<p>Risk appetite remained robust in the final trading session of the week, with all major U.S. indices poised to close the week in positive territory. Small-cap stocks outperformed their large-cap counterparts, continuing their <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/small-cap">recent streak of dominance</a>.</p>
<p>Fresh business surveys highlighted a notable health in the U.S. economy, with private sector activity recording its strongest expansion in over two and a half years. The services sector, in particular, showed remarkable growth, maintaining its rapid pace of expansion.</p>
<p>The Russell 2000, a benchmark for small-cap equities, surged 1.7% on Friday, building on a 1.5% gain from the previous session. The S&amp;P 500 edged higher, heading for a five-day winning streak, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed past the 44,000 mark, moving tantalizingly close to record highs. Technology stocks posted more modest gains.</p>
<p>The U.S. Dollar Index, tracked via the <strong>Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), extended its rally for an eighth consecutive week—the longest streak in 14 months—surpassing the 107 level to hit a two-year high. <p>Signs of a waning Trump-led rally emerged Thursday as investors assessed the economic outlook and awaited potential signals on the interest-rate path from the upcoming Fed Chair <strong>Jerome Powell</strong>&#8216;s speech in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/jerome-powell">Dallas at 3 p.m. ET. </a></p>
<p>Inflation data from the past two days provided mixed signals: consumer prices met expectations, while producer prices slightly exceeded forecasts, with both indicators showing a year-over-year uptick in October.</p>
<p>Despite this inflation data, markets remain confident the Fed will continue easing, pricing in an 80% likelihood of a December rate cut.</p>
<p>Wall Street&#8217;s major indices were in the red by midday, with the S&amp;P 500 down 0.3% and small-cap stocks lagging behind large-caps.</p>
<p>The U.S. dollar index ticked up 0.1%, even as Treasury yields declined. Bonds outperformed equities, with the <strong>iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF</strong> (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) climbing 1.2%.</p>

<p>Wall Street saw a modest rebound on Wednesday, spurred by an in-line inflation report that reinforced expectations for a December rate cut. The U.S. dollar continued to gain strength, buoyed by potential tariff tailwinds under <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/donald-trump">the new Trump administration.</a></p>
<p><strong>Bitcoin</strong> again captured headlines as it surged past $93,000, lifting its market capitalization to $1.8 trillion and fueling a wave of enthusiasm across crypto markets, with <strong>Dogecoin</strong> up over 12%.</p>
<p>The Consumer Price Index met expectations in October, with the annual headline rate increasing to 2.6% and the core <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/11/41938762/october-inflation-rate-rises-to-2-6-as-expected-december-interest-rate-cut-remains-uncertain">rate steady at 3.3%. </a></p>
<p>The report alleviated concerns over a potential rate pause in December, driving market odds for a 25-basis-point cut from 58% to 82%, as per the CME FedWatch tool. Treasury yields eased slightly in response to the report.</p>
<p>By midday in New York, all major U.S. equity indices were in slightly positive territory, although with the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 underperforming. Leading sectors included consumer discretionary and real estate, while utilities and health care lagged.</p>

<p>An &#8220;everything rally&#8221; powered Wall Street on Wednesday after the 2024 election results, with <strong>Donald Trump</strong> emerging as the clear presidential winner. The Republican Party reclaimed control of the Senate, while the House of Representatives leans Republican <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/11/41778433/s-p-500-dow-hit-record-highs-after-trump-win-fear-index-drops-20">but remains undecided.</a></p>
<p>The major U.S. equity indices – the S&amp;P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Nasdaq 100 – surged to record highs in early trading, as investor optimism grew on expectations of more favorable tax policies. </p>
<p>The S&amp;P 500, Nasdaq, and Dow posted gains of 2.3%, 2.4%, and 3.3%, respectively.</p>
<p>However, the real standouts were small caps and bank stocks, with investors turning to domestic businesses and U.S. banks in anticipation of potential tariff protections and further financial deregulation. </p>
<p>The Russell 2000 jumped 5.5%, marking its largest single-day increase in two years. </p>
<p>Large-cap bank stocks climbed 6%, while regional banks tracked by the <strong>SPDR S&amp;P Regional Banking ETF</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KRE#NYSE">KRE</a>) soared 13%—both seeing their biggest one-day gains since November 2020, when the first COVID-19 vaccine was announced.</p>
<p>Clean energy stocks were among the day's worst performers, with the <strong>Invesco Solar ETF</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TAN#NYSE">TAN</a>) plunging 11% for its steepest drop since March 2020, as investors braced for potential rollbacks on green initiatives under the Trump administration.</p>
<p>In the foreign exchange market, the U.S. dollar initially rallied nearly 2% before paring gains to 1.4% as traders awaited a Federal Reserve interest rate cut on Thursday.</p>
<p>Treasury yields spiked as expectations rose for larger budget deficits under Republican fiscal policies and higher inflation due to potential tariffs. The 10-year Treasury yield climbed 14 basis points to 4.41%, reaching a four-month high.</p>
<p>Gold prices fell 2.8%, silver dropped over 4%, while natural gas rose 3.8%. Oil prices remained steady.</p>
