<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/43175746/decentralized-perpetuals-exchanges-dexs-a-comprehensive-guide-to-the-future-of-crypto-trad">Perpetual futures contracts</a>, a dominant force in global cryptocurrency trading, may soon become available to U.S. investors as the regulatory landscape evolves under President Donald Trump's administration.
What Happened: These high-risk instruments, central to offshore crypto activity, have long been inaccessible to US retail investors due to regulatory constraints.
However, legal and structural changes under the current administration have raised expectations that this could change. "We are definitely moving in the direction of crypto-based derivatives being made available in the U.S.," Bloomberg reported, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-10/perpetual-futures-offering-massive-leverage-on-crypto-seen-coming-to-us?embedded-checkout=true">quoting</a> Gabe Rosenberg, partner at Davis Polk &amp; Wardwell. "It's really just a matter of time."
Perpetual contracts—or "perps"—allow traders to bet on cryptocurrency prices with leverage as high as 100x, without needing to own the underlying asset. 
Unlike traditional futures, they don't expire and instead adjust every eight hours to match spot market prices. 
Their popularity stems from this flexibility and ease of use, which has made them a cornerstone of global crypto trading.
First introduced by BitMEX in 2016, perps now account for most of the trading volume on platforms like Binance, which often sees daily perp volumes exceed $70 billion—dwarfing the spot market. 
"Perps have really been the heart and soul of the crypto market," said Adam McCarthy, analyst at Kaiko.
Recent developments reflect this momentum. 
Coinbase Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>) has announced plans to introduce a first-of-its-kind perpetual-style product in the US, and Kraken has agreed to acquire futures platform NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion. 
Meanwhile, Coinbase is reportedly in talks to acquire Deribit, a crypto derivatives exchange.

Why It Matters: Perpetuals are already widely used outside the U.S. by both retail traders and institutions using offshore access.
But expanding them into the regulated US environment could boost adoption further and attract new investor flows. "It&#8217;s more about unlocking new markets and fresh participation," said Chris Newhouse of Cumberland Labs.
Still, the path ahead may require regulatory clarity. 
While institutional players can legally engage in swaps, Bitcoin's treatment in margin and eligibility rules remains a gray area. "Legislation would certainly help settle remaining concerns," said Rosenberg.
As the crypto-friendly regulatory climate evolves, many see the potential US rollout of perps as the next significant step in expanding access to the instruments that have long shaped global digital asset markets.

The Walmart Thesis: The company reiterated its first-quarter sales growth guidance of 3%-4%, despite recent volatility, McShane said in the note.

The company&#8217;s subsidiary, Northstrive Biosciences Inc., formed a development and license agreement with biotechnology innovator Yuva Biosciences Inc. to advance new drug treatments focused on metabolic diseases.
Yuva Biosciences will <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/g44731952/northstrive-biosciences-signs-partnership-with-yuva-biosciences-to-develop-ai-powered-therapies-fo">apply its proprietary AI platform, MitoNova</a>, to identify small molecule candidates that enhance mitochondrial health and potentially combat age-related cellular dysfunction.
As part of the deal, YuvaBio will design artificial intelligence algorithms to pinpoint and assess drug candidates that enhance mitochondrial performance. 
&#8220;Declining mitochondrial function not only accelerates aging but also plays a central role in numerous age-related disorders and other pathologies such as obesity,&#8221; said co-founder and CEO of Yuva Biosciences, Greg Schmergel.

MitoNova leverages a vast, exclusive dataset and advanced AI tools to reveal connections between chemical structures and biological effects, simplifying the journey from initial discovery to laboratory evaluation.
YuvaBio is set to earn an initial payment upon signing the deal, with additional compensation linked to key development milestones. 
The agreement further grants YuvaBio royalty earnings from any market-ready therapies developed from the selected compounds by Northstrive or its partners and sublicensees.

PMGC Stock Surges After Subsidiary Inks Deal With Yuva Biosciences To Develop AI Led Therapies

Capri Holdings Limited (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CPRI#NYSE">CPRI</a>) saw its shares tick higher in Thursday&#8217;s premarket action after the company unveiled a definitive agreement to divest the luxury fashion house Versace to Prada S.p.A. in a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/insights/analyst-ratings/25/04/44606327/the-analyst-verdict-capri-holdings-in-the-eyes-of-12-experts" rel="noreferrer noopener">$1.375 billion all-cash deal, subject to adjustments.</a>

Idol, Chairman and CEO of Capri Holdings, expressed optimism about the sale, citing the brand&#8217;s transformation over the past six years and its reinforced positioning <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/b44732793/capri-holdings-enters-into-definitive-agreement-to-sell-versace-to-prada-s-p-a" rel="noreferrer noopener">in the high-end luxury space.</a>
He said the deal aligns with the group&#8217;s broader plan to improve financial health and boost the long-term performance of its remaining brands, Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo.
According to&nbsp;<a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/?gspk=YWRhbWVja2VydDUzMzY&amp;gsxid=zBMR4PKmcgBw" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benzinga Pro</a>, CPRI stock has lost over 62% in the past year. The Italian fashion house, established 46 years ago by Gianni Versace and most recently led by Donatella Versace, will be exposed to the resources and brand ecosystem of the Prada Group.
Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the negotiations, reports that last month, Donatella stepped down after three decades at the creative helm, passing the reins to Dario Vitale, former design head at Prada-owned Miu Miu.
But the creative leadership and Capri&#8217;s original valuation of 3 billion euros were key hurdles in reaching a final agreement.
Capri shares have fallen over 33% since President Trump's earlier announcement of sweeping tariffs. According to the FT, proceeds from the sale would help strengthen the firm&#8217;s balance sheet and enable accelerated investments in its core brands. The decision had shaken the firm&#8217;s market cap down to around $1.5 billion. However, the tariff pause may instill some confidence in the firm.
In February, the company <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/02/43493897/versace-jimmy-choo-parent-capri-q3-earnings-miss-sales-decline-lackluster-outlook-more" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reiterated </a>its FY25 revenue projections at $4.4 billion <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/02/b43812171/capri-holdings-announces-long-term-financial-targets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">versus the $4.51 billion estimate</a>. Revenues are expected to be $4.1 billion in FY26 and $4.4 billion in FY27.

In a post that quickly gained traction, the user wrote: &#8220;Is it possible that Trump, his family, and billionaire buddies are benefiting from Trump's tariffs?&#8221; The theory suggested Trump might be giving insiders advance notice of tariff announcements, allowing them to sell high, buy low, and profit when markets bounce back.

Some users pointed to Trump's longtime support for tariffs as evidence that this might not be a calculated scheme. &#8220;Trump has been talking about tariffs passionately for 30 years,&#8221; one Redditor noted. &#8220;He truly believes this is a good strategy. It&#8217;s not the idea of those around him. It&#8217;s his baby.&#8221;
