Its coke is primarily used as a principal raw material in the blast furnace steelmaking process as well as in the foundry production of casted iron. A dividend increase says that business is so good the company has more money left this year than it did last year.
There is some debate among investors as to whether we should focus on owning stocks with high dividend yields or stocks that are growing their payout every year.
It is a stupid debate.
The answer is obviously &#8220;Both.&#8221;

Blue Owl is a business development company that makes loans to middle-market companies.
Blue Owl Capital Corporation is one of the largest publicly traded business development companies (BDCs), recently strengthened by its merger with Blue Owl Capital Corporation II (OBDE).
The combined company now manages over $17.4 billion in investments across 236 portfolio companies, with a focus on senior secured lending. 83% of the portfolio is senior secured and 96% consists of floating-rate debt.
OBDC primarily targets U.S. middle-market companies, partnering with private equity sponsors.
The firm&#8217;s credit platform, part of the broader $250 billion Blue Owl asset management ecosystem, gives it powerful origination capabilities. Blue Owl has both deep pockets and lots of resources to source and manage loans.
Blue Owl&#8217;s underwriting philosophy emphasizes recurring cash flows, market leadership, and non-cyclicality. Since the inception of its direct lending platform in 2016, it has maintained an average annual loss rate of just 11 basis points—much better than most of its competition, a testament to its disciplined credit approach and robust portfolio monitoring.
At the end of 2024, non-accruals represented just 0.3% of the portfolio at fair value.
The current yield is over 11%, and management has consistently increased the payout.

Unlike the old-line coal miners, SunCoke&#8217;s value is not based on where prices for coal or steel are headed. Nearly 80% of its production is covered under take-or-pay contracts that include pass-throughs for coal costs, taxes, O&amp;M, and regulatory changes.
It&#8217;s not glamorous, but it&#8217;s cash-flow rich and insulated from price volatility that breaks commodity businesses.
What sets SXC apart is its heat-recovery technology. Their plants are newer, cleaner, and more efficient than the competition, so much so that the EPA&#8217;s MACT environmental standard for coke making is based on SunCoke&#8217;s process.
This gives them a real regulatory moat as legacy by-product batteries age out.
Roughly 90% of U.S. and Canadian coke capacity outside of SXC is over 30 years old, and over 4.4 million tons of capacity has been shuttered since 2015.
That&#8217;s an attrition story SunCoke is well positioned to benefit from without ever needing to build new plants.
Financially, they&#8217;re in solid shape. They&#8217;ve brought down leverage, maintained $190 million in cash, and have an undrawn $350 million in short-term credit if needed.
In 2024, they generated $96 million in free cash flow, which is more than enough to fund their growing dividend, which now sits at $0.48 per share annually, having doubled since 2021.
Management expects a 2025 free cash flow of $100–$115 million even in a softer coke pricing environment.
It&#8217;s dirty and unpopular, but coal still pays dividends, and SunCoke has a fantastic history of increasing the cash to shareholders.

Halted shipping traffic from the Port of Baltimore, the second-largest U.S. hub for coal exports, will slow the growth in U.S. coal exports and reduce bunker fuel use, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Thursday.
<a href="https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/baltimore-bridge-collapse-halts-coal-shipments-2024-03-26/">Coal exports</a> from the busy U.S. port have been disrupted following the collapse of Baltimore's <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/divers-search-baltimore-harbor-six-presumed-dead-bridge-collapse-2024-03-27/">Francis Scott Key Bridge</a> which was struck by a massive cargo ship early Tuesday morning.
"Since the port is a major transit point for freight and bulk vessels, we expect bunker fuel consumption to decrease," the EIA added.
Baltimore handled exports of 28 million short tons last year, making up 28% of total U.S. coal exports and second only to the Hampton Roads port in Norfolk, Virginia, according to census data.
"An attractive feature of the Port of Baltimore is its proximity to the northern Appalachia coal fields in western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia," the EIA said.
"Other nearby ports, most notably Hampton Roads, have additional capacity to export coal, although factors including coal quality, pricing, and scheduling will affect how easily companies can switch to exporting from another port."
About 19 million short tons of the exports in 2023 were steam coal, used to generate power and heat, and the remaining 9 million short tons were metallurgical coal, an ingredient in steelmaking.

India was the top destination for steam coal over the last five years, where the brick manufacturing industry is a major customer, while metallurgical coal went to various Asian countries including Japan, China, and South Korea, the EIA said.
Baltimore also imported 3,000 barrels per day (bpd) of biodiesel in 2023, mostly from Central America and Western Europe, alongside 4,000 bpd of asphalt from Canada and 2,000 bpd of urea ammonium nitrate largely from Russia.
More widely used refined oil products are less affected, the EIA noted.

ATI reported a 5% increase in Q4 sales to $1.06 billion and a 9% increase in annual sales to $4.17 billion, largely attributed to growth in the aerospace and defense sectors, which accounted for 63% of Q4 sales.
Q4 net income was $145.7 million (99 cents per share), and its annual net income was $410.8 million ($2.81 per share).
The company&#39;s operating cash flow for the year was $85.9 million, including significant pension contributions, adjusted EBITDA was $160.7 million and full-year free cash flow totaled $164.7 million.
Board Chair and CEO Robert S. Wetherbee said, &ldquo;ATI delivered a strong finish to 2023, with the highest quarterly revenue of the year&hellip;. Full year sales grew by 9% over 2022 as demand for our differentiated materials accelerates. 3. Alcoa Corporation (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/aa#NYSE">AA</a>) announced it will supply Nexans with low-carbon aluminum rod that incorporates its ELYSIS technology.
This process eliminates all direct greenhouse gas emissions traditionally associated with aluminum smelting, instead emitting oxygen.
Nexans will be the first global cable manufacturer to use aluminum from the ELYSIS process, which significantly lowers CO2 emissions.
