Major corporations have already begun announcing layoffs on Thursday as President Donald Trump's sweeping new tariff structure is <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/25/04/44630499/trump-auto-tariffs-could-up-car-prices-by-15k-analyst-calls-it-pure-chaos">set to take effect.&nbsp;</a>
What To Know: One of the Big Three automakers, Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STLA#NYSE">STLA</a>), said on Thursday that it will be temporarily laying off 900 workers and pausing production at one assembly plant each in Mexico and Canada.&nbsp;
The move comes after a 25% tariff on all imported vehicles and auto parts went into effect on Thursday. Meanwhile, President Trump introduced a base 10% tariff on all goods coming into the United States and a broad set of reciprocal tariffs targeting several countries on Wednesday.

According to a Reuters report, Stellantis' Windsor Assembly in Canada will be down for two weeks while Toluca Assembly in Mexico, will be down for the month of April.&nbsp;
About 4,500 workers at Windsor will be impacted by the shutdown, while workers at Toluca will continue to report to work and get paid but will not make vehicles.&nbsp;
Stellantis COO Antonio Filosa said the company is &#8220;continuing to assess the medium- and long-term effects of these tariffs on our operations, but also have decided to take some immediate action,&#8221; in a letter sent to employees Thursday morning.&nbsp;
U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the job cuts at Stellantis "a horrifying consequence of Trump's tariffs" in a social media post.

More Cuts: Whirlpool Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WHR#NYSE">WHR</a>) announced on Thursday that it will lay off 651 workers from its manufacturing facility in Amana, Iowa, effective June 1. 
The company released a statement blaming the workforce reduction on slowing consumer demand.&nbsp;
"This is really about aligning to current market conditions driven by consumer demand, particularly as it relates to some of the appliances (refrigeration) made in Amana," Whirlpool's statement said.
Fisher-Price, a subsidiary of Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAT#NASDAQ">MAT</a>), also laid off up to 15 employees at its headquarters in East Aurora, New York on Thursday, according to<a href="https://buffalonews.com/news/local/business/article_9a3bfd49-4e15-40e5-843f-9ba3afcbd7e3.html"> a report</a> from the Buffalo News.&nbsp;
The company did not confirm the number of affected employees, but a Mattel spokesperson said the cuts are in line with the company&#8217;s Optimizing for Profitable Growth cost savings program.&nbsp;

Schumer Calls Stellantis Layoffs A 'Horrifying Consequence' Of Trump's Tariff Plan

Numerous public companies have updated their 2025 guidance in response to the Trump administration&#8217;s tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada, but additional tariffs on other countries could have significant impacts, DA Davidson analyst Linda Bolton Weiser warned in a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings">new note to clients on Tuesday</a>.

Trump is expected to announce reciprocal tariffs on several countries at a White House event at 4 p.m. ET. The Trump administration has said the tariffs could target specific sectors.
The tariff announcements have created uncertainty across markets with the S&amp;P 500 crossing into correction territory last month. The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) was up 0.46% at $563.55 at the time of publication Wednesday, according to <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a>. The SPY is still down about 4% year-to-date and well off its highs from February.

Tariff Risk Increases: Analyst Warns Of Additional Impact On Hasbro, Funko, Mattel, E.L.F. Beauty — 'Not Reflected In Estimates'

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/mat#NASDAQ">MAT</a>) today announced it has renewed a multi-year global licensing agreement with Disney for new products commemorating Toy Story's 30th anniversary and for the upcoming release of Toy Story 5 on June 19, 2026. The agreement extends Mattel's global licensing rights to develop lines of toys for Toy Story across Action Figures, Vehicles, Radio Control, Games, and Plush.
Disney and Pixar collaborated with Mattel on launching several new Toy Story products earlier this year. The products feature beloved characters from the fan-favorite movie and new packaging inspired by 30 years of Toy Story. The products are available now with more launching later this year.
Some of Mattel's products honoring Toy Story's 30th Anniversary are now available, with exciting Toy Story 5 releases planned for next year. J.P. Morgan analyst Christopher Horvers <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/MAT/analyst-ratings">reiterated a Neutral rating</a> on the shares of Mattel Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAT#NASDAQ">MAT</a>) and maintained the price forecast of $23.
The <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/02/43483126/mattel-shares-climb-after-better-than-expected-q4-results-fy25-eps-guidance-above-estimates">2025 guidance from Mattel </a>exceeds Wall Street expectations for revenue and slightly raises bottom-line estimates, driven by a favorable industry outlook and potential market share gains, the analyst said.
The company is forecasting net sales growth of 2% to 3% (constant currency), a gross margin of around 50.9%, and earnings per share (EPS) between $1.66 and $1.72, compared to the Street's projections of a 3% sales growth, a 50.4% gross margin, and $1.59 EPS.
The forecast accounts for the impact of tariffs, related mitigation actions and increased investments in the self-publishing digital games sector.
Mattel remains optimistic about the toy industry, expecting a stable to slightly improved market in 2025, alongside a return to more typical patterns in the theatrical market.

Despite a decline in point-of-sale (POS), the company's fourth-quarter sales surpassed expectations, increasing by 3% (constant currency), with gross billings also up by 3%. 
Looking ahead, management indicated a positive start to first-quarter POS but acknowledged that slightly elevated channel inventory at the start of the year may present a near-term challenge, though they do not anticipate this extending beyond first-quarter or leading to markdown risks. 
Overall, the company expects relatively flat sales year-over-year for first-quarter. Thus, the analyst is projecting a slight decline in first-quarter net sales of -0.6% (with Barbie down 7%, Hot Wheels up 2%, and Fisher-Price up 2%) and a 1.7% increase in FY25 net sales (Barbie down 2%, Hot Wheels up 4.5%, and Fisher-Price up 2%).
Overall, the company's sales performance exceeded expectations, showing significant upside in gross margin. The guidance for 2025 is favorable, even with the potential impact of tariffs, and the sales environment looks slightly improved, concluded the analyst.

Mattel Analyst Sees Hot Wheels Growth While Barbie Faces Mixed Outlook

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAT#NASDAQ">MAT</a>) shares are trading higher on Wednesday following better-than-expected 2024 fiscal-year <a href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/43483126">fourth-quarter earnings</a>.
The Details: The company released fourth-quarter financial results after the market closed on Tuesday, including sales of $1.65 billion, beating analysts estimate of $1.63 billion and representing a 2% growth year-over-year. In addition, Mattel reported adjusted earnings per share of 35 cents, beating analysts estimate of 20 cents.
Furthermore, Mattel reported adjusted EBITDA of $249 million, a $15 million increase compared to the same period last year, and adjusted operating income of $161 million. The company reported an adjusted gross margin of 50.8%, an increase of 200 basis points year-over-year.
&#8220;We had a strong&nbsp;fourth quarter&nbsp;with both sales growth and margin expansion. We continued to strengthen our balance sheet, repurchased&nbsp;$400 million&nbsp;of shares in 2024, further improved our leverage ratio, and are tracking ahead of schedule to achieve our&nbsp;$200 million&nbsp;cost savings target by the end of 2026,&#8221; said Anthony DiSilvestro, CFO of Mattel.
Additionally, Mattel issued guidance for the 2025 fiscal-year. It sees earnings per share from $1.66 to $1.72, versus analysts estimate of $1.58 and revenue growth of 2% to 3%.
&#8220;Mattel&#8217;s 2025&nbsp;guidance&nbsp;includes our expectation to grow top and bottom line, increase investments in digital games, and repurchase&nbsp;$600 million&nbsp;of shares. We are well positioned to continue to create long-term shareholder value,&#8221;&nbsp;said DiSilvestro.
The company said in the earnings report that the guidance also includes the anticipated impact of U.S. tariffs on imports from China, Mexico and Canada.
