Dave Ramsey advocates a two-pronged approach to tackling the nation's $36 trillion debt: cutting excessive government spending and boosting revenue by lowering taxes to stimulate the economy.
What Happened: Responding to a caller&#8217;s question on tackling the national debt on an episode of &#8216;The Ramsey Show,&#8217; Ramsey says, "It is kind of fun to watch them take a machete to the ridiculous spending," Ramsey observes that even though running a government of any size is &#8220;a different endeavor&#8221; to personal finance, he remarks that "the principle of being debt free still stands." 
Drawing from personal finance's "get an extra job" strategy, he applies it at the federal level. "If you want to get out of debt, one of the things we tell you to do is get an extra job, right?&#8230; Let's increase the income of the United States of America by increasing the revenues produced by the tax system by, oddly enough, lowering the tax rates."

Ramsey refers to the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/education/19/06/13936762/supply-side-economist-arthur-laffer-to-receive-the-presidential-medal-of-freedom">Laffer curve</a>, saying, "Art Laffer has&#8230; the theory of.. as to a certain degree as you lower taxes&#8230; the economy heats up&#8230; because the people that are making money are putting money back into their businesses.. they make yet more money and they pay yet more taxes even though the rate is lower." He also critiques <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/25/02/43839198/reduce-deficits-and-debt-full-stop-says-this-economist-as-trump-mulls-doge-dividend-by-giving-away-20-of-its-savings-to-public">Keynesian economics</a>, remarking, "I'm not a believer&#8230; I'm a free market guy."
On the spending side, Ramsey supports Elon Musk-led <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/department-of-government-efficiency">DOGE&#8217;s</a> aggressive cost-cutting measures: "Cut the snot out of the expenses. So if you could ever get it right side up&#8230; then could you start to pay off the debt? Absolutely, you could."
He also talks about the detrimental impact of government borrowing: "When the government runs debt it sucks the bone marrow out of the economy." Yet he remains optimistic that halting this practice would ignite growth: "The thing could really heat up and the revenues could go through the roof."
Ultimately, Ramsey likens this approach to the radical shift individuals undergo when they decide to eliminate their own debt. "You're going to go do radical stuff to get your life back and get out of debt."

Dave Ramsey Says Putting A Lid On Government Spending Could Spur Quick Recovery, But Wants America To Get An Extra Job

TSMC ((TWSE: 2330, NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) today announced its net revenue for March 2025: On a consolidated basis, revenue for March 2025 was approximately NT$285.96 billion, an increase of 10.0 percent from February 2025 and an increase of 46.5 percent from March 2024. Revenue for January through March 2025 totaled NT$839.25 billion, an increase of 41.6 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

Warren Buffett, legendary stock picker and one of the world&#8217;s wealthiest individuals, has refused to include Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) in his portfolio, with an aversion so strong that even shorting the asset is a strict no-no.
Interestingly, the &#8220;Oracle of Omaha,&#8221; like a few other detractors, does not view the underlying blockchain technology with the same disdain.
What happened: During an interview with CNBC in February 2019, Buffett dissed Bitcoin, deeming it a "delusion" and an asset that lacks unique value.
Notably, amid the Bitcoin bashing, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO referred to blockchain as &#8220;important.&#8221;
Buffett went on to say that people &#8220;smarter&#8221; than him explained to him that blockchain does not depend on Bitcoin. He cited the example of a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/20/10/18086908/jpmorgan-says-its-cryptocurrency-jpm-coin-is-now-live">dollar-backed stablecoin</a>, JPM Coin, launched by JPMorgan Chase, potentially implying that blockchains could be used to create non-speculative and valuable assets.

This softer stance was similar to that of JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon, who, while holding a negative view about Bitcoin, has time and again <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/42940832/jamie-dimon-says-hes-not-against-blockchains-but-trades-guns-on-bitcoin-again-it-has-no-intrinsic-value-i-just-dont-feel-great-about">recognized the importance of blockchain technology</a>.
It&#8217;s worth noting that since this interview, Buffett hasn&#8217;t said much about blockchains, so a thorough understanding of his views is still needed.

Why It Matters: Buffett earned notoriety in cryptocurrency circles when he described Bitcoin as <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/10/41319774/if-you-invested-1-000-in-bitcoin-when-warren-buffett-called-it-rat-poison-squared-heres-ho">&#8220;probably rat poison squared&#8221;</a> during an interview in 2018.
Months before, at Berkshire Hathaway&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/24/03/37513063/warren-buffett-says-he-wouldnt-pay-25-for-all-the-bitcoin-in-the-world-he-considers-crypto-rat-poiso">annual shareholder meeting</a> in 2018, he predicted cryptocurrency would have a &#8220;bad ending&#8221; and said that his company wouldn't even short them.
"If I could buy a five-year put on every one of the cryptocurrencies, I'd be glad to do it, but I would never short a dime's worth."

Warren Buffett Called Bitcoin A 'Delusion' And Jamie Dimon Isn't A Fan Either, But They Don't Mind The Technology That Lies Beneath

Morgan Stanley (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MS#NYSE">MS</a>) will release earnings results for the first quarter, before the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/MS/earnings">opening bell on Friday, April 11</a>.

Morgan Stanley Gears Up For Q1 Print; Here Are The Recent Forecast Changes From Wall Street's Most Accurate Analysts

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed easing in the overall fear level, while the index remained in the &#8220;Extreme Fear&#8221; zone on Wednesday.
U.S. stocks settled sharply higher on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones index jumping more than 2,900 points during the session.
The S&amp;P 500 also jumped 9.52% to record its biggest single-day surge since 2008 as investors cheered a surprise announcement from President Donald Trump: a 90-day pause on tariffs for countries that have not retaliated against U.S. trade measures.
However, Trump&#8217;s latest Truth Social post slammed China for showing "a lack of respect" and declared an immediate 125% tariff hike on Chinese goods.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) shares jumped over 15%, while Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) surged around 19% on Wednesday. Shares of Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) also jumped more than 22% during the session.
On the economic data front, U.S. mortgage application volumes climbed by 20% from the previous week during the first week of April.
All sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a positive note, with consumer discretionary, information technology, and communication services stocks recording the biggest gains on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones closed higher by around 2,963 points to 40,608.45 on Wednesday. The S&amp;P 500 jumped 9.52% to 5,456.90, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 12.16% to 17,124.97 during Wednesday's session.
Investors are awaiting earnings results from CarMax Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KMX#NYSE">KMX</a>), The Lovesac Co. Hedge fund manager Ray Dalio praised President Donald Trump&#8216;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/25/04/44721874/trumps-tariff-pause-saves-market-from-edge-of-the-cliff-dan-ives-says-biggest-wild-card-still-remains">decision to press pause</a> on the tariffs imposed on several of the country&#8217;s trading partners on Wednesday, with the exception of China.
What Happened: In a post on X, the billionaire founder of Bridgewater Associates said &#8220;Trump&#8217;s decision to step back from a worse way and negotiate how to deal with these imbalances is a much better way,&#8221; before urging the President to conclude the trade deal with China and focus on reducing the fiscal deficit to 3% of GDP.
Dalio suggested a deal with China that involves &#8220;appreciating the RMB [Renminbi] against the [U.S.] dollar&#8221; which can be achieved by the &#8220;Chinese selling dollar assets while also easing their fiscal and monetary policies to stimulate their demand.&#8221;

Why It Matters: According to Reuters, policymakers in the country were planning to further undervalue the Yuan in December to reduce the impact of tariffs. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent addressed this issue early this week, saying, &#8220;If China tries to devalue their way out of this, then that&#8217;s a tax on the rest of the world.&#8221;

ASE Technology Reported March 2025 Revenue Of $1.64B, Up 13.1% YoY; Q1 Revenue Of $4.52B, Up 6.5% YoY

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has called for a disclosure by Congress members after observing that the Nasdaq call volume spiked minutes before President Donald Trump&#8216;s announcement on a tariff pause.
What Happened: Trump announced a pause in the tariffs in a Truth Social post around 1:18 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
However, the data shared by Spencer Hakimian, the founder of Tolou Capital Management and Unusual Whales, a popular social media commentator and online suite for data feeds and tools on options flows, showed that call volumes for various contracts started spiking around 1:00 p.m. ET.
AOC, in an X post, said that &#8220;Any member of Congress who purchased stocks in the last 48 hours should probably disclose that now.&#8221;
While the disclosure deadline is May 15, AOC added that &#8220;We're about to learn a few things. It's time to ban insider trading in Congress.&#8221;

On the other hand, Unusual Whales highlighted that SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) 509 calls expiring on Wednesday, April 9, surged 2100% in one hour.
Meanwhile, Invesco QQQ Trust, Series 1 (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) 406 calls expiring on April 17, also surged. &#8220;Insane, someone knew,&#8221; said Unusual Whales in its X post.

Price Action: SPY rose by 10.50% on Wednesday, whereas QQQ advanced 12.00%.
Nasdaq 100 rose to exit the bear territory and was down 13.85% from its previous record of 22,222.61 points. The S&amp;P 500 was still in the correction zone, down 11.23% from its last high of 6,147.43 points. Whereas Dow Jones was 9.91% lower than its 52-week high of 45,073.63 points.
On Thursday, the futures of Dow were down by 0.22%, and the futures of S&amp;P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 index were 0.56% and 1.03% lower, respectively.
