Bristow's comments emphasized the company's current mines and those in development, as the industry experiences a surge in merger and acquisition activity. The CEO also highlighted how the company is expanding its copper portfolio, which could be something exciting to watch for investors.

Galmed Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLMD#NASDAQ">GLMD</a>): The biopharmaceutical company <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/40941193/galmed-pharmaceuticals-stock-is-soaring-thursday-heres-why">saw shares soar </a>during the week after an announcement on drug development activities. Galmed plans to add drug developments that target cardiac fibrosis and colorectal and hepatic cancers. The company will release data from the studies during the fourth quarter.
"The conditions Galmed plans to focus upon in the coming years are major public health problems impacting millions of people worldwide and posing huge financial burden on health providers," Galmed CEO Allen Baharaff said.
Large interest in Galmed saw shares halted several times during the trading week. Helping with volatility in the biopharmaceutical company is the low-float of the stock with around 625,000 shares available according to Benzinga Pro. Low-float stocks can often see high volatility on company announcements.
The stock was up 160% over the last five days and up nearly 100% year-to-date in 2024.

ServiceNow Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NOW#NYSE">NOW</a>): The software company is seeing a large increase in interest from readers ahead of its third-quarter financial results. Analysts expect the company to report revenue of $2.74 billion, up from $2.29 billion in last year's third quarter.
The company has beaten analyst revenue estimates in six straight quarters. Analysts expect the company to report earnings per share of $3.46, up from $2.92 in last year's third quarter. ServiceNow has beaten earnings estimates from analysts in more than 20 straight quarters.
The company's earnings report will show investors and analysts whether revenue growth and AI platform demand are continuing to strengthen. The company saw subscription revenue up 23% year-over-year in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/07/39944577/servicenow-q2-earnings-revenue-beat-eps-beat-servicenow-intends-to-reinvent-every-workflow-in-every">the second quarter </a>and said it was helping meet demand from CEOs looking for new growth as ServiceNow reinvents "every workflow, in every company, in every industry with GenAI at the core."
ServiceNow shares are up 4% over the last five days and up 34% year-to-date.

Stryker Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SYK#NYSE">SYK</a>): The medical equipment company saw strong interest from readers during the week, which comes on the heels of acquisition announcements, new products <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SYK/analyst-ratings">and analyst notes</a>. 
The company recently unveiled new foot and ankle solutions that can help restore limb length. Stryker closed its acquisition of privately held care.ai, a company helping with AI-assisted virtual care workflows and smart room technology. The company said the acquisition will help accelerate its digital vision and could expand its healthcare IT business. 
On Friday, Stryker closed its acquisition of NICO Corporation, a company with a surgery method for tumor and intracerebral hemorrhage procedures. Stryker also announced an acquisition of pain management company Vertos Medical in August. Together, the acquisitions and new products could have investors excited about the company's future and its potential diversification efforts.
Piper Sandler recently maintained an Overweight rating and a $380 price target on the stock. Wolfe Research initiated coverage with an Outperform rating and a $405 price target.

The latest equity research report from Pablo Zuanic of Zuanic &amp; Associates highlights key trends in Canada's cannabis market, noting a deceleration in recreational sales growth.
Data from StatCan reveals that sales for 2Q24 were down 4% year-over-year (YoY), contributing to a 1.3% decline year-to-date (YTD) compared to 14% growth in 1H23. In contrast, Hifyre data shows a 6% YTD growth through August.
If annualized, this growth would project a total<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/canada-cannabis"> recreational market</a> size of C$5.47 billion for calendar year 2024, translating to US$102 per capita.

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/pablo-zuanic">Zuanic&#8217;s report </a>highlights notable shifts in market share among the top licensed producers (LPs). Tilray (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLRY#NASDAQ">TLRY</a>), once a dominant player, saw its share drop by 1.5 percentage points to 9.6% in August, continuing its decline over recent quarters. Similarly, Cronos (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CRON#NASDAQ">CRON</a>) and Organigram (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/OGI#NASDAQ">OGI</a>) posted gains, with Cronos maintaining a steady 5.3% share (up 24% YoY), and Organigram growing its market share to 7.2%, up from 6.6% a year ago, reflecting 15% (YoY) growth.
Additionally, Auxly (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CBWTF#OTC">CBWTF</a>) and Cannara Biotech (unlisted) gained 0.5 points each, reaching 5.2% and 3.4% market shares, respectively.

The Canadian cannabis market is shifting towards newer product formats, with some segments outperforming others. Flower remains the largest category, accounting for 36% of sales in June-August 2024, down from 41% in 1Q23 and 57% in 1Q21. This decline reflects changing consumer preferences, as <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39508155/900-pre-rolls-per-hour-upgrade-from-manual-to-automatic-speeds-up-joint-production-enhances-marg">pre-rolls</a> and vapes gain market share.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/23/09/34625368/nasa-precision-meets-cannabis-roi-pre-rolled-infusion-robots-revolutionizing-indust">Pre-rolls</a> now represent 34% of total sales, up from 27% in 1Q23 and 17% in 1Q21. The segment grew 11% year-over-year (YoY) in the June-August period, driven by consumer demand for convenience. Decibel leads with a 10.4% share, though it fell to 9.7% in August. Tilray holds 8.3%, and Organigram has 6.4%.

Other formats, like concentrates, edibles, beverages, and oils, hold smaller shares. Concentrates and edibles each represent 5%, while <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/cannabis-beverages">beverages </a>and oils account for 2% each. Concentrates grew 5% YoY, while edibles declined by 5%. Beverages saw a 6% YoY increase, indicating gradual consumer adoption.

Barclays Upgrades Deutsche Bank to Overweight

Deutsche Bank AG (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DB#NYSE">DB</a>) shares are trading higher today. The company <a href="https://www.db.com/news/detail/20240821-deutsche-bank-reaches-settlements-with-a-large-share-of-the-plaintiffs-in-postbank-takeover-litigation-matter-media-release?language_id=1">stated</a> that it has made substantial progress in its discussions with plaintiffs regarding the litigation over the Postbank takeover and the offer price paid to former Postbank shareholders.
On Thursday, the company reached agreements with over 80 plaintiffs, covering nearly 60% of the total claims.
The settlements are based on an offer of €31 per share, as proposed by the bank, and include a settlement with the largest individual plaintiff, who represents around one-third of all claims.
Elliott Investment Management is receiving nearly €200 million ($222 million) from Deutsche Bank to resolve the long-running legal dispute, Bloomberg <a href="https://news.bloomberglaw.com/mergers-and-acquisitions/elliott-gets-200-million-payday-from-deutsche-bank-settlement" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reported</a>, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The report mentioned that the activist hedge fund was the largest plaintiff in the litigation over the Postbank takeover.
Deutsche Bank expects the settlement agreements reached so far to utilize around 45% of the total provisions set aside for the claims covered by these agreements.
The remaining provisions related to these plaintiffs will be released, which will have a positive impact of about €430 million on the bank&#8217;s pre-tax profit in the third quarter.
If Deutsche Bank reaches settlement agreements with additional plaintiffs, it could lead to further positive impacts on the total provisions set aside for the litigation.
In July, the bank reported first-half <a target="_blank" href="https://www.db.com/news/detail/20240724-deutsche-bank-reports-on-the-second-quarter-of-2024?language_id=1" rel="noreferrer noopener">2024</a> net revenue growth of 2% to €15.4 billion, with profit before tax at €2.4 billion-€3.8 billion excluding the Postbank litigation provision compared to €3.3 billion in the first half of 2023.

What's Going On With Deutsche Bank Stock Friday?

Deutsche Bank (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/db#NYSE">DB</a>) has achieved notable progress in talks with claimants involved in the legal dispute regarding its takeover of Postbank and the compensation paid to former Postbank shareholders.&nbsp;
The bank has reached settlement agreements with more than 80 claimants, who collectively make up nearly 60% of all claims in this lawsuit. These agreements are settled upon the bank&#39;s suggested price of &euro;31 ($34.5) per share. Among the claimants who agreed to a settlement also represented about one-third of all claims.
In April 2024, Deutsche Bank said that it could face claims up to &euro;1.3 billion ($1.4 billion) in a legal battle with former Postbank shareholders about its 2010 takeover. The former Postbank shareholders argued that a higher price should have been offered.
Deutsche Bank anticipates that the settlement agreements reached so far will burn approximately 45% of the total provisions taken for the claims of plaintiffs covered by the agreements. The remaining provisions linked to these specific plaintiffs will be released. It is expected that this action will positively affect the bank&#39;s tax profit for the third quarter by nearly &euro;430 million ($478.6 million). If Deutsche Bank enters into settlement agreements with additional claimants, this could have a positive impact on the overall litigation provisions.
In sync with this news, on Apr 26, 2024, the Higher Regional Court of Cologne looked into claims from former Postbank shareholders. The court hinted that it might back some of these claims in a future decision. Deutsche Bank didn&#39;t agree with the court&#39;s view. Still, it noted that the court&#39;s comments could influence an estimation of future financial outflows. The provision of &euro;1.3 billion for litigation related to the Postbank takeover resulted in a loss in the second quarter of 2024.
Over the past six months, shares of DB have gained 17.1% on the NYSE compared with the industry&#39;s growth of 13.4%.

The recent litigation related to the acquisition of Postbank is likely to keep the expense fairly high. As a result, higher legal expenses are expected to continue putting pressure on DB&#39;s financials in the near term.

In the first half of August, Piper Sandler Companies (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/pipr#NYSE">PIPR</a>) announced that it has agreed to pay a total civil penalty of $16 million to U.S. regulators for record-keeping failures. To settle investigations into its record-keeping practices, PIPR will pay $14 million to the Securities and Exchange Commission (&quot;SEC&quot;) and $2 million to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (&quot;CFTC&quot;).
At the same time, Wells Fargo (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/wfc#NYSE">WFC</a>) was also fined for its record-keeping lapses. The crackdown, led by the SEC and the CFTC, underlined the significance of keeping accurate records of employee communications in the financial industry. WFC had incurred the highest penalty among the firms targeted, amounting to $200 million.

Elliott Investment Management is receiving nearly €200 million ($222 million) from Deutsche Bank AG as the German lender moves to resolve a long-running legal dispute, people with knowledge of the matter said.

'Elliott Gets €200 Million Payday From Deutsche Bank Settlement' - Bloomberg Law

Decibel Cannabis Company Inc. (TSXV:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DB#TSXV">DB</a>) (OTCQB:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DBCCF#OTCQB">DBCCF</a>) reported on Wednesday its unaudited interim financial results for the second quarter ending June 30, 2024.
&#8220;Decibel has shown good discipline in reducing our current liabilities by ~5mm this quarter," said Benjamin Sze, Decibel&#8217;s CEO. "Market share has been challenged but early indications from Qwest relaunch suggest we will regain market share in flower.  A continued focus on execution and capital efficiency will serve as the platform for future growth.&#8221;
The company reported net revenue of CA$22.1 million ($16.1 million), down from CA$28.5 million in the prior year's period, representing a 22% year-over-year drop. Its first quarter report published this past April revealed a 16% year-over-year revenue drop to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/05/39065170/decibel-cannabis-reports-16-yoy-drop-in-q1-revenue-ceo-expects-improved-q2-and-continued-path-to">CA$21 million and an adjusted net loss of CA$3.5 million.</a>
In his recent analysis senior analyst Pablo Zuanic of Zuanic &amp; Associates said Decibel&#8217;s management acknowledges the competitive pressures in the vape and pre-roll categories, particularly from competitors like Jeeter and Organigram.
"The company was slow to react to the rise of larger 510 cartridge formats and higher potency extracts," as highlighted in a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/06/39146622/cannabis-slowdown-in-canada-analyst-spotlights-what-still-sells-and-where-the-money">recent recap</a> of Zuanic's analysis by Beniznga's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/author/nicol-s-jose-rodriguez">Nicolás Jose Rodriguez.</a> "However, Zuanic shared new product launches in 2Q24 aim to address these gaps.
