The company said the business is gaining strong momentum, with eight marketed brands expected to generate $3 billion to $8 billion at peak sales.
CEO Vas Narasimhan noted increased peak sales estimates for flagship drugs, including Cosentyx, Kisqali, Kesimpta, Pluvicto, and Leqvio, alongside 15 pivotal submission-enabling readouts in the pipeline.
He highlighted the company's long-term strategy, identifying more than 30 promising pipeline assets poised to rejuvenate its portfolio and sustain mid-single-digit growth beyond 2029.
Over the past two years, Novartis has executed more than 30 deals targeting exploratory and preclinical stages. The transaction value is up to $1.1 billion, comprising an upfront payment and potential additional milestone payments.
Kate Therapeutics' primary programs include preclinical candidates for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, facioscapulohumeral dystrophy, and myotonic dystrophy type 1.

The company disclosed a research collaboration and license agreement with Novartis AG (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVS#NYSE">NVS</a>) to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/b41896013/schr-dinger-announces-multi-target-collaboration-and-expanded-software-licensing-agreement-with-no" rel="noreferrer noopener">advance multiple development candidates</a>.
The companies also announced an extended&nbsp;three-year agreement that grants Novartis broad access to Schrödinger&#8217;s predictive modeling and informatics platform, enabling large-scale integration across research sites.
Karen Akinsanya, president of R&amp;D, therapeutics at Schrödinger, said, &#8220;We are delighted to work with Novartis and leverage their strong expertise to jointly advance several of Schrödinger&#8217;s existing non-oncology discovery programs as well as collaborate on additional programs.&#8221;
Schrödinger will support full platform integration to enhance computational drug discovery for Novartis. As per the terms, Novartis will pay Schrödinger $150 million upfront, with potential for up to $892 million in research, development, and regulatory milestones, plus up to $1.38 billion in commercial milestones. Schrödinger will also earn tiered royalties.
Ramy Farid, chief executive officer of Schrödinger stated, &#8220;We are very pleased to enable the further integration of our platform across Novartis&#8217; research teams to realize our shared vision for modernizing drug discovery through a computational &#8220;predict first&#8221; approach.&#8221;
Additionally, in a separate release, the company reported third-quarter revenue of $35.3&nbsp;million, missing the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/b41896184/schr-dinger-reports-third-quarter-2024-financial-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus of $40.57 million</a>.
Software revenue rose 10% to $31.9 million, led by increased hosted license contributions. Adjusted loss per share of 87 cents missed <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the street view for a loss of 60 cents.</a>
As of September 30, 2024, Schrödinger had cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and marketable securities stood at $398.4 million.
Outlook: Schrödinger now anticipates 2024 software revenue growth of 8% &#8211; 13%, compared to its previous 6% &#8211; 13% range, while lowering its drug discovery revenue guidance to $20 million &#8211; $30 million from the prior <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">guidance of $30 million &#8211; $35 million</a>.

Novartis forecasts full-year sales growth in the low double digits, having previously guided for high-single to low-double-digit growth.

Last week, Lyell Immunopharma Inc.&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LYEL#NASDAQ">LYEL</a>) agreed to acquire ImmPACT Bio USA Inc., a privately owned clinical-<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/10/g41529414/lyell-immunopharma-to-acquire-immpact-bio-and-prioritizes-its-pipeline-to-focus-on-next-generation" rel="noreferrer noopener">stage biotechnology company</a>.
Lyell has prioritized its pipeline to focus resources on its most differentiated CAR T-cell clinical programs, including IMPT-314 following the close of the acquisition and LYL119.

Lyell expects its cash balance to fund operations into 2027.
Deal terms include upfront consideration of $30 million in cash and 37.5 million Lyell shares.
ImmPACT shareholders will also be eligible for contingent consideration consisting of 12.5 million Lyell shares and a low single-digit royalty on future net sales.
BofA Securities has downgraded Lyell from Buy to Underperform, with a price target of $1, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/LYEL/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">down from $6</a>.
The analyst said, &#8220;While discontinuation of &#8216;797 isn&#8217;t a surprise, we think optimism is growing for next-gen &#8216;119&#8217;s improved therapeutic window.&#8221;
The acquisition of ImmPACT Bio for its IMPT-314 introduces complexities that could cloud the narrative. The analyst added that while the potential of &#8216;314 is visible, the program appears to lack clinical and commercial synergy, and with limited resources and rising competition, it risks becoming a distraction.
An analyst noted that with Lyell's focus on restarting its solid tumor program and expanding into hematology, it's challenging to maintain a positive outlook.
It remains uncertain if IMPT-314 can provide significant clinical improvements, and it will likely face tough competition from established players like Gilead Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GILD#NASDAQ">GILD</a>), Bristol Myers Squibb &amp; Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BMY#NYSE">BMY</a>), and Novartis AG (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVS#NYSE">NVS</a>).

On Tuesday, Novartis AG (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVS#NYSE">NVS</a>) reported third-quarter sales of $12.823 billion, up 9% (+10% on constant currency), beating the consensus of $12.76 billion. Volume contributed 12 percentage points to growth.
The Swiss pharma giant <a target="_blank" href="https://www.novartis.com/news/media-releases/novartis-continues-strong-momentum-q3-10-sales-growth-20-core-operating-income-growth-and-important-innovation-milestones-raises-fy-2024-guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">reported</a> adjusted EPS of $2.06, up from $1.74 a year ago and beating the consensus of $1.96
Core operating profit for the third quarter grew to $5.15 billion from $4.41 billion the year prior.

Novartis generated $6 billion in free cash flow for the third quarter, up 18% year-over-year.
&#8220;All key growth drivers contributed to the momentum. We achieved important indications expansions for&nbsp;Kisqali&nbsp;in early breast cancer and&nbsp;Fabhalta&nbsp;in IgA nephropathy, and we completed our PSMAfore filing for&nbsp;Pluvicto&nbsp;in the US. With the momentum in our business and pipeline, we were able to once again upgrade our full-year guidance and remain highly confident in our mid-term outlook,&#8221; said CEO Vas Narasimhan.
Quarterly Cosentyx sales gained 27% to $1.69 billion, driven by recent launches (including the HS indication and the IV formulation in the US) and volume growth in core indications.
Heart failure drug Entresto sales increased 26% to $1.87 billion, a demand-led growth. The drug has increased penetration in the U.S. and Europe following guideline-directed medical therapy for heart failure and in China with increased penetration in hypertension.
Multiple sclerosis drug Kesimpta sales reached $838 million, up +28%, reflecting increased demand for a high-efficacy product with convenient self-administered dosing.
Guidance: Novartis also raised its 2024 full-year guidance again this year.
In a statement, Novartis said it expects full-year core operating income to grow by a &#8220;high teens&#8221; percentage, compared with previous guidance of a &#8220;mid-to-high teens&#8221; percentage.
Novartis forecasts full-year sales growth in the low double digits, having previously guided for high-single to low-double-digit growth.
Price Action: NVS stock is down 3.29% at $111.82 during the premarket session at the last check on Tuesday.

This is a 18.39 percent increase over earnings of $1.74 per share from the same period last year. The company reported quarterly sales of $12.823 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $12.764 billion by 0.46 percent. This is a 8.85 percent increase over sales of $11.780 billion the same period last year.
