Why It's Important: Members of Congress are allowed to buy and sell stocks as long as they properly disclose the transaction.
The process has drawn scrutiny from the public and retail investors as members of Congress could have inside information and time their trades accordingly. Committee assignments in particular, often draw red flags from investors.
Greene serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability and the House Committee on Homeland Security with several subcommittee appointments. The congresswoman's past trade in technology and cybersecurity stocks has drawn attention with her role within Homeland Security.
Greene&#8217;s past trades of Palantir Technologies and a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/03/44255172/marjorie-taylor-greene-buys-more-bitcoin-etf-shares-ahead-of-trumps-strategic-reserve-executive-order"> Bitcoin ETF </a>have drawn criticism along with the timing of her trades, as she is a close ally to President Donald Trump. 
When asked previously about buying stocks earlier this year that soared days later after Trump announced a pause to tariffs, Greene<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/politics/25/04/44852406/marjorie-taylor-greene-brushes-off-stock-buying-criticism-says-portfolio-manager-bought-the-dip"> brushed aside the criticism.</a>
&#8220;I think that criticism is laughable. President Trump has been talking about tariffs for decades,&#8221; Greene told reporters when asked about the trades at a recent town hall event in Georgia in a clip <a href="https://x.com/unusual_whales/status/1912456434081480777" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">shared </a>by Unusual Whales. The congresswoman used the opportunity to boast about her stock performance, which ranked her as one of the top trading members of Congress in 2024.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t place my buys and sells," Greene said, citing an agreement she has with her portfolio manager, who handles all the buying and selling of stocks. &#8220;He did a great job. Guess what he did. He bought the dip. And that&#8217;s what anybody that has financial sense does."
Greene also said her portfolio manager did not have inside information, everything was public and a potential tariff pause wasn&#8217;t a secret.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) has reintroduced legislation that would ban members of Congress from trading or holding individual stocks.
The bill is known as the Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments Act, or PELOSI Act based on the first letter of each of the main words. The name takes aim at the congresswoman and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).  
&#8220;Members of Congress should be fighting for the people they were elected to serve — not day trading at the expense of their constituents,&#8221; Hawley&nbsp;<a href="https://www.hawley.senate.gov/hawley-reintroduces-pelosi-act-to-ban-congress-from-trading-stocks/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a>. &#8220;Americans have seen politician after politician turn a profit using information not available to the general public.&#8221;
Hawley said the bill will help &#8220;restore Americans&#8217; trust in our nation&#8217;s legislative body.&#8221;
Hawley&#8217;s bill is being reintroduced as President&nbsp;Donald Trump&nbsp;<a href="https://time.com/7280114/donald-trump-2025-interview-transcript/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said&nbsp;</a>he would support such a ban.
&#8220;Well, I watched Nancy Pelosi get rich through insider information, and I would be okay with it. If they send it to me, I would do it,&#8221; Trump told TIME.
Trump said he would sign the ban if the bill passes Congress.
While Pelosi makes headlines for her trades, it&#8217;s important to remember that<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/politics/25/04/44852406/marjorie-taylor-greene-brushes-off-stock-buying-criticism-says-portfolio-manager-bought-the-dip" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">&nbsp;it is both Republican</a>&nbsp;and Democratic members of Congress who are profiting from buying and selling stocks and options while in office, with some trades coming with questionable timing or having a connection to committees they serve on.

According to Wired, Tools for Humanity has formed strategic partnerships with Visa (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/V#NYSE">V</a>), Match Group (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MTCH#NASDAQ">MTCH</a>), and Razer to expand the reach of its World ID system across industries such as finance, dating, and gaming.&nbsp;

What To Know: Online investment platform Webull announced a collaboration with Visa to integrate Visa Direct on its platform, allowing its U.S. users to quickly transfer money between brokerage accounts and external bank accounts.
Visa Direct also allows for the transfer of funds directly to eligible cards and wallets. The new feature will allow Webull to offer fast access to the market through its new deposit feature, versus other common methods of transferring money, which can take several days to clear.

JP Morgan analyst Tien-tsin Huang <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/MA/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reiterated an Overweight</a> rating on Mastercard Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MA#NYSE">MA</a>) on Friday, with a price target of $610.
Mastercard reported&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45142357/mastercard-raises-guidance-for-fy25-after-upbeat-q1-results-and-surge-in-global-card-issuance" rel="noreferrer noopener">fiscal first-quarter</a> net revenues of $7.25 billion, up 14%,&nbsp;beating the&nbsp;analyst consensus estimate&nbsp;of&nbsp;$7.12 billion.
Adjusted EPS rose 13% to $3.73, exceeding the&nbsp;analyst&nbsp;consensus estimate&nbsp;of $3.57.

Revenue yield was ~0.9 bps ahead of Huang&#8217;s expectation and up two bps over the prior year, aided by acquisitions, currency volatility, and pricing. As expected, given calendar headwinds and consistent with Visa, volume KPIs decelerated sequentially.
Mastercard posted stable, mid-teens organic revenue growth in the first quarter despite the leap year driving an expected deceleration in volume growth. The upside was broad-based, though management highlighted currency volatility and lower incentives (likely pushed into the rest of the year) as the internal surprise. Volume trends were as expected and consistent with Visa Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/V#NYSE">V</a>), showing relative stability adjusted for calendar headwinds. 
However, cross-border decelerated slightly more than expected off a higher fourth-quarter base (still comfortably growing mid-teens) and found management&#8217;s commentary about the diversification of the high-margin cross-border business to be encouraging.
Assuming no material macro shocks, the analyst feels confident in near-term numbers given pricing actions supporting growth (which will be lapped in the second half).
Mastercard expects net revenue growth in the mid-teens digits for the second quarter, compared to the $7.78 billion&nbsp;consensus estimate. The company expects low teen-digit revenue growth for fiscal 2025, compared to the $31.51 billion&nbsp;consensus estimate.&nbsp;
Reiterated full-year organic guidance implies a comfortable deceleration in second-half trends, which Huang noted should absorb modest macro pressure. Still, material upside to numbers may require additional pricing actions or macro help. The analyst continues to like Mastercard&#8217;s premium and diversified growth at scale.
Huang continues to assume rounded 12% foreign exchange neutral or organic revenue growth in 2025, while 2026&#8217;s is down to 11% (from 12%). His second-quarter, fiscal 2025, and fiscal 2026 EPS estimates go to $4.03 (from $3.95), $15.90 (from $15.68), and $18.60 (from $18.49).
The price target of $610 applies 33 times multiple Huang&#8217;s calendar 2026 EPS, in line with its current next-twelve-months multiple (~33 times) and ~3 turns ahead of its three-year average. The analyst noted that this multiple is reasonable given Mastercard&#8217;s premium growth and identified pricing actions helping to de-risk near-term foreign-exchange-neutral or organic estimates, supporting defensive growth, especially as volume growth remains stable. The analyst acknowledged a wide range of macro outcomes.

Mastercard's Cross-Border Surge And Pricing Actions Drive Analyst Optimism

Mastercard Inc&nbsp;(NYSE:&nbsp;MA)&nbsp;reported&nbsp;fiscal first-quarter&nbsp;results on Thursday. The company reported quarterly net revenues of $7.25 billion, up 14% year-over-year and 17% Y/Y on a neutral currency basis,&nbsp;beating the&nbsp;analyst consensus estimate <a target="_blank" href="https://investor.mastercard.com/financials-and-sec-filings/quarterly-results/default.aspx" rel="noreferrer noopener">of&nbsp;$7.12 billion</a>.
Adjusted EPS rose 13% Y/Y to $3.73, exceeding the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">analyst&nbsp;consensus estimate</a> of $3.57.
Payment network net revenue rose 13% Y/Y (+16% Y/Y on a currency-neutral basis), led by growth in gross dollar volume (+9% Y/Y), cross-border volume (+15% Y/Y), and&nbsp;switched transactions (+9% Y/Y).&nbsp;

Value-added services and solutions net revenue rose 16% and 18% on a currency-neutral basis, driven by demand for its consumer acquisition and engagement and business and market insight services, the scaling of its security and digital and authentication solutions, and pricing.
Mastercard's switched volume, reflecting the value of transactions on its network, rose by 11% year over year. Cross-border volume, which indicates travel demand by tracking spending on cards outside their country of issue, increased by 15% in the same period.
The adjusted operating margin expanded 50 bps Y/Y to 59.3%. The net income climbed 12% on a currency-neutral basis to $3.3 billion, while the adjusted net income improved by 13% on a currency-neutral basis to $3.4 billion.
As of March 31, 2025, the&nbsp;company&nbsp;had issued 3.5 billion Mastercard and Maestro branded cards to customers.
During the quarter, Mastercard repurchased 4.7&nbsp;million shares for $2.5&nbsp;billion and paid $694 million in dividends.&nbsp;As of March 31, 2025, cash and cash equivalents stood at $9.98 billion.
Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach said, "Our steady drumbeat of innovation continues. We launched Mastercard Agent Pay, our new Agentic Payments Program, and will work with companies like Microsoft and OpenAI. And we announced a strategic partnership with Corpay to deliver an enhanced suite of corporate cross-border payment solutions."
He added, "While there is uncertainty in the world, we've built a diversified, resilient business model and proven strategy that enables us to effectively navigate various economic environments."
On Tuesday, Visa Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/V#NYSE">V</a>) <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/04/45083885/visa-shares-move-higher-after-better-than-expected-q2-results-details" rel="noreferrer noopener">reported second-quarter</a> EPS of&nbsp;$2.76, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of&nbsp;$2.68. Quarterly revenue came in at $9.59 billion,&nbsp;up 9.2% Y/Y, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of&nbsp;$9.55 billion.
Q2 and FY25 Outlook: Mastercard expects net revenue growth in the mid-teens digits for the second quarter versus the $7.78 billion <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate</a>. The company now expects low teen-digit revenue growth for fiscal 2025 (<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/01/43345282/mastercard-q4-earnings-revenue-and-eps-beat-strong-growth-in-payments-and-cross-border-transactions" rel="noreferrer noopener">prior low double digits</a>) versus the $31.51 billion&nbsp;consensus estimate.&nbsp;
