U.S. stocks were lower, with the Dow Jones index falling over 150 points on Wednesday.
Shares of AAR Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AIR#NYSE">AIR</a>) rose sharply during Tuesday's session after posted stronger-than-expected <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/01/42862022/aar-shares-climb-on-better-than-expected-q2-results-details">second-quarter results.</a>
The company reported quarterly earnings of 90 cents per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 84 cents. Quarterly revenue came in at $686.1 million, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $654.18 million.
AAR shares jumped 9.6% to $67.67 on Wednesday.

Radius Recycling, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RDUS#NASDAQ">RDUS</a>) shares are trading lower on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the company reported first-quarter&nbsp;revenue of&nbsp;$656.54 million, missing <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/g42862059/radius-recycling-reports-first-quarter-fiscal-2025-financial-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">the consensus of&nbsp;$665.6 million</a>.
Ferrous sales volumes (LT, in thousands) decreased to 1,106 from 1,152 a year ago; adjusted EBITDA per ferrous ton sold ($/LT) was&nbsp;nil compared to&nbsp;$1&nbsp;in the prior year quarter.
Average net ferrous sales prices ($/LT) fell to $338 from $354 last year. Finished steel average net sales price ($/ST) came in at $775 (vs. 831 a year ago), and sales volumes (ST, in thousands) of 125 (vs. 129 in the comparable period).
Nonferrous prices rose 12%, offsetting a 5% decline in ferrous prices due to soft global markets and high Chinese steel exports.
Finished steel contribution fell due to weaker domestic conditions and a drop in prices. Lower mill utilization in the first quarter, from scheduled maintenance, also impacted results.

The company&#8217;s operating cash flow was nearly break-even in the first quarter of fiscal 2025. Total debt stood at $445 million at the end of the quarter, and debt, net of cash, was $430 million.
Dividend: The Board of Directors declared a cash dividend of $0.1875 per common share, payable on February 18, 2025, to shareholders of record as of February 3, 2025.&nbsp;
Tamara Lundgren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, &#8220;We expect inventory rebuilding and seasonality will drive improved demand in the second half of our fiscal year.&#8221;
&#8220;In the longer-term, the demand for recycled metals remains positive, underpinned by increased investments in infrastructure, including for energy projects, industrial reshoring, continued growth in U.S. electric arc furnace steelmaking capacity, and the transition to low-carbon technologies.&#8221;
Price Action: RDUS shares are trading lower by 25.8% at $10.96 at the last check Wednesday.

According to JPMorgan analyst Samik Chatterjee, who met with HP's Chief Commercial Officer Dave McQuarrie at CES, the company is emphasizing the &#8220;Future of Work&#8221; and operational discipline as key priorities.

At CES, HP unveiled a new lineup of AI-enhanced PCs, including the EliteBook Ultra G1i and X Flip G1i, designed to cater to commercial customers. These devices feature premium hardware, HP AI Companion, and advanced security through HP Wolf Security. Available later this month, they aim to redefine productivity for enterprise users.

O&#8217;Leary was direct in his criticism. &#8220;You want to make America the number one destination for capital all around the world,&#8221; he said during a recent Fox Business <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsvbFP1PquA">interview</a>. &#8220;You want them to bring their dollars and build plants and equipment in the United States because it's the most competitive and largest economy. You do not want to mess with that.&#8221;
Biden, on the other hand, stated that keeping U.S. Steel domestically owned is essential for national security and resilient supply chains: &#8220;Steel production – and the steelworkers who produce it – are the backbone of our nation.&#8221;
However, O&#8217;Leary argued that Nippon Steel had already pledged to invest up to $15 billion to upgrade U.S. Steel&#8217;s plants, create jobs and ensure steel production met American standards. After Biden's decision, U.S. Steel's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/25/01/42780788/us-steel-tumbles-nearly-10-in-overnight-trading-on-robinhood-as-biden-reportedly-plans-to-block-149b-nippon-steel-merger">stock value dropped</a>. The company and Nippon Steel released a joint statement saying the decision was unfair and against the law. U.S. Steel's CEO, David Burritt, went further, calling the move "shameful and corrupt." He said Biden's actions insulted Japan, a close ally and gave an advantage to competitors in China.

Nippon Steel had promised to keep U.S. Steel's headquarters in Pittsburgh, ensure Americans stayed in charge and prioritize steel production for U.S. needs. They said the deal would have helped U.S. Steel compete against cheaper steel from countries like China.
O&#8217;Leary remains adamant that the move hurts America's reputation as a destination for global investment. "This is counterproductive," he said. &#8220;I hope that actually Trump overturns this."
