Marvell Technology Inc.&#8216;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MRVL#NASDAQ">MRVL</a>) data center revenue tripled over the last two years, hitting a record in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. The company&#8217;s management expects the momentum to continue going ahead.
What Happened: During the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/05/45681892/marvell-technology-stock-slips-after-q1-results-details">first quarter</a>, the company posted a record data center revenue of $1.44 billion, which was up 5% sequentially and 76% year-over-year.
&#8220;Looking ahead to the second quarter, we expect this momentum to continue with data center revenue projected to grow sequentially in the mid-single-digit range on a percentage basis, while maintaining strong year-over-year growth,&#8221; said the chairman and CEO, Matt Murphy, during the earnings call.
Murphy explained that the surge in data center revenue was led by the shipment of its custom silicon and electro-optics products.
&#8220;These strong results along with our second quarter guidance are being driven by the rapid scaling of our custom AI silicon programs to high volume production, along with robust shipments of our electro-optics products for AI and cloud applications,&#8221; he added.
Marvell&#8217;s data center revenue has tripled since 2023, as per the data highlighted by the AI-driven fundamental research platform, FinChat.

Why It Matters: <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/05/45681892/marvell-technology-stock-slips-after-q1-results-details">Marvell&#8217;s first quarter</a> revenue stood at $1.9 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $1.88 billion. The company also posted better-than-expected earnings of 62 cents per share, above the street estimate of 61 cents.
Marvell sees second-quarter net revenue of $2 billion, plus or minus 5%, and non-GAAP EPS of 67 cents, plus or minus five cents.
However, the shares of the company fell despite good earnings; it ended 1.33% lower on Thursday and slipped 3.28% in after-hours. The stock was down 43.88% in 2025 and 17.07% over the whole year.

Marvell Technology Data Center Business Triples Over 2 Years As Custom Silicon And Optics Fuel Surge: 'Expect This Momentum To Continue'

Economist Nouriel Roubini believes the markets are the last line of defense against President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8216;worst instincts&#8217; on the economic front.
What Happened: On Thursday, Roubini, who is popular referred to as &#8220;Dr. Doom&#8221; for predicting 2008 financial crisis, posted on X with a link to his latest Project-Syndicate column detailing the options in front of Trump, and the different paths that U.S. economy can pursue from here.
In the tweet promoting his article, Roubini writes that either Trump will back down from his &#8220;stagflationary policies to concentrate on pro-growth measures&#8221; or the resulting financial stress and recession will lead the Republican Party to lose the 2026 midterm elections.
Roubini argues in his column that while some of Trump's policy ideas, such as tech investment and deregulation will boost growth, others are inherently inflationary and destabilizing.

Among the inflationary and destabilizing policies flagged by Roubini include protectionist tariffs, anti-immigration crackdowns, unfunded deficits, and acts such as Trump&#8217;s recent attacks on the Federal Reserve's independence.
&#8220;These stagflationary policies,&#8221; he says, &#8220;will slow growth and increase prices.&#8221; But the real constraint to these policies, he believes, will come from financial markets themselves. &#8220;Market discipline will again kick in with a vengeance,&#8221; he warns, predicting that the resulting higher yields will either force a policy shift, or a recession.
He further believes that this market discipline, &#8220;not least from bond vigilantes,&#8221; will lead to Trump&#8217;s more moderate advisors getting the &#8220;upper hand.&#8221;
Roubini also dismissed Trump's dollar-weakening agenda as &#8220;far-fetched, bordering on lunacy,&#8221; noting that any attempt to orchestrate a so-called &#8220;Mar-a-Lago Accord&#8221; would likely be met with capital flight and spiking yields.

Why It Matters: The term &#8220;bond vigilantes,&#8221; which refers to bond market investors who protest against the government&#8217;s fiscal and monetary policies by pushing yields higher, has gained a lot of prominence in recent weeks.
Trump&#8217;s initial tariff pause on the 9th of April has similarly been attributed to the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44729384/trump-pauses-tariffs-after-yields-surge-bond-vigilantes-hit-another-homerun-experts-point-to-bond-market-panic-for-reversal">spiking bond yields</a>, with Ed Yardeni of Yardeni Research saying that they&#8217;ve &#8220;hit another homerun.&#8221; 
Macro strategist Craig Shapiro said last week that the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45510990/federal-reserve-should-do-nothing-at-all-about-the-rising-yields-says-craig-shapiro-let-the-bond-vigilantes-eat">Federal Reserve should</a> do &#8220;nothing at all&#8221; in response to the rising Treasury yields, and just &#8220;let the bond vigilantes eat.&#8221;
This is precisely the kind of &#8220;market discipline&#8221; that Roubini has discussed in his post on X and the column in Project-Syndicate.

Pascal St-Jean, President and CEO of digital asset manager&nbsp;3iQ Corp., revealed the company&#8217;s three-phase master plan, designed to increase cryptocurrency adoption and secure the network infrastructure.
What Happened: In an exclusive chat with Benzinga, St-Jean shed light on the cryptocurrency-focused firm&#8217;s strategy. He said the first phase of the plan involves increasing adoption and securing&nbsp;networks through staking and supporting&nbsp;mining infrastructure, primarily through exchange-traded funds.
&#8220;Phase 2 is bringing more institutions to the game. We do a lot of education. We&#8217;re working with a lot of banks and asset managers globally,&#8221; he said. St-Jean hinted at several upcoming announcements from 3iQ over the next year.

Black then went on to outline how the "Robotaxi Test" would feature 10-20 Model Ys — echoing Tesla CEO Elon Musk's earlier comments — equipped with the company's latest Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, which would be remotely monitored by teleoperators.
However, the investor added that it was "hardly a risk to the $UBER business model." Black then went on to claim that because of this, "$Uber will offer a low-cost driverless option from every auto mnfr approved for general unsupervised autonomy except $TSLA."
Why It Matters: Black's comments come in as Future Fund offloaded the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/05/45665076/gary-blacks-future-fund-sells-remaining-tesla-stock-reitrates-310-price-target-tslas-valuation-has-become-disconnected">remainder of its Tesla position</a>, citing numerous concerns with issues like valuation, cheaper Tesla models, among others.
Interestingly, Musk had<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/05/45535283/elon-musk-brushes-off-potential-tesla-uber-deal-believes-owners-could-add-their-cars-to-ev-giants-autonomous-fleet-instead"> earlier brushed off </a>any potential deals with Uber and instead touted a proprietary platform for Tesla owners, which would let them "add or subtract" their cars to and from the company's autonomous fleet and earn money.
However, the Robotaxi launch has inspired confidence among analysts, with Musk's exit from DOGE only adding to the sentiment. Wedbush Securities' analyst Dan Ives called Musk&#8217;s decision "<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45667224/dan-ives-calls-elon-musks-trump-white-house-exit-music-to-tesla-shareholders-ears-predicts-renewed-autonomous-vehicle-focus">music to the ears</a>" of Tesla investors and reiterated his bullish views on the company's autonomous driving tech.
Despite the Robotaxi launch and Musk's commitment to the brand, many investors and insiders have sold their Tesla positions, including ARK Investments' <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45660989/cathie-wood-ditches-5-6m-more-tesla-while-elon-musk-quits-government-role-doubles-down-on-ai-stock-under-attack-b">Cathie Wood</a> and Musk's brother, Kimbal Musk.

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed some improvement in the overall market sentiment, while the index remained in the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Thursday.
U.S. stocks settled higher on Thursday, with the S&amp;P 500 recording gains during the session driven by better-than-expected earnings from Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>).
A federal court has invalidated global tariffs enacted by President Donald Trump under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a move that could reshape future U.S. trade policy.
Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BBY#NYSE">BBY</a>) shares fell around 7% on Thursday after the company posted downbeat results for the first quarter. Shares of Caleres Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CAL#NYSE">CAL</a>) dipped 18% after the company reported first-quarter financial results and missed its adjusted EPS and sales estimates. Additionally, the company announced it will suspend its guidance.
On the economic data front, U.S. initial jobless claims rose by 14,000 from the previous week to 240,000 in the week ending May 24th, compared to market estimates of 230,000. The U.S. economy shrank at an annualized rate of 0.2% in the first quarter, compared to the initial estimate of a 0.3% decline.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a positive note, with utilities, real estate and health care stocks recording the biggest gains on Thursday. However, communication services stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session lower.
The Dow Jones closed higher by around 117 points to 42,215.73 on Thursday. The S&amp;P 500 rose 0.40% to 5,912.17, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.39% to 19,175.87 during Thursday's session.
Investors are awaiting earnings results from Shoe Carnival Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SCVL#NASDAQ">SCVL</a>) and Canopy Growth Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CGC#NASDAQ">CGC</a>) today.

At a current reading of 64.1, the index remained in the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Wednesday, versus a prior reading of 63.9.
The Fear &amp; Greed Index is a measure of the current market sentiment. It is based on the premise that higher fear exerts pressure on stock prices, while higher greed has the opposite effect.
