BJ's Wholesale Club

BJ's Wholesale serves as one of the few warehouse club chains in the United States. Its more than 240 warehouses are primarily located along the East Coast, most prominently in the New England area. Similar to its warehouse club peers, BJ's charges annual membership fees and keeps costs down by operating a no-frills store environment. The company limits the use of distribution centers where possible and stores inventory on pallets directly on the sales floor, often in bulk quantities. The company also offers a limited assortment of stock-keeping units at its warehouses (around 7,000) to achieve greater procurement scale on select items. About 80% of BJ's net sales come from grocery items and general merchandise, with the remaining 20% coming from gasoline and other ancillary services.

This Ulta Beauty Analyst Is No Longer Bullish; Here Are Top 5 Downgrades For Thursday

TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TJX#NYSE">TJX</a>) reported better-than-expected earnings for its third <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tjx-companies-q3-earnings-revenue-140011671.html">quarter on Wednesday</a>.
The company reported third-quarter earnings per share of $1.14 (+11%), beating the street view of $1.09. Quarterly sales of $14.06 billion (+6%) beat the analyst consensus estimate of $13.95 billion.
TJX Companies reported a 3% increase in consolidated comparable store sales at the high end of the company's plan, driven entirely by higher customer transactions.
"I want to specifically highlight our European team for their strong results, which drove the 7% comp increase at our TJX International division," said Ernie Herrman, Chief Executive Officer and President of The TJX Companies.
TJX Companies expects fourth-quarter GAAP EPS to be between $1.12 and $1.14, below the consensus estimate of $1.17. For the fourth quarter, the company continues to expect consolidated comparable store sales to be up 2% to 3%.
For FY25, the company revised its GAAP EPS forecast to $4.15 – $4.17, slightly above the prior guidance of $4.09 – $4.13 and in line with the consensus of $4.16. For the full year fiscal 2025, the company continues to expect consolidated comparable store sales to be up 3%
TJX shares fell 0.5% to trade at $119.20 on Thursday.

Nvidia's Post-Earnings Jitters: Can NVDA Stock Regain Its AI-Fueled Momentum?

Donald J. Trump's social media company is considering developing a cryptocurrency payment service, according to a trademark application filed this week, the latest sign of the president-elect's embrace of the crypto industry.
Trump Media &amp; Technology Group <a href="https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98859006&amp;caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&amp;caseType=DEFAULT&amp;searchType=statusSearch">filed an application on Monday</a> for a service called TruthFi, which it described as a platform for crypto payments, financial custody services and trading in digital assets.
The application was light on details about how the project would work or how close it was to fruition. But the initiative appears to be a bid by Trump Media to diversify its business beyond Truth Social, a social media platform whose business relies on Mr. Trump to continuously post messages to his most loyal supporters.
Any large-scale crypto project would likely require Trump Media to acquire another firm, given that it has fewer than three dozen employees. This week, shares in the crypto trading platform Bakkt surged, after the Financial Times <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/d7f921d5-3668-4b6b-a98d-2681ad73610f">reported</a> that Trump Media was in talks to buy it.
&nbsp;
Trump Media did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Bakkt, which is losing money, <a href="https://investors.bakkt.com/news/news-details/2024/Bakkt-Statement-on-Transaction-Rumors/default.aspx">put out a statement</a> on Tuesday saying it does not comment on market speculation or rumors.
Josh Gerben, a Washington D.C.-based trademark lawyer, said that the filing is a way for Trump Media to reserve the TruthFi name if it goes forward with a crypto business. He said that companies can usually reserve a name for as long as a few years. But companies typically file a trademark application with the intent to use it.
"In my experience, most of the time if a client is going to file an application, there is something going on," Mr. Gerben said.
Trump Media is currently valued at around $6.5 billion, despite taking in just over <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/06/business/trump-media-stock-price.html">$1 million in revenue</a> in the third quarter — all of it from advertising on Truth Social. With Truth Social struggling to gain new users and advertising despite Mr. Trump's popularity, Trump Media needs new businesses to bolster its revenue.
Mr. Trump has no formal role in the company that bears his name, but he owns nearly 53 percent of Trump Media's stock, and that stake — valued at $3.4 billion — is his most valuable asset. His eldest son, Donald Jr., is a member of Trump Media's board, which is stocked with loyalists to the president-elect.

The company posted quarterly earnings of 34 cents per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 30 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $196.36 million which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $191.39 million.
&#8220;We concluded the first stage of our North Star Strategy in fiscal 2024 achieving both strong results and momentum,&#8221; said Jerome Grant, CEO of Universal Technical Institute, Inc. &#8220;We met or exceeded guidance across all key metrics with full year revenue and adjusted EBITDA increasing over 21% and 60% year-over-year, respectively. These results reflect our consistent execution on the growth, diversification, and optimization tenets of our strategic plan as we continue ramping newly launched programs across both divisions, while further improving margins through workforce and facilities optimization.
Universal Technical Institute said it sees FY25 earnings of 93 cents to $1.01 per share on revenue of $800 million to $815 million.
