Last week, we placed a number of short-term bullish trades. Most of those were predicated on us getting at least a market bounce in the near term. If that happens this week, than we'll make some money on those trades; if not, we won't.
At this point, I should note that I happen to have a large percentage of my portfolio in cash. That&#8217;s partly because I place a lot of options trades, where I use small dollar amounts. But it&#8217;s also because I got a cash settlement this year related to a nano cap stock I bought years ago. So I may be a bit more sanguine about buying lotto tickets now than you. So let's talk about what you should consider doing here.

<li>Add short exposure. We did that with Nvidia earlier this year. I've been hesitant to short into a declining market, in the event we're headed for a bounce. I'm probably going to add some short positions this week, whether we get a bounce nor not. Even if the bull market returns soon, we are probably going to see a rotation in leading names. So we may still be able to make money on the short side if we pick the right targets.</li>

(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CRWV#NASDAQ">CRWV</a>) closed at its exact initial public offering price of $40 apiece on Friday, this analyst highlights the challenges for the &#8220;tough&#8221; IPO, stemming from several reasons, including the reduction in artificial intelligence spending by companies in 2025.
What Happened: Dan Niles, the founder and portfolio manager of Niles Investment Management, described the CoreWeave IPO as a &#8220;tough&#8221; one as it closed at the exact IPO price on its listing day. He said in an X posy that a solid deal is one where the stock is up 15-30% from its IPO price on the opening day of trade.
According to Niles, the AI cloud infrastructure company closed at the IPO price because it was backed by Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>). The chipmaker, led by Jensen Huang, is a 6% investor and contributes at least 15% to CoreWeave&#8217;s revenue. However, Niles wasn&#8217;t convinced that Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), which contributes to 62% of CRWV&#8217;s revenue, did not invest $12 billion for extra capacity.
&#8220;What is more troubling to me is the news story that $MSFT, a 62% customer of Coreweave, turned down a $12B option for more capacity. OpenAI reportedly took this capacity, but Microsoft generates a lot of free cash flow to fund their spending, while OpenAI loses a tremendous amount and will need to raise capital in the future to fund their capex desires,&#8221; he said.
He also recalled Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. ADR (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BABA#NYSE">BABA</a>) chairman, Jack Ma&#8216;s March 25 statement on AI spending, where he said that pouring a lot of money ahead of significant demand wasn&#8217;t &#8220;entirely necessary&#8221;.
Niles said that these factors, along with reciprocal tariffs on April 2nd, do not bode well for how CoreWeave is likely to trade this upcoming week or related AI names.
&#8220;AI capex spending by mid-year will be going through a digestion phase due to a slowdown in training demand,&#8221; Niles said.

Meta is currently the only Mag 7 stock outperforming the SPY year-to-date in 2025. Amazon trails the S&amp;P 500 year-to-date in 2025 and is slightly higher over the last year.
For comparison, a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/24/11/42121665/could-another-magnificent-7-stock-beat-nvidia-in-2025-poll-says-not-likely-27-pick-this-potential-winner">November Benzinga reader poll</a> asked if any Mag 7 stock would outperform Nvidia in 2025. Here were those results:

Amazon ranked third in that poll, which could show that sentiment has shifted away from Nvidia and Tesla being the top Mag 7 stocks and instead investors are looking to Amazon as the leader for 2025.

Arya added that Nvidia could stay volatile ahead of the May 15 deadline.
The analyst lays out the bear and base cases for Nvidia with the China restrictions and gets P/E ratios of 20x for the bull-case and 26x for the bear-case, which are both below the historical average of 36x.
Arya said Nvidia has around 10% direct China data-center exposure, with the rest of China sales coming from less restricted sectors like gaming and auto. The impact from China restrictions could be 0% to 23% of calendar year 2026 earnings per share, the analyst said.
"Once the geopolitical concerns are sized and priced, we expect NVDA to recover, much like the relative recovery we have seen in semicap stocks this year once China exposure was reflected in wafer fab equipment spending."
Nvidia has criticized rules in the past, the analyst added.
Nivida said caps for Tier 2 and Tier 3 countries could harm global innovation, hurt US competitiveness and push countries to Chinese alternatives.
After examining potential scenarios of how much restrictions could hurt Nvidia, Arya maintains a Buy rating.
"We believe the stock is providing a particularly attractive opportunity for one of the most unique, high-quality tech franchises leading the largest and fastest growing secular trends."
NVDA Price Action: Nvidia stock is down 1.3% to $110.00 on Friday versus a 52-week trading range of $75.61 to $153.13. Nvidia stock is down 20.6% year-to-date in 2025.
