However, Didora sees heightened cost risks for Allegiant given its recent 737 MAX order and pilot labor costs.
American Airlines Group&#8216;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAL#NASDAQ">AAL</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/AAL/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">price forecast of $12</a> is based on 5.5x 2025E EBITDAR. The analyst says the target multiple is at a half-turn discount to American Airlines&#8217;s legacy peers, given higher leverage and execution risk.
For Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DAL#NYSE">DAL</a>), the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DAL/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BofA analyst believes</a> the network carrier can trade towards the upper end of its historical valuation range (4-6x) over time, given revenue diversification and strong operational execution.
Frontier Group Holdings Inc.&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ULCC#NASDAQ">ULCC</a>) <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ULCC/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">price forecast of $4</a> is based on approximately 6.5x 2026E EBITDAR, adjusted for sale-leaseback gains. This multiple is in line with ultra-low-cost carriers&#8217; historical valuation multiple and ULCC&#8217;s multiple since going public in 2021.
JetBlue Airways Corporation&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JBLU#NASDAQ">JBLU</a>) <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/JBLU/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">price forecast of $3</a> is based on approximately 0.9x EV/Sales multiple, which is in line with the 0.6-1.0x range that airline stocks traded in more difficult economic times, like those in 2008-2009.
&#8220;We believe this is reasonable given JBLU&#8217;s meaningfully depressed earnings and high net leverage,&#8221; the analyst wrote.

Given positive yield dynamics across the industry, this target multiple is at the high end of LUV&#8217;s long-term historical average of 6.2x.
United Airlines Holdings Inc&#8216;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UAL#NASDAQ">UAL</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/UAL/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">price forecast of $90</a> is based on approximately 5.5x 2025E EBITDAR.

Following a series of sobering near-miss incidents in U.S. airports, most recently when a Southwest Airlines (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LUV#NYSE">LUV</a>) plane came close to departing from a taxiway in Orlando, air carriers are focusing now on what could be the most priceless upgrade since in-flight Wi-Fi: cockpit alerts that scream at pilots before they undertake something disastrous.

At the forefront of this air safety upgrade is Honeywell (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HON#NASDAQ">HON</a>), which has created a Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS) that&#8217;s now in use across almost all of Southwest&#8217;s 800-strong Boeing 737 fleet, according to WSJ. And although this upgrade is, first and foremost, about ensuring passengers and crew are safe, it also represents a possible investment opportunity few are discussing: a boost in demand for avionics and safety technology, and the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">ETFs that contain them</a>.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wake-Up Call In The Cockpit</h2>
Honeywell&#8217;s system provides real-time voice and text alerts when pilots make hazardous maneuvers, such as turning onto an incorrect runway, landing too rapidly, or trying to take off from a taxiway. 
It&#8217;s not only Southwest becoming serious about safety. Other airlines such as Alaska Airlines (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ALK#NYSE">ALK</a>) are bringing the system on board as well, with Airbus and Boeing (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) allegedly working on their own in-house alert systems. With the FAA considering new proposals to mandate safety alerts on new planes, and potentially retrofits in the future, this might be only the start.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The ETF Angle: Follow The Beep</h2>
A number of large ETFs already provide exposure to aviation safety vendors such as Honeywell, and if the industry experiences an upgrade supercycle, these funds could be winners:
iShares U.S. Aerospace &amp; Defense ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ITA#BATS">ITA</a>): Top holding is Honeywell, followed by Boeing and Raytheon (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RTX#NYSE">RTX</a>). Traces defense and aerospace production companies, including safety systems and avionics.
Up 29% YTD, ITA may experience additional tailwinds if cockpit safety standards become an international standard.
SPDR S&amp;P Aerospace &amp; Defense ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XAR#NYSE">XAR</a>): Equal-weighted, providing more widespread exposure to mid-cap stocks that might include specialty avionics providers.
Comprises participants on next-gen safety software, hardware, and even autonomous flight system development.
Global X Future Analytics Tech ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AIQ#NASDAQ">AIQ</a>): Not aerospace-focused, but exposed to companies embedding AI in safety and risk-reduction systems. 
As cockpit notifications become more sophisticated with AI-based pattern recognition, funds such as AIQ might soon be cleared for takeoff.

Honeywell&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HON#NASDAQ">HON</a>) on Monday announced that Southwest Airlines (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LUV#NYSE">LUV</a>) is in the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/06/n45943435/honeywell-runway-safety-technology-selected-by-southwest-airlines-for-fleetwide-installation" rel="noreferrer noopener">process of activating</a> its entire Boeing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) Boeing 737 aircraft fleet with Honeywell&#8217;s SmartRunway and SmartLanding software designed to increase runway safety.
This capability is enabled via the Honeywell Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) already on Southwest aircraft, and more than 700 aircraft have been activated to date.
SmartRunway and SmartLanding use aural and visual alerts to increase flight crew situational awareness during taxi, takeoff, and landing and promote stabilized approaches.

SmartRunway and SmartLanding are certified for most Airbus and Boeing aircraft and numerous business aviation platforms.&nbsp;
Honeywell also announced it is currently testing its next-generation runway safety technology, Surface Alerts (SURF-A), with an expected certification for commercial aircraft in 2026, pending regulatory approval.
The company said in a press release that this agreement furthers Honeywell&#8217;s long-standing partnership with Southwest, the world&#8217;s largest 737 platform operator.
In 2015, Southwest selected Honeywell flight-deck systems for its 240-unit order of 737 MAX airliners, adding to its 737 Next Generation models flying with Honeywell cockpit avionics.&nbsp;
Southwest was also the first airline to incorporate Honeywell&#8217;s Integrated Multi-Mode Receiver technology into its fleet.
Shifting focus to international aviation, a recent crash in India has brought safety regulations to the forefront of industry discussions.
India&#8217;s aviation ministry is reportedly <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/06/45919464/boeing-faces-fresh-turmoil-as-india-mulls-787-8-grounding-after-fatal-crash-ceo-kelly-cancels-paris-trip-report" rel="noreferrer noopener">considering temporarily grounding</a> the country&#8217;s Boeing 787-8 fleet following a catastrophic&nbsp;Air India crash that killed over 240 people&nbsp;near Ahmedabad.
The fatal incident occurred when&nbsp;Air India&nbsp;flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London, crashed moments after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Air India operates 34 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, the largest domestic fleet of this type of aircraft. The airline could be scrutinized over its maintenance practices.
