What To Know: Palantir shares appear to be getting a lift from a Barron&#8217;s <a href="https://www.barrons.com/articles/palantir-stock-chairman-peter-thiel-b63415c7">report</a> suggesting Palantir co-founder and chairman Peter Thiel has completed selling the maximum number of shares under a trading plan he adopted in May.
Thiel reportedly sold 12.412 million Palantir shares at an average price of $36.85 per share from Sept. 27 through Oct. 1 under the 10b5-1 trading plan. The shares were sold through Rivendell 7 LLC, which now has approximately 34.26 million shares of Palantir remaining. 
The report indicates that Thiel had until Dec. 31, 2025 to execute the sales under the plan, but has now exhausted the number of shares he was set to sell.
Palantir shares popped shortly after the report surfaced. It&#8217;s worth noting that Barron&#8217;s released a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/41010963/nvidia-stock-is-ripping-higher-tuesday-whats-going-on">similar article</a> on Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) CEO Jensen Huang last month, showing that the Nvidia CEO had completed selling the maximum number of shares under his 10b5-1 trading plan several months early. Nvidia shares surged approximately 4% on the report.

What Else: Palantir on Wednesday announced a multi-year <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/10/41141540/palantir-technologies-partners-with-edgescale-ai-to-operationalize-ai-in-manufacturing-and-utili">strategic partnership</a> with Edgescale AI to operationalize <a href="http://benzinga.com/topic/ai">artificial intelligence (AI)</a> in manufacturing, utilities and other industrial environments.

Investors can gain an edge by knowing money flows in SPY and QQQ.  Investors can get a bigger edge by knowing when smart money is buying stocks, gold, and oil.  The most popular ETF for gold is SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>).  The most popular ETF for silver is iShares Silver Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SLV#NYSE">SLV</a>). The most popular ETF for oil is United States Oil ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USO#NYSE">USO</a>).

Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) is seeing selling along with junk stocks.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Protection Band And What To Do Now</h3>
It is important for investors to look ahead and not in the rearview mirror.
Consider continuing to hold good, very long term, existing positions. Based on individual risk preference, consider a protection band consisting of cash or Treasury bills or short-term tactical trades as well as short to medium term hedges and short term hedges. This is a good way to protect yourself and participate in the upside at the same time.
You can determine your protection bands by adding cash to hedges. The high band of the protection is appropriate for those who are older or conservative. The low band of the protection is appropriate for those who are younger or aggressive. If you do not hedge, the total cash level should be more than stated above but significantly less than cash plus hedges.
A protection band of 0% would be very bullish and would indicate full investment with 0% in cash. A protection band of 100% would be very bearish and would indicate a need for aggressive protection with cash and hedges or aggressive short selling.
It is worth reminding that you cannot take advantage of new upcoming opportunities if you are not holding enough cash.  When adjusting hedge levels, consider adjusting partial stop quantities for stock positions (non ETF); consider using wider stops on remaining quantities and also allowing more room for high beta stocks. High beta stocks are the ones that move more than the market.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Traditional 60/40 Portfolio</h3>
Probability based risk reward adjusted for inflation does not favor long duration strategic bond allocation at this time.
Those who want to stick to traditional 60% allocation to stocks and 40% to bonds may consider focusing on only high quality bonds and bonds of five year duration or less.&nbsp; Those willing to bring sophistication to their investing may consider using bond ETFs as tactical positions and not strategic positions at this time.

<h3>SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust </h3>
SPY (ARCA: SPY) is trading near our key level of 567.81. For bullish momentum, we&rsquo;d like to see a push higher to the next target of 569.16. Should this level hold firmly, buyers might aim to elevate the price to the 569.98 support. If this support holds through regular trading hours, it opens the door for an additional climb toward 571.06. Our high bull target for SPY stands at 572.15.
If 567.81 fails as support, the bears will likely attempt to test 566.46. If selling pressure persists, we can anticipate a further move down to 565.38. A decisive breakdown from there might lead to a test of 564.29, with a sharp sell-off potentially targeting the low bear level of 563.23.
<h3>Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1 </h3>
The QQQ (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/qqq#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) is currently trading around 481.73. For bulls to maintain control, we need buyers to hold the line above this level, driving the price toward 483.95. A solid move above 483.95 could signal a path to higher levels, with 486.10 acting as the next upside target. If momentum is sustained, expect the price to reach the 487.69 resistance, with the high bull target for today at 490.05.
On the flip side, failure to hold 481.73 could see the bears gaining traction, sending the price to 479.03. Continued selling pressure might lead to further downside, testing the 476.85 level. Should this support break, we expect a potential decline toward 474.66, with a final bear target at 471.33.
<h3>Apple Inc. </h3>
Apple&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/aapl#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) is currently auctioning near 225.31. Bulls will look to hold this level and aim for a push to 226.08, reinforcing it as a key support zone. If buying continues, the next move would likely target 226.90, with bullish momentum bringing a possible test of the 227.82 high bull target for the day.
However, if 225.31 doesn&rsquo;t hold, we can expect a test of 223.87 on the downside. Continued selling could drive the price lower to 222.96. A break below this level might lead to a further drop toward 222.24, with a potential low bear target at 221.66.
<h3>Microsoft Corp.</h3>
Microsoft&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/msft#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) is currently trading around 419.17. Bulls will aim to defend this level, seeking a rally up to 420.26. If the price stabilizes above this point, buyers could push for a run toward 421.62, with continued momentum targeting the 422.84 high bull level for the day.
If 419.17 fails as support, bears may take control and push the price down to 417.25. Should this level break, expect a further decline to 416.32. Continued downside pressure could lead to a test of 414.56, with a final bear target of 413.14 for the day.
<h3>NVIDIA Corporation</h3>
NVIDIA&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/nvda#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) is currently trading near our key level of 115.83. For bulls to take charge, they&rsquo;ll need to push the price to 116.61 and hold it as support. A solid move higher could target 117.86, with buying momentum potentially lifting the price to 119.44. The high bull target for today is 120.27.
If 115.83 doesn&rsquo;t hold, we&rsquo;ll be watching for a test of 115.15 on the downside. If selling pressure increases, the next level to watch is 114.29. A breakdown here might lead to further weakness, with the low bear target at 112.54.
<h3>Alphabet Inc Class A</h3>
Alphabet&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/googl#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) is currently auctioning around 167.04. Bulls need to maintain support at this level and push higher to 169.34. If they succeed, a rally could extend to 171.14, which stands as the high bull target for today.
If 167.04 doesn&rsquo;t hold, bears could step in and drive the price lower to 165.41. A break below this level might trigger additional selling down to 163.79. A significant decline could result in testing the low bear target of 161.79.
<h3>Meta Platforms Inc</h3>
Meta&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/meta#NASDAQ">META</a>) is currently trading around 573.25. Bulls need to hold this level as support to push higher toward 580.17. A strong buying session could see further gains to 585.73, with bullish momentum potentially reaching the high bull target of 591.29.
If 573.25 breaks down, we can expect a test of 565.53. Bears might intensify selling pressure, driving the price lower to 559.29. If this level gives way, the low bear target for Meta today is 553.05.
<h3>Tesla Inc.</h3>
Tesla&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tsla#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) is trading around 256.34. Bulls will aim to hold this level and push toward 257.56. If the buying momentum continues, expect Tesla to test the next resistance at 259.81. With a strong market rally, we might see Tesla hit 262.68, with a high bull target at 264.46.
If Tesla fails to hold 256.34, we could see a test of 254.28. Continued selling pressure may drive the price to 252.38. A break below this level could lead to a deeper pullback, targeting the low bear level of 250.25.
Final Word: Today&rsquo;s trading session starts with the Non-Farm Employment Change at 8:15 AM ET, a key labor market indicator that often sets the tone for the day. Following that, Fed&rsquo;s Hammack speaks at 9:00 AM ET, potentially providing more clarity on future monetary policy. At 11:00 AM ET, Fed Governor Bowman, a voting member, will address the Community Banking Research Conference, which could offer further insights into the central bank&rsquo;s thinking.&nbsp;
At 12:15 PM ET, Fed&#39;s Barkin, another voting member, is scheduled to speak at the Wilmington Biz Conference and Expo, potentially adding to market volatility. Given the importance of the data releases and multiple Fed speakers throughout the day, expect significant price swings and volatility. Market Clubhouse Morning Memo - October 2nd, 2024 (Trade Strategy For SPY, QQQ, AAPL, MSFT, NVDA, GOOGL, META And TSLA)

Earlier this month, Iris Energy Ltd (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IREN#NASDAQ">IREN</a>) announced the purchase of 1,080 of Nvidia Corp's (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/40883366/whats-going-on-with-iris-energy-shares-monday">H200 GPUs for $43.9 million</a>.
The company represents "an attractive investment opportunity in the growing energy demand for digital infrastructure," according to Roth Capital Partners.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/588b3f4d77f9dd0001460894/darren-aftahi">Analyst Darren Aftahi</a> initiated coverage of Iris Energy with a Buy rating and price target of $14.
The Iris Energy Thesis: The company has among the "largest untapped power portfolios operating multi-purpose data centers," which are mainly for mining Bitcoin and a "small but fast-growing, highly profitable AI Cloud business," Aftahi said in the initiation note.

While more than 98% of Iris Energy's capacity serves Bitcoin mining, its AI Cloud segment reached an ARR (annual recurring revenues) of around $15 million in August, with around 98% hardware margins, he added.
"Its recent AI Cloud expansion should more than double its ARR figure (by YE CY24), driving 10% of profits going forward," the analyst wrote. "However, we believe the real opportunity and value lies in its power assets and converting them into highly visible/high-margin HPC opportunities," he further stated.
IREN Price Action: Shares of Iris Energy had risen by 1.24% to $7.83 at the time of publication on Wednesday.

Shawn Yang of Arete Research and Appaloosa Management founder David Tepper rated Chinese e-commerce juggernaut Alibaba as the key beneficiary of the stimulus. Tepper&nbsp;increased exposure to Alibaba and rival stocks.

Despite tailwinds, Taiwan Semiconductor is susceptible to geopolitical risks and rising tension between the U.S. and China.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping reiterated his commitment to &#8220;reunification&#8221; with Taiwan on the eve of China&#8217;s 75th anniversary, CNN <a target="_blank" href="https://edition.cnn.com/2024/10/01/china/china-xi-reunification-taiwan-national-day-intl-hnk/index.html" rel="noreferrer noopener">reports</a>, implying that geopolitical tensions will persist.
On Sunday, U.S. President Joe Biden approved Taiwan&#8217;s $567 million military aid package.
For context, the U.S. sanctions on China forbid the Asian counterpart from importing Nvidia artificial intelligence chips.
Although China&#8217;s Communist Party has never governed Taiwan, it claims the self-governing democracy as its own. Since the end of the Chinese civil war in 1949, China and Taiwan have been ruled by separate governments.

Cues From Last Session:
Wall Street pulled back sharply on Tuesday as traders reacted negatively to Iran&#8217;s missile attack on Israel, the start of a dockworkers&#8217; strike that would handicap half of the country&#8217;s shipping and the impact of Hurricane Helene, which unleashed its fury over the Southeastern states. To make matters worse, the Institute for Supply Management&#8217;s manufacturing purchasing managers&#8217; index contracted by more than expected.
On a positive note, job openings came in at a better-than-expected 8 million in August, the Labor Department said.
The averages opened lower and languished below the unchanged line throughout the session before closing sharply lower. All but energy, utility and communication services stocks, closed lower, with IT stock coming in for a sound thrashing.

Insights From Analysts:
October is a seasonally strong month but it often starts slow before picking up momentum as the third-quarter earnings announcements begin to drop, said fund manager Louis Navellier. &#8220;I am expecting that the second half of October will be stronger than the first half,&#8221; he said. The fund manager expects fundamentally superior stocks to benefit from earnings surprises.
Further ahead into November, the next president would have been elected and the Fed will cut interest rates again, he said. He expects consumer sentiment to improve with most of the economic and political uncertainty removed.

On the economic data front, construction spending in the U.S. declined by 0.1% month-over-month to an annual rate of $2,132 billion in August. The ISM manufacturing PMI came in unchanged at 47.2 in September.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a negative note, with information technology, real estate, and financials stocks recording the biggest losses on Tuesday. However, energy and utilities stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.

It is important for investors to look ahead and not in the rearview mirror.
Consider continuing to hold good, very long term, existing positions. Based on individual risk preference, consider a protection band consisting of cash or Treasury bills or short-term tactical trades as well as short to medium term hedges and short term hedges. This is a good way to protect yourself and participate in the upside at the same time.
You can determine your protection bands by adding cash to hedges.&nbsp; The high band of the protection is appropriate for those who are older or conservative. The low band of the protection is appropriate for those who are younger or aggressive.&nbsp; If you do not hedge, the total cash level should be more than stated above but significantly less than cash plus hedges.
A protection band of 0% would be very bullish and would indicate full investment with 0% in cash.&nbsp; A protection band of 100% would be very bearish and would indicate a need for aggressive protection with cash and hedges or aggressive short selling.
It is worth reminding that you cannot take advantage of new upcoming opportunities if you are not holding enough cash.&nbsp; When adjusting hedge levels, consider adjusting partial stop quantities for stock positions (non ETF); consider using wider stops on remaining quantities and also allowing more room for high beta stocks.&nbsp; High beta stocks are the ones that move more than the market.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Traditional 60/40 Portfolio</h3>
Probability based risk reward adjusted for inflation does not favor long duration strategic bond allocation at this time.
Those who want to stick to traditional 60% allocation to stocks and 40% to bonds may consider focusing on only high quality bonds and bonds of five year duration or less.&nbsp; Those willing to bring sophistication to their investing may consider using bond ETFs as tactical positions and not strategic positions at this time.

Due to his enormous wealth, Huang has significantly increased the amount of money he donates to charity. By 2022, the foundation&#8217;s assets had grown from $13.2 million in 2007 to around $1 billion, according to the Observer.

Reports recently indicated that the Huang Foundation controls 69 million shares of Nvidia, currently valued at over $8 billion. This makes it the 20th largest foundation in the U.S. and its assets have increased eightfold since the end of 2022.&nbsp;
In addition, Huang and his wife manage the GeForce Fund, also a donor-advised fund that holds an undisclosed number of Nvidia shares, with DAFgiving360 estimating that $4.4 billion of Nvidia stock is aggregated in funds controlled by the couple and their foundation.
While DAFs provide tax benefits and allow donors to maintain control over their giving, they have come under fire for their lack of transparency and accountability.

While DAFs offer a great deal of control over charity contributions, experts have pointed out that they can also cause money to remain unused for long stretches of time, which can restrict the immediate influence that gifts could have on urgent social issues.

<li>Due to low visibility on Blackwell servers' 2025 product shipment mix (a few months ago, the market generally believed there would only be NVL36, NVL72, and NVL36&#x2A;2), some suppliers, such as those in assembly and cooling solutions, may face significant impacts on their 2025 outlook.</li>

<li>NVL72 saves data center space. If cooling design challenges for the sidecar can be well addressed, NVL72 would require one less rack than NVL36&#x2A;2, improving data center space efficiency.</li>
<li>NVL72 offers better inference efficiency. Benefiting from parallelizable software design, NVL72 and NVL36&#x2A;2 show minimal differences in AI LLM training results. However, in non-parallelizable or less easily parallelizable inference processes (such as autoregressive models), NVL72 tends to outperform NVL36&#x2A;2.</li>
<li>Major customer preference. Clients like Microsoft prefer NVL72 over NVL36&#x2A;2.</li>
<li>Fulfilling public commitments. Nvidia has consistently promoted the single-rack NVL72 in public. To honor these commitments under resource constraints, NVL72 development takes priority over NVL36&#x2A;2.</li>

If poor design leads to peak power consumption (electrical design point (EDP), as Nvidia calls it) exceeding TDP, two or more sidecars may be required. This would not only increase cooling design complexity and production difficulties but also negate NVL72's data center space-saving advantage.</li>
<li>Another design challenge for the sidecar is controlling the approaching temp stably within 5–10°C. Relaxing this standard could affect system stability.</li>
<li>It's worth noting that the high power consumption challenge mentioned above involves not only the sidecar, but all components and system design.</li>
<li>My latest supply chain survey indicates that NVL72 mass production may be delayed until 2H25 (versus Nvidia's optimistic target of 1H25).</li>

<h3>SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust</h3>
The SPY&nbsp;(ARCA: SPY) is currently trading around 573.50, an important level for bulls to maintain. For upside potential, buyers will aim to push through 574.65, signaling strength and opening the door for a move toward 575.67. If this area holds during the session, we could see a further rally targeting 576.62. A strong bullish push might even take us to the high target of 577.87 for the day.
On the downside, failure to hold 573.50 as support could bring selling pressure, testing 572.15. If sellers dominate, the next key level to watch is 571.06. Should this support level break, we may see a drop toward 569.98. In an extended sell-off, the low bear target for SPY sits at 569.16.
<h3>Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1</h3>
The QQQ (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/qqq#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) is currently near a key pivot at 487.69, where bulls need to sustain momentum. Holding above this level could lead to a move higher to 490.05. If buyers can maintain control, we may see the price push further to 491.82. Should the bullish trend strengthen, we expect a potential test of 493.60, with a high target set at 495.35.
However, if 487.69 fails to act as support, bears could gain control, driving prices down to 486.10. Increased selling pressure could then test 483.95, with further weakness bringing 481.73 into play. A stronger sell-off may result in a test of the low bear target at 479.03.
<h3>Apple Inc.</h3>
Apple&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/aapl#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) is currently trading around 230.25, a critical level for bullish traders. Buyers will aim to push the price higher, targeting 231.76 as the next resistance. Should momentum persist, 233.28 could come into play, with continued strength potentially pushing toward the high bull target of 234.20.
On the flip side, if 230.25 fails to hold as support, we could see a move down to 229.03. Additional selling pressure might push the stock lower to 227.82. If bears continue to dominate, 226.90 becomes a key level to watch, with a low bear target of 226.08 in sight.
<h3>Microsoft Corp.</h3>
Microsoft&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/msft#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) is currently hovering around 429.25, a key level that bulls will want to defend. A break above 429.25 could push the price toward 430.25, where holding support may set up a further rally. Should buying momentum continue, we could see a move to 431.25, with a potential test of the high bull target at 432.49.
If 429.25 does not hold, sellers could look to take control, targeting 428.48 initially. Continued selling might lead to a test of 427.36, and if bearish momentum persists, 426.00 could come into play. The low bear target for Microsoft on the day is 425.16.
<h3>NVIDIA Corporation</h3>
NVIDIA&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/nvda#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) is trading near 121.97, a key level that buyers will try to push higher from. A successful hold of support at 123.41 could ignite bullish momentum, potentially driving the stock toward 125.21. Should the buying persist, 126.84 becomes a target, with the high bull level set at 128.10.
If 121.97 fails to hold, sellers might step in, targeting 120.27 as the first level to test. Further selling pressure could push the stock down to 119.44. Should the bears remain in control, 117.86 becomes the next key support, with a low target of 116.61 on the day.
<h3>Alphabet Inc Class A</h3>
Alphabet (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/googl#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) is currently trading around 167.04, a critical level for the bulls to maintain control. A break higher could see a move toward 169.34, with buyers looking to reclaim this level as support. If the bullish momentum continues, we could see a push toward the high target of 171.14.
Should 167.04 fail to act as support, bears may push the price down to 165.41. If selling pressure intensifies, the next area of support is at 163.79. A more extended sell-off could lead to a test of the low bear target at 161.79.
<h3>Meta Platforms Inc</h3>
Meta&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/meta#NASDAQ">META</a>) is trading around 573.25, a level that bulls will want to defend. If buyers can hold this area, they may push the price up to 580.17. Continued strength could drive Meta higher toward 585.73, with the high bull target for the day set at 591.29.
On the downside, a break below 573.25 could see bears take control, driving the price down to 565.53. Further selling could lead to a test of 559.29, with a possible move to the low bear target of 553.05 if bearish pressure remains strong.
<h3>Tesla Inc.</h3>
Tesla&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tsla#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) is currently near a key level of 259.81, and bulls will aim to push higher from here. A successful rally could bring the price to 262.68, with continued buying strength targeting 264.46. Should the bullish momentum pick up, Tesla could test the high bull target of 269.48.
If 259.81 fails as support, bears could gain control, targeting 257.56 initially. Further downside pressure could see the price fall to 256.34, with the low bear target for the day at 254.28 if selling intensifies.
