On March 27, Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) Google introduced several new features across <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/google" rel="noreferrer noopener">Search, Maps, and Gemini</a> to enhance vacation planning, BofA Securities noted Monday.
In Search, users can generate detailed travel itineraries with AI Overviews, which can be saved as custom lists in Google Maps.
Google has also expanded hotel price tracking globally, letting users know when rates change.

A new screenshot-powered feature on Google Maps uses Gemini AI to identify places saved through screenshots, enabling users to organize and visualize their travel ideas.
Additionally, Google has made Gemini&#8217;s Gems feature available to all users for free. Gems allows users to create personalized AI assistants tailored to specific tasks within Gemini.
Travel is a critical vertical for Google, as it drives high-intent searches across hotels and flights, implying categories with strong monetization.
The new AI features can drive incremental queries on Google&#8217;s platform by engaging users earlier in decision-making.
The analyst noted that rather than transactional keywords like &#8220;cheap flights to Paris,&#8221; users can ask broader questions such as &#8220;suggest scenic road trip routes in California.&#8221; This will extend the volume and diversity of search queries, allowing Google to deliver more relevant results and target more high-value commercial content.
The analyst noted that the integrations also improve Google&#8217;s ability to compete with emerging AI search platforms (such as ChatGPT and Perplexity), which have been improving travel planning capabilities.
Perplexity has partnered with Selfbook and TripAdvisor, Inc to enable users to book hotel reservations. The booking tool could have discounts for Pro users, and the company has suggested air and rental car booking tools could follow. TripAdvisor will provide information on reviews and experiences to help travelers make choices.
The analyst noted that AI companies are, again, partnering with travel aggregators over suppliers OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) (Expedia Group, Inc (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/expe#NASDAQ">EXPE</a>) at 3 million) but are looking to expand rapidly.
The analyst said Gemini could partner with OTAs if the company pursues agentic AI tools this year. Google&#8217;s itinerary creation capabilities and Perplexity&#8217;s AI booking tools will also be built and offered by OTAs (including Booking and Expedia).
The OTAs can leverage their travel and customer data to offer competitive AI services, while their loyalty programs (unique discounts and points) could be competitive advantages.
For Airbnb, Inc., the company must best leverage its unique proprietary inventory, a key asset in an evolving AI world.
Price Action: GOOGL stock is down 0.64% at $153.34 at the last check on Monday.

Overexposure to Large-Cap Growth Stocks Isn&#8217;t a Good Idea
Several Redditors pointed out that VOO and QQQ heavily overlap, meaning the investor&#8217;s portfolio is not as diversified as he thinks.
&#8220;You&#8217;re just long all the same s&#8211;t, large-cap equities. You want multiple return streams in case large-cap equities have a drawdown. If you work a job, own a house, and own equities, you are triple long on the same bet that would destroy you as all are affected by a recession,&#8221; a commenter says.
A Redditor pointed out that a mix of large-cap stocks isn&#8217;t a complete retirement portfolio, and suggested other assets to balance it.
&#8220;Large-cap U.S. stocks can be a great investment, but they&#8217;re not a complete retirement portfolio. Other assets should be included, such as smaller-cap U.S. stocks, international stocks, and bonds,&#8221; the Redditor wrote.
While not against big tech, this commenter recommended the poster add non-tech exposure in his portfolio.
&#8220;I don't see picking high-quality companies that are in the index as redundant, you're overweighting the highest quality companies in the index and which drive its returns. I would look for maybe one high-quality non-big tech name. I love the credit rating agencies (S&amp;P and [Moody's (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/mco#NYSE">MCO</a>)]), but there are others, the three large credit card companies too,&#8221; he said.

Stick to Index Funds
Many advised the investor to drop the individual stocks he holds since they're already covered in VOO and QQQ, creating unnecessary concentration.
&#8220;Remove all redundancies and focus on VOO (almost everything you own is in VOO),&#8221; a Reddit user suggested.
&#8220;Good that you&#8217;re making an effort to invest, but there&#8217;s a lot of redundancy here. The Mag 7 already makes up a huge portion of VOO, why do you feel that you need to be even more extended in those stocks? If you really want to stock-pick on the side, I&#8217;d recommend focusing on lesser-known stocks (not penny stocks) that aren&#8217;t heavily weighted in the S&amp;P 500 (preferably not in it at all),&#8221; a commenter advised.
Reinforcing the idea that stock-picking isn&#8217;t adding value if the stocks are already in the ETF he has, this Redditor suggested the poster go all in in VOO or diversify more.
&#8220;I&#8217;d diversify some. VOO's major holdings are already included in the individual stocks you're holding. "All AI products right now are shipping non-stop and adding a ton of buttons and dropdown menus and clutter," Srinivas wrote. "The user shouldn't have to learn so much to use a product."

While many of the Magnificent 7 stocks have outperformed the S&amp;P 500 over the last five years, they could struggle to maintain that outperformance over the next year if current trends continue.

For comparison, the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), which tracks the S&amp;P 500, is down 4.4% year-to-date in 2025 and up 6.8% over the last year.
Meta is currently the only Mag 7 stock outperforming the SPY year-to-date in 2025. Amazon trails the S&amp;P 500 year-to-date in 2025 and is slightly higher over the last year.
For comparison, a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/24/11/42121665/could-another-magnificent-7-stock-beat-nvidia-in-2025-poll-says-not-likely-27-pick-this-potential-winner">November Benzinga reader poll</a> asked if any Mag 7 stock would outperform Nvidia in 2025. Here were those results:

Amazon ranked third in that poll, which could show that sentiment has shifted away from Nvidia and Tesla being the top Mag 7 stocks and instead investors are looking to Amazon as the leader for 2025.

Steps toward mitigation are already being taken, Wren indicated. "Keep in mind that some companies have been diversifying supply chains since the early days of the pandemic or even prior to that," he elaborated.

"Consumers can also blunt some of the effect of potential tariffs… for many products, there are substitution possibilities," Wren remarked, mentioning shifts toward domestic products as an example. Crude oil futures were trading lower in the early New York session by 0.39% to hover around $69.38 per barrel.
Gold Spot US Dollar advanced 0.59% to hover around $3,036.97 per ounce. Its previous record high stood at $3,057.51 per ounce.
Asian markets closed on a mixed note on Thursday. China&#8217;s CSI 300, India's S&amp;P BSE Sensex, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose in trade. Whereas, South Korea's Kospi, Japan's Nikkei 225, and Australia's ASX 200 index declined. European markets were lower in early trade.
