RESTON, Va., April 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- <a href="https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4399249-1&amp;h=1049751119&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.leidos.com%2F&amp;a=Leidos">Leidos</a> announced a new capability from its sea systems team called Sea Dart, a high-performance, low-cost, flexible and adaptable uncrewed undersea vessel (UUV) designed to support the U.S. Navy and commercial customers across a broad range of missions.

"For more than two decades, Leidos has been at the forefront of supporting the U.S. Navy with cutting-edge autonomous subsurface and surface vessels," said Dave Lewis, senior vice president of Sea Systems for the company. "Sea Dart is the next step in the progressive evolution of our UUV product line, introducing a new, low-cost commercial UUV to the market. It offers the flexibility to fully customize customer payloads while staying true to our core commitment to keeping production costs significantly lower than other models."
Sea Dart currently comes in two different standard diameters, six and nine inches, and is transportable by one or two people. It is payload agnostic and compatible with the U.S. Navy's preferred Underwater Vehicle software architecture as well as the U.S. Navy's new non-propagating UUV battery design. Its high performance and low cost make it ideal for difficult missions in contested high-risk, environments and, at the other end of the spectrum, for use in scientific and research settings where low cost is paramount. A 12 ¾ inch diameter version is under consideration.

The base year plus four option years single-award contract has a ceiling value of $390 million.
Leidos will perform a wide range of technical, engineering, systems administration and management functions. Tasks include delivery of SIGINT capabilities, analysis and reporting tool modifications, engineering services, lab and testbed management, integration and testing, deployment, training, and sustainment of a subset of NSA systems.
"Tailored and unique SIGINT solutions for the military and intelligence community are critical to delivering information superiority at speed," said Roy Stevens, Leidos National Security Sector president. "This contract will leverage Leidos' engineering and technical expertise, as we expand our work with the NSA."

U.S. stocks edged marginally lower on Tuesday after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell reiterated that the central bank is in no hurry to cut interest rates during his testimony before the Senate Banking Committee, offering little <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/02/43628752/feds-powell-reiterates-no-hurry-to-cut-interest-rates-as-inflation-remains-somewhat-elevated">support for risk assets.</a>
Investors remained on edge ahead of Wednesday's key inflation report, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics set to release the January Consumer Price Index.
The S&amp;P 500 dipped 0.1%, the Nasdaq 100 declined 0.2%, and small-cap stocks underperformed. Bucking the trend, the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted a marginal 0.1% gain.
Company-wise, Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>) surged 7%, after Vice President J.D. Vance indicated that artificial intelligence chips will be manufactured in the U.S.
Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) fell by over 4%, reaching the lowest levels in eleven weeks, pressured by weak January auto sales in China.
Geopolitical tensions flared as the European Union threatened countermeasures in response to President Donald Trump's announcement of 25% tariffs on aluminum and steel.
Long-dated Treasury yields moved higher, with the 10-year yield rising to 4.54%. Yet, the broader dollar index – as tracked by the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>) – weakened, down 0.2%. 
Gold paused for a breather, remaining flat at $2,900 per ounce. Oil prices inched up by 1%, eyeing the third straight session of gains. 
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) weakened 1.3% to $96,000.

US Stocks Dip As Powell Stays Cautious, Intel Climbs, Tesla Sinks To 11-Week Low: What's Driving Markets Tuesday?

On Tuesday, Leidos Holdings, Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LDOS#NYSE">LDOS</a>) reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2024 revenue growth of 10% year-over-year to $4.37 billion, beating the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/02/n43617405/leidos-posts-strong-fourth-quarter-and-fiscal-year-2024-results" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">analyst consensus estimate of $4.13 billion</a>. Demand across all customer segments, especially for managed health services, drove the increase. 
The defense, aviation, information technology and biomedical research, the company&#8217;s adjusted EPS was $2.37, up 19% year-over-year, beating the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">analyst consensus estimate of $2.27</a>.

Adjusted net income was $316 million for the quarter, up 14% year-over-year.
Adjusted EBITDA was $508 million, up 12% year over year. The margin of 11.6% increased from 11.4% a year ago.&nbsp;
Net bookings totaled $7.6 billion for the quarter, representing a book-to-bill ratio 1.7.&nbsp;As a result, the backlog at the end of the year was $43.6 billion, of which $8.4 billion was funded.&nbsp;
Leidos held $943 million in cash and equivalents as of January&nbsp;3, 2025.
CEO Tom Bell said 2024 results came at or above the high end of its guidance range across all metrics, with the fourth quarter especially strong in revenue growth and business development. Also, its 2024 performance propelled the company beyond the three-year targets established at its 2021 Investor Day.
Outlook:&nbsp;Leidos expects fiscal 2025 revenue of $16.9 billion–$17.3 billion. The analyst <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus stands&nbsp;at $16.98 billion</a>.
The company expects its fiscal 2024 adjusted EPS of $10.35–$10.75 versus the&nbsp;$10.58 consensus.
Leidos Holdings stock surged 25% in the last 12 months. However, at least three Wall Street firms cut <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/LDOS/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">their price target</a> on the stock since December 2024, including two downgrades of ratings by Goldman Sachs and TD Cowen.
