That year, the Justice Department ordered the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/300-million-yacht-sanctioned-russian-oligarch-suleiman-kerimov-seized-fiji-request-united">seizure</a> of a superyacht that it alleged was owned by Kerimov and subject to forfeiture over probable cause of U.S. law violations, including money laundering and conspiracy.
Citi offers trust and wealth planning services to rich clients through its private bank, which is part of the wealth management division. The bank is in the process of <a href="https://www.barrons.com/articles/citigroup-sale-trust-unit-jtc-0bbf04e1?mod=article_inline">selling its trust unit</a> to JTC, a firm based on the English Channel island of Jersey that has expanded in the U.S. through acquisitions, for $80 million. Mastercard reported <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/10/41659697/mastercard-q3-earnings-revenue-and-eps-beat-cross-border-transactions-growth-sees-european-consumer" rel="noreferrer noopener">third-quarter net revenue</a> of $7.37 billion, a 13% increase from the previous year, surpassing the analyst estimate of $7.27 billion. Adjusted earnings per share climbed 15% year-over-year to $3.89, beating the expected $3.74 consensus.
Revenue from the payments network increased by 10% year-over-year (11% on a currency-neutral basis), driven by a 10% rise in gross dollar volume, a 17% growth in cross-border transactions, and an 11% boost in switched transactions. Mastercard anticipates net revenue growth in the low teens for the fourth quarter, above the $7.27 billion analyst forecast.
KeyBanc&#8217;s analyst Alex Markgraff examined credit and debit card volume data from recent <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41364634/citigroup-remains-a-compelling-investment-opportunity-analysts-take-on-q3-performance" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">third-quarter reports</a> by Bank of America Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BAC#NYSE">BAC</a>), Citigroup Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/C#NYSE">C</a>), JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>), and Wells Fargo &amp; Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WFC#NYSE">WFC</a>).
Overall, the combined credit card volume for these banks grew 5% year-over-year, down from 6% in the previous quarter. Debit card volume increased by 4% year-over-year, slightly below the 5% growth seen in the second quarter.
The banks reported slower growth in card spending but noted consumer resilience continues, with stabilized spending patterns. JPMorgan highlighted customers have mostly exhausted their &#8220;cash buffer,&#8221; while Bank of America observed consistent payment growth into October.
This modest decline contrasts with forecasts for Mastercard and Visa Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/V#NYSE">V</a>), for which analysts expected an uptick in card volumes. Despite this, Markgraff believes third-quarter revenue risk remains minimal.

The initiative introduces the Bank of Shanghai&#8217;s TourCard, a prepaid digital card that allows overseas visitors to make payments in Chinese yuan (CNY) with ease and efficiency, addressing common pain points in cross-border transactions.
The solution, powered by Citi&#8217;s USD Clearing service, enables travelers to fund their TourCard accounts from external sources, making it easier to access local currency in China. This development removes the barriers typically associated with international payments, such as credit card acceptance issues, high interchange fees, and foreign exchange (FX) charges.

Through Citi&#8217;s full-value transfer system, which leverages Swift Go, travelers can ensure that funds are transferred quickly, securely, and without deductions, offering full transparency on payment status, fees, and FX costs.
The TourCard service is integrated with popular digital wallet apps, allowing travelers to link their Bank of Shanghai CNY virtual account to their wallets for a seamless mobile payment experience.
Available for a 90-day period, the TourCard can be easily applied for online via the Bank of Shanghai or China-based wallet apps, the company said.
Dawid Janas, Head of Citi&#8217;s Global Clearing and Financial Institution Payments, emphasized that the partnership delivers an integrated solution, enabling travelers to focus on their experience without worrying about payment hassles.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward in enhancing global payment solutions for travelers in China.

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed further improvement in the overall market sentiment, while the index remained in the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Monday.
U.S. stocks settled higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones jumping more than 300 points to settle above the 44,000 level for the first time, extending gains following the election of Donald Trump as the 47th U.S. president.
Wall Street recorded gains last week, with the S&amp;P 500 surging 4.66% last week and the Dow gaining 4.61%. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, jumped 5.74% during the week.
Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) shares jumped around 9% on Monday, extending gains following the U.S. presidential election.
