According to the listing on eBay Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EBAY#NASDAQ">EBAY</a>), the incidents happened for the midnight launch of the Switch 2 console from Nintendo ADR (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NTDOY#OTC">NTDOY</a>) at the Staten Island, New York, location on June 5, 2025.
The auction <a href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/388688595731">listing </a>includes the stapler, the first stapled Nintendo Switch 2, the Switch 2 box and the staple.
"Features authentic field-use wear throughout and retired immediately from service, the stapler now stands as a retail legend born from a half-second decision," the auction listing says.
The stapled Nintendo Switch 2 console has been refurbished by GameStop with the screen repaired.
"It is the first known console to be officially stapled during a product launch by GameStop."
Also included in the auction is a Certificate of Authenticity for the items listed above from the GameStop CEO.
"While the incident itself was unfortunate, we hope its legacy serves a greater purpose," Cohen says on the COA.
Proceeds from the auction are going to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Auction Bidding Heats Up: At the time of writing, the stapler and additional items have a top bid of $243,433.00. Bidding started at $1 and there have been 314 bids since the listing was made public.
The auction ends on Wednesday, July 16, at 12:51 p.m. ET.
Helping boost the auction's visibility and bids have been several social media posts made by Cohen, who is a popular figure among video game fans and investors in GameStop stock.
Cohen famously played a central role in the GameStop short squeeze as a major investor, who later became chairman and then took on the CEO role.
"If this reaches six figures, I will include my underwear," Cohen <a href="https://x.com/ryancohen/status/1943032530736714175">tweeted </a>with a link to the auction listing.
With bidding over $100,000, this means the winning bidder will get a pair of underwear from the GameStop CEO.
"If this reaches seven figures I will fly the winner to Miami, take them to McDonald's for lunch and personally deliver my preowned underwear," Cohen said in another <a href="https://x.com/ryancohen/status/1943325564682539422">tweet</a>.
The auction has not quite made it to the $1,000,000 level needed for this second promise from Cohen. Time will tell if Cohen is just on the hook for a pair of his underwear or if he also needs to make lunch date plans with the lucky auction winner.

For the first time in history, Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) is launching a branded handheld gaming console, taking on Nintendo ADR&#8217;s (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NTDOY#OTC">NTDOY</a>) Switch 2, which <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/04/44984453/gamestop-stock-rises-amid-switch-2-preorders-whats-going-on">debuted on June 5.</a>
Here are the early details.
What Happened: Best known for several other business segments, Microsoft is also the owner of a video gaming division that includes the Xbox console and video game hits <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/legal/25/05/45590804/microsoft-clears-major-hurdle-as-ftc-ends-effort-to-block-activision-merger">from Activision Blizzard.</a>
The company recently <a href="https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2025/06/08/xbox-handheld-rog-ally-x-games-showcase/">unveiled </a>the ROG Xbox Ally handheld gaming console and the premium ROG Xbox Ally X.
The handhelds will offer cross-device gameplay "anytime, anywhere, on any device," according to the company.
Microsoft said the new handhelds will help usher in a new era for the gaming sector, where gamers can bring their games with them and, with the new console, play natively via the cloud or remotely with an Xbox console in another room.

Why It's Important: The announcement from Microsoft comes days after Nintendo released the Switch 2, its latest handheld gaming console.
Nintendo has dominated the handheld market for years with its Game Boy, Nintendo DS and Nintendo Switch consoles.
Sony Group Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SONY#NYSE">SONY</a>), which releases the PlayStation gaming console, briefly entered the handheld markets and had the Sony PS Vita, which sold over 15 million units.
One of the items that could quickly differentiate the Microsoft and Nintendo handhelds is the chips inside.
The ROG Xbox Ally X will include the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, while the ROG Xbox Ally will include the AMD Ryzen Z2 processor, both from Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>). For comparison, the Nintendo Switch 2 has a chip from NVIDIA Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), a company considered a leader in AI chips and GPUs.
Another difference could be the partnership between Microsoft and Roblox Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RBLX#NYSE">RBLX</a>). The partnership sees Roblox making its game playable natively for the first time ever and optimized for handhelds.

Earnings Estimates: Analysts expect GameStop to report first-quarter sales of $754.2 million, down from $881.8 million in last year's first quarter, according<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pro/register?utm_adType=bzprocontent&amp;utm_campaign=14daytrial&amp;utm_ad=0609"> to Benzinga Pro data.</a>
The company has missed analyst estimates for sales in six straight quarters and eight of the last 10 quarters overall.
Analysts expect GameStop to report a profit of 4 cents per share, an improvement on a loss of 12 cents per share in last year's first quarter.
The company beat analyst estimates for earnings per share in the fourth quarter and has beaten analyst estimates in five of the last 10 quarters overall. The first quarter loss last fiscal year was the only loss in GameStop's four fiscal quarters last year.
A strong first-quarter report and positive earnings per share could be a strong start for the company.

The gaming segment saw revenue jump 48% quarter-over-quarter in the first quarter, the highest sequential growth of any Nvidia segment.
Nvidia highlighted its products being used for the Nintendo Switch 2 during the earnings report. The big question will be how much of the revenue is already baked into the segment versus potential upside from more devices sold in future quarters or demand quickly outpacing supply.

While retailers such as Target, Best Buy and Walmart quickly sold out, GameStop launched its own online and in-store pre-orders at 11 a.m. ET on that Thursday, offering gamers another chance to secure the console, which retails for $449.99 or $499.99 with a Mario Kart bundle.
GameStop also introduced up to $175 in trade-in credit for older Switch models and plans to open all stores at midnight on June 5 for launch-day pickups. Despite this strategic positioning, the excitement hasn't translated into sustained gains for the stock since pre-orders began.

Nintendo Switch 2 also supports HDR and AI upscaling to sharpen visuals and smooth gameplay.
The new RT Cores bring real-time ray tracing, delivering lifelike lighting, reflections, and shadows for more immersive worlds.
Tensor Cores power AI-driven features like Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), boosting resolution for sharper details without sacrificing image quality.
Tensor Cores also enable AI-powered face tracking and background removal in video chat cases, enhancing social gaming and streaming.
Nintendo on Wednesday <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/gaming/25/04/44609298/nintendo-switch-2-price-release-date-specs-new-games-revealed" rel="noreferrer noopener">revealed the Switch 2</a>, launching June 5 at $450, with 4K gaming and enhanced features.
The standard console will be accompanied by a $500 bundle with a digital Mario Kart World copy.
The Switch 2 will have a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen with HDR and supports up to 120 frames per second. The system also introduces&nbsp;GameShare, enabling multiple Switch 2 consoles to connect and play shared games locally or online.

Coming to Nvidia, BofA&#8217;s Vivek Arya <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/25/02/43474406/nvidia-still-a-top-pick-as-microsoft-meta-stick-with-gpus-despite-deepseek-challenge-analyst" rel="noreferrer noopener">maintained a Buy</a> on it, calling it his top pick ahead of fourth-quarter earnings. He cited the rising tide of AI compute/networking demand and no evidence of GPUs losing their 80%+ share.
