2023, Bitcoin Tops $99,000: What's Driving Markets Friday?

The U.S. private sector activity posted its fastest pace of expansion in more than two and a half years in November, driven by exceptional growth in the services sector, which continues to far exceed even the most <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s">optimistic forecasts by economists.</a>
Business sentiment indicators in both the services and manufacturing sectors, as measured by S&amp;P Global&#8217;s Purchasing Managers&#8217; Index (PMI), improved in November. The services sector recorded its strongest growth since March 2022, while manufacturing saw a slower pace of contraction.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">US November S&amp;P Global&#8217;s PMI Report: Key Highlights</h3>
<ul>
<li>The Flash Composite PMI rose from 54.1 in October to 55.3 in November, marking the strongest growth since April 2022. </li>
<li>The Flash Services PMI also soared from 55 to 57, surpassing estimates of 57.2 as tracked by TradingEconomics. </li>
<li>The Flash Manufacturing PMI inched up from 48.5 to 48.8, matching expectations. </li>
<li>Companies&#8217; outlook for the year ahead rose to their highest levels since May 2022, fueled by optimism over potential interest rate cuts, stronger economic growth, and more favorable business policies anticipated by the new administration in 2025.</li>
<li>Employment declined for the fourth consecutive month, while output price inflation eased to its lowest level since June 2020.</li>
<li>While growth remained concentrated in the services sector, increased optimism and renewed hiring in manufacturing signaled the potential for a broader recovery in the months ahead.</li>
</ul>
&#8220;The rise in the headline flash PMI indicates that economic growth is accelerating in the fourth quarter, while at the same time inflationary pressures are cooling,&#8221; said Chris Williamson, chief business economist at S&amp;P Global Market Intelligence.
According to Williamson, the survey&#8217;s price index for goods and services suggests that consumer inflation is running significantly below the Federal Reserve&#8217;s 2% target.
Williamson also highlighted the increasing optimism for next-year output from goods-producing businesses. &#8220;The promise of greater protectionism and tariffs has helped lift confidence in the U.S. good producing sector, which is already feeding through to higher factory employment,&#8221; he said.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Market reactions: Stocks rise, dollar holds at 2-year highs</h3>
A new round of strong economic data fueled a rally in U.S. stocks, particularly among those most sensitive to domestic economic momentum.
Small-cap stocks, tracked by the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IWM#NYSE">IWM</a>), rallied 1.2% on Friday, aiming for their fifth consecutive session of gains.
Blue-chip stocks also posted solid performances, with the Dow Jones, represented by the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIA#NYSE">DIA</a>), climbing 0.5% and surpassing the 44,000 mark.
The U.S. dollar index (DXY), tracked via the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), held steady with a 0.6% gain after touching fresh two-year highs<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s/24/11/42138717/dollar-hits-2-year-highs-as-europes-recession-signals-spark-euro-pound-sell-offs"> earlier in the session.</a>
Meanwhile, Treasury yields remained flat, and gold advanced 1.1%, also targeting its fifth straight session of gains.

US Business Activity Soars To 31-Month Highs In November: Small Caps Rally, Dow Tops 44,000

The U.S. dollar surged to its highest level in over two years against a basket of currencies on Friday, extending its rally to an eighth consecutive week — the longest winning <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/forex">streak in 14 months. </a>
A wave of weaker-than-expected business activity data from Europe has weighed heavily on the euro and the British pound, as investors brace for faster rate cuts by the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of England (BoE).
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Eurozone PMI Dives Into Contraction</h3>
In November, private-sector activity in the eurozone unexpectedly contracted, triggering fresh concerns about the region&#8217;s economic outlook. 
The Composite Purchasing Managers&#8217; Index (PMI), compiled by S&amp;P Global, fell to 48.1, well below the neutral 50 threshold and missing forecasts for an unchanged reading. This marks the first contraction in eurozone business activity since January.
The downturn was driven by a drop in new orders, higher input prices, and escalating political uncertainty. 
Chris Williamson, chief business economist at S&amp;P Global, commented: &#8220;The flash PMI survey data for November showed the eurozone economy falling back into contraction, as malaise spread from the struggling manufacturing sector to the larger services economy.&#8221;
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">UK Economy Also Contracts</h3>
Across the Channel, the UK also delivered a disappointing PMI reading. The Composite PMI fell to 49.9, a drop from the previous month's 51.8, and below market expectations of 51.7. 
This marks the first contraction in UK private-sector activity since October 2023. 
&#8220;The November PMI is indicative of the economy slipping into a modest decline, with GDP dropping at a 0.1% quarterly rate, but the loss of confidence hints at worse to come &#8211; including further job losses -unless sentiment revives,&#8221; Williamson said.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Dollar Index Climbs as Euro, Pound Tumble</h3>
The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY), a key measure of the greenback's performance which is closely tracked by the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), climbed above 107 — a level last seen on Nov. 18, 2022. 
The euro plunged to 1.04 against the dollar, its lowest level in two years. The pound fell to 1.25, on track for its eighth straight weekly loss — the longest losing streak since 1980.
On Friday, S&amp;P Global will release flash PMI data for the U.S. economy at 9.45 a.m. ET. Economists predict the Services PMI to edge higher from 55 to 55.2 in November, which would mark the strongest expansion since August.
Manufacturing momentum is also expected to improve from 48.5 to 48.8, albeit remaining in contractionary territory. 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Analysts: Euro Vulnerable Amid Weak Data And Geopolitical Risks</h3>
Forex analysts point to several catalysts for the euro's sharp decline. 
&#8220;The worsening of the Ukrainian crisis has opened up a phase of risk aversion, hitting the EUR and GBP,&#8221; said Luca Cigognini, a forex strategist at Intesa Sanpaolo.
Chris Turner, an analyst at ING Group, highlighted the technical significance of the euro's drop: &#8220;Today's release of softer-than-expected eurozone PMIs proved the catalyst for EUR/USD to break to the downside of its two-year trading range. Even though a near 7% drop in just two months is exceptionally rapid by historical standards, we remain confident in a lower EUR/USD trajectory. Support is limited, with the next key level around 1.0190/1.0200.&#8221;
BBVA analyst Alejandro Cuadrado echoed similar concerns, pointing out that additional downside pressure on the euro could arise from political instability in Germany, the outcome of the U.S. elections, and intensifying geopolitical risks. 
&#8220;The tense situation in Europe could worsen in the short term, and investors are clearly taking a cautious approach on the EUR,&#8221; he said.
Cuadrado's colleague, Michalis Onisiforou, shed light on Germany's economic struggles: &#8220;The collapse of Germany's coalition government and early elections mean there won't be any immediate fiscal response to alleviate the pessimism surrounding the domestic economy. Coupled with escalating risks in the Russo-Ukrainian war, Germany faces significant headwinds.&#8221;

Dollar Hits 2-Year High As European Recession Fears Hammer Euro, Pound

On Thursday, November 21, U.S. markets closed higher, with the Dow climbing 461 points, the S&amp;P 500 adding 32 points, and the Nasdaq edging up by 6 points. Salesforce led the Dow with solid gains, while Nvidia advanced on strong earnings despite tempered growth projections. Alphabet faced a sharp decline following antitrust pressures from the Justice Department.
According to economic data, U.S. existing home sales rose by 3.5% in October to an annualized 3.96 million. The Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index dropped to -5.5 in November, missing market expectations of 8. Initial jobless claims fell by 6,000 to 213,000 for the week ending November 16.
Most S&amp;P 500 sectors rose Thursday, led by utilities, financials, and consumer staples, while consumer discretionary and communication services lagged.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.06% and closed at 43,870.35, the S&amp;P 500 gained 0.53% to 5,948.70, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.03% to finish at 18,972.42.

Asia And Europe Markets Mixed; Fed's Hawkish Comments Boost Dollar - Global Markets Today While US Slept

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's unexpectedly hawkish remarks on Thursday sent markets into a tailspin. Major U.S. equity indices closed in the red, and the dollar soared for <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/interest-rates">a fifth consecutive session</a>.
In a speech to Dallas business leaders, Powell highlighted the remarkable strength of the U.S. economy, indicating that there's no need for the Fed to &#8220;be in a hurry to lower rates.&#8221;
He reiterated the central bank's commitment to reaching its 2% inflation target, stressing the need for careful decision-making as inflation remains above desired levels.
He highlighted productivity gains, which he said have &#8220;grown faster over the past five years than at any point in the two decades preceding the pandemic,&#8221; positioning the U.S. economy as &#8220;the best-performing among major economies.&#8221;
Addressing the October <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/11/41971830/producer-inflation-rises-more-than-expected-in-october-should-traders-rethink-interest-rate-cut-path">producer price index (PPI) uptick</a>, Powell labeled it &#8220;more than an upward bump&#8221; but maintained confidence in the trajectory toward the 2% inflation goal.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Markets Reassess Interest Rate Path: Traders Are Less Confident On A December Cut</h3>
Powell&#8217;s comments impacted the interest-rate market, with fed futures now reflecting a reduced likelihood of a 25-basis-point cut in December. 
The CME FedWatch tool shows the odds of such a move dropped to 58%, sharply down from around 80% earlier in the day.
The S&amp;P 500, tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), closed down 0.6%, fully erasing gains from last week&#8217;s rate cut. Energy was the only sector in positive territory, rising 0.4%, while industrials and health care led declines, each down 0.7%.
Top performers in the S&amp;P 500 included Tapestry Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TPR#NYSE">TPR</a>), Wynn Resorts Ltd. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WYNN#NASDAQ">WYNN</a>), and First Solar Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FSLR#NASDAQ">FSLR</a>), which rose 12.8%, 8.7%, and 7.2%, respectively. Among the laggards were Leidos Holdings Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LDOS#NYSE">LDOS</a>) and Super Micro Computer Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SMCI#NASDAQ">SMCI</a>), down 13.6% and 11.4%, respectively.
Tech stocks, as tracked by the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), declined 0.7%, marking a fourth consecutive loss. Blue chips followed by the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIA#NYSE">DIA</a>) slipped 0.5%, while small caps in the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IWM#NYSE">IWM</a>) underperformed, falling 1.3%.
The dollar continued to attract liquidity, with the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>) logging a fifth consecutive gain, reaching levels last seen in late October 2023.
Treasury yields also rose, with the 10-year yield closing at 4.46%. Gold, tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), marked its fifth straight loss.
In crypto markets, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) was 1.7% lower in the past 24 hours to $88,013 at 5:21 p.m. ET, on track for its worst day in November.

Powell's Hawkish Remarks Shake Markets: Stocks Fall, Dollar Rockets, Bitcoin Dips

Producer inflation in October came slightly higher than anticipated Thursday, casting doubts on whether the U.S. economy's broader disinflationary trend will hold through <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/inflation">the year&#8217;s final quarter.</a>
Compared to October 2023, the Producer Price Index (PPI) surged to 2.4% last month, up from upwardly revised 1.9% and surpassing projections of 2.3% as tracked by TradingEconomics data. It marks the first increase in the annual PPI inflation rate after three straight months of declines. 
On a monthly basis, the PPI for final demand increased by 0.2%, accelerating the previous 0.1% reading and matching economic estimates of 0.2%. 
When excluding energy and food items, core PPI was up by 0.3% from a month earlier, accelerating from the previous 0.2% but matching estimates. On an annual basis, core PPI surged from 2.8% to 3.1%, topping expectations of 3%, marking the third straight month of gains. 
&#8220;Over one-third of the rise in the index for final demand services can be traced to prices for portfolio management, which advanced 3.6%,&#8221; the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. 
On Wednesday, consumer inflation data also showed an increase in October, matching expectations. 
Prior to Thursday&#8217;s PPI report, traders assigned a 79% of chance on a 25-basis-point rate cut in December.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Jobless Claims Below Expectations</h3>
Concurrently, unemployment claims rose by 217,000 in the week ending Nov. 9, down from the previous 221,000 and below estimates of 223,000.
Continuing claims fell to 1.873 million, down from 1.892 million and below the predicted 1.88 million.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Market Reactions</h3>
Interest rate futures showed no major reactions following Thursday&#8217;s data releases, with speculators assigning a 77% chance of a 0.25% cut in December, as per CME FedWatch Tool. 
The higher-than-expected PPI report pushed Treasury yields slightly higher, with the 10-year yield reaching 4.48%.

Producer Inflation Rises More Than Expected In October: Should Traders Rethink Interest Rate Cut Path?

On Wednesday, November 13th, U.S. markets ended mixed. The Dow and S&amp;P 500 edged higher while the Nasdaq dipped. October CPI data met expectations, supporting bets on a December Fed rate cut. Core CPI rose 0.3%. Consumer discretionary stocks gained, driven by optimism over potential rate cuts.
According to economic data, the annual U.S. inflation rate increased to 2.6% in October, up from 2.4% in September, matching market expectations. The consumer price index (CPI) climbed 0.2% on a monthly basis in October.
Consumer discretionary, energy and real estate led S&amp;P 500 gains Wednesday, while tech and communication services stocks declined.

Dollar Hits One-Year High; China Falls, Gold Hits Two-Month Low - Global Markets Today While US Slept

The U.S. dollar surged past 155.60 yen on Wednesday, hitting levels unseen <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/us-dollar">in nearly four months</a>.
What Happened: Investors piled back into yen-dollar carry trades. The speculation is that the incoming Trump administration will aggressively hike tariffs on imports.
Economists expect the planned tariffs to reshape currency markets and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/inflation">stoke U.S. inflationary pressures.</a>
The greenback&#8217;s strength against the yen in six of the past seven weeks reverses early August losses tied to weak U.S. jobs data. Bank of Japan interventions also triggered an abrupt unwind of yen-dollar carry trade positions.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Inflation Data As Expected, Dollar Momentum Unshaken</h3>
On Wednesday, the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/11/41938762/october-inflation-rate-rises-to-2-6-as-expected-december-interest-rate-cut-remains-uncertain">U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) report</a> showed inflation accelerating to 2.6% year-over-year in October 2024, meeting economists&#8217; expectations. Core CPI inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, stood at 3.3% for the third straight month, also aligning with forecasts.
This in-line inflation data helped quell concerns that the Federal Reserve might consider an interest-rate pause in December. Instead, speculators are now heavily betting on a 25-basis-point rate cut. Market-implied probabilities are rising to over 80%, as per CME FedWatch.
Yet, even an in-line CPI report fueling rate-cut bets wasn't enough to hold back the dollar's momentum.
The Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), a trade-weighted gauge tracking the dollar, soared to its highest point in over a year as investors continued to flock to the greenback.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tariff Speculation Drives Greenback Surge</h3>
Much of the dollar's recent strength can be attributed to Trump's proposed tariffs. During his campaign, Trump floated the idea of tariffs as high as 60% on Chinese goods. Additional hikes of 10% to 20% on imports from other countries are also expected.
Tariffs could curb U.S. demand for foreign goods, reducing the need for American companies to buy foreign currencies—a shift that would likely boost the dollar.
Additionally, tariffs might <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/24/10/41545408/tariffs-are-inflationary-imf-deputy-chief-rejects-trumps-trade-policies-as-elections-loom">drive up domestic inflation</a>. That could prompt the Fed to rethink its dovish stance on rate cuts, adding even more fuel to the dollar&#8217;s rally.
George Vessey, a forex strategist at Convera, said, "Trump's policies of a trade war in which the U.S. is less exposed and more-fiscally stimulative policies are expected to boost U.S. near-term economic outperformance vs. its G10 peers further. Economic momentum has shifted back in favor of the U.S.&#8221;
As global investors recalibrate to the new political environment, expectations for the U.S. dollar have jumped.
In the Bank of America Fund Manager Survey conducted before the election, 31% of respondents expected the dollar to be a top performer in 2025, slightly behind the yen at 32%. 
After the election, the dollar shot up to the top spot, with 45% of respondents naming it as their favored currency for 2025, while the yen fell to 20%.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/asia/24/11/41722178/if-trump-and-republicans-sweep-dollar-may-climb-7-but-harris-win-could-bring-5-drop-says-jpmorgan">JPMorgan's pre-election analysis</a> suggested that a "Republican sweep" scenario — a GOP majority in the House and Senate — would lead to substantial dollar gains. In this scenario, the trade-weighted dollar index is projected to gain 7.3%, with some of the biggest moves expected against the Swedish krona (SEK) at +10.8% and the euro (EUR) at +8.4%.

David Morrison, senior market analyst at Trade Nation, highlighted the role of rising U.S. bond yields in supporting the dollar. "The jump in U.S. bond yields has been a major factor in the dollar's resurgence, as investors bet that the Trump presidency will, thanks to promises of tax cuts and deregulation, lead to increased economic growth. This should continue to surpass anything remotely achievable by the sclerotic economies across Europe and the UK," he said.
The prospect of new U.S. tariffs has European leaders on edge. French President Emmanuel Macron highlighted on Wednesday escalating risks for global supply chains if the U.S., Europe and China re-enter a trade war. 
American tariffs are likely to hit European exports of machinery and pharmaceuticals hard, creating potential economic headwinds for an already weak European economies.

Bitcoin again captured headlines as it surged past $93,000, lifting its market capitalization to $1.8 trillion and fueling a wave of enthusiasm across crypto markets, with Dogecoin up over 12%.
The Consumer Price Index met expectations in October, with the annual headline rate increasing to 2.6% and the core <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/11/41938762/october-inflation-rate-rises-to-2-6-as-expected-december-interest-rate-cut-remains-uncertain">rate steady at 3.3%. </a>
The report alleviated concerns over a potential rate pause in December, driving market odds for a 25-basis-point cut from 58% to 82%, as per the CME FedWatch tool. Treasury yields eased slightly in response to the report.
By midday in New York, all major U.S. equity indices were in slightly positive territory, although with the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 underperforming. Leading sectors included consumer discretionary and real estate, while utilities and health care lagged.
In political developments, U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-SD) was elected as the new majority leader in a secret ballot.

Asia Mixed And Europe Up, Dollar Gains To 3-Month High - Global Markets Today While US Slept

On Thursday, November 8th, U.S. markets ended mixed after the Federal Reserve cut interest rates by 25 basis points, citing an eased job market and progress toward the 2% inflation target. Optimism over President-elect Donald Trump&#8217;s return lifted the S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq to record highs, with global markets rallying in response.
Financials led declines among S&amp;P sectors, reversing strong gains from the previous session as bank stocks fell sharply.
The Federal Reserve cut rates by 0.25 points to a 4.5%-4.75% range, slowing the pace of easing from September&#8217;s 0.5% cut.
In economic data, U.S. initial jobless claims rose to 221,000 in late October, while Q3 nonfarm productivity increased by 2.2% and unit labor costs grew by 1.9%. Wholesale inventories fell 0.2% in September, and natural gas stocks climbed by 69 billion cubic feet to 3.932 trillion.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat and closed at 43,729.34, the S&amp;P 500 rose 0.74% to 5,973.10, and the Nasdaq Composite soared 1.51% to finish at 19,269.46.

On Wednesday, November 6th, U.S. markets closed at record highs as Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election. Investors anticipated lower taxes, deregulation, and Trump&#8217;s active stance on economic matters. The Dow, S&amp;P 500, and Nasdaq surged, while bitcoin also reached new highs.
Tesla shares surged, fueled by CEO Elon Musk&#8217;s endorsement of Trump, alongside gains in Trump Media &amp; Technology Group. Treasury yields rose amid expectations that higher tariffs could drive up inflation and expand the U.S. deficit.
According to economic data, U.S. mortgage applications dropped 10.8% last week, while crude oil inventories rose by 2.149 million barrels, exceeding the forecast of 1.8 million.
Most S&amp;P 500 sectors closed higher, led by consumer discretionary, industrials, and financials, while consumer staples and real estate lagged.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 3,57% to close at 43,729.93, the S&amp;P 500 rose 2.53% to 5,929.04, and the Nasdaq Composite soared 2.95% to finish at 18,983.47.
