Additionally, the spin-off will provide investors with two specialized, publicly traded companies, offering clear, pure-play investment opportunities tailored to their market interests.
Costamare plans to list Costamare Bulkers Holdings Limited on the New York Stock Exchange and aims to complete the spin-off this year, subject to regulatory and board approvals.
While the separation is not guaranteed, it is expected to occur through a pro rata distribution of Costamare Bulkers Holdings Limited shares to Costamare Inc. shareholders, with the distribution ratio determined upon final declaration.

Wall Street rose on Wednesday, with all major equity indices advancing as investors assessed the latest batch of corporate earnings and drew optimism from <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/02/43494246/private-employment-rises-by-183000-beats-estimates-in-january-consumer-facing-industries-drove-hiring">positive labor market data.</a>
The S&amp;P 500 gained 0.3% to 6,045 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6%, now trading less than 1% below its all-time high.
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) missed quarterly earnings expectations on its cloud business, triggering a 7% drop, its worst single-day decline in a year. On the upside, Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVGO#NASDAQ">AVGO</a>) surged 6% after beating estimates, fueling a rally in chip stocks. Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) also gained 3.4%.
The Russell 2000 outperformed with a 0.9% gain, reflecting strength in smaller-cap stocks.
Fresh labor market data signaled resilience. Private sector employment rose by 183,000 in January according to the ADP report, surpassing expectations of 150,000. The services sector continued expanding,<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/02/43499292/us-services-growth-slows-in-january-as-tariff-concerns-mount"> as per ISM survey</a>, though at a slightly slower-than-anticipated pace.
Investors piled into Treasuries, sending yields tumbling across the curve. The 30-year yield fell to its lowest level since Dec. 18, 2024, while the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) rallied 1.9%.
Gold extended its bull run, surging over 1% to a record $2,870 per ounce, driven by continued central bank buying. Copper jumped 2%. 
In crypto markets, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) edged down 1.2% to $97,000.

Recent <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/02/43420421/marco-rubios-panama-visit-will-trumps-aggressive-rhetoric-lead-to-war-or-diplomacy">statements</a> by President Donald Trump regarding potential changes in the status of the Panama Canal have raised concerns about possible impacts on various stocks and exchange-traded funds. After all, some 4% of global trade passes through the canal, with more than 70% of that traffic bound for or coming from the U.S., <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/americas/china-panama-canal-development-what-it-means-7c5dc870">according</a> to the Wall Street Journal.
What Happened: On Sunday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Panama&#8217;s President José Raúl Mulino that Washington will &#8220;take measures necessary&#8221; if Panama does not immediately take steps to put an end to what Trump&nbsp;considers China&#8217;s influence and control over the Panama Canal.
Following the talks with Rubio, who is on a tour of Central America, Mulino signaled he would review agreements involving China and Chinese businesses. Since Trump took office, he has reiterated his <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42639737/trumps-call-to-reclaim-panama-canal-sparks-backlash-every-square-meter-belongs-to-panama-says-president-mulino" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">threat to forcibly retake the Panama Canal</a>, which generates some $2.5 billion in annual revenue for Panama.
As a critical conduit for international maritime trade, any changes to its operations could naturally affect companies involved in shipping, logistics and transportation.

But even this ubiquitously used valuation multiple has a few limitations. 
Although P/E is by far the most popular equity valuation ratio, a more complicated metric called EV/EBITDA does a better job of valuing a firm. Often viewed as a better substitute to P/E, this ratio offers a clearer picture of a company&#39;s valuation and its earnings potential.

<h3>Is EV-to-EBITDA a Better Substitute to P/E?</h3>
EV-to-EBITDA is essentially the enterprise value of a stock divided by its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA). EV is the sum of a company&#39;s market capitalization, its debt and preferred stock minus cash and cash equivalents. 
EBITDA, the other component of the multiple, gives a better idea of a company&#39;s profitability as it removes the impact of non-cash expenses like depreciation and amortization that reduce net earnings. It is also often used as a proxy for cash flows. 
Just like P/E, the lower the EV-to-EBITDA ratio, the more attractive it is. A low EV-to-EBITDA ratio could signal that a stock is potentially undervalued. 
EV-to-EBITDA takes into account the debt on a company&#39;s balance sheet that the P/E ratio does not. Due to this reason, EV-to-EBITDA is generally used to value the potential acquisition targets as it shows the amount of debt the acquirer has to assume. Stocks boasting a low EV-to-EBITDA multiple could be seen as attractive takeover candidates. 
Another shortcoming of P/E is that it can&#39;t be used to value a loss-making firm. A company&#39;s earnings are also subject to accounting estimates and management manipulation. On the other hand, EV-to-EBITDA is difficult to manipulate and can also be used to value loss-making but EBITDA-positive companies. 
EV-to-EBITDA is also a useful tool in measuring the value of firms that are highly leveraged and have a high degree of depreciation. Moreover, it can be used to compare companies with different levels of debt. 
However, EV-to-EBITDA is not devoid of shortcomings and alone cannot conclusively determine a stock&#39;s inherent potential and future performance. The multiple varies across industries and is usually not appropriate while comparing stocks in different industries, given their diverse capital expenditure requirements. 
A strategy solely based on EV-to-EBITDA might not yield the desired results. However, you can club it with the other major ratios in your stock-investing toolbox, such as price-to-book (P/B), P/E and price-to-sales (P/S) to screen value stocks.
<h3>Screening Criteria</h3>

EV-to-EBITDA 12 Months-Most Recent less than X-Industry Median: A lower EV-to-EBITDA ratio represents a cheaper valuation.

New Strong Buy Stocks for June 11th

A worse-than-expected University of Michigan May consumer report halted stock gains on Friday, sparking worries about a potential decline in consumer health amid<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/05/38762249/consumer-sentiment-falls-in-may-inflation-expectations-strongly-exceed-feds-2-goal-they-now-perc"> perceived rising price pressures.</a>
The report disclosed that both near-term and long-term inflation expectations have surged beyond projections this month, causing the broader consumer gauge to hit its lowest levels in six months.
&#8220;If spending slows down and inflation increases, we'll get the opposite of the Goldilocks scenario that many were hoping for, and the Fed will be in an especially difficult position of choosing between accommodating a slowing economy and fighting increasing inflation expectations,&#8221; said Chris Zaccarelli, chief investment officer for Independent Advisor Alliance. 
Echoing this view, Jeffrey Roach, chief economist for LPL Financial, sees rising risks of stagflation, a concern that could unsettle markets. 
At 12:05 p.m. trading in New York, the S&amp;P 500 was 0.1% lower, but it was firmly up by 1.6% for the week, poised to secure a third consecutive week of gains after three of losses.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was a tad higher, battling to secure the eight straight session of gains, the longest positive streak since December 2023. Tech stocks were flat. Small caps were the underperformers, with the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IWM#NYSE">IWM</a>) down 0.9%. 
The rising inflation perceptions in the consumer survey rescued the dollar, which eyes a positive weekly close, after two negative ones. 
Treasury yields also inched higher by about 4 basis points across all maturities. The 10-year benchmark hit 4.5%.
Gold surged to $2,385/oz, with the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>) up 0.8%. 
The dismal consumer sentiment data sharply weighed on Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) with the largest cryptocurrency dropping over 4% from $63,000 to below $60,500 following the report.

The&nbsp;SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) was unchanged at $520.20, the&nbsp;SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIA#NYSE">DIA</a>) rose 0.2% to $394.65 and the tech-heavy&nbsp;Invesco QQQ Trust&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) was up 0.1% to $441.38, according to&nbsp;<a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro data</a>.&nbsp;
Sector-wise, the Financials Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLF#NYSE">XLF</a>) outperformed, up 0.5%. The Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLY#NYSE">XLY</a>) was the major laggard, down 0.6%.

<li>Novavax Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVAX#NASDAQ">NVAX</a>) surged by an astonishing 122%, after the company announced a Covid-19 vaccine licensing deal with Sanofi (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNY#NASDAQ">SNY</a>). The pharmaceutical company reported a lower than expected loss last quarter, but missed revenue estimates. </li>
<li>MacroGenics Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MGNX#NASDAQ">MGNX</a>) tumbled by 77% following an interim update on a mid-stage study of a cancer drug candidate, which reported the unfortunate deaths of several study participants. Furthermore, the results for the quarter fell short of expectations.</li>
<li>Charter Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CHTR#NASDAQ">CHTR</a>) rose 4.6% after the company started a tender offer to buy back senior secured notes due 2025 for up to $1.7 billion in cash.</li>
<li>Moderna Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MRNA#NASDAQ">MRNA</a>) dropped by 4% after the company announced that the FDA won&#8217;t finish its review of MRNA&#8217;s respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine by the scheduled action date of May 12 due to administrative constraints. The FDA has communicated that it anticipates completing the review by the end of May.</li>
