Minnesota&#8217;s journey toward a recreational cannabis market hit a roadblock Monday when a local judge delayed the state's first lottery for cannabis business licenses.
The decision follows lawsuits filed by applicants who claim they were unfairly excluded from the process, <a href="https://www.startribune.com/minnesotas-first-lottery-for-cannabis-business-licenses-delayed-amid-litigation/601186596">reported</a> The Minnesota Star Tribune. 
Judge Stephen Smith ordered the state's Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) to postpone the Tuesday lottery for social equity applicants. The delay aims to provide the Court of Appeals time to address legal challenges raised by the rejected applicants.
The lottery is set to grant 282 social equity applicants pre-approval for cannabis business licenses. This move may impact the timeline for launching Minnesota's retail cannabis market.

Out of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/08/40518244/minnesota-prepares-for-historic-social-equity-lottery-with-1-817-applications-for-280-cannabis-l">1,817 applicants</a>, 1,169 were denied entry into the lottery. The OCM cited failures to meet qualifying standards or submit proper documentation as reasons for rejection. However, rejected applicants argue the process lacked transparency and clarity.
Attorney Courtney Ernston, representing one of the plaintiffs, criticized the vague nature of rejection notices. "Simply saying the word ‘fail' is not a reason," Ernston said, adding that her client received no detailed explanation for her exclusion. Applicants and their legal representatives contend that the lack of transparency undermines their ability to contest or correct the rejections.

A major legal battle looms for Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) as the company prepares for an April trial, announced Monday, to face allegations from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over its acquisitions of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/meta">Instagram and WhatsApp.</a>
The FTC claims Meta strategically acquired the platforms in 2012 and 2014 to suppress competition in the social media space, accusations the company strongly denies, Reuters reports.
What Happened: The trial, set for April 14, comes after Judge James Boasberg rejected Meta's bid to dismiss the case. The FTC argues that Meta's actions have maintained its dominance in the social networking market at the expense of innovation and consumer choice. 
The lawsuit suggests that without the acquisitions, Instagram and WhatsApp could have evolved into independent competitors capable of challenging Meta's position.

The judge also noted Meta's arguments regarding competition from platforms like TikTok and YouTube warrant examination during the proceedings.

What Happened: The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, known for its extravagant performances and cartoon character floats, is getting pricier. 
Since 1953, the peacock-branded network has aired the iconic turkey-day tradition. And, according to <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/media/nbc-ready-to-pay-triple-to-gobble-up-thanksgiving-parade-broadcast-rights-e18fd95f?mod=hp_lead_pos5">The Wall Street Journal</a>, NBC is considering a $60-million agreement — triple the current $20 million rate — to secure those rights through the next decade.

Marquee moments like parades, football games, boxing matches and awards shows are now popping up streaming services.
For NBC, the bet is that Peacock streaming customers will tune into the Nov. 28 crowd-pleaser, which is expected to feature celebrity appearances and live Broadway performances. 
Walt Disney Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIS#NYSE">DIS</a>) can relate. The Burbank, California-based conglomerate shelled out a 20% premium to swipe the Grammy Awards from Paramount Global (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PARA#NASDAQ">PARA</a>)(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PARAA#NASDAQ">PARAA</a>), which had been airing it on CBS.
Why It Matters: The value of a live audience is as buoyant as a giant Snoopy balloon.
Nearly 30 million viewers tuned in to watch last year's parade, and this Thursday morning promises another spectacle of at least 11 marching bands, 28 clown crews, 22 balloons and 33 floats.
As for performers, viewers can expect a lineup of famous faces, including Charli D'Amelio, original &#8220;Wicked&#8221; star Idina Menzel, &#8220;Tonight Show&#8221; host Jimmy Fallon with The Roots, Coco Jones, Liza Colón-Zayas, The Temptations, T-Pain and the New York Liberty.

For those in New York City eager to preview the parade prep, the balloon inflation event happens Wednesday, Nov. 27, on the Upper West Side — a chance to get up close and personal with the towering inflatable icons.

Eastman Kodak Co. What To Know: In a new regulatory filing, Kodak said the Kodak Retirement Income Plan Trust entered into a purchase and sale agreement with Mastercard Foundation in which Mastercard will purchase certain private equity ownership interests and other illiquid assets. 
Kodak will sell the illiquid assets with a value of $764.4 million for a purchase price of $550.6 million in cash. Additional buyers will acquire $87.3 million in assets.
According to <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/kodak-prepares-to-terminate-u-s-pension-book-gain-of-more-than-500-million-d0cfb621?mod=lead_feature_below_a_pos3">The Wall Street Journal</a>, Kodak&#8217;s pension plan is overfunded, with $3.5 billion in assets and $2.3 billion in liabilities. The termination process will involve selling illiquid assets, settling liabilities and replacing the plan with a new retirement program. 
The termination is expected to result in a cash gain of $530 million to $585 million after taxes. Kodak plans to use these proceeds to reduce its $460 million in long-term debt, which includes a 12.5% term loan. Under its credit agreement, the company must reduce its debt balance to $200 million with proceeds of this size.
This move is aimed at improving Kodak's financial health, reducing interest expenses and investing in core business areas like pharmaceutical chemicals. The process is expected to take over a year and plan participants will retain the full value of their benefits through annuities or lump-sum payouts.
Kodak closed its latest quarter with $214 million in cash after reporting a quarterly profit of $18 million.

Kodak Stock Is Trading At 52-Week Highs: What's Going On?

Tim Draper, a prominent venture capitalist and cryptocurrency enthusiast, has made Bitcoin price predictions since 2014.
That year, Draper predicted Bitcoin to be $10,000 by the end of 2017. Despite skepticism, his forecast proved accurate, as Bitcoin hit $10,000 in November 2017 during its dramatic bull run.
In 2018, Draper forecast Bitcoin to reach $250,000 by the end of 2022. This bold prediction was not fully realized, though Bitcoin did reach an all-time high of approximately $69,000 in November 2021.
When Bitcoin failed to hit the target price in 2018, Draper extended the timeline to mid-2023. The futurist and investor based this target price on mass adoption, particularly by women and retail investors.
Draper said in an interview with Benzinga: "My first prediction was in 2014 when Bitcoin was at $180. I said that it would be $10,000 in three years. Sure enough, by the end of 2017, Bitcoin hit $10,000. Since then, I have not been as prescient. I thought Bitcoin would hit $250,000 by 2022! I think I am going to be three years off.&#8221; Draper added: &#8220;I think we can chalk those three years up to a weak government that regulated rather than encouraged new technologies. Our new government is more encouraging."
Since the U.S. presidential election in November, the crypto world has been celebrating with a decidedly more bullish outlook. Though many tokens have seen significant gains, including Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) and Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>), Bitcoin has taken center stage, reaching a record high of $99,000 on Nov. 21, the second all-time high of the month.
Benzinga asked Draper what his prediction was for Bitcoin with the end of 2024 rapidly approaching and he responded: "This is just the beginning! If you are asking about price prediction, I would say about Bitcoin will reach about $120,000 by end of year."
Benzinga asked Draper what drives his future forecasts for Bitcoin, he pointed to the superiority of the cryptocurrency over traditional fiat and long-term trends in usage.
"It is a long-term trend. Bitcoin is just better technology than using banks and governments as the trusted third party. It is transparent, global, open, keeps perfect records, etcetera. It will make the world wealthier. When retailers (for currency) and governments (for taxes) realize that Bitcoin will save them money on each transaction, then there will be a great incentive for everyone to use Bitcoin."
When asked for his prognostication for 2025, Draper said he is holding out for the $250,000 level and cited the proposed U.S. Bitcoin reserve as a contributing factor.
"Assuming a standard supply and demand curve, if there is a big buyer like that, the price will continue to rise. I think 2025 is the year Bitcoin will finally hit my mark of $250,000," Draper noted.

Michael Saylor, co-founder of MicroStrategy, <a href="https://x.com/saylor/status/1861033309934862601">tweeted today</a><a href="https://x.com/saylor/status/1861033309934862601" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> </a>that the company acquired $5.4 billion in Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), the single biggest purchase of the world's leading decentralized digital currency.
In the tweet, Saylor stated, "MicroStrategy has acquired 55,500 BTC for ~$5.4 billion at ~$97,862 per #bitcoin and has achieved BTC Yield of 35.2% QTD and 59.3% YTD. As of 11/24/2024, we hodl 386,700 $BTC acquired for ~$21.9 billion at ~$56,761 per bitcoin. $MSTR"
This is after the news that the company is making $500 million a day with its Bitcoin holdings, which Saylor said have appreciated by $5.4 billion over the past two weeks. Saylor predicted Bitcoin could reach $13 million by 2045, which would elevate its market cap to $250 trillion. 
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Optimism Among Web3 Leaders</h1>
Nathan Berkley, CEO of Muhdo Health Limited, a health technology company specializing in DNA and epigenetic testing which incorporates cryptocurrency into its operations, has a bullish outlook on Bitcoin and independently concurs with Draper's forecast.
"I think we could see Bitcoin hit $120,000. With U.S. sentiment being positive to this market now, and understanding Web3 can have real impact, it's a great time to be in the space," Berkley noted.
Lisa Loud, executive director of Secret Network Foundation, a blockchain platform designed to enable privacy-preserving decentralized applications, said: "The Bitcoin of today is not the Bitcoin of 2020: we have a broader finance interest, politics, and uncertain regulatory changes. A conservative estimate would say it will end in the range of $92,000-115,000, but if we get a large opt-in from mainstream, we could blow this estimate out of the water."
