A semiconductor rally pushed the S&amp;P 500 to new all-time highs on Thursday, with strong earnings from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) boosting tech sentiment after a weak report from ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/technicals/24/10/41383732/stock-of-the-day-taiwan-semiconductor-breaks-out-as-buyers-push-prices-higher">earlier in the week.</a>
The iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SOXX#NASDAQ">SOXX</a>) jumped 2.3%, leading sector gains. NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) hit fresh record highs, reaching $141 per share during the morning session.
The Nasdaq 100 outperformed major indices, while small caps underperformed as the Russell 2000 faced resistance at a key technical level. The Dow briefly touched a record high of 43,289 points before pulling back slightly.
On the macro front, September retail sales exceeded expectations, and jobless claims fell last week, reinforcing views of strong economic resilience. However, this also slightly hit hopes for Fed rate cuts as economists voiced doubts about the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/10/41386234/strong-september-retail-sales-put-feds-next-move-in-doubt-interest-rate-cuts-are-">need for further easing in November.</a>
The U.S. dollar strengthened, with the dollar index (DXY) climbing to levels last seen in early August. The euro fell 0.4% as the European Central Bank cut interest rates amid weak economic data and ongoing disinflation.
Gold prices, tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), rose 0.5%, setting new records despite rising Treasury yields. The 10-year Treasury yield gained 8 basis points to 4.10%, while the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) slid 1.6%, marking its worst session since early August.

Blackstone Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BX#NYSE">BX</a>) shares are trading higher after it reported&nbsp;third-quarter fiscal year segment revenues of&nbsp;$2.434 <a target="_blank" href="https://www.blackstone.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/10/Blackstone3Q24EarningsPressRelease.pdf" rel="noreferrer noopener">billion</a>, slightly beating the consensus of&nbsp;$2.408&nbsp;billion.&nbsp;
Distributable earnings (DE) rose&nbsp;6% year-over-year to&nbsp;$1.279 billion. Fee-related earnings increased 5% to&nbsp;$1.18 billion.
Fee-related earnings fell&nbsp;8% in the Real Estate&nbsp;while rising&nbsp;25% in the Credit &amp; Insurance business and&nbsp;9% in the Private Equity segments.
Net accrued performance revenue rose to&nbsp;$7.0 billion in the quarter from&nbsp;$6.44 billion in the prior year quarter.&nbsp;
Distributable earnings per share of&nbsp;$1.01&nbsp;(+7%&nbsp;Y/Y),&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">beating the consensus of&nbsp;$0.94</a>.
Asset under management rose&nbsp;10% Y/Y to&nbsp;$1.108 trillion, with inflows of&nbsp;$40.5 billion in the quarter.
Dividend: Blackstone declared a quarterly dividend per share of&nbsp;$0.86, payable on November 4, 2024, to shareholders of record as of October 28, 2024.
Buyback: The company repurchased 1.0 million shares in the&nbsp;third quarter. Blackstone has available authorization remaining of $1.9 billion as of September-end.
Blackstone CEO&nbsp;and Chairman Stephen A. Schwarzman&nbsp;said, &#8220;We invested or committed $54 billion in the quarter — the highest in over two years — and deployed $123 billion in the last twelve months since the cost of capital peaked.&#8221;

Traders and investors are watching&nbsp;Blackstone Inc&lsquo;s&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BX#NYSE">BX</a>) third-quarter earnings report, which was&nbsp;confirmed for <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/BX/earnings">Thursday&rsquo;s pre-market session.</a>
On the radar of investors, Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT) reported modest gains in September but remains well below the performance threshold needed to generate third-quarter fees, raising concerns from JPMorgan analysts in a recent note ahead of the company&rsquo;s upcoming earnings report.
What To Know: BREIT posted modest gains in September, reporting a performance of +13 basis points (bps), following a +11bps increase in August. This marked BREIT&rsquo;s second consecutive month of positive returns after a challenging July, which saw a decline of -19bps.
Despite these recent improvements, BREIT&#39;s year-to-date (YTD) performance for 2024 stands at +241bps, still well below the threshold required to trigger performance fees for the third quarter.
For Blackstone to collect performance fees from BREIT, the fund typically needs to meet an annual performance threshold of +5.0%, which is split evenly across the four quarters. However, this year, BREIT faced an even steeper hurdle, due to a negative carryover of 50bps from 2023 and overbookings from late 2022.

Per a recent note, analysts at JPMorgan had estimated that BREIT would need an exceptionally strong September performance of +204bps or more to secure performance fees for the third quarter. With September&rsquo;s actual performance falling significantly short of that target, it is now confirmed that BREIT will not achieve the necessary performance threshold for the third-quarter.
What Else: In light of this, JPMorgan has adjusted its projections for Blackstone&#39;s real estate segment&rsquo;s fee-related performance revenues (FRPR) for the third quarter, reducing the estimate from $25 million to $10 million. This downward revision reflects the challenges BREIT faces in meeting its required performance metrics.
Looking ahead, JPMorgan estimates that BREIT will need to deliver a robust +316bps performance over the next three months to trigger performance fees for the fourth quarter. Achieving this is seen as a significant challenge, given that BREIT has not recorded such a strong performance over a three-month period since 2022.
JPMorgan&rsquo;s analysts have already factored in this challenging outlook for the fourth-quarter, projecting $50 million in FRPR for Blackstone&rsquo;s real estate segment, which includes potential contributions from other permanent capital vehicles beyond BREIT.
Blackstone&#39;s real estate arm remains under pressure to deliver stronger performance, as its ability to generate performance fees plays a crucial role in its overall revenue, particularly in a challenging macroeconomic environment.
