Joe Rogan Hails Tesla's FSD As He Uses It To Drive Home: Calls It 'F***ing Wild'

Alcoa Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AA#NYSE">AA</a>), the largest aluminum producer in the United States, reported $20 million in additional costs during its first quarter, stemming from newly imposed tariffs on Canadian aluminum imports last month.
What Happened: During its <a href="https://benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/04/44853254/alcoa-shares-gain-after-mixed-q1-results-eps-beat-revenues-miss">first quarter earnings</a> call on Wednesday, Alcoa&#8217;s CFO, Molly Bierman, said the 25% tariffs, which took effect on March 12th, have already impacted the company's bottom line, to the tune of $20 million, and expects tariff-related expenses to climb to $90 million during the second quarter.
Following up on this, CEO William F. Oplinger said the tariff poses a significant challenge for the company. "This is the most material impact to Alcoa, as approximately 70% of our aluminum produced in Canada is destined for U.S. customers," Oplinger said.
He estimated the annual cost of the 25% tariff could reach as high as $425 million.

The company, however, expects to offset some of these costs with a high Midwest Premium, which refers to the added costs the buyers pay for aluminum, in addition to the base price. With this premium, Oplinger believes the net annual result is a negative $100 million for Alcoa.

What Happened: The California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) released a report on Wednesday, highlighting the new vehicle registrations in the state for Q1 2025. Tim Cook Net Worth: How Much is Apple's CEO Worth in April 2025?

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/F#NYSE">F</a>) has indicated that it may hike vehicle prices amid uncertainty about the Donald Trump administration's tariffs on the auto industry.
What Happened: In a memo sent to dealers across the country on Wednesday, the Michigan-based auto giant said it may raise prices of its vehicles should auto tariffs continue to be in place, according to a Reuters report.
While there could be a potential price hike in Ford products, the customers won't see its reflection in the dealerships until July, according to the report.&nbsp;
"Customers will have a lot of choices, and we have plenty of inventory to choose from through June 2. The tariff situation is dynamic, and we continue to evaluate the potential impact of tariff actions," a Ford spokesperson cited in the report said.
Why It Matters: The company had recently launched its <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44641009/ford-launches-from-america-for-america-discount-program-as-tariffs-threaten-vehicle-price-surge">‘From America, For America'</a> discount program, which will run through June 2. 
The program extends discounts on Ford and Lincoln vehicles — usually reserved for company employees — to all U.S.-based consumers. It's worth noting that the program does not include the company's Raptor models, 2025 Expedition and Navigator SUVs, and Super Duty trucks.
Michigan-based auto companies have been bearing the brunt of Trump's auto tariffs, with a recent report suggesting <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/04/44806252/trump-tariffs-could-put-ford-gm-at-high-risk-of-negative-ratings-report">Ford is at a high risk</a> of a negative rating by ratings agency S&amp;P.
However, in what could be some much-needed relief for auto companies, Donald Trump announced he was willing to explore ways to provide some <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44798727/auto-stocks-rise-on-trumps-comments-about-supporting-us-car-companies-whats-going-on">U.S. manufacturers with exemptions</a> to the auto tariffs.
