Why It&#8217;s Important:&nbsp;Nvidia was the top searched stock on Benzinga Pro for the month of September once again. The stock has ranked first or second for every month tracked since February, sometimes alternating with SPY or Tesla.
The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust ranked second for a second straight month, which comes as the S&amp;P 500 tracking index hit new all-time highs in the month of September.
Tesla, which topped the month of July, has ranked third for two straight weeks. The stock has ranked among the top four stocks searched in each month tracked in 2024.
The bigger story in September were the newcomers and the stocks that dropped off.
Newcomers to the top 10 included Wheeler Real Estate, Galmed, Intel and Intuitive. Of the four stocks, only Intuitive had ranked in the top 20 over the last three months. The newcomers all had catalysts in the last month that made their stocks highly volatile.
On the 11th through 20th portion of the list, the stocks were all different from the previous month with Intuitive moving to the top 10 and Palantir going from 7th to 12th and the other stocks all new to the top 20.
Several of the companies ranked in the bottom part of the top 20 are penny stocks trading at less than $5 per share that saw wide moves that saw increased interest from Benzinga traders.
One of the bigger names to make the top 20, by name recognition, is Trump Media &amp; Technology Group, the company that counts former President Donald Trump as a co-founder. The stock has been highly volatile during the 2024 election cycle.
Dropping out of the top 10 were Lumen Technologies (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LUMN#NYSE">LUMN</a>), Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>), Geovax Labs (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOVX#NASDAQ">GOVX</a>) and the aforementioned Palantir.
Other big names that exited the top 20 include Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) that was 13th in August and fell to 24th to narrowly miss the list.
Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>), which has frequently appeared in the top 20 and was ranked 15th in August dropped out of the top 20.
Overall the month of September saw six of the same top 10 tickers from August and eight of the top 20 tickers from August.

Shares of Granite Point Mortgage Trust Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GPMT#NYSE">GPMT</a>) rose sharply in today's pre-market trading after the company announced a third-quarter common and p<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/GPMT/news">referred stock dividends</a>.
After the market close on Friday, Granite Point Mortgage Trust declared a quarterly cash dividend of 5 cents per share of common stock for the third quarter of 2024. The company's board also declared a quarterly cash dividend of 43.75 cents per share of the 7.00% Series A Fixed-to-Floating Rate Cumulative Redeemable Preferred Stock.
Granite Point Mortgage Trust shares gained 3.2% to $2.93 in the pre-market trading.

Annual inflation rate in the Eurozone fell to 2.2% in August, recording the lowest level since July 2021, compared to 2.6% in the prior month. Construction output in the Eurozone fell by 2.2% year-over-year in July compared to a revised 1.3% decline in the previous month.
Annual inflation rate in the UK came in unchanged at 2.2% in August, in line with estimates, while producer prices increased 0.2% year-over-year in August.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mostly higher on Wednesday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining 0.49%, China's Shanghai Composite Index gaining 0.49% and India's BSE Sensex falling 0.16%.
Japanese trade deficit shrank to JPY 695.30 billion in August from JPY 940.10 billion in the year-earlier month, and versus market expectations of a JPY 1,380 billion gap.

U.S. stocks traded lower midway through trading, with the S&amp;P 500 falling around 0.2% on Wednesday.
The Dow traded down 0.21% to 41,520.08 while the NASDAQ fell 0.25% to 17,584.86. The S&amp;P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.21% to 5,622.88.

Annual inflation rate in the UK came in unchanged at 2.2% in August, in line with estimates, while producer prices increased 0.2% year-over-year in August.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mostly higher on Wednesday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining 0.49%, China's Shanghai Composite Index gaining 0.49% and India's BSE Sensex falling 0.16%.

Charter Amendments for One-for-Three Reverse Stock Split

On September 17, 2024, in connection with a one-for-three reverse stock split (the "Reverse Stock Split") of the common stock, $0.01 par value per share (the "Common Stock") of Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust, Inc. (the "Company"), to be effective on September 19, 2024, the Company filed two Articles of Amendment to its charter with the State Department of Assessments and Taxation of Maryland that provide for:

i.a one-for-three Reverse Stock Split of the Common Stock, to be effective at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time (the&nbsp;"Effective Time") on September 19, 2024 (the "First Amendment"); and
ii.the par value of the Common Stock to be decreased from $0.03 per share (as a result of the one-for-three Reverse Stock Split) to $0.01 per share, to be effective at 5:01 p.m. Eastern Time on September 19, 2024 (the "Second Amendment").

Pursuant to the First Amendment, no fractional shares will be issued in connection with the Reverse Stock Split; rather, stockholders who would have otherwise been issued a fractional share of the Common Stock as a result of the Reverse Stock Split will instead receive a cash payment in lieu of such fractional share in an amount equal to the applicable fraction multiplied by the closing price of the Company's Common Stock on The Nasdaq Capital Market on September 19, 2024 (as adjusted for the Reverse Stock Split), without any interest.

Effect of Reverse Stock Split on Common Stock
 &nbsp;
At the market open on September 20, 2024 (the first business day after the Effective Time), the Common Stock will begin trading on a split-adjusted basis on The Nasdaq Capital Market under a new CUSIP number (963025853).
 &nbsp;
The Reverse Stock Split will apply to all of the outstanding shares of Common Stock as of the Effective Time, with a corresponding adjustment to the outstanding partnership units of the Company's operating partnership, Wheeler REIT, L.P. It therefore will not affect any particular stockholder's relative ownership percentage of shares of Common Stock, except for de minimis changes resulting from the payment of cash in lieu of fractional shares. The Reverse Stock Split will also not affect the relative voting or other rights that accompany the shares of Common Stock, except to the extent that it results from a stockholder receiving cash in lieu of fractional shares. There will be no change to the number of authorized shares of the Common Stock as a result of the Reverse Stock Split. The Company's trading symbol will remain unchanged, but the CUSIP number for the Company's registered Common Stock will be changed to 963025853.

In connection with the Reverse Stock Split, adjustments will be made to the number of shares of Common Stock issuable upon conversion of the Company's convertible securities.

Effect of Reverse Stock Split on 7.00% Subordinated Convertible Notes Due 2031

As a result of the Reverse Stock Split, pursuant to and in accordance with Section 14.05(c) of that certain indenture, dated as of August 13, 2021, between the Company and Wilmington Savings Fund Society, FSB as trustee, pertaining to the Company's 7.00% subordinated convertible notes due 2031 (the "Notes"), the conversion rate of the Notes will be proportionately reduced from 31.58 shares of Common Stock per each $25.00 principal amount of the Notes to 10.53 shares of Common Stock per each $25.00 principal amount of the Notes.

Effect of Reverse Stock Split on Preferred Stock

As a result of the Reverse Stock Split, the conversion price of the Company's Series B Convertible Preferred Stock will proportionally increase from $48,000 per share of Common Stock to $144,000 per share of Common Stock, and one (1) share of Series B Convertible Preferred Stock will be convertible into 0.000174 shares of Common Stock.

As a result of the Reverse Stock Split, the conversion price of the Company's Series D Cumulative Convertible Preferred Stock will proportionally increase from $20,352 per share of Common Stock to $61,056 per share of Common Stock, and one (1) share of Series D Cumulative Convertible Preferred Stock will be convertible into 0.000409 shares of Common Stock.

Effect of Reverse Stock Split on Incentive Plans

As a result of the Reverse Stock Split, (i) the number of shares of Common Stock authorized for issuance under the Company's 2015 Long-Term Incentive Plan and the 2016 Long-Term Incentive Plan, (ii) any maximum number of shares of Common Stock with respect to which equity awards may be granted to any participant under any such plan, (iii) each equity award outstanding thereunder on the effective date of the Reverse Stock Split, and (iv) any performance metric related to the price per share of Common Stock applicable to any award outstanding on the effective date of the Reverse Stock Split, will, in each case, be adjusted proportionately to reflect the Reverse Stock Split.

China&#8217;s annual inflation rate accelerated to 0.6% in August from 0.5% in the prior month, while producer prices fell by 1.8% year-over-year in August.

The updated vaccine is included in the recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). 
The vaccine is the only protein-based option available in the U.S. for people aged 12 and older for the prevention of COVID-19. The company could also be drawing interest from investors ahead of two company presentations next week. Novavax will present at H.C. Wainwright and Baird investor conferences on Monday, Sept. 9 and Tuesday, Sept. 10, respectively.

Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WHLR#NASDAQ">WHLR</a>): Shares of the real estate investment trust surged over 500% on the week after the company <a href="https://ir.whlr.us/news-events/press-releases/detail/1088/cedar-realty-trust-and-wheeler-real-estate-investment-trust-announce-fourth-circuit-court-affirms-dismissal-of-class-action-lawsuit">announced </a>a circuit court affirmed the dismissal of a class action lawsuit involving holders of Cedar Realty preferred stock. Wheeler acquired Cedar in August 2022 and the lawsuit alleged a breach of contract related to Cedar's former board of directors.
"With this matter behind us, both companies remain well-positioned to execute on their strategic plans," Cedar and Wheeler CEO Andrew Franklin said.
The company owns 77 grocery-anchored shopping centers in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast covering 14 states. With the lawsuit behind the company, investors could see a positive long-term outlook.

Equinix Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EQIX#NASDAQ">EQIX</a>): The data center company saw strong interest from investors on the week with shares up minimally. The company <a href="https://investor.equinix.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/1051/equinix-issues-more-than-750-million-in-green-bonds-to">announced </a>it issued $750 million in green bonds across two completed offerings. The green bonds are being used to help with sustainability initiatives for the company.
"Green bonds serve as a valuable means to secure funding and support significant initiatives that enhance the sustainability of our operations," Equinix SVP Corporate Finance and Sustainability Katrina Rymill said. "Over the last five years, our green bonds have funded 172 green building projects across 105 sites, 33 energy efficient projects and two Power Purchase Agreement projects."
The new green bonds could help the company continue to invest in new efforts to help support the company's 86 consecutive quarters of top-line revenue growth, which the company said is the longest streak of any S&amp;P 500 company.

Tenon Medical Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TNON#NASDAQ">TNON</a>): Investor interest in the medical device company grew during the week thanks to two <a href="https://ir.tenonmed.com/">items</a>. The company announced a 1:8 reverse stock split on Sept. 4 that took effect on Sept. 6. Reverse stock splits often draw attention from retail investors as they reduce the float and shares outstanding of a company. 
Tenon also announced a peer-reviewed publication of its Catamaran SI Joint Fusion System. The peer review showed evidence of fusion at the 12-month mark post-procedure, the company said.
